Went in for seattle restaurant week. I got the wagyu top sirloin medium rare. It was a very disappointment wagyu. It tasted bland and no seasoning. It was very dry. Wagyu you can't really screw that up. It tasted like regular top sirloin to me. I will never go back there ever again. I demand a refund. read more

I tried. I mean I REALLY tried. I refrained from giving them a bad review after my mediocre (at best) brunch, but I can hold my tongue no longer. Tonight we decided to go for dinner. We didn't have reservations, but decided we could wait. We were told it was a 40 minute at most wait. We waited, and waited, and waited. We had the six year old and 11 month old with us, and magically our kids were good for the whole 50 (yes, 50) minutes we waited. I was apologized to for the wait and told there would be a complementary appetizer sent to our table for us. Ends up what was ordered for us was the calmari. That sucks, as no one wanted the calamari...too bad they didn't consult us before that, as the food was wasted. I would have rather not have had one than to be given something we didn't want. We ordered the crab artichoke dip for our appetizer. It seriously tasted as if it was made with tunafish. Bleh. I ordered the steak and coconut prawns. The hubby got the crab fettucini, and my six year old got the kids' salmon. My steak was delish. The prawns were overly greasy and bland. Had to be drenched in the sauce to be good. Who'd have thought the seafood place would ace the land animal and screw up the seafood?? My husband's crab linguini had yummy lump crab in it, but the sauce, like my shrimp, was bland. Also a bit too runny for my liking. My daughter's fish was over-seasoned for being for a child. Salmon is pretty simple, a little lemon, maybe some butter, a touch of dill MAYBE and you're good. This was over-done and she hated it. You can't over-do things for kids under the age of 10 - which is who this is supposed to be for. Service - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaack. After waiting almost an hour to get seated we waited a FULL HOUR to get our food. Like, SERIOUSLY? I was sitting there with a six year old and an ELEVEN MONTH OLD. I did my best to keep her entertained but shoot, in the end we were there two hours and twenty minutes. Far too long for anyone. Oh, the staff attire is SO outdated. Would someone please update their poor wardrobe? I will NOT be returning here...I gave them two shots and both times they blew it. read more

This is the type of place you take your boyfriend to meet your mom and grandma. Yep, I did! My mom asked some hard hitting questions about our preconceived hypothetical dual citizen children and we smoothed it over with champagne, crab cakes and the nice scenery. It has American seafood and brunch. It has great views of the waterfront and the view is much better than all those places on Lake Union in Seattle. I had great expectations but was greatly underwhelmed. The good... Calimari was very good and the beer was cold. The steak (10 oz and 7 oz sirloin) were cooked as we asked and were tender. The bad... Baked potato was bland, came with butter and sour cream on the side. No salt and pepper, and no option to load the potato. The mixed vegetables were also bland. As was the seasoning on the steak. Nothing horribly bad, just not up to expectations. A little disappointing way to close out our anniversary celebration. read more

Great location, by Edmonds water front. It's dark during the night but the atmosphere is still pretty nice. They have their own parking lot. Therefore, you don't have to worry about parking. This is definitely a plus for me. Service was great! I had a piece of fish which I was not able to cut through. Apparently, it's just a bad cut. My server noticed, sent back to the kitchen and got me another piece. On top of that, she got me a free dessert. Food was good. Portion was reasonable but I didn't realize my plate would cost almost $40. I guess, the fresh taste for the win! read more

I met a girlfriend here for Happy Hour on a drizzly Friday night and had never been to this location before. I initially stopped at the restaurant down the way thinking it was Anthony's since this location is a bit deep down on Admiral Way. The restaurant is located upstairs and there is a "cafe" that is downstairs. It was really wet out so the stairs were just an additional pain (I also admit it had taken me about an hour to get there with the slick roads so I was just dying to eat and relax). I was greeted by the hostess but we were going to sit in the bar so I walked in to seat myself and noticed a few things. A) the 'bar' is extremely small. I didn't see much of the dining room since they had it closed and a wall divider so you couldn't really see in. B) It is full of 'elderly' folks; more so than usual for Anthony's "Early" Bird dinners. I got cut off by a elderly gentlemen who wanted to fight me for a table in the bar. C) The view is non-existent from the bar. The Des Moines location is setup that you have quite an enjoyable view from both the restaurant 'and' the bar so you're not neglecting anything to choose happy hour over regular dinner. Our server was great and the food was good as always although I keep noticing that the 'Early Bird' Dinners are creeping up in price each year. I was introduced to them back when it was $14.95 for the four-course meal. I believe it is now up to $19.95 which is still a great deal although it's definitely spendier than it used to be. I still love Anthony's chowder/food/etc but I would stick to larger locations with better views. This was not my fave at all. read more

