Unpretentious, affordable, DELICIOUS Mexican food served with patience for my very poor Spanish. Will definitely go back!

I didn't go to the restaurant but I stop by their tent at a Hispanic heritage month event and grabbed a tamale. It was chicken mole with great flavor and a little bit of a spicy bite to it. I would try more food if in the area of their restaurant!

Great service and quick to go orders. The food is amazing! Has authentic options in comparison to the other local options.

The building looks obsolete from outside BUT don't let it fool you because it does not represent the service and food you get. The server was very kind and let us sample three different kinds of drinks we were unfamiliar with. They were all great. I had tacos al pastor and asada. Asada felt a bit dry but I really liked al pastor. It had good amount of pineapples. They serve authentic Mexican food and the tortilla is hand made :)

Authentic food packed with so much flavor They were very busy and were in need to hire a server. A young man ran back and forth taking orders, drinks food, hosting and bar tending. Takes time for the young man to get to you as he is alone, but food comes out quickly. Second time here and I assure you I will be back !!

Friendly fast service today. It has been awhile since my last visit and it appears an off-shoot second location is also active as well. Delicious tlacoyo today ! Unfortunately they were running low on mole so I had to skip that and opted for tacos Dorado instead. Looking forward to returning for mole soon. Parking is kind of a small lot so you might need a backup option if no place to park.

In a recent visit I had found this little gem. Beware the hours on Yelp are all wrong. We came around 7:30pm & it was closed down. At night the area is not well lit so it looked like it was permanently closed but in my quest for a good taco arabe I decided to call the next day & planned a stop before I left the area. Let me just tell you I had a "Ohhhhh WOW moment " Believe me when I tell you this is about as close as you're gonna get to authentic Poblano cooking. I was pleasantly surprised & so happy I persisted. Don't let the "diveyness" deter you. It's clean & food is AWESOME! Despite the tacos arabes & al pastor not be done on a vertical rotisserie as they are traditionally made the flavor was fabulous! The tlacoyo suprema was also on point.

Very authentic Mexican restaurant. Look at all the menu items that are not offered at the Americanized Mexican restaurants. Last time I was here, I ordered the Chilaquiles, and I was offered the choice between the green sauce, red sauce or the Mole sauce. I chose the Mole and it was delicious. Today, I ordered the Menudo and it was the best I have had in a long time. The broth was rich and flavorful. I need to go back and try the Chicharron En Salsa Verde. Again, something you don't see on other restaurant menus.

This little restaurant on the west side deserves a little more recognition. How in the world does it only have 11 reviews? First off, I will say that it isnt in the best of locations and its exterior isnt the best looking BUT if you want to try authentic Mexican food this is the place to go. It was recommended by a friend and it certainly did not disappoint. The inside is very clean and with lots of space to sit. Their menu includes Tacos, burritos, sopes, seafood and even breakfast! We went in for breakfast and will be returning for some tacos. I had the Chilaquiles Verdes with two eggs. My husband had Huevos a la Mexicana and a Tlacoyo with Carne Asada and our daughter had Huevos con Jamon aka Ham and eggs! I'm glad we came in hungry because these plates were HUGE! All breakfast plates came with rice and beans and fresh handmade tortillas! They were so good also! We finished it off with some Champurrado (Chocolate based atole) so good to drink during the cold weather. We also shared a Tlacoyo which reminded me alot of a sope. It was delicious and very flavorful. One thing to note is that their menu is mostly in Spanish but dont let that stop you. The staff is super helpful and very nice. I'm so glad a found a location closer to home with delicious authentic food! That's an easy hella good from me!

I was on the west side of Indy and decided to trust Yelp to help find a new place to stop for lunch. So, I got off at the Washington Street exit of I-465 and found this brightly colored building just east of the Morris Street intersection. They have a small parking lot on the east side of the building. Once inside, I was greeted from the far end of the dining room and told I could sit anywhere. The interior was bright green with plenty of tables in a long, narrow room. At the back was a curtained area where I could see Mexican beer and beverages for sale. A music system was playing Mariachi-style music, while a single television played a soap opera in Spanish. I noticed the menu had lots of pictures and the food was grouped into categories with very little description of the meal, and those were in Spanish. Leafing through the pages, I saw "Quesadilla" and it came in several varieties. My waitress was very conversant in both English and Spanish, so she let me know what types of meat were available for the dish (I went with the steak). Just below the listing, there was Sopes which I was unfamiliar with. She explained it was a corn meal disk topped with frijoles (refried beans), lettuce, cheese, and sour cream and that I could pick a type of meat for the dish as well (I went with chicken.) She asked if I wanted anything else and I thought the two dishes were enough. It wasn't until the plates were brought out that I realized the restaurant did not give complementary chips and salsa like most Mexican themed restaurants. The dishes also did not come with any sides (at least at lunch.) I liked the flavor of the Sopes as it was served. The chicken was warm and moist and the dish had enough flavor that I didn't feel the need to add any sauces. The Quesadilla was served on another plate and appeared a bit naked. It was basically a folded pocket of a tortilla filled with a decent amount of stock cut into small pieces and a nice melted light cheese. It was served with two bottles of sauce: Salsa verde and "Red" sauce. I especially liked the flavor of the salsa verde with the meal. The red sauce had a little bit of heat but was relatively mild. Most of the steak was pretty tender, but there were a couple bites that were a little tough. One thing I noticed was that between each entree and the plate was a single sheet of serving paper. I used a table knife to cut my entrees into bite sized pieces and couldn't help but cut the paper. So, I was concerned the cut paper might stick to the bottom of each bite. I decided to pull the paper out from under the food and was left with scraps of wadded up paper on my plate. I wonder why they feel the need to place the paper under the food? The table knives were not very sharp and required a bit of cutting to get through the food. Maybe steak knives would be more convenient for customers to use. The waitress was attentive without being intrusive. I liked that she offered lime wedges with my water. She also did a good job of getting my bill taken care of so that I could get on my way. Overall, the food was good and service was fine. It was a bit different from the "standard" Mexican experience that I have had at most economical restaurants of this cuisine. My advice? Don't be afraid to speak up and ask questions about the food and what may or may not come with it. Review #374

