I've been here a few times before but my recent experience today was not what I was expecting and quite disappointing to be honest. My husband and I had ordered the same thing. Our portions though were quite different this time around. We ordered the loco moco and it was more a bowl of literal gravy than anything else and the smallest scoop of rice buried deep underneath all that gravy. This is actually one of our favorite dishes here so it felt like we were served soup. My husband noticed that the patty was cut in half and mine was as well and so what they did was serve one portion to two people. I think that's a pretty cheap thing to do. Not sure if we will be coming back. I don't appreciate feeling cheated paying for two meals but getting really one. read more

Went here early on a Saturday morning when they opened. This joint was quiet and service was great! We ordered the biscuits and gravy plate and the bacon and eggs plate. The biscuit was really good but the gravy, which is homemade, lacked flavor. The sausage Pattie's were super thin and not to tasty. The over medium eggs were overcooked and the bacon was like eating jerky! But I would recommend the hashbrowns, they are freshly grated, crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. A little pricey for a breakfast that was not up to par for the price they charge. Don't think we will be returning. read more

I don't give bad reviews often but this was so disappointing. I got the dinner seafood basket. Menu on yelp says it comes with 2 fried oysters,fish, clams, and Tempura shrimp. There were no oysters, the fried shrimp was not tempura battered, and the calms so tough I couldn't bite through them. The clams were honestly the toughest I've ever had. I could not eat them. No salt on the fries, so if you order from here and want salt request it while ordering. The only thing we received that was pleasant were the chicken tenders. So disappointed with the Loco Moco They serve a hamburger patty not even close to a traditional Hawaiian Loco Moco. The sauce is ok but they poor so much, it over powers any other taste. Great little diner in a great location! Mina's has a huge menu, offering not only all-day breakfast but also a full lunch menu. But not only that, they have a large selection of Korean / Asian foods as well - such as teriyaki, katsu, and stir-fries. Pretty much everything Mina cooks is good. Today we shared the chicken katsu as well as a BLT. Both were perfectly made and very tasty. One of the things I like about the katsu is it's clearly breaded freshly, with a nice thick layer of breading. The BLT was about the best BLT around, if you like a truly classic BLT - not some snotty interpretation - just lots of super-crisp bacon, large tomato slices and crunchy lettuce. Best BLT I've had anywhere in Port Orchard. Prices are reasonable, service was really good, and there's a terrific view of Sinclair Inlet from the tables. From an actual person who is from Hawaii... Apparently today is the first day they opened, and I happened to walk in and who would have thought Port Orchard would serve local (Hawaiian) food. So lets break it down: This place actually serves a lot of diverse dishes, not mainly Hawaiian Food. I only ate one item off the menu and it was the Loco Moco as thats what I love to try when a place says they have Hawaiian food. Overall? The Loco Moco was great! Actually quite surprised. It was hot too (temp wise) gravy was great and eggs cooked to my liking. Didnt give any mac salad when I ate but it was fine. Try it with Tabasco (red) and you are set. The best teriyaki in Port Orchard! The beef teriyaki especially is amazing. And their breakfast is so good too! Chicken fried steak, eggs Benedict, fluffy pancake, all so good! This is our new favorite place. It's a small shop so service can take an extra minute or two, but not slow by any means. Love that they have a variety of foods that are all good, and nothing is too salty, my biggest pet peeve at restaurants. We'll be coming back to try out everything on their menu. Oh dear God what an odd little place. I don't know whether to give them one star because the overall experience sends you away shaking your head and saying, "never again", or three stars because they were trying to make it right. They got two. Rolled in about 5:00 p.m. with 3 friends. None of us had ever been to Mina's. The place is on the side of a strip mall, it's tiny and it's empty. Gives me a bad feeling even before I'm out of the car. Immediately I'm struck by the barren décor of the place. I mean it's one rung above a prison dining room. Waitress brings us menus. They are printed with black ink on blue paper, reading them could hardly be more difficult. Then...OMG it's breakfast, lunch, Korean AND Asian Fusion?? WTF? Who thought food from ump-teen different cultures or cuisines was a brilliant business model? Somehow the four of us settle on one Teriyaki entrée or another. Our choices would come back to haunt us. The minutes roll by, drinks come fairly quickly. Everything else...slooowly. Very, very slooowly. Finally our salads show up. Yup, ya get your typical green salad that you would get at any teriyaki joint, that's iceberg lettuce with a piece of carrot and honey-mustard dressing. I becomes evident that there is ONE employee in the whole place. She's hostess/waitress/cook/busser/you-name-it. Nearly an hour into the process we learn that they have no rice cooked so our dinner is being held hostage by the rice cooker. This could have been explained at the start. "Folks, you're welcome to order any Asian entrée but we have no rice tonight. May I substitute something for rice"?? But our Amazonian hostess/waitress/cook/busser/etc (though pleasant) is not especially communicative. In the mean time a couple of other people wander in. One obviously a regular. He orders (patty melt), eats, and is gone long before we ever get our food. Thankfully we get drink refills but the minutes are ticking off, we are well past 6:00 and there's no dinner in sight. Somewhere around 6:30 the sound of chopping is heard from the kitchen. C'mon, the kitchen is mere steps away, you can hear everything. One of my companions says, "sounds like someone might be chopping up teriyaki chicken". Moments later WHOMP there it is! One of the BIGGEST plates of teriyaki chicken I've ever been served. I wonder if our hostess/waitress/cook/busser hasn't doubled up on the food as a way of apologizing for an hour and a half wait for a dinner that any teriyaki joint could crank our in under ten minutes. The chicken was actually good. I'd try it again (except I am NEVER going back to Mina's). The fried rice was a sad mess. Over-fried in places (as in burned) and containing what looked like almost every vegetable in the kitchen. We ate some and took the remainder to go. How in bloody Hell Mina's has a 4-out-of-5-star rating I'll never know. Maybe the secret is to order breakfast, or to order the daily special, or a burger. Anyway when you go there...if you go there...take someone who's a good conversationalist, you'll have time to fill... and make sure your schedule is open 'cause you might be there a while. Or perhaps cut a deal with your server when you place your order. Something like, "the food's here in 15 minutes or we're walkin". read more

