We ordered the Tomahawk steak, and it was phenomenal--perfectly cooked, incredibly flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can tell real care goes into both the quality of the ingredients and the execution. Every bite was worth it. I came to Maynard's for a drink with friends. We sat in the bar for happy hour. Prices were good, and affordable. I ordered wine and a side of fries to share. Friends ordered: wine, cider, mule, and more cider. We also ordered the garlic artichoke dip type item, bread was so good and toasty. It was right around 2:30/3 so it wasn't very loud or busy. I was surprised at how spacious it was inside, including event space, a large, attractive bar, and tall windows with a view to the water. There's a great water feature as well, and an open kitchen. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a mix of lunch and breakfast items. The pesto pasta was delicious. The fish and chips were well done also. The only complaint was from those who ordered breakfast as they butter came out cold and did not melt on their pancakes or waffles. Not optimum as far as that went. Otherwise, a nice experience. The staff was very pleasant and attentive, from the moment we arrived. Since it was Valentine's night, they had a special dinner menu that had great options. With a fully stocked bar, I selected a delicious red Cabernet Sauvignon that was amazing!! The only reason I'm giving it 3.5 stars is that the food was lukewarm in temperature. Our side dishes were almost cold by the time we got them. I'm assuming because it was an expected busy day, but I wish it was at least good to enjoy while warm. Otherwise, a great restaurant if you're going to celebrate a special occasion. Very large dining area, fully stocked bar and an open kitchen concept which made the experience very fun!! Came for the early bird special... stayed because our taste buds and eyeballs refused to leave. We wandered in on a whim for their 3-course early bird deal and honestly? Best impulsive decision we've made since that "just one more pet" situation. The place is absolutely beautiful -- warm lighting, elegant decor, the kind of vibe that makes you want to pretend you know things about wine. Started strong with a blood orange drop that was so good I had another -- for hydration, obviously. Partner grabbed a beer and we settled in for what turned out to be a seriously delicious ride. For starters: the smoked beet salad with whipped goat cheese was smoky, tangy, and silky all at once (who knew beets could be sexy?). The Caesar salad? Classic and crisp -- no notes. Then came the New York steak, cooked to absolute perfection with a side of roasted veggies and garlic mashed potatoes that were so creamy and garlicky I briefly considered proposing to them. And now... dessert. A white chocolate mousse and flourless chocolate cake duo that made us question every past dessert decision. If licking plates in public were socially acceptable, we'd have done it proudly. The only downside? The service was sloooow. Like, "did they forget we exist?" slow -- which was surprising with just five tables in the place. Now this is what I like, from the food to staff, this place has it all, even the bathrooms are nice. once you walk in, your greeted immediately to the left with an open kitchen where you can see everything being prepared and cooked. That's outstanding, but how does the food look? How does the food taste? I can assure you that you will not be disappointed. I had high expectations and they were met and exceeded. The prices for what you get are fair and comparable for the area if not a little below value, I was very impressed with the plating and even more impressed with the way the food tasted. However, during our recent visit couple weeks ago on Saturday after Thanksgiving we were ignored for a long period after we arrived. After being finally seated, we waited over 21 minutes without even receiving water or menus, and we ultimately decided to leave. Maynard's has always been our go-to date night, nice dinner, celebration meal restaurant ever since they opened. We've always been greeted warmly when we enter and generally sat within a very short period of time if not immediately. Service is always very professional, attentive and knowledgeable which is rare in our county so very much appreciated! On most nights, the owner and chef can be seen chatting with customers, working in the kitchen or expediting orders, it's reassuring to see him still so involved. As for the food, I can't remember ever going and not getting the smoked beet appetizer, it's out of this world and I've never had it anywhere but here! Hubby is pretty loyal to the tomahawk while I venture around the menu and get anything from a pizza to the special and everything in between! It's a beautiful restaurant with stunning views, especially