My husband and I were in the area and decided to stop in for some drinks. Lucky for us, our wonderful bartender, Tabitha, let us know that it's happy hour (on Sundays happy hour is from 3-10pm). We ordered the old fashioned and I asked for a French 75, but with vodka. Tabitha let me know that it's called a French 76, which I will keep ordering. Since it was happy hour we decided to have dinner as well and my husband got the burger and I got the chicken strips and fries. The burger was perfectly cooked, but note, on happy hour does not include fries. That was fine though because my chicken tenders came with more than enough to share. My chicken tenders were juicy and very large, the happy hour portion with the fries is large enough to take some home, definitely worth it! (No picture of food because we inhaled it lol) Let's talk sauces - we had the honey mustard, buffalo, and blue cheese and they were all 10/10. Yes, we were a fairly large group, but there was never an issue in the past, so imagine our surprise when the manager or shift lead greeted us in a condescending manner because we hadn't called ahead. Again, more than a year of eating here and it was never an issue. If we could not be accommodated, or had to wait this could have been communicated to us as proper adults, not in the way this was handled. When the area had the first taste of spring, we decided to stop by the Victor tavern for some food with our dog (they have a patio where you can bring them). You will want to check in first. The insides look nice and comfortable, what you would expect for a tavern. Service was outstanding. They have some good beers on tap, so we order a pitcher of a Wit Beer and a hummus plate. The hummus was great and we loved the peppers than came with it. For my meal, I had the Rodeo burger. This came with bacon, cheddar cheese, an onion ring and BBQ sauce and was absolutely delicious. Went on a Monday for Happy Hour, which of course it was very quiet in there. The happy hour menu was very good $10 cocktails and $9 wine, $18 for the crab dip which was 10/10. The service was amazing waitress was checking up on us often. Only thing to note is there is a 20% service charge, it is not hidden and the waitress told us about it when we sat down. So...hubby & I arrive about 3pm on Sunday hoping to enjoy a nice Sports Bar experience including their indoor bowling, shuffleboard & pool. Scratch that because a private kids birthday party has that cool area taken. So we wait at the hostess stand to be seated in the bar. And we wait & wait & wait. No acknowledgement or welcome. This should have been our cue to leave but we had already circled the block and found parking so figured we should go ahead & wait. When finally acknowledged we were offered a bad table near the main flow of traffic & near the front door that would give us a blast of cold air everytime the door opened. Asked for a different table but was informed it wasn't "in the bar". Their floor plan is messed up. It 100% looks in the bar. Order HH drinks of a Texas Tea & Paloma. Small glasses and the Paloma was just a margarita not a Paloma at all. Ok. Onto the food. We decided to order 3 HH items to split. Wings, calamari & The Victory Cheeseburger. Wings were adequate. 9 of them. But not enough wing sauce on them. Small portion of calamari questionably served in a metal cup that if you don't take them out could make gummy & not crispy. Stopped in for a bite and a bev. Love the atmosphere and offerings. Big TV in the dining area keeps it casual but still sophistocated, not distracting at all. I liked the chopped salad and was perfect to share. The portion seems generous. The calamari is a tad overcooked. I liked the mama-lil peppers but didn't like the dipping sauce which seemed fake and processed. I'm a sucker for polenta bites and will go for them every time. These were good, next time I'll hold the parm. Service was slower than I thought it should be for a relatively empty space, but it worked for us. Came here for happy hour on a Friday night, sat at the bar and was greeted right away. Ordered some spicy calamari and artichoke dip. The spicy calamari had a really good texture to it and was a combo of rings and tentacles which is my personal favorite. The artichoke dip was not what I was expecting and made with almost a pimento cheese base? It didn't say much on the menu other than it was served with tortilla chips which were a good texture. Not a fan of the artichoke dip North end daisy - good! It's a pretty restaurant. Some tv's for sports. There's a bowling lane or two upstairs but you don't hear it downstairs in the restaurant. A friend and I went here after work for happy hour and they had a great selection of alcoholic beverages as well as a few nonalcoholic options for anyone that is sober. We also took advantage of their happy hour appetizers, the spicy calamari was our favorite by far! Came here on a Saturday afternoon for happy hour with a few friends. I was pleasantly surprised that there was a ton of room for walk-ins considering how busy Edmonds can get especially during summertime. Indoor seating was in abundance, however outdoor patio was fully booked. This tavern is spacious! There's a center bar area and a lot of seating areas perfect for large parties. There's are also bowl and shuffleboard to add to the list of activities at this establishment. They have a decent