After debating venturing out into…read morewinter weather and playing the downtown parking hunger games, we decided staying in the building was the move. Convenience: 10/10. Turner's itself is a good sized establishment with a pool table and a few different seating areas, which makes it feel like a solid spot to hang out whether you're there for drinks, food, or killing time before an event. They also have a cut out window where you can order Julieta Tacos, which is a really cool option if you want to mix things up food wise without leaving the space. We grabbed seats at the bar where a bartender (didn't catch her name) greeted us and handed over menus. I mentioned we were there for the Devour menu and was told it was over... which was interesting since Turner's website was still advertising it earlier that same morning. After a quick check with a manager, they honored it, which we definitely appreciated because nothing says "Devour disappointment" like ghosted food promos. The Devour deal included a hot dog, chips, and a cocktail. I ordered the Miami Vice and honestly, no notes. Solid drink. We also got to pick snack sized chip bags hanging behind the bar, which felt a little like choosing snacks at a gas station, but hey, variety is variety. Now for the plot twist... We were told our hot dogs were ready and to grab them from the warmer. Exciting, right? Except when we opened the warmer, the foil wrapped hot dogs were... cold. Cold. Like they, too, were braving the Indiana winter. When we let staff know, there was a bit of a team huddle on how to handle it, which felt slightly awkward and unorganized. It also felt like we accidentally became "those customers," simply for wanting our hot dogs to be warm. Thankfully, another bartender, Andre, stepped in like the calm in the storm. He got fresh hot dogs warmed up and brought them out and he continued checking on us for the rest of our visit, which honestly saved the experience. Overall: Cocktails were good, the location is super convenient if you're already at The Stutz, and shoutout to Andre for turning things around! That said, I can probably check Turner's off my list and doubt I'll make a trip back unless I'm already at The Stutz & if I do return, it would likely be for drinks only!

The vibe is relaxed with music piped through, and a couple TVs in case you want to watch sports or a movie while sipping your beer. The food is legit, and the tap list delivers. Let's start with the pizza. They've got all the classics--cheese, pepperoni, sausage, veggie, BBQ chicken, buffalo--but the creative pies are where this place really shines. The brisket pizza with Alabama white sauce is interestingly good, and the pepperoni, basil, pesto, ricotta, hot honey pizza is next-level amazing. The house-made dough is dialed in and ties everything together beautifully. Pair that with a draft beer and you're set. The taproom regularly pours a good lineup from Narrow Gauge Brewing Company--IPAs, stouts, lagers, plus at least one fruity sour. Personal favorites include Atlantic (an English-style barleywine) and Galaphobia (milk stout), but you can't go wrong with a DDH IPA, Lining the Walls Hefeweizen, or the flagship OJ Run. Not in a pizza mood? The giant pub pretzels with beer cheese and mustard are perfect for sharing (or not ). Or grab an order of house-made breadsticks with garlic butter or homemade marinara for dipping. We've gone a few times and most recently during their Darkest Beer Days event. And it did not disappoint--an awesome way to celebrate the Winter Solstice with great dark beers and guest taps. I appreciate that they highlight not only Narrow Gauge, but also other Midwest breweries like Streetside Brewing, Butchertown Brewing, Maplewood Brewery & Distillery, and Transient Artisan Ales at this special event. Bonus points: the owner shared that they'll close the taproom for private group events, and if your crew likes pinball, there are a few machines to keep things fun between pours. Definitely worth considering! Fantastic food, great beer, creative events, and a nice atmosphere--this place is an absolute win. We'll keep coming back (and bringing friends) and hope to see this place do more events in the future.

However, on a recent trip back to visit my parents' grave, I finally got the chance to stop in and check it out for a bit. Central Normal Tap is basically a laid-back, charming pub and grill with solid dining options, craft beer, spirits, and a terrifically friendly vibe. I'm not sure if terrifically is really a word, but I'm sticking with it. Located on the east side of the Danville Town Square, this is a great place to hit if you're doing some visiting of the town square (and you should). It's not an all-day joint. It's really from evening into the night hours. The town square offers free parking (with accessible option). While there are stores on the square that are not accessible, Central Normal Tap is pretty darn good (some of the tables are a bit high and there are a handful of booths that have a step up). Dining options include pretzels, wings, flatbreads, and more. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but I enjoyed the time I spent. The vibe was a nice tapestry of smaller town charm with a modern energy. The food was tasty, and the service was absolutely top-notch. I would easily return, though I might avoid when it's super busy as I could imagine accessibility being a bit more challenging just due to the layout. For those who wonder (I love origin stories), the name comes from Central Normal College, a former college that moved from Ladoga, Indiana to Danville, Indiana in the 19th century and lasted until just after World War II. It's a part of Danville/Hendricks County history (you can learn more about it at the Hendricks County Museum).
