In short Very good food, fair prices. The setting is plain but the service is nice. You can round this up at least a star if you're just hungry and don't want to overpay. In long I came in for lunch on a quiet Friday--one party of friends was leaving, one party of co-workers was filling up another table. The dining room felt super empty right at lunch hour. Probably could seat 50 people. Dude was working the floor by himself. They have some flat screens up, showing whatever's clever. There's a full bar, but the cocktail menu is even shorter than the food menu, which isn't long. They seem to want to go for that family-place vibe, including the sports-focused bar area, but their space just isn't big enough to really bring that to life. I ordered carne asada for $28. You get a nice serving of steak with real grill marks and nice smoky aroma and flavor. Rice, beans, a little guac, some pico, and 3 tortillas. Hearty enough for lunch, though the menu says "dinner portion only," and that made me wonder for a second if lunch portions are usually much smaller. All the flavors were right on, and dude kept my iced tea full. Word of mouth on this place is kinda mixed around here, despite the solid rate here. I'd go back, but even just for the sports-bar/family-Mexican restaurant segment, there are multiple options nearby that have more resources (even if the food here is just as good). read more

I am super grateful for the people who run this establishment! Everyone was genuinely friendly and hospitable. I was kindly offered a skinny margarita made from scratch, which was delicious! The chips and salsa were tasty and fresh. I ordered camerones al mojo de ajo. The shrimp and vegetables were fresh and perfectly cooked/ the right amount of tenderness. Went to Sabor a Mexico with friends yesterday evening after playing golf. Tacos and margaritas sounded good to all of us. Restaurant was NOT busy, 3 maybe 4 tables seated. Staff immediately welcomed and seated us. Someone brought us water, chips & salsa, and menus within a minute or two. After that we never had an employee come to our table again. Staff, I believe there were two wait staff, were standing around chatting. No one ever came and asked us if we wanted anything to eat or drink. This place has definitely gone way downhill. The people are nice, but the food is awful. The guac looked almost grey and tasted like nothing. Paid $5 for an extra side only for no one to eat it because it was so nasty. I've never had guac that gross in my life. The enchiladas, you couldn't even tell what they were. We had a two taco plate that was ordered and we were given just more questionable enchiladas. Everything tasted so bland and truly like all the ingredients were frozen and old. For how much we paid ( they charge for to-go containers & bags), we tipped a very high percent considering it was to-go but it was truly a regret. I was a bit suspicious, but I was in the area and craving Mexican Unfortunately, there aren't a ton of photos, and I decided to go with an old fav. Chalupa and enchilada. I was really tempted to go with Carne Asada, but the photos didn't show what I considered to be a generous portion, so I passed. The food was hot and fresh. Many times, I've had chalupas with stale shells, but this one was crisp despite not being hot from oil. The ground beef was also tasty. It was seasoned well and not drowning in tomato sauce. The salsa was also decent with a slight kick and the rice, and beans also had enough flavor to be their own entrée. It wasn't life changing, so no 5-star experience, but I give thumps up to flavor, pricing and portion. Very unlikely I'd be back in the area, but I will reflect favorably on the experience and suggest it to anyone I know passing through. read more

Came across this restaurant after drinks at the Damond Knott taphouse. Was a little worried walking in this place. However, after the staff served us water, chips, and salsa. Then, they took our order. We became comfortable. The servers and service were spot on. Our dishes were delicious. We ordered tacos, enchiladas, and burritos. We met the owner. Nice guy, I thought the place was run very well. Very professional. The restaurant is a perfect spot for an area mexican restaurant. I will certainly be back. Solid Mexican food joint. I'm originally from San Diego and I know my Mexican food. It's a little on the pricier side but then again what isn't these days? Their beans are really good and every now and again they throw in extra corn tortillas which is awesome. Chip bags are always full to the top. Awful. Just awful. I am in disbelief this place has 4 stars. I ordered a 2 taco combo plate with beef. It came with a Ortega shell from Safeway and ground beef unflavored. Oh and it came with one taco for the price of 18 dollars! I ordered a been and cheese burrito. They gave me a flat tortilla will a little bean on it and like warm salsa on it. It looked like an enchilada not a burrito. I ordered a carne asada burrito. I assumed most burritos are at the most 10-15 bucks. They asked 25 dollars for a burrito. Veey little meat and no better than Taco Bell. I am in shock how horrible of an excuse for Mexican food this place is. The bar must be very low in mukilteo. read more