happy hour menu we decided to order a few plates to share. We ordered the fried polenta bites, spicy calamari, and salt & pepper fries. We also ordered the mac n' cheese from the regular menu. For drinks, I ordered the Supreme and a Sazerac. Our drink orders came out first. The supreme cocktail is a tasty mix of rye, vermouth rouge, maraschino, absinthe, and bitters. The absinthe was not overpowering and gave the drink a nice lift. The sazerac was perfectly made and had the right amount of absinthe. The food all came at once, which was perfect. The polenta bites were crispy and came with a delicious anchovy aioli. The spicy calamari was delightful and not too spicy with mama's lil hot peppers. The salt & pepper fries were just the standard fries with added pepper. Our favorite was the mac n' cheese from the regular menu. The campanelle with white cheddar, smoked gouda, and herbed breadcrumbs was a good flavor and texture combination. Service was ok. Our server was almost non-existent near the end of our meal. Our bill had charges from another table and which added wait time for us to get our server's attention to fix the incorrect billing. What has happened? With Ethan Stowell no longer at the helm our experience last weekend did not meet expectations. The service WAS fabulous. The drinks, ok. A half glass (half?) of bubbly was offered for our anniversary celebration. The meal, less than mediocre. Fish and Chips, fish was over cooked and obviously frozen. Chips, ok! Calamari, chunky and rubbery. The wings, not crispy. The burger, a frozen patty...ugh. The atmosphere, very noisy with a large crowd upstairs in the activity area. I think overall the dinner experience was ok. Polenta Fries were excellent. The cubes of polenta were crispy, yet tender on the inside. The top is blanketed with a mound of shredded cheese, which had trouble adhering to the fries. It was great to share with others, as they are pretty filling. I would definitely get this again Steak Frites was average. The fries are standard restaurant fries that are covered in a healthy-sized mound of diced garlic and Parmesan cheese. The steak is already sliced for you, although they do include a pat of butter (Montreal honey butter) which is soft, yet not melted on top of the steak. I think they do this so that if you didn't want it on your steak, you could easily remove it, but by the time the dish got to me, the butter had trouble liquefying so it was awkward to eat congealed butter on the steak despite me spreading it out immediately as soon as I got it. I did think that the prices were a bit expensive. Also keep in mind that there is a 20% service charge added to your bill at the end, and gratuities are not expected. read more

Had the Truffle Smash Burger with a substituted veggie patty and it was oh so good! It hit the trifecta of savory, salty, and sweet with the combination of sautéed mushroom ragot, truffle aioli, and Gruyère cheese. Loads of flavor from those delicious toppings. The veggie patty is a pretty good initiation meat similar to Impossible but a little more dense. The "stadium" fries were your average, good vehicles for sauce but not ones I'd be yearning to eat plain. I got extra truffle aioli on the side to dip them in and was very satisfied then. read more

I love dining at Victor! The restaurant has a laid-back sports bar atmosphere, which is great for watching Mariners or Seahawks games. I always enjoy their salads and appetizers, the polenta bites are one of my favorites. They have a great drink selection, and I love that they have local Yonder cider on tap. Their bar is decently sized and a great place to hang out, the servers are always very friendly. Our original server let us know bowling was open and offered that we could play. No mention of the cost by our server and no signs anywhere to say that it has a cost. We played on the middle lane then moved over to the edge land when another group came up to bowl. They charged up 20$ per lane used. Along with that a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill. Ridiculous. When we complained they were not understanding at all, we had to make multiple complaints for the woman then serving us to remove one of the charges. There are places where it might be worth spending $22 on a burger. This isn't one of those places. The hamburger patty on the BBQ burger was dry, tasteless and overcooked. The smallish hamburger patty was sitting on top of a doughy onion ring. You'll pay a mandatory 20% surcharge for service. If the tables are cleared off and you're offered a choice on where to sit, I'm okay with the mandated 20% tip. We weren't offered the option of sitting outdoors or in a booth with comfortable seats. We visited the new location for post mother's day brunch. We started with the Salt & Pepper Fries and Biscuits & Gravy to share. The malted vinegar aioli complemented the fries well and I loved the melded flavors of the the Cajun sausage gravy and herb biscuit! For entrees, we had the Victor Breakfast which included caramelized applewood bacon was a nice combo of sweet and salty. My FIL said the fish was dry for the Fish & Chips, the Corned Beef in the Hash was sliced like deli meat and not shredded. My MIL enjoyed her Southwest Salad with salmon. Looking back, I didn't need to order the 5th meal (Victor Breakfast) for the 4 of us because the B&G was that enjoyable with an over