    Solid Manhattan, plus hockey highlights
    Tom B.

In short Awesome newer place, nicer than a dive but open to dive lovers, good food, good bar, tons of games and TVs. In long This place took over the spot after a beloved old joint closed up shop due to happy retirement. It was an instant hit, packed all the time--not to say that Muk protects its institutions too fiercely, but that's kinda rare to blow up right away after replacing a popular joint. Good on 'em! They really do show tons of individual personality while still hitting all the regular marks for a great hangout. Pool, darts, I think pulltabs, pop-a-shot, tons of flat screens tuned to the ballgame. Full kitchen, full bar. Beer and wine are kinda the basics, and they're not trying to knock you out with weird custom cocktails, either--but everything's good, including the prices. Muk never had a spot like this before. Low key, come as you are, welcome sports fans, bend an elbow and hang out? Nope. There are just a couple clusters of businesses, so there haven't been many entrepreneurs stepping in. National chains, maybe a wine bar here and there. More good spots have opened the last few years, but this is the first casual hang like this. They clearly filled a gaping niche! 20 years ago it seemed like there was barely anything other than the brewery and a little seafood. We've driven by here dozens of times, and the parking lots always looked completely full. We've circled through the parking lot half a dozen times and, yeah, every spot really was taken. Yesterday it was oddly only half-full, so we finally got to check it out. They cleaned the place up a fair bit: new paint, new flooring, turned it from a Greek place into a sports bar/tav vibe. Nothing overdone, very low-key. They greet you right away and ya seats yerself. There are half a dozen booths and a couple dozen barstools along the bar and a couple highboy tables. No tables. We had menus right away and the kid couldn't have been nicer. For as slammed as they always are, he was super relaxed and easy-going. No rush to chatting with him at all, though he hustled every bit of food and drink and all that. We got a couple cocktails and a couple plates. All showed up right away. Manhattan They have a maple manhattan on the menu here, but this drink at most places doesn't need any more sugar. This was easy to enjoy. R&R Sweet and creamy drink that was a big hit across the table. Kinda like a milkshake on the rocks for me, but I am not really the target audience here. Nachos Very little spice, no cumin or anything to make you think you're eating Mexican food. Kind of wonton chips, white cheese sauce, some veg and such. Not bad but I could go 500% higher on the flavor profile, at least. Still, this is gonna be a hit with most folks who order it. If you're watching the game it's an easy snack to keep nibbling on. I might almost go for the sauce on the side as a dip; these are pretty messy nachos, especially if you're not zeroing in on the dry corner of each chip with your fingertips. Prime rib dip Solid sandwich, good flavor to the meat and onions. The jus is not too different at most places--comfortingly familiar for sure. Bread is toasted to the point of crunchiness, which is a nice change of pace. Crinkle-cut fries cooked thoroughly enough to be fluffy inside. Perfect! For 2 plates and drinks, it was under $60 before tip. Very fair prices. I would happily come back anytime, though it's not a spot I would rideshare to, and they rarely have parking. They always pack it out in here, and it's easy to see why. I hope I end up here again a few times. They really take care to do everything as well as they can and still keeping prices fair.

Today I was confronted with Hunter, informed that the staff were unhappy with my tips. I feel that I'm being charged a premium here, $8 for a beer? Expect a tip? That's over ten bucks for a beer. Nice knowing you.

I'm really looking forward to this little place. We stopped in for lunch, I look forward to coming back for dinner or hh. They have pool tables, basketball hoop and darts that I have yet to try. It was pretty bright during the day with multiple seating options The service was friendly and the owner made a point to come say high and check in during the meal Their food is simple and as expected we got the artichoke hearts, ceaser, French dip and claim chowder. There drinks are stiff with a good flavor Definitely will be back

What a nice addition to Mukilteo! This bar is clean, cozy, serving up great food and excellent drinks! This place can get busy, as the locals are loving the new hangout. It's nice to have a late night spot in this little town. Try the burger-they call it a smash burger but it's not some flimsy soggy sandwich-it's delicious!! The pool tables are a nice touch, and pull tabs are in the works, along with a dart board and another bar activity.

A fun casual neighborhood sports bar with good burgers, salads, and taps for decent bar price. Pool and arcade games with good service.

This is exactly what Mukilteo needed!! Great food and great atmosphere. Friendly owners and they're open late!

Tried Coles out today and will be back very soon! Must check out this new bar in Mukilteo off the Speedway! Food was great and came out fast! Service was outstanding! Allison was amazing! It has pool tables, a dart board and hoops. Great place to come in and chill!

Fun little bar with a dive bar feel, just not dive bar prices. Bartenders were pretty cool, though not very chatty.

