Flavor bomb Sunday morning! My husband and I decided to give Mai Maui Cafe a try today in Silverdale for takeout. We wanted to try breakfast but also reaaaaaallllly wanted poke for later when we watch the game so we placed a pretty big order! I had the Kalua Pork Benny. When I tell you this Kalua Pork made me feel like I was back in Kona... 10/10 for flavor, cook, no dryness, perfect amount of hollandaise, and perfectttttly medium poached eggs. My husband got the Smoked Salmon Benny which was just as fresh and delicious. For our poke we each got a 3 protein bowl, salmon, ahi, eel... He got some spicy options I got the Hawaiian options. Super packed on top of white rice with furikake. It was quite a bit of a wait even though no one was there when we walked in a little after 9, I think we were one of the first customers of the day so no worries for that. If you have kiddos plan ahead as it took about an hour to get our food but it was very very worth it and they're brand new so give them some grace. Lovely customer service and they got packed after we arrived so I'm sure they'll get into the rhythm soon. 1000/10 recommend giving them a try! read more

I was happy with this place! They have only been open for 1 week. There was a pretty consistent flow of people during our visit. Seating is for tables of 2 or 4. The cute artwork on the wall was done by her family. We ordered coffee, Kalua pork eggs Benedict and Kalua pork moco Loco. The food is so delicious! Perfect portion sizes and very reasonable pricing. I was looking forward to trying the Ube waffles, but her waffle machine was broken. She will be replacing it soon, so it will be back on the menu shortly. I did request a specialty coffee be made with the Ube mascarpone sauce that is served with the waffles. I liked it, gave some feedback and hopefully that will be on the menu in the future! I hope the owners read this review and take this seriously, because something is very wrong. When we arrived, the cafe was 2/3 empty. It was not, by any means, busy. Server took 15 minutes to take our order. Our first entree arrived 45 minutes later. Our second entree arrived 15 minutes after that. We had to ask twice for waters. Only received one set of silverware. The loco moco was delicious and piping hot, and the poached eggs were cooked perfectly. But for an hour wait, not worth it. We took the second entree to go because at that point, we needed to bounce. Other (only 7!!!) people also waited about the same. I heard a table next to us had 2 drinks missed and also didn't receive enough silverware. The kitchen staff were 3 young teenagers who looked like deer in the headlights. The server, who was the only adult present, apologized for the wait, but then blamed the kids sarcastically for not cooking rice that morning, which seemed embarrassing and unprofessional. I felt bad for the kids, a couple of them seemed like they were about to burst into tears. I was hoping for some Hawaiian coffee options, but the menu was disappointingly plain, so I didn't order any. There was a pastry case that was totally empty. Damn. Interestingly there was an advertisement for free spam musubi in exchange for a review that you have to show them. I'm guessing that's why there are so many good reviews, unless I showed up on a rare terrible day. After all of this, no discount was offered, so I paid full price ($45). I've heard great things about the breakfast, especially the ube waffles, so I brought the littles on Sunday. We were greeted right away and chose a cute table with enough seats for all of us. The service was a little slow, but since there was only one, it's understandable. The server was very sweet and brought waters and menus as soon as she could. We ordered the spam Benny, kalua loco moco, ube waffle, acai bowl and 2 watermelon Italian sodas with popping boba and whipped cream. The only complaints I have are that my egg whites were undercooked on my loco moco and the ube marscapone didn't have enough ube flavor. In spite of the little hiccups, we will be back. read more

The atmosphere is great but the first day we went, Tuesday July 21st, they were not open but it was within business hours. I went back on Wednesday July 22nd with my Grandson for a Latte and he got an italian Soda. Around $15 with a tip of $2. I didn't buy food but what was being served looked really good. Service, not so good. I ordered my latte and my grandson ordered his Italian soda about 5-10 minutes later. He got his drink and I still had not got mine. I waited another 10-15 minutes so 20-25 minutes from the time I ordered. When she did get to it I watched her go to the coffee bar, grab a lid, put the lid on the cup, then brought it to me. So the Latte was made, she just forgot to deliver it. I had also asked for a glass of water, 15 minutes later I had to ask again. Ill try it again just to see if its the same or not. read more

The Ube waffle was really good but the wait was too much to get our food and it was really expensive.

I had the local deluxe with some ube mochi waffles and a Mexican mocha. I loved the taste of everything. First time having mexican mocha it wasn't too hot to where it burned my tongue. It was quite comforting, tasted like hot chocolate. Wasn't overly sweet and couldn't really taste the espresso(which is what I prefer). Loved the topping of the seaweed and sesame seeds on top of the rice, the jammy eggs were well marinated, and the teriyaki spam was good. The ube mochi waffles were pretty good too. I will say that the food was more on the luke warm side and I wish that it was served hot and that I would like for Mai Maui Cafe to have more items on there menu for lunch hours like sandwiches or poke bowls. First impression~ SUCH a cute place! Bathroom is adorable AND has dispensing "toilet cleaner" next to it- never seen that before but appreciated it! Second~ Amazing staff. So friendly, welcoming, and caring! My shy daughter actually asked to be picked up and she was. She was also brought a little snack since our food took a bit longer than expected. It was a nice and cozy restaurant. Loved the decor that made me think of back home in Hawaii. Service was excellent! You could feel the Aloha spirit! The menu was limited. My daughter and I ordered 3 things. First of all the Kalua Loco Moco was awesome, especially when you order extra gravy. They make their own savory Kalua Pig. They made it with poached eggs which was a twist, but it worked. Next, the Ube Mochi Waffles. I was disappointed. You could taste the mochi in the waffle, but I guess I was expecting an ube syrup. What I did not like at all was the blueberries on top! In my opinion it just didn't go with the mochi waffles. Last, we ordered the Açaí bowl. Acai was great with the different fruits on it. However, there was no FRESH strawberries, they used frozen strawberries and blueberries should come with it at no extra cost. I agree with everyone that the service was great! Very nice people. The Kalua loco moco I wish came with two standard over easy eggs instead of two hard poached egg. Or give us the option when ordering. Overall the taste was good. The fish in the poke bowl lacked flavor and seasoning. It also had an odd taste. Definitely not fresh poke but instead previously frozen, which is fine. I know lots of places that have previously frozen tuna but make amazing poke. Mixing the whole bowl together made it palatable.Definitely not worth the price for the quality and taste. I do wish they had better quality /clean ingredient syrups for their Italian sodas. And used all the same brand syrups but that's just me being picky. The Italian soda that I did have was pretty bitter but I drank it anyway. For a simple menu, you need to make sure everything is a home run when it comes to flavor. I would recommend revamping the poke. But that's coming from someone who grew up in Hawaii. It may however, be good enough for the people in Kitsap. I'm still debating if I'm going back to try the ube waffles and other menu items.