FYI - I did the math. It is much cheaper to buy wine by the glass than by the bottle. You can get ~5 glasses for the ~3 you might get in the bottle. Service is always fast and super friendly. The views are beautiful - even at night when you can see neighboring lights + the ferries. We got the clams + mussels - the broth they sit in is divine! This time we split the garlic crab... It was HUGE! It filled us both. We also got the scallops and they were OK - if you know how to make 'em , it's hard to get them elsewhere. Additionally - they will tell you on the menu if something is fresh or frozen. 2 dinners, 2 glasses of wine, appetizer + tip = $125. My husband and I always sit in the bar area or patio during happy hour! We enjoy the happy hour drink prices while eating the sunset dinner special features Monday through Friday - 430-6pm! The sunset dinner is a four course meal of pure indulgence. Don't come to this meal full. Course options 1. You can choose between shrimp cocktail or salmon and potatoes on a cracker. 2. Salad or chowder (I love the blue cheese salad) 3. Entree - there are typically six listed and two seasonal options they switch in and out 4. Dessert - creme brule, chocolate mouse, and sorbet Always 5 star service from everyone at this location! I love how the staff here knows their usual customers and they have conversations with you! Appetizer : crab cakes They were super crispy on the outside , but the middle melted in my mouth. Super flavorful but SO SMALL. This is not an appetizer for 2. Clam chowder : Tons of meat in this Super creamy Consistency was great.. Only ended up ordering this because the crab cakes were so small! LOL but I don't regret it! Birthday dinner time. Reminiscing about how we would always come to Anthonys to celebrate when I was growing up. Whether it was birthdays, graduations, holidays, etc. ..we always enjoyed the food and the view. The view stands alone. Beautiful night, breathtaking view. ...we live in an undeniably stunning area, and I'm grateful that hasn't changed over all these years. The other thing that hasn't changed over all the years? The decor. I get that most of the clientele here is still older, more old fashioned, but it feels like that place is in desperate need of a make over. As far as the food: Currently it's Strawberry season, so they have the menu going to reflect that. I did enjoy the fresh strawberry Cosmo, although the strawberry they used for the garnish looked pretty nasty. On my 2nd cosmo, the strawberry garnish actually had a black spot on it. Considering it's Strawberry season. ...I would expect some fresh lively looking strawberries....but the Cosmo was fantastic. We had the dungeness crab, shrimp, and artichoke dip for an appetizer. My bf isn't a seafood guy. ..but it was my bday so he went out of love. He actually tried the dip and loved it. It was great, plenty of bread served with it. Came here at 4:15pm post-ferry ride to Kingston. It happened to be a Beeeeeeautiful day and we sat out on the deck for happy hour, which is 3-6pm 7 days a week. Select cocktails are 5 bucks, beers are 3 bucks. I had the elderberry sparkler and it was perfect! All their happy hour menu plates are 5 bucks also. We ordered: salmon sliders, seafood artichoke dip, clams, calamari. The salmon sliders initially struck me as a little too fishy smelling, but everyone else loved them so maybe I was just too sensitive. The calamari was good, slightly better than average. I'm not a big fan of clams, but these little guys were tasty. And the artichoke dip was wonderful! This place really has an amazing view on a nice day and happy hour prices are good. I'm very disappointed. So many better restaurants in Edmonds. Anthony's is old and worn. The food is overpriced. I had the Scampi. You would think that a seafood restaurant could make decent scampi. Nope! It was overcooked and looked like it was stuck under a heat lamp. The crab cakes were decent but very small. Not worth it. My husband enjoyed the fish & chips so that's a bright spot. Service was extremely slow. The table had an old thick stickiness to it. I think we would have had a comparable meal at Denny's but my son got to pick for his birthday. We only had few. First time, I didn't finish a seafood dish. 2nd, the main course was another huge disappointment. I had ahi tuna. It taste awful. The tuna didn't cook right and hard to chew, not very favorable at all. It look like half cooked and half raw. It's fine if it cooked tasty. My dinner company had only few bites of his fish main course. He packed it to go because he didn't want to waste money although it tasty as bad. The cocktail drinks were okay. We continue to receive excellent service and delicious food at this Anthony's location. The view is stunning from the second floor where there is always plenty to see from beautiful sunsets to the ferry rolling in and out. Recently, we came in for our favorite dessert, Blackberry Cobbler for our 21st wedding anniversary after putting our kids to bed on a weeknight. We came in close to closing time but we would not have known it from the warm welcome we received. They made such a big deal of our anniversary and were so kind that it really made our night. We have toddlers and teenagers so we stopped in last weekend for the sunset dinner. It was at the perfect time and the right prices! We were once again impressed with the quality of food and customer service that goes above and beyond. This Anthony's will continue to be at the top of our list of places to go out. Anthony's has always been one of our favorite restaurants, so a natural pick for our anniversary. We normally go to the Everett location, however taking in laws out and they live in Edmonds, so tried that location. We had made reservations well in advance, so we were a little surprised to arrive on time (to a less than busy evening, which seemed odd for a Friday night) only to find our table not ready. OK, so we wait 5-10 minutes, no biggie, but found it funny that a couple came in asking about a table with no reservations and there appeared to be plenty of open tables, yet they too were told it would be a 10-15 minute wait...strange! Once seated, water brought right away and very nice waitperson introduced herself and asked what we wanted to drink. Handled that, asked for bread and after a short wait it arrived. We also ordered coffee and were surprised that after first cup, getting a refill took some time. Service improved over time, but no records set. Once order was taken we waited an unusually long time to see the side salads show up. BTW, I find it sad that with many of the entrees starting at $20 and higher, a basic salad is no longer included with the meal. I'm of the belief the Sunset dinners (which include both an appetizer and salad) are the only decent value left and they end at 6:00-pm. Long story short, found the overall value poor, the food good but not great, the service acceptable but not great and what struck me most was the quantity of open tables in a beautiful setting like this on what should have been a packed Friday night. Something amiss, at least with this location. We're not writing off Anthony's, however I'd be hard pressed to come to this one again. read more