We had a MARVELOUS experience!…read more My bf, his mom and myself passed by this place on a couple of walks. I've also marked it as a place to visit. It is part of the Staybridge Suite hotels here and this hotel in general, is always packed! We finally know why! The hotel inside is beautiful -- woodwork and a cozy ambience! The 5 x 5 bar & bistro is new. What it was before was an old theater. Matthew was a one-man show with two ladies helping him with carrying the done orders to the tables. It was actually quiet on a Wednesday when we had went. Only 3 tables occupied. We missed happy hour and settled on the regular menu. I had the chicken tenders (4-pc) with lemon pepper seasoning (oh my -- this was delicious!) along with sweet potato waffle fries. I also got the hummus plate -- fresh veggies and the hummus had feta cheese and olive oil too, yummy! My bf had the pepperoni pizza with cheddar cheese and topped with green onions. I had a taste of it and it was pretty good! My bf's mom had the fish burger with a side salad. Matthew was so kind and made a mental note of the orders. He even remembered my bf's mom saying 'no cheese' and he doubled checked with her after looking at the fish burger. Real nice guy and his service with the ladies was warm and delightful! They're forming an events room hall that will be done soon that used to be a pool area (so yes, no swimming pool anymore). They also have a nice patio area with long chairs and a nice mini bar/grills in the middle. I also had a limoncello cooler and my bf's mom has red wine too. We'd come back again!

In short Great deals on great drinks, food is really solid,…read moreand the setting is nice and friendly. Only drawback is that the hours are limited. In long Lately we've been seeking out places that are literally quieter--less volume on the music, more space between the tables, and so on. I'd been wanting to check out 5x5, anyway, since it's the only spot around with an exactly perfect rating score. It looked like it'd fit the bill for a low-key place, and off we went. We came in shortly after they opened on a Saturday (4:00 PM). You're in a larger business-traveler hotel here, aimed at Boeing and Boeing-sub folks traveling for work. The building looks kinda generic from outside, but there's plenty of parking, and the lobby has a high-ceilinged atrium vibe for sure. Nice floor tiles, nice carpet, tasteful furniture. Everything's in perfect shape. You don't feel the lounge vibe right away, but there's a gigantic fireplace ahead of you, warming both sides of the room from the middle. Around that, there are lots of sturdy, shiny tables under the lofty ceilings. Off to the side, there's a little lounge area, then another one. Everything in the lounge is bar-height seating, and there are a few flatscreens, probably showing the game. Most folks are in here, sitting around the bar in the middle of the room. We posted up at a table just outside the lounge. Lindsey was behind the bar, and cheerfully answered every single question we had about food and all their cocktails. She's super friendly and makes a great drink for sure. She seems to have a bunch of regulars who aren't staying at the hotel, which is a great sign, no doubt. We checked out the warm pretzel--such a decadent treat. The waffle fries (and especially the aioli that came with them) were awesome. The pizza was a great choice; we added pickled onions to the Speedway. The crust could be a little crisper but we took home what we didn't finish and it's great here, too. Service on food and drinks was really quick. The cocktails here can be really creative, and there are lots of classics with house twists on the recipe. They even have a pisco sour they've tweaked--that's a fair bit of work for a bartender to make mid-shift. We got 5 great drinks and 3 nice plates of food for $96, and I don't think we even ordered anything from the HH menu. This is a very easy place to add to the rotation.

If you're in the mood for a basic place where they do everything right, you can probably round up a star. In long This has been at least one other sports bar, and you might be surprised how big it is inside. There's a decent amount of parking, and a ton of reliable places to eat also surround this lot. I came in to check out Husky hoops yesterday afternoon, which nobody around here was showing since it was on a streaming platform. The place was empty when I showed up 'cause it was way between lunch and dinner, so I got to chat with the cool bartender a bit. She had already scoured their channel guides to see which local teams she'd be able to show, so we shared a cheerful grumble about how you can't just get one subscription to cable anymore and see all your teams' games. I didn't get the sense she was a sports dork like me, so she was doing this so she could do a good job at work. I like that!@ This place from the outside looks like it might seat about 25, but the reality is that it's several times that big. Dozen pool tables scattered around, plenty of room for everybody to line up shots. Couple dozen TVs. Huge horseshoe-shaped bar going from the middle of room to the back corner, lots of stools. You can see a few nice choices for spirits here and there. Full bar for sure. Beers are a little on the industrial side, probably no wines. She mixed a decent old-fashioned for me, but asked multiple questions about how I liked it. I really loved how detailed she was with everything--which games are on, which drinks they have, how to make them, how they serve their food. She didn't seem like the owner (I don't think) but she knew the whole place like the back of her hand. I had a prime rib dip, which was just the sandwich you want when you can have a little cheat. Good chewy onion rings that didn't pull apart after one bite--you get batter and onion, both, every time. Jus was good, meat was tender, bread had a nice chew to it. The chef puts his name on at least one dish, and the bartender went on about how much scratch cooking he does. I asked if she recommended something specific, and she rattled off half the menu. This is definitely a place where you can happily eat during the game. I was out the door with a meal and a drink for under $30, which is an amazing value these days.

