Cheaper than oak tree cafe, but also simpler and more straightforward. We did not have to wait when we came in on the later side of the brunch time, but I could see this place being very busy. It's pretty big inside and there's a small patio at the front that fills up fast. Food is ok. Meat tasted a bit stale and was lukewarm, but everything else was spot on. I'm luv this place. I come to it relatively often. It's clean, the staff is friendly good energy and the atmosphere is nice. Just don't ask the chef to make scrambled eggs. You'll end up with an omelet that's been cut in half. If you send it back and say "I want SCRAMBLED eggs, not an omelet". They send it back as a cut up omelet. FRUSTRATING. PLEASE. This is a nice spot along the main street in downtown Poulsbo. It's old fashioned and very small but kind of homely. The breakfast is exactly what I was looking for from a diner. Good eggs, nice sausage, great bacon, and good greasy hash browns. The biscuits were drier than Popeyes even with gravy, but I'll let that slide because the rest was so good. Went for lunch . The waitress was very short with us, and gave us minimal service. Handled the plastic drinking cup by the rim of the glass. Ughhh. Dropped our food snd was bothered when I asked for a tea refill. I had the club sandwich. Dry and tasteless with fries that tasted like they had been cooked long ago. Not worth a sandwich that was right under 20 dollars and an iced tea that was 3.59. The staff was more interested in getting their silverware rolled than giving service. Their menu is what brought us here. They have multiple options for breakfast sides, and that's what got me excited. I ordered the Mediterranean eggs with their steel cut oatmeal, plus toast. I enjoyed it. My man ordered scrambled eggs with pancakes. His pancakes were nice and chewy, but he loved the sausage links they served. They serve big mugs of coffee, which felt cozy to sip from. Service was fine after we were seated. They have an awkward entrance up the stairs (not the ramp doorway) and a bar at the front, but no one working in the front to greet guests so we stood there for a good while before the young lady noticed us standing there. We grabbed breakfast on a Monday morning at around 9:45 a.m., and no one paid attention to us waiting by their sign that said "wait to be seated." Cute retro diner themed restaurant. read more

OK, we'll start with the positives 1st. The waiter was very nice. I cannot begin to tell you how bad that food was. Ordered the three-piece fish and chips with Parmesan fries and my son ordered chicken strips tossed in buffalo sauce. The food came out the fish and chips were rockhard, frozen overcooked slabs of meat and took a bite. All you could taste was very very old grease the french fries were brown, not golden brown they had so much old grease layering them. My son who is 16 and has a stomach of steel and who I have never ever seen turned down any food, took one bite of his chicken strips and spit them out. They tasted just like my fish because they were fried at the same time with my fish and very very old grease we both took one bite of our food. Called the waiter over he was apologetic, but couldn't offer any alternatives and offered to give us the meal at half price. Which I thought was nice honestly though, they should've given it to us for free. It was obvious how bad the food was. I go to restaurants all of the time all over. This was the worst food I have had in literal forever stay away from this place I wish I had thought to take a picture so you could see how horrendous it really was. read more

I love supporting small businesses- but currently, this one isn't worth supporting. Awful. Should have read the reviews before going- 1 star followed by 5 star reviews??? Seems a bit odd. So many complaints and bad experiences similar to ours. Waited over 20 mins to be seated. Fine since we walked around to the surrounding cute shops. Once seated, our friend got water spilled on him and no new water was ever brought out to him. I had to remind waitress about my ordered Bloody Mary that took over 10 mins to receive- no apology for wait time or acknowledgment that it was definitely forgotten about. Restaurant was not busy by then at all. Looked around and I don't think anyone had food on their table. Bloody Mary tasted horrible- drank 1/2- one friend said it tasted like cocktail sauce, I thought it tasted like pickle juice. Didn't even drink half. Waited for almost an hour for our food. Waitress kept saying it was on its' way. When it finally arrived, our orders of biscuits and gravy were totally