We go to Anthony's frequently. I love the place. I realized I have only given them the one review, from a crazy Easter brunch. I love their crab cakes the best! I have tried crab cakes all over the US. Theirs remain at the top of my list. Had them as an appetizer a few weeks ago, followed by the trout. The trout is another favorite. Anthony's is resting on swiftly-fading laurels. After passable appetizers, all the individuals at my table received their different fish entrees--all featuring the same tired rice pilaf (which I am told has been a staple side for at least ten years) and a scoop of under-cooked green beans. This would be acceptable if the fish were excellent, but it's not--the sole was greasy, and had clearly spent some time under a heat lamp. Another person in my party ordered ahi (which debuted north of $30), and which arrived with no external char and cold on the inside. Again, the uninteresting presentation could be excused by excellent fish, but that's not what anyone at my table received. And at the prices charged, this becomes a real problem. The mediocre food was compounded by an inattentive and inexperienced waiter (who, when asked for a recommendation between ahi and rockfish stated that they are so similar it's hard to choose...). He also disappeared after the first drink service and skipped several opportunities to take another round, but did make sure to grab the signed check before our party left the table. In terms of decor, Anthony's has an unbeatable view but a truly beaten dining room. The decor is unimaginative and dated, and the fabrics smell strongly of years and years of exposure to the smell of burnt butter. I've dined at Anthony's for a few years and have never been this disappointed. Perhaps the empty dining room at 9pm on a Friday is proof positive that a new direction, and some new inspiration, is needed. read more

Wonderful seafood, one of the best I've had in the Seattle area. The dining area also offers a stunning view of the pier and sound. My family had coconut shrimps, fish and chips, fettuccine w/ clams, fresh oysters and a 4 course shrimp papaya salad, clam chowder & fried oyster Caesar salad + huckleberry sangria. Beyond disappointing. Right off the bat the young girl who works as a hostess on the Sunday we came was so rude. Very snippy at us and raising her voice over us. Terrible service, it wasn't even that busy and we were neglected. Our waters were refilled once and that was after asking many times. The workers all seemed like they hated working there and made us all feel uncomfortable. We will never ever go back to this location, the workers were condescending and beyond rude. Update 8/5/14 - After my review I received a phone call from the general manager who wanted to know more about our experience. This is a measure of good business to take feedback and make imrpovements. I respect that and as a result, we shall return next summer to try Anthony's again to see whether it has improved. Tired. That's the word which comes to mind. I have been eating here annually for over 20 yrs. this is my last. Yes the location is incredible which is why we retuned year after year. Views of the mountains are amazing. Our first server, Jake. Was attentive and great. He understood when we said it was too noisy and helped us move to a quieter location. Unfortunately the nice new server was, while nice, not so attentive. but the servers overall were fine. Why I say tired is just the whole scene is older. Some people like it and it appears the restaurant remains financially successful, I would speculate, due to it's location. The food is ok. not great. Expensive because of location. Let's say boring. Anthony's used to serve large Alaska Scallops which were fresh and maybe they still do in season. They made this one of their regular dishes and the scallops were small and the sauce was mediocre. The king salmon was cooked ok but none of the food wowed us. The Calamari appetizer had minuscule pieces, seemed the dregs. Used to be much larger pieces. Too bad. So, after 20+ years of eating here, I am going to look around to find better food for the kind of prices they charge. I suspect there are several. read more

I just could not believe what happened to us yesterday at Anthony's in Edmonds. A completely unqualified girl named Genevieve waited on us, if you can call what she was doing "waiting tables". We got there at 3:15 for some happy hour food and drinks. We were a party of 2 and the first people in the bar or patio area and she wasn't busy. I asked her a simple question about one of their happy hour drinks and she (without finding out what my friend wanted) left the table to go ask the bartender. I feel that waitstaff should know what all goes into a drink. She came back, the ingredients were satisfactory and we ordered a "six pack" of peel and eat prawns. It took AT LEAST 25 minutes to get the prawns. No wet napkin to clean our hands with :( The prawns weren't clean. I won't eat the "vein" that runs along the back of the prawn. This little tube is right near the surface, and when I was a chef, I took the time to remove the vein before cooking them because that "vein" is the animal's waste system, so if it is black and still present when put on the table, you are eating shrimp excrement, which is something I choose not to do. I cut mine down the back and fished the vein out myself. When done with the prawns, they just sat, ice melting into water and making a mess out of the table for much too long. We had to flag her down to ask her to remove the used dishes. I asked to speak to the manager... and I showed her what I was talking about. She was great. so props to Barbara the manager. She said she would take the cost of the prawns off the check, which she did. She said she would also talk to the kitchen staff We ordered calamari and she said that the fryer caught fire a few days prior, so they didn't have calamari. They also serve a salad with fried calamari on it, so that knocked 2 things off the limited happy hour. Why weren't we told this when we sat down? Why didn't they offer an alternative so that there was more to choose from? I asked for a dinner menu and Genevieve said they start serving anything off the dinner menu at 4. On my way to the bathroom to wash my hands I grabbed a dinner menu, but the girl at the front desk said they didn't start serving off that menu until 4:30. We then ordered clams and fries. No complaints. We were there from 3:15 to well past 5:45 and during that time, I drank 3 lemon drops. I didn't feel tipsy at all and informed her that my friend was driving and I didn't matter if I did get a buzz (which I did not), but by that time Genevieve stopped coming by our table, and also by that time we either wanted another round of drinks or we wanted to go and the remains of the clams just sat there the whole time without her bothering to come by and ask if we wanted anything else (which we did, because I was still hungry). And I know that they don't serve "regular strength drinks" during happy hour (which should be called unhappy hour) because the drinks are discounted. When she finally did find the time to grace our table I asked for another lemon drop. She informed me that she would have to check with the bartended to find out if I was cut off, because "We put two full shots in every drink" which I felt was crazy. I thought a "shot" was an ounce of liquor. I'm no lightweight but I really didn't feel the effects of what was supposedly 6 ounces of alcohol over a two hour period of time. She never came back.... We had to flag down a different server to ask for the bill because by then, I was feeling unhappy with the poor service and all I had to eat was half an order of clams and I wanted to go home and make something for dinner (which I did). My friend and I were just quietly talking. I wasn't loud or obnoxious, slurring my words or dancing on a table with a lampshade on my head. I showed no visible signs of being drunk. Besides, I hate the feeling of being drunk, so I never over-order drinks. I have eaten at this Anthony's a few times, but never received such poor service. Typically the service is excellent. This girl needs to have some more training. Barbara, the manager was great, but unfortunately, she was not our waitress. Either way... I am never going back.