The woman at the counter was super friendly and packaged the burger very carefully so I could take it home in one piece! I ordered the Blu Burger & Butterfinger Milkshake - both were solid. Butterfinger shake was delicious, although part of me wishes I got some of their on-tap root beer instead. The burger was tasty, albeit a bit of an adjustment for me since I'm still warming up to blue cheese. The only downside was that the bacon tasted a bit too meaty (if that makes sense) and one of the pieces had a part that couldn't be chewed in it. Regardless, it's a solid burger and I'm excited to go back and try another one! They do not serve beer/alcohol here anymore and have converted the old beer tap to a root beer tap. I highly recommend trying this place out as the new owners/workers are very friendly & the food is delicious!

I can say we were all pretty disappointed in this place. The staff was the only positive that we took away from this experience. Both servers that we encountered were both kind and attentive. The drinks and food however totally missed the marks. We all started off with drinks 2 margaritas, a gin gimlet and a beer between the four of us. The margaritas were terrible, like I am not sure how they put them as a feature drink. They had zero jalapeños and also offered no spicy margarita whatsoever. My wife's gin gimlet tasted like straight up lime juice. All were complete misses. Next we moved on to the food where each couple ordered a dozen wings. The X's and O's( fries and onion rings) and we also ordered a wedge salad. The wedge salad came out and idk how it was marketed as wedge when it was a bowl of salad completely engulfed in dressing(closer to soup than salad). Next the fries and onion rings came out and I'm not usually a stickler for what things cost, but $17 for like 6 onion rings and a very sad plate of fries. We expected a bit more for what we ordered for the table. Lastly the wings. While the flavoring of the wings were good, they came out not too warm to the touch and biting into them they were cold on the inside. Concerned that we may get sick from uncooked meat they assured us that they were precooked and just dropped into the fryer to finish them off. To me it is concerning that though they were precooked and still missed on hearing them all way, you may need to have a chat with your kitchen. Both of the servers were on top of it and ran both dozens back to have our order recooked. Second time around they were hot and crispy with good flavor(although the garlic boom boom wings were missing one of the sauces the second time around). It didn't matter, we ate them and paid. Not sure we will put this on our revisit list. Maybe the burgers or flatbread were the way to go, but out of 3 menu items and even the drinks.... There needs to be much more effort to everything here...

I stopped by, finally, on a Sunday afternoon to watch some football and see what the place is about. You can park right on 99 or out back; there's a sneaky back door that gets you in from the back lot. You zigzag between pool tables when you come in, and there are flatscreens all over if you want to watch the game. There are highboys, counters, and bar seating, but not too many chairs where you put your feet on the floor. At the bar, they have tons of pull tabs, a few taps, and a full selection of basic liquor choices. I had a couple whiskies. After a while, I checked out The Bomb, which is a good pizza. Very earthy umami flavors with all the artichoke hearts, and kind of a plain white-flour chewy crust. I filled the TouchTunes bin with tons of credits, and got to watch all kinds of football highlights with tunes I like playing. I was out the door for a few drinks and a medium pizza for $70. Not too bad these days. Unfortunately, the bartender "forgot" to bring me back my credit card, then explained she didn't think I gave her one 'cause I had a tab (they don't take your card when you open a tab, just your name), then said she forgot, then thanked me profusely for reminding her to grab it. She wasn't that busy, and I was sitting 6 feet from the card reader. The extra thanks seemed like play-acting. Nothing bad happened, but that's kind of a bummer. I'd still come back but I'll let someone else who wants to check it out talk me into it.

Probably could seat 50 people. Dude was working the floor by himself. They have some flat screens up, showing whatever's clever. There's a full bar, but the cocktail menu is even shorter than the food menu, which isn't long. They seem to want to go for that family-place vibe, including the sports-focused bar area, but their space just isn't big enough to really bring that to life. I ordered carne asada for $28. You get a nice serving of steak with real grill marks and nice smoky aroma and flavor. Rice, beans, a little guac, some pico, and 3 tortillas. Hearty enough for lunch, though the menu says "dinner portion only," and that made me wonder for a second if lunch portions are usually much smaller. All the flavors were right on, and dude kept my iced tea full. Word of mouth on this place is kinda mixed around here, despite the solid rate here. I'd go back, but even just for the sports-bar/family-Mexican restaurant segment, there are multiple options nearby that have more resources (even if the food here is just as good).