during sunset, and outdoor seating for our short summer evenings! Sigh... I wanted to like this place.. has potential. Buuuut the terrible customer service and slow slow service really ruined our lunch today. Sadly I won't be returning and won't be recommending this place to anyone. We wanted to treat my mom out for her 70th birthday and thought Maynards was a nice classy place. I made reservations and put in the instructions for a surprise dessert for her. I followed up with the host on the dessert and he said he would tell my server but she never got informed. So it was SO disappointing not to have her birthday acknowledged. Plus food took FOREVER to come out.. like 45 min! It was lunchtime on a Friday with plenty of empty tables. Returned for my wife's birthday with a couple of friends who had never been there before. We asked for our waiter to be Reggie who is outstanding. He made some suggestions regarding drinks with what we were having for dinner. We tried several things on the menu the pizza was flavorful and delicious. We even splurged on 3 different deserts the creme brûlée took our table by surprise. We all had a great evening and talked about it for several days. Our 1st dinner at Maynard's was 4 years ago, on our 1st date. My date at the time, had to politely spit the anchovies out into her napkin as they were unexpected and not pleasant. Overall we weren't impressed. After 4 years, we decided to celebrate and give Maynard's another chance. I ordered the prime rib dip sandwich. It was good, but there was a lot of bun and a bit lacking on the prime rib. The fries were good. My now fiancé ordered the Capricciosa Pizza. After one bite, it was apparent that the combination of flavors were not complimentary. The mushrooms added an odd beef fatty flavor to the entire pizza, offset by the Kalamata olives. Her exact question to me was, "do they taste this before they put it on the menu?" I tried a bite of the pizza and thought that it tasted old and unfresh. Service was great. I was reading reviews over the last few months and I'm surprised at how many were negative. I've been to Maynard's about 5 times now since they opened (which isn't a lot) but I've been 3 times over the last year and each time the service has been really good. The servers have always been good at checking in and the food has been on par with my expectations. I love their pesto pasta with blackened chicken and pecan tart for dessert. It's unfortunate that a lot of people have had less than desirable experiences, but personally I plan on coming back whenever I get a chance. read more

Chef Maynard himself is very friendly and involved in the everyday things around the restaurant. It is clear he takes pride in and loves his restaurant. He makes us feel welcome from the first and every time we have been here. Their cod n chips are our new favorite in Kitsap county (and anywhere else really). We also think they have the best burgers. And the best traditional chicken wings (I am a Tracyton PH addict). I normally dont like ginger but I love their ginger kissed wings. Try their cinnamon rolls which are better than Cinnabon's (which we don't have around here so I can name drop them). The interior has vaulted ceilings, is comfortably lit, and is utilized very nicely. The decorations are classy and not overbearing or gaudy. The landscaping is very modest, clean, and has a very nice view of both nature and Silverdale. Maynards loves their guests as they do lots of extracurricular events like free movie nights on the lawn, cooking classes, and parking lot car shows. read more

I like this place. We had dinner with friends on the patio on a sunny Friday evening and it was great! We were able to bring our dog and there were a couple of other well behaved dogs out there too. I'm a non-drinker so I always appreciate a few mocktail choices. I had pizza, the road to Maui. My boyfriend had the fried chicken. We both liked what we ordered. Our server was great too! The outdoor area is big and has a great water view. There was a 40th birthday party outside too but the area is so big that it wasn't an issue. This is our second time visiting Maynard's, for brunch and I will affirm that we were impressed with EVERYTHING! Initial greeting, host introduction, open kitchen concept and ambiance are spot on! There seemed to be a very comfortable and warm attitude to the place, which replaced the stuffy, condescending and high-brow atmosphere that was present during our first visit (2019). The food is savory, seasoned exceptionally well and plentiful. A special "thank you" goes to our table attendant Charmaine! Friendly, very attentive without being overbearing and knowledgeable about the menu. Charmaine made our visit very memorable. Back to the food: we started with one of the best crab & artichoke dips I have ever experienced.....and believe me it was an experience. This was not a reheated premade dish, I believe I tasted the "love" put into its creation. The freshest real crab (no seafood additives), a white wine cream sauce to die for and a healthy chunk of artichoke heart on top of this massively filled dish (beyond the artichoke mixed in with the crab)! The warm cut up soft bread was delicate with a sprinkle of oil and herbs on top. My wife had the Denver omelette ....perfection! Creamy, fluffy and soft without excess liquid on the plate. All the ingredients were fresh and tasty and not over processed with a bunch of additives. I took the chance of having the chicken fried steak. I say "chance" because most restaurants in my area use the cheapest, thinnest steak patty possible. Not Maynard's! This was a quality steak with tasty real sausage gravy on top! A huge step up in the area. Although this was a brunch date, my wife and I look forward to a future visit for dinner....soon! This is a difficult review to write because eventually the general manager made everything write and went above and beyond but it never should have come to that. We arrived thinking we had a reservation, my friend had called and made one and then called and re-confirmed only to find out there was nothing on the books. Luckily we were still able to be seated. Server arrived took our drink order and then we ordered an appetizer to share. We got smoked beets with goat cheese, yummy. Then ordered our meal. We both got a new to the menu chicken dish, word to the wise, don't order something they've never prepared before. An hour goes by and no food. I'm thinking to find the manager and all of a sudden he shows up at the table full of apologies and says he'll get our dinner plated for us. Time goes by and the general manager appears, nice young man full of apologies and says he'll go fix the problem. Another 20 minutes go by and by this time its almost 2 hours since we ordered. I've had enough and go find our server to tell her we've had enough. She says no you need food we can get you prime rib in no time. So about five minutes the prime rib arrived along with a huge baked potato which was underdone. We eat part of the prime rib, have a second glass of wine and the GM brings over our initial meal packaged to go. He also gives us a free dessert and comps our meal which was nice of him. However, it should never have taken that long to recognize the problem and fix it We'll go back when we visit next time to see if its better and hope this was a one off. read more

First time here. Got the early bird special, ordered the soup to start. However they had no more of the kind we ordered. we weren't notified and was brought another soup ... a soup I wouldn't eat due to coconut being in it. They did apologize that they didn't have the soup we all ordered and let me choose another starter in place of the soup. We all ordered chicken Alfredo which was very salty. The bowl/plate combination it was in was odd and tipped side to side when trying to cut the chicken so I just stopped trying... not a big deal just weird. Lastly we wanted more bread. Was told it was 99 cents for 4 pieces.... Perfect as there was 4 of us! it took a long time to bring to us only to find out there was only 3 pieces ... lol. We were looking for a good place to eat that was open. Knew we were in trouble when we saw the fancy book-like menu. Expected to be underwhelmed with overpriced food. Insofar as the cost, yeah it was a bit higher for a burger and fries than one would want to pay but the days of really good $10 burgers/fries are gone. Surprisingly the cod fish and chips was less than the burgers. The guys got Beast burgers. Cooked to their desired doneness and loaded with yummy bits and plates of fries. They also got bottomless lemonade. We gals got the cod and fries and we each got a mocktail called "The Renee". The cod was battered in their house batter. Tasty but nothing to make it stand out. It was crispy fried but not overly greasy. Batter adheres well but you can peel it away if that's your thing to cut calories. Fries were regular tasty fries some nice and crispy others not so much but again not soggy. The Renee is a combination of blueberry, mango and pineapple mixed with Sprite. The pineapple over powered the blueberry and mango Flavia completely but the mango added a creamier texture to the drink. Would I go back? Probably if I were in the area. It was a good atmosphere and a good friendly but not annoying server. Watched the chef gather yummy strawberries from their garden with herbs and such. Also great views of the lake. read more