I have been going to this restaurant for lunch breaks at work, and with friends, the past 2 to 3 years straight. It is one of my favorite local spots, the food is excellent, the prices are very reasonable, and the staff are personable and wonderful. Ruben works really hard as the owner, and takes great care of the staff. During the Covid crisis, he has committed to keeping all of his servers on staff, even though he had to reduce hours slightly. He recognizes and values their hard work, loyalty, dedication, and the fact that training new people would be more of a headache than the extra expense of keeping his well-trained, loyal staff on payroll. As a Boeing employee, I encourage all of my fellow Boeing employees to order takeout, delivery, and din-in with this restaurant to support them during this difficult time. Consistently decent. I've been coming here on and off for years, and while it's not the most authentic Mexican food around, it's a mile above places like Azteca. My review is based off what I like to call my "white girl special," which is a taco/enchilada combination. As I mentioned before, nothing out of this world, but it's consistent and not very expensive. My toddler son likes to order off the "American" portion of the menu, which has corn dogs and chicken nuggets (also very reasonably priced). The staff here is always super nice and accommodating. They never complain while my toddler roams around annoying people, and since I'm a single mom, I appreciate people being patient with us. read more

Having been to Brooklyn Bros Pizzeria just across the street as well as the Mukilteo Thai just two doors down, I decided to press my luck with some Mexican Food at Sabor a Mexico. While it may not be the best option for Mexican food in the Pacific Northwest, it's still one of the better ones you will find in the Puget Sound region. You can find Sabor a Mexico on the Southwest corner of 84th Street SW and Mukilteo Speedway. When I came in at 7 PM on a Sunday evening, there was actually nobody there at the front to greet me. I had to wait a couple of minutes before one of the servers acknowledged me. Luckily, there were menus at the front table for me to look at while I was waiting to be served. The server actually went to go seat two other customers, which gave me more time to decide what to order. I had looked at the menu online (with prices included), so I had a pretty good idea of what to order. It didn't take long before I finally decided on the small deluxe nachos, dinner salad, and arroz con camarones. Amazingly, the total with tax came out to be exactly $30.00! Wow! Could I have played my cards any better than that??? The server said it'd be about a 10 minute wait before my food would be ready. It was actually 15 to 20 minutes before he gave me my food in a big plastic bag. He seemed pretty cool though. Demonstrated great customer service that day to me and the other customers in the restaurant. When I took the food out of the bag, I was amazed at how big the portion sizes were! Sometimes, at other restaurants, $30 only gets you enough for one meal. However, they gave me so much food I ended up having leftovers for lunch the next day! The food overall was pretty good! Nachos were kind of soft, but went very well with all the toppings like sour cream and guacamole. The dinner salad was much bigger than I thought! It came in a full standard size takeout box. For $4, that's quite a lot of salad compared to other restaurants! It was far from the best salad, but it was alright; at least I got my daily dose of vegetables for two days! The Arroz con Camarones came with three warm pieces of soft flour tortillas. De to the licious! The tray was so huge that I think they should have given me 10 tortillas instead! I'm not compaining though. I enjoyed the dish, and it went especially well with the tortillas. If you volunteered (or were volun-told) to bring a Mexican dish to a pot luck, definitely go for the Arroz con Camarones from Sabor a Mexico! You (and the rest of the guests) won't be disappointed! I eat here during crabbing season a few times a week or if I'm working in the area. The food is average everything on lunch is about 9-13$ So here is what got me I know it's not a big deal but they gave me 1/2 a white dish with the chips when it was gone I asked for more salsa with the rest of the chips, when they brought my flautas I asked for salsa to put on it, he charged me .50 cents I know the last time I was here I was never charged for salsa and they used to give you Pico de gallo, the flautas did not even have any tomato on it. Always a first I guess... I'm going to say times must be hard for them. read more
