I visited Cabernets and IPAs in July 2025. So I'm a bit late for a review. However, it's a great location for delicious wine, beer and food! The views of Puget Sound are outstanding. Indoor/Outdoor seating is all fabulous. Mukilteo is a great spot for relaxing, walking and taking in the scenery. So a wonderful setting all around. I hope to be back again. This place ambience and service is incomparable. You can sit inside and still see the water and feel like you are outside. They have a patio with heaters and awning for sun. Regardless of weather a great place to go ambiance wise. There drinks are great, I tend to go towards their house made liquors you can't go wrong. We have gone multiple times and really want to enjoy the food here but have decided specific selections are suggested. The hummus plate was pretty good and would get again. I wouldn't get the steak salad again. The corn soup was rich but good. Recommend simple appetizers but I'd skip the rest. read more

This is my 2nd time here. The first time we received great service and food. Food this time was a 3.5. Service a 1. Our waitress this time treated us nonchalantly, with an attitude, and was condescending. We observed her on her phone, constantly eating