This restaurant is a cute casual local establishment with delicious seafood! It is located in Silverdale easily off the state road #3 with its own parking lot. You order at the counter then can sit inside (limited seating = only 2 booths plus a higher bar type seating) and a few tables outside. You can also order to-go. I ordered the Seafood Tacos Hawaiian Style with fried cod. I give it a 9/10 - it was really tasty but not 10/10 since I'm from Southern California and was just in Cabo Mexico last week where the 10/10 fish tacos are. They were still great t You could also get the tacos with fried shrimp and another option is Baja Style. Both Styles come with the white fish taco sauce. Baja Style is pico de gallo and Hawaiian Style is the pico de gallo with the addition of pineapple and mango. It was delicious! I also sampled what other people in my family ordered: 10/10 CAPTAINS PLATTER One piece fish, clam strips, two prawns, one oyster, fries, tartar and cocktail sauces 10/10 STEAMERS clams and mussels simmered in a delicate stew of butter, lemon, garlic, white wine and herbs Both were delicious! I also paid $3 for the sourdough bread and butter (yum!) - it comes toasted (which I didn't know since it doesn't say that on the menu) so specify first if you don't want it that way. My family got the frozen ice cream chocolate chip cookie sandwiches for dessert (like you buy in the grocery store) so what's not to love about that. A little disappointing was I wanted to get the Pacific Pan Roast after seeing the mouth-watering photos on Yelp but they didn't have it in their menu when I was there today. The fish and shrimp baskets are delicious! Super fresh and tasty. Cooked to a light crispy perfection. I love that they use canola oil instead of soybean oil, and use the much healthier oil instead of the toxic oils or blends that include things like soybean. I am not a big fan of chowder, because I don't like clams. They're just chewy, bouncy, rubbery, and often also taste like sand. I do however love the chowder here. It's buttery and creamy and full of clams. And since I don't like clams, I eat the potatoes and the broth, and I let the clams settle to the bottom. I know it's a waste but the flavor of the chowder is so good. The other thing that I really appreciate is that, until I get my hip replaced, I walk with a walker. The servers are so sweet and they bring my order out to my car, fresh, hot and ready. They usually take 3 trips to make it happen. The first trip out, they get my debit card, they go in and run the card, they bring the card back out, and then they go in and get my food and bring it to me. They seem to always provide the service with the most joyful attitud. And we have these great brief, but very positive conversations. Yeah, I really like this place for all those reasons above. What I'm not crazy about is the price. It's expensive. But you know, it seems everything is expensive these days. So I'd rather spend my money and get the quality of fresh and tasty at Kettle Fish, rather than spend my money on the stale tasting, overly greasy, and pathetic portions served up by some other restaurants in the area. read more

With a plan to go lightly on the calories I chose to have the one piece option and a small side of cold slaw for consumption in my hotel room just prior to attending a Zoom meeting. I request crispy fries and they were perfect! The fish was crisp yet moist, and seasoned just right while meeting all of my requirements for a Fish N Chip lunch paired with a local IPA from my fridge. The meal was reasonably priced; received a military discount; and the service was above-and-beyond my expectations. I even received a complementary sample hot cup on New England clam chowder as I waited for my order. My interaction with Jaden was friendly, and he should be commended for his service. First off, we like this place. It's really quite tasty and even craveable... until yesterday. The fish & chips are their staple. My experience with their fries is usually top notch. Last night they were horrible. Severly overfried to the point that the texture was compromised. It made them both soggy & hard-a tricky combo to get right They smelled bad as well, almost like nail polish remover. I realize that sounds weird but it's true. I don't know if they were fried in really old oil or the over frying played a part but it needs to be addressed asap. I don't know when tacos came to the menu but they need work. The sauce totally overwhelmed them. We paid for shrimp on them and we didn't even taste it, making the expense a total waste. This fish was passable. The experience almost made me angry. This place was delicious. A little pricey, but delicious. We had the fish and chips, clam chowder, and Manila clams in their white wine butter garlic sauce. The fish was crunchy and perfect. The clam chowder was one of the best I've ever had. The flavor was out of this world and it had more clams than potatoes (as it should!). They didn't cheapen it and you can tell the quality through the flavor and taste. The Manila clams in the white wine butter sauce were absolutely fabulous. This is why it is a bit pricy, because their seafood is fresh from the sea. Those clams were delicious with every bite, no sand, and no bad or close to going bad clams. AWARENESS: Back in the Bangor / Silverdale Washington area this past April for my sons re-enlistment, we turned to the Yelp app one day to find a lunch spot. NARRATIVE: The Kittlefish menu is pretty extensive so, if you arrive hungry, you'll end up ordering way too much to eat. On my initial order, I went with the half & half clams and oysters. I also ordered their lobster Mac & Cheese, but they were out of lobster so, crab Mac it was. My son liked how they made their Cioppino from scratch, right in front of you so, that's what he decided to have. As you can see by not only mine but other Yelp pictures and reviews, the portions, presentation and tastiness at Kettlefish are of the highest levels. My Clams, Oysters and Mac & Cheese were DYNAMITE! to say the least. In fact, I was so impressed with what I had already ordered and eaten, I went back and order their Fish & Chips just so I could taste and review those also. The Fish was fresh, lightly battered, hot and very tasty. The Chip's, which I always choose to soak with balsamic vinegar were also amazing (to me). My son hated them since they were soaked and no longer crispy. SCENE: If your in the Silverdale area. Kittlefish is located on the corners of NW Byron St. and Pacific Ave. NW, near the Clear Creek Park and Beach. EVIDENCE: Kettlefish doesn't look like much from the outside but once you walk through those doors, you'll be impressed by it's cleanliness, food selection, both in-door & out-door dinning options and most of all, the friendly and helpful custom service which seems to be the normal in small towns. Okay, pretty much every time that I go to Silverdale (my son, daughter-in-law, and two grandsons live there), I eat at KettleFish. In so many ways, I am mystified by this restaurant and can't quite figure out what is going on. Kettlefish by far has the best fish and chips in Washington state. I am a connoisseur of seafood and an experienced chef, myself, and as far as juicy fish battered in light coating (that is crisp and adds the counter balance texture that all great deep-fried-fish needs, without getting in the way of the delicious taste and texture of fresh seafood), Kettlefush hits, the mark almost perfectly every time. The french fries are also everything that you would want in a fresh cut french fry - crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they pair perfectly with the deep fried cod, which is what I always order - why change it if it ain't broke. The crazy thing that I can't understand is why this restaurant isn't absolutely packed, with a line around the building and more to go-orders than they can possibly fill in a timely manner? In the past, in an effort to preserve this treasure, I have hesitated leaving this review for fear It would become so busy that they wouldn't be able to maintain the quality, but now I'm just worried that it might go away because people haven't found the place yet. Also, and maybe because of this, the business is in one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen a restaurant occupy. I think a lot of people are used to having to go to a dirty hole in the wall to get great fish and chips (Fidalgo Island's Shrimp Shack, for instance, which isn't nearly as good) but this place is spectacularly clean and architecturally gorgeous. The light that the building lets in highlights the cleanliness and the open kitchen for all to see the preparation. The smell of the restaurant is delicious , a must for all great restaurants! Surprisingly, the prices are also extremely affordable. I'm older, so I don't eat as much as I used to - one piece fish for about $10 is all I need. While the food tastes good, the proportions are small and the prices are high. Honestly very very disappointed. We just got in from Arizona and I've been hyped as heck to get some Pacific Northwest clam chowder with a bread bowl. This potion size was astonishingly small. The bowl was the size of my fist and the "chowder" was super super runny. Proper chowder is THICC. My pregnant wife and I were going to share but that wasn't even an option due to the portion size. I went in to ask for a refund because of the potion and watery chowder and they literally refused a refund! They said we could have a gift card or she could add more chowder, I told her I was out of state and that we just wanted our money back and they REFUSED!