medium egg. Last night was my first visit to Victory Tavern for happy hour and I really liked it! My best friend and I sat at the bar and ordered food and he ordered beers and a a couple of bourbons on the rocks. Beer on tap selection was good and Sonia our server was knowledgeable and informed and gave us good recommendations on bourbons to try. I took notes even for my next liquor store run! I am giving three stars for the meal I had. I am not giving it a better rating for a few reasons. First of all, there was a 20% gratuity added onto our bill (there were two of us, this was not some large party). I am told that the employees do not get even get that gratuity - what are we being charged for? Who gets this money? If the employees are being paid fairly, great; but if you are passing a gratuity to the customer out of greed because you have to "make up" for lost cashflow, that's pretty shite. Second of all, this is a baseball-themed bar; the decor and name speaks to this - and they did not have the ability to show the Mariners games. I know that right now things are sketchy with the broadcasts, but if you are claiming to be a sports bar in an area with multiple sports teams, your priority should be the ability to broadcast local sports. Additionally, who doesn't toast the muffins on a Benedict? Maybe the toaster whispered at these things, but it was difficult to cut through. My spicy chicken sandwich was quite good, however (order with extra pickles, it will be perfect; spicy enough that you know it's spicy and flavorful, not so spicy that it's rendered inedible), as was the Caesar salad I eventually got after my order was misheard I might go back during football season, but I'm a huge Mariners fan and am not going to chance it again this year. I need to make it clear that the employees were friendly and kind, they deserve better than to have gratuity charged they're not actually getting, and the customers deserve better than to be forced to pay money on top of the food they're already paying for. read more

We went for a weekday happy hour. We went upstairs to play bowling which we reserved ahead of time for an hour. It's perfect for younger kids with the smaller ball size and bumpers. We enjoyed burgers for $15 (instead of $22+), cocktails ($10), and the pretzels bites with cheese and mustard. It's typical bar food and more expensive of a price so happy hour prices were perfect and so was the slower HH crowd. There are many games upstairs including shuffle board, and board games to play at your table. People complained about the noise on other reviews. We had a group of six teenage boys next to us and the noise with the number of people is typical, not out of the ordinary. The customer service was great- they forgot to serve us upstairs (it was a slow day) so I had to find someone to order. They apologized and comped us on our bill. From the moment I walked into The Victor Tavern, I felt super welcomed. The hostess was friendly, my waitress was attentive, and we were having a great time at our table. Later on, we needed to move to the bar area because the table we were sitting at was reserved, and that was totally understandable. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn from there. After a quick break outside to enjoy the sun, we came back to find a bartender (a short, stocky guy with a mustache) who was extremely rude. While we had been outside, someone else had come in and sat two seats away from where we'd been, leaving a stool open. Instead of asking that new person to adjust, the bartender immediately targeted us and demanded that we move. He used his hands in dismissive gestures and basically told us to move in a way that felt aggressive and completely disrespectful. As a Black woman who was there with another Black woman, it definitely felt like there was a racial undertone to how we were treated. We saw other people arriving and leaving stools open, and none of them were asked to move like we were. Everyone else in the bar was white, and we were the only people of color who were asked to move, even though we had been sitting there first. To make matters worse, the bartender told other staff members about the situation, and while some of them tried to be polite, you could tell it was forced. The whole thing left me feeling extremely discriminated against, and I would not recommend this place to any person of color. What started as a great experience turned into a really hurtful one, and it's important for others to know. read more

Unfortunately, they arrived lukewarm and with a gummy coating. My fellow diners ordered two Rodeo Burgers ($22), which comes with cheddar cheese, bacon, fried onion, bbq sauce, brioche bun. Again, not hot food. the French fries were cold. The bbq sauce had more spice than expected. And the burgers were overcooked, as if they sat for a while. So, this was not a balanced of taste burger, it was overwhelmingly bbq spicy and barely warm. I'm picky about my food being hot and adequately cooked. I ordered rare, I would have accepted medium. Not the gray overcooked puck I was served. Sad because I was pulling for a good experience. I think the idea is high class dive bar, with pub food. The second time was happy hour sitting at the bar and it was fine, still pricey. The main issue is the automatic 20% charge and it is added before tax, so you are paying tax on the 20% charge.