I have a painfully restrictive diet and when I'm traveling I crave fresh, good food which is nearly impossible to find. We went to Mina's with low expectations with the "I'll just have some coffee and toast, I'll be fine..." but was BLOWN away by the great food. It's REAL food, not the (way too common) freezer to fryer fare offered for "brunch" almost everywhere. The home fries were DREAMY. The coffee was good. The teriyaki katsu beef was STUNNING. I could not have been happier. The food I saw co ing out of the kitchen looked great, too. The super friendly and welcoming service was the cherry on the cake of my morning. It took over an hour for our food to come, I understand being short staffed but it took 30 mins to get our drinks then another 40~ to get our food. The customer service was okay, below par if anything. The waitress accidentally spilt a juice on one of the people I was eating with. They were friendly though. Even though the food took a very long time to get there my sandwich wasn't that great, there was more vegetables than meat when it should be the opposite. It does have nice paintings though! Of all the little "Mom and Pop" teriyaki places I've tried in Port Orchard, Silverdale and Bremerton since moving here from Hawaii, Mina's is the best! Her chicken katsu is EXCELLENT, being SO tasty that I wonder if she marinates the chicken first. Huge, meaty, boneless thighs have a great crispy coating. Spicy pork teriyaki and her mac salad are other favorites. Her homemade Kim chi (either cabbage or cucumber) are also very tasty. For a small cafe, near the water now (yay!) Mina's is back. This is a owner who cooks with heart. For a simple breakfast, lunch or dinner- this is a great place to go. We found Mina's Cafe yesterday. I am thinking I may go back today again. Very good! We tried the teriyaki pork and chicken. Both were delicious. Also tried the chicken katsu - it is better than I have had anywhere in the area. They make it fresh with thigh meat instead of breast, so it is juicy and tasty! They have a good egg roll also. Everything tasted fresh. The only slight let-down was the Mac salad - it was fresh, but a bit sweet for me. I am excited to try there breakfast items. Bonus: they are open on Sunday! read more
