Great quality seafood dishes, cooked pretty well. Crab Louie salad had a generous helping of crabs and a variety of veggies. Bouillabaise was not bad, if a little tart. Captain's Platter Seafood Combo had nice variety (and very well fried fish and potatoes!) but would have liked to see more of each kind of seafood in the mix. The place is very clean and prides itself on sustainability, so it's somewhat high-end as far as fish and chip joints go. While you'll pay a little more for dishes here, you're likely to find something to your liking. read more

Reminded me of Ivar's. Same kind of fast food set up. I had the 2 piece cod, a bowl of chowder, and the fried shrimp. The cod was lukewarm in the middle and I was eating it on the way home. The breading on the shrimp does not stick. Try rice flour before the dredge in liquid and breading. The chowder reminded me of Red Lobster. I am not a fan of the sand in the clams. I know they are clams but the graininess in each bite was unpleasant. Get better clams. read more

I almost don't feel it's fair to give a review on a place when I only had a chance to try so little of their menu items. Ordered a single piece of cod with some chips on the side as well as an order basket of fried oysters and fry's. Food was fried quickly as there was only one order ahead of mine. The fish is a good size, as well as the fried oysters. Came with what I would describe as a normal portion of fries. The portion was not too big and not too small. If comparing this to the other (seafood) fast food joint in Silverdale, this one is a little bit more pricey but food is better quality. Service was pleasant. Yes, this is the clam chowder you've been looking for. On our first visit, we planned our second visit. We tried the Captain's Platter to get an idea of all the goodies they have. Each protein was fried perfectly. The cod was so light and flaky. Their shrimp had the perfect chew. The clams had a delicious crunchy breading and the oyster was meaty. The french fries even stole my heart; made even better by their homemade garlic malt vinegar. We also shared the Shipload of Chowder which is the consistency and flavor I am always looking for in this PNW classic. Other fresh goodies: enjoyed a root beer float that tasted of fresh sassafras, added fresh cod to our clam chowder and it was definitely the right choice, I must get the recipe for their fresh-made tartar sauce- there's something addictive about it, and we got to enjoy it all with fresh air on their peaceful patio. Next time: Planning on going back on a Tuesday for tacos and will get a local hard cider to go with. And we want to visit when it's cold to try the other soups. Got a Grubhub order the other day. Spent $50 just to get a seafood stew and a rock hard roll. The seafood stew was apparently supposed to have saffron in it but I could not find a trace. Oh my gosh. This place should be called Butterfish. It's delicious! I was curious since it was a bit pricey but now that I've had a taste, take my money! There's minimal seating so if you're out on a date, make it a car date or a picnic. But eat it while it's hot because it's totally worth it. This place is a fast casual seafood place. I tried tried the fried combo platter and the chowder and the fried clam was my favorite. The other items were crispy and nicely fried but a little dry for my taste. I think for the low price point the quality of the oysters and fish have to make some compromises. Been wanting to try this place for a while, but it's a little out of the mall area, so we had to make specific plans to go there today. I love fish, but hate that fried fish typically comes with fries. Kettlefish lets you order clam strips or cod only, which is exactly what I did! I also got coleslaw, and shared some of my husband's crab mac and cheese. Clams were great and the cod was pretty good. I'm not sure how I feel about the batter-which has a cornmeal type texture. The crab mac and cheese was pretty good, I like more spice in mine so I probably would try something different next time. The coleslaw was pretty bland. Bummer. I won't order that again. The food and service were good and I appreciated the options on the menu, so we'll definitely be back. Be aware that there are only two tables and about 6 counter seats. My husband and I had high hopes for this place and were very disappointed. The place is cute and in a good location but the food is not good at all. Probably the worst fish and chips we've had. It was very obviously frozen. The breading was a weird Panko crust with no flavor. The fish was tough and chewy. The o Lu thing we liked were the fries. If you don't care for the overbattered and heavily fried fish/chips that you get at most places try this unique way that this establishment serves . Particularly good for those of us senior citizens who can't really tolerate the heavy battered food. Chowder is excellent as is all of the menu and portions are very generous. The fried oysters were fantastic! I was a big of everything, and the service was very friendly. My only complaint is the tortillas on the fish tacos were not great, but I'm from Arizona and might just have too high of standards for tortillas. The contents of the tacos were better than any fish taco I have had in Arizona so I was still very happy with them. If I'm ever back in Silverdale I'll be sure to come here again. read more

I have eaten here twice with mixed feelings about the experience. Setting is nice and located in a good location down by the waterfront but was disappointed by the bouillabaisse which did not seem to have near as much seafood in it as shown the menu picture, especially for the price, which seems excessive. I also had a bowl of clam chowder which seemed too small for the price but was about 3 stars flavor-wise and once again seemed skimpy on actual clams. My second visit was just fish and chips to go and this was a better than the bouillabaisse However the Tides Tavern fish and chips are still better. Kettlefish seasoning seems bland and the coating is not anything to write home about either. Not sure they will last if their choices do not improve. read more

Delicious spot with casual dining. The Captain's platter and oysters were delicious. Generous portions. We also had the crab Caesar Salad and it was so fresh! Bathroom had changing table and was ADA accessible. Definitely a must visit next time we are in Silverdale!! read more

Love this place! Check out the pictures posted. No offense to Skippers, but this place knocks it away (and doesn't mess your stomach up). With the bad first, too much pepper in the clam chowder. I'm not even that picky. The fried oysters, clams, cod, prawns and fried were WAYYYYY TO GOOD and CRUNCHY! sheesh! Mac and Cheese lobster was good (but lacked the lobster and crazy what the cost is for a few thin strands of meat). Ordered this to go and they even have malt vinegar packets! #win! Just do yourself a favor and go! You would think being on an island in the middle of the Pacific you would be able to go to a restaurant and enjoy fresh fish but that is not the case. On a recent visit to the PNW I was specifically looking for fresh seafood (restaurant, not market) and Kettlefish stuck out on my Yelp search. I cannot vouch for the fried entrees because all three of us in our party ordered one of their stews. I ordered the Cioppino and a craft brew and WOW. The Cioppino was amazingly fresh and really hit the spot. Not a small portion by any means but not overly done to require left overs. The food was cooked to order and out in minimal time.
