Fantastic bakery and cafe! Our group of 10 had lunch on Saturday and the food was superb. Several had the spanakopita and salad, others had the burger and fries, and one had the octopus. All were delicious. We also purchased bread- the fougasse (we ended up buying 2) and sour dough- along with several pastries and cookies. The following morning we stopped for coffee and pastries before heading home. Wish we had a bakery/cafe like that around here. read more

Came here for a weekend afternoon light lunch with my girlfriend. The place was a buzz with most tables filled. The staff seems to handle the large crowd well as our food was brought out at a good pace. I got the mushroom toast and she the avocado toast. I still think that these toasts should be a bit less expensive, seeing as how it is a light meal. The coffee is from a company in New York and is pretty good. The mushroom toast was o.k., but I think the cream sauce is a bit much and kind of off-putting. Also, the mushrooms were very tiny and shriveled up. Driving a bit out of the way from Pittsburgh seems not worth the effort of going here. If I lived here I might try the pastries, or go for the coffee. As for this lunch the quality of the food I had was not really worth the inflated prices. read more

My husband and I stopped for breakfast on a Tuesday morning. He ordered the breakfast sandwich and I got the avocado toast with an egg on top. Both were generous in portions and delicious! You can definitely tell the ingredients are super fresh. We also got the doughnuts with honey drizzled on top. Their coffee is great as well. I loved my Meli Latte as it wasn't too sweet. let's kick it off this review with the amazing food. I had the mushroom toast ( seasonal item), and it was not only easy on the eyes but very tasty. My favorite thing is you taste how high quality the ingredients are. The menu is definitely a pricey, please make sure you see the updated menu because they did change their prices. I also ordered a baklava latte with oat milk, and if were being honest I'm not sure if they put oat milk in it because It tasted like regular milk. This isn't like a lot of coffee shops, it's classy with a focus on high quality ingredients. In my opinion the coffee isn't sweet enough for me. The design and architecture of this place is very concise. The service was okay, everyone was nice but it kind of intimidating. You get numbers and someone brings the food out to you. They keep the place very clean and organized. They also sells some take home goods. read more

Great bakery! The tsourikis was delicious! We tried the French toast - delicious. The breakfast sandwich - good. The yoghurt bowl - the yoghurt was thick and creamy - not sure if it's made there, served with honey and fruits and nuts. We also got the breakfast platter with a variety of breads , jams and honey. I think the breads and croissants are baked there - they were excellent! Service was fine. They were pretty busy but doing a good job getting everyone their orders. Highly recommend. read more

Anthos is a new cafe near my home in Castle Shannon and is a great addition to the neighborhood! My husband and I have been wanting to try this spot for a few weeks and finally made it! We went for breakfast on a Friday morning and they were fairly busy. We ordered and were given a number for our table. We sat with our danish and waited for our coffees and breakfast sandwiches. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because of the wait. Our coffees took forever! But our food probably took about 20-25 mins after we ordered. They seemed short staffed and one lady said that her food took 45 minutes! I will say the food was delicious and my latte was good although I asked for a vanilla latte and it was just a plain latte. I definitely would go back, I think they are just new and working out the kinks but overall the restaurant is beautiful and the staff was friendly. read more

When you're in a city that you don't really know all that well and you start looking around, Yelp is definitely your friend! I'm not super familiar with Pittsburgh, I've been several times, and I always end up finding something new to me. Poking around for places that were near myself and my party, this lovely gem showed up! I have to say, from the frontage of the place, you can already tell that you're in for a treat! When walking in you are greeted by smells that just envelop your taste buds and sigjts that just make your brain want to explode! This beauty of a restaurant is outstanding in decoration, service, friendliness, and food! Covering a great swath of different Greek fare offerings, it's hard not to be captivated by the front line with all of the pastries and sandwiches and delicacies staring you in the face. Their menu board has plenty of options, but I'm a sucker for chicken souvlaki and seeing that they had avgolemono soup on the menu, I couldn't not try it! The chicken souvlaki was otherworldly, seasoning, cook and display were off the chain! The pita that was served with it was its own delicacy! We have avgolemono soup that had that perfect blend of pasta, chicken, lemon and savory. I also treated myself to one of their chocolate walnut cookies, which was far away not a mistake! For being pretty new, you'd think they've had this place open for 20 years with the polish that is on their culinary expertise. Go here, buy all the foods, and enjoy! read more

I ordered the Greek Island Bowl, Kalimara Breakfast tray, Pastitsio, Chicken Souvlaki, Baklava and Chocolate Chunk Walnut Cookie (all to go). Everything was super fresh, well packaged and delicious. I have been here multiple times; I have never had bad food, a bad drink, or bad service. The restaurant is beautifully arranged and decorated. The pastries are out of this world. The coffee is downright addictive and delectable. This place should be on every tourist AND local's must see list. I am afraid to talk about the pricing because it feels unreasonably low for the quality and quantity. I'm not saying they should raise it but I don't understand how they can undervalue the downright artistry that is their cooking. I came here with two other friends, all of us Greeks. I'd say this is a great destination for Greek food, and the best Greek food I've found in Pittsburgh. (Admittedly the latter bit is somewhat faint praise, because there are really no decent options for Greek food in the city...) We ordered a few things: The souvlaki was good, though not amazing. The mousaka and the spanakopita were excellent. The tyropita was mediocre. The dakos was amazing, kudos! After our meal, we also got some other products to go. I got the tsoureki and the koulouri, both of which were excellent. There is also a great variety of other traditional Greek foodstuff to buy, including sweet preserves and other baked goods. But I resisted buying too much! The service staff were very kind, and they treated us to free dakos, which we all appreciated. (Thanks a lot!) Overall, if you are looking for good Greek food, you should definitely come to Anthos! I am hoping to come again---it's a bit far from where I live---to try the other menu items. read more