While visiting the Pennisula side of town, my friend recommended this place to try because it's well known and "Kitsap Culinary Destination." Came here on a Saturday night and it wasn't busy. We got seated right away! The interior design and the atmosphere are great. Very open space kind of vibe. The service are great here, very attentive and come to check on us often! While looking at their menu, they have mix cuisine. A little bit of everything like a fusion which I like a lot. We got the garlic cheesy bread to share and my friend got a Manhattan on the rock and their Caesar salad to start out with. As for our main entrees, we ordered the Crispy Rock Fish and the Crispy Fried Chicken. Two of their popular dishes! Garlic cheese bread: it was alright but didn't have much garlic flavor to any. Caesar salad: pre made already cause the plate was still cold... that's fine but at least don't put the croutons on the top of the salad and put it on the fridge... it will make the crouton not crunchy but soggy. But the lemon for presentation looks great! Crispy Rock Fish: The presentation looks stunning but the taste is below average. When it first brought to our table. My attention is directly toward the coconut ginger rice. As an Asian, rice is one of the most basic thing to make or whatever. The rice on the rock fish, I don't know if it's the restaurant style or not. But it's soggy and undercooked or something. Don't they have a drink rice cooker or even if you cook with a pot?! It's whatever... the rock fish is crispy but it's the borderline of burnt! Not gonna lie, the fish don't have enough seasoning to it, tasted plain. Only thing that give the fish a decent taste is the topping. I would say that Ivar's fish & chip even taste better. Crispy fried chicken: one of my fav dish! Turn out to be disappointing, maybe it is not my day or something. Again, the plating is definitely 5/5! The fish comes with 5 pickles, side of Mac & cheese, a biscuit, and the chicken. The Mac & cheese was sit out too long and it turned cold. Biscuit was great, with the butter they offer. The fried chicken really disappointed me the most. Very common dish to make but it was not satisfying! It was very crispy but one thing is that it's mostly all breading... barely any chicken. Like I came here to eat chicken not breading. The hot honey and kimchi sauce is a decent combination for sauce over the chicken though. NGL, even my fried chicken taste better than that lol! Overall, this place. I can give a second chance but not at the moment. I can't get over this. I never eaten a side rice this bad before in my life until now... But this place atmosphere and service are above and beyond. As for the food, definitely need some improvement! It's a pretty nice restaurant around the Silverdale neighbor... one of the restaurant that many people looks up into it. We have visited Maynard's several times over the last year, and each time we left feeling very underwhelmed, especially after paying the check. But this time we went for our Anniversary, and I am finally writing the review it deserves. Maynard's is upscale Cafeteria food at Michelin Star prices. There I said it... It really saddens me because we have gone so many times hoping the service and the food would be better, but sadly we were disappointed yet again. It starts with the lukewarm greeting you receive at the door, moves to being seated at a dirty table, enduring the sarcasm and swearing from your server, the long wait for your food, and begging for the check because even though there are multiple servers standing around they are all too busy to help you. The food is just OK. But for the price you pay it should be brought to you with a song and a dance. The best thing this visit was the dessert (pictured)-Maynard's Brownie. It is served hot on a small skillet with ice cream. Delicious! The outdoor deck area looks much more inviting than the inside-maybe meeting friends there for drinks and dessert is the best plan. read more

My husband and I tried Maynard's today for the 3rd time and once again were not thrilled with the outcome. We tried lunch, because they advertise their beautiful deck which is truly beautiful! So we picked a nice sunny spot on the patio. Our waitress, one of the supervisors I believe (Elisha?) was a total blast. However, the food continues to disappoint when we come here. I had the pasta pesto primavera and it was extraordinarily greasy and the pasta was not cooked well. My husband had the poke bowl and it was OK but nothing to run home about. I did not plan on asking for them to take the food back, but our waitress quickly noticed us wanting to pay, but not take boxes for my pasta barely touched, so Elisha took it right back to the chef. We've sent two dishes back from here in the past, but kind of over sending back here so I appreciated that she recognized the miss and helped resolve. Wonderful supervisor there. The food also took quite a long time, but Elisha was great in letting us know that it was due to the rice in the Poke bowl, totally understandable.