cold. Biscuits were tough and hard. We only ate 1/2 -because we were so hungry after waiting over an hour. The Monte Cristo was really sad and flat. I took one bite. So disappointing. No powdered sugar, only 2 pieces of toast. When I told the waitress about how disappointing the biscuits and gravy were, her response was that she "loved their biscuits and gravy- actually, EVERYONE does!" And then she just walked off. What?!? I've worked in the restaurant industry and would have never spoken that way to a customer- even if they were being a jerk-which I wasn't at all. Her response was rude, immature, and totally unprofessional. Understaffed, untrained teenagers in charge of the place. Overpriced, cold food - they made Denny's or IHOP look gourmet. I will never be back or recommend to anyone visiting or local. Meal should have been discounted and staff should have been professional and sympathetic. Overall, huge disappointment and embarrassment for our friends who were excited to show us their sweet town. I hope the owners see this review and train staff better- possibly hire some new staff and shorten menu and hours to improve quality of service, or this restaurant is in trouble. 11/28/25 I was excited to eat here because locals said it was a good bite, but I'm sad to say my experience was unpleasant. We (party of 2) got seated right away although it was busy from Black Friday crowds. Our waitress came by promptly to take our drink and food order. Upon getting our food we received the wrong dish and didn't get a dipping sauce for an appetizer. The food was alright after getting everything in order. I did enjoy the Clam Chowder as it had large clam pieces and not just tiny bits. Customer service could do a whole lot better. I'm not saying my waitress was particularly rude, but the whole vibe of the restaurant was hostile and off-putting. I was watching interactions between customers and other waitstaff. Waitstaff was not cordial. I understand that it was probably a crazy day for them but it seemed like all of them just gave up and did not care one bit. read more

Not greeted just seated, we felt uncomfortable sitting in the middle of the restaurant floor so the MANAGER (she helped us the whole time) sat us all the way in the back. My fiancé and I waited 10min for sodas when she was talking our orders, she was going to SKIP my fiancé ALL TOGETHER until he said "oh i will be ordering as well." The food was mediocre. We showed up a little after 8am when they open but be careful if going on weekend, I hear if you show up after they open at 8 then there is a line!! I had their Migas plate as a burrito. It was good except I asked for no avocado and they still put it in. Not bad but I had to pick it out. Otherwise burrito was good. Wife had the florintine bene and added ham. She enjoyed it. My wife and I ate here for the first time today. I proclaim the meal I had as the best breakfast I've ever had in a restaurant or diner. Ever. The place is decorated in a '50s style with the usual touches and augmented by a great selection of late '50s R&R over the sound system. There's an espresso bar in the front opposite the entrance. The place was about half full when we walked in so we were quickly greeted and shown to our table by the friendly host. Our server was even friendlier as she gave us our menus. I chose the Build Your Own (4-egg) omelet and constructed it from bacon, Swiss cheese, mushrooms and tomatoes. I chose red potatoes and sourdough toast as my sides. Coffee was brought to me inside of a cup the size of a, well, let's just say I've seen smaller tureens. Anyway--the food. The thick delicious omelet covered half the plate and was FILLED with long sections of perfectly cooked bacon, sliced button mushrooms, diced tomatoes. Now I'd expected grated Swiss cheese. Oh no, my friends, there was something like 2-3 long slices of Swiss cheese extending across the entire omelet. I've never seen such an abundance of ingredients inside an omelet. The red potatoes were served diced and grilled and filled the other half of my plate. My wife ordered the Green Light Garden Scramble which was which was a two-egg scramble with veggies (including spinach and zucchini) and cheddar, served with cut up fruit (pineapple, cantaloupe and honeydew) which she proclaimed delicious and, along with her toast, almost too filling. She gave me a taste--which I liked--but I had my own deelish egg monster to carve through and enjoy. Great staff, wonderful food with HUGE portions. Went to visit Poulsbo last weekend with a friend! We were looking for a breakfast place to eat and stumbled upon this cool gem! Cool 1950's diner vibe! Old pics on the wall, lots of space surprisingly inside (thought it was a tiny place!) lol. Our server was soooo nice and was patient! I ordered the chicken and waffles and when it came out, I was like...oh this is it?? But it turned out it was enough! You have a choice of 6 breaded wings or 3 tenders and I chose the tenders bc I LOVE tenders! When it came to the table, it was one waffle with the strips on top and a bit of powdered sugar decorated! I didn't expect to taste any syrup bc I thought I needed to pour and they had some syrup available on the table already. The syrup was just the right touch! It didn't make the waffle soggy but just the right amount of sweetness. I ordered then a side of hash browns and my server said it would take a while and in 5 seconds, another server came out with then fresh and piping hot! My friend got the hungry Viking breakfast which had eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon and some ham! It looked delicious! No wonder it's popular, I'd come back again! read more

The Green Light Diner in Poulsbo, Washington is a 1950s style diner. Originally this restaurant was MorMor Bistro & Bar, known for their PNW cuisine from 2003 - 2013. Signature dishes included Swedish Meatballs, Fish & Chips, and Garlic Parmesan Fries. I often visited for their Fish & Chips, which is one of my favorite versions of that dish, and upgrade to their Garlic Parmesan Fries. Fortunately, all those signature items remain on their diner menu. I'm not keen on 1950s style diner, themed restaurants, or interiors, but the food is much better than you will find in any real diner. These pictures are from a lunch visit, where I ordered their Reuben sandwich with a cup of their award-winning Clam Chowder. Both were excellent! If you're in Poulsbo and looking for a great casual dining experience, put The Green Light Diner at the top of your list. Serving Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. My family from out of town took our elderly mother to the Green Light diner today. They reported that the food ,service and ambience were very poor and they would never go again. The oyster starter didn't come with tartar sauce or lemon , they had to ask for it. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich was just OK, nothing to recommend. The waitress did not ask them if they wanted ketchup for their fries or sauce for their oysters . The iced tea had very little ice in it. They had to ask for additional cups of ice. But the capper was when Family took mom to the bathroom and went to help her wash her hands afterwards there was no water coming out of the tap! They looked underneath and found that both taps had been turned off. They turned them on and still no water. They had to take mom to the other bathroom in order to wash her hands. Family requested to see the manager , a lady came out with no introduction and asked if there was a problem. When told about the lack of running water in the bathroom, without saying anything, she turned to walk away and when Family said "wait a minute, "she said I'm going to go check on it right now. "There was no apology ,no explanation ,nor any assurance that the problem was going to be fixed. Manager never came back to talk to Family about their concern. Major health code violation. Additionally, Family noticed a man came in with an open tall boy beer in a paper bag , asking if they made bloody marys ,and staff didn't say anything about it the open bottle in their establishment. This overall gave the impression of slovenly , careless, and possibly even dangerous food service. We are so disappointed. read more

Dined here for the first time today. Buddy wanted an omelette and I ordered the spaghetti. We were promptly greeted by our server, brought our beverages and placed our orders. We waited and waited and waited and finally another server approached us and told us the chef is just cooking the spaghetti. After 30 minutes, our food was finally served. While my bud's omelette was sufficient, I took a a couple of bites of spaghetti and stopped shortly thereafter. The manager graciously came by our table and inquired about our experience and we were candid with her. She offered to discount the bill, but with a glacially slow kitchen and a product that was essentially uneatable, either one of us will be returning to this establishment. The gf and I went for breakfast while traveling and we were both disappointed with our meal. Food took about 30 minutes. Presentation was super underwhelming. Plates looked empty. Both plates also chipped along the sides. We both got a side of biscuits and gravy- mine came out cold. Gravy was bad- tasted like they used spam instead of sausage. I didn't get my side of sourdough toast. Serve told us there was butter and jelly on the table- there was not- couldn't get more because we never saw our server again. No one came to check on us until they brought the bill. I got the fried oysters- wanted to try a new thing- tasted bad to me but maybe I just don't like oysters- the real problem is my meal cost almost $30 and it only came with 4 oysters which was shocking considering the price (2 eggs, oysters, missing toast, and cold biscuit and gravy). Gf got 2 eggs over easy ( one was over easy, the other over hard), bacon, sourdough toast, and a biscuit with gravy. The table next to us also had several problems with their meal, missing cheese on their omelette. Didn't get their side of avocado. The manager came to speak to them but was pretty dismissive. So it gave us the impression that our issues weren't a one-off kinda thing. All and all we spent $45 for two bad meals that took too long. If we went back to this town we would not go here again. Okay, so we were in Poulsbo and hungry! We checked Yelp and saw the Green Light Diner had a rating of 3.8. Read the reviews and thought we'd give it a try anyway (usually we end up in the 4.0 range). What a pleasant surprise! The diner is set 50's style and vintage in decor. We were promptly greeted at the kiosk by a very friendly woman who took my cell # to text me when our table was ready (about 10 minutes). Upon sitting, the same woman at the kiosk came by to see what we wanted to drink (they were slammed, so she was multi-tasking). Yes, most of the reviews were correct for food wait time. When we saw a deck of cards at each table, we figured that was to pass the time until our food got there. Once we dealt the cards, the waitress came by to take our order. We played a few hands of cards and then our food arrived. The waitress thanked us for our patience, was courteous and very sweet. The meal? Oh my! A 4-egg omelette with your choice of ingredients, toast and choice of a side (hash browns were excellent). ALL at a very reasonable price of under $15! I ate about a third and took the rest home. Bottom line: if you're hungry, not in a rush, enjoy sitting and chatting a bit or playing a hand or two of cards, and looking for an excellent breakfast that won't break the bank, you will be well rewarded. The food was delectable! We got NY stake and eggs, and Smoked Salmon Benedict with gluten free bread. And I can tell you - these dishes were the best I have ever tasted. The stake was perfectly cooked and seasoned and it just melted in mouth. The Benedict usually doesn't taste good with gluten free bread, but this was the exception. The salty lox, sweet hollandaise sauce, capers and tasty gf bread made one perfect Benedict! Respect to the chefs. Also, it was a perfect 50's-themed diner, with a great service! Not bad! It is a Monday. We went early because we heard the place was packed on weekends. There was still a steady flow of customers for a Monday. The pancake and eggs were delicious. My friend ordered a waffle with sausage. My friend is a big guy. So, when he told me that he was full from one waffle...I was amazed. Forget about refills. The waitress brings you out a big glass of soda or juice with little ice. 2-3 bussers were there waiting for requests from customers. I love staff who pay attention to me at a restaurant. We came Saturday 11/15. It was a big party 6 people, 4 adults 2 kids. The waitress was very hostile from the get go. I asked what kind of coffee they have with a bar that has at least 20 torani syrup bottles, you'd think they'd at least know what kind of beans they use for the coffee, the waitress said umm drip coffee. I ordered the hungry platter because it had a bernaise sauce. It definitely was a sausage gravy. Definitely sucks, I know making bernaise is very difficult and if you can't make it don't advertise it. My mom ordered a large clam chowder which was the last thing to come, which was also very confusing because everything else everyone ordered came quickly which was an omlette, a breakfast platter, pancakes, a sandwich with a small soup. So I'm sure they're not making fresh clam chowder in the back so how come that came last? It also had a bay leaf in the soup. Gross. My sister ordered a fruit cup for my nephew that never came. Definitely don't waste your time and if you want a good breakfast just spend the few extra dollars and go to Oak Table in Silverdale. Very very disappointing. Definitely won't return here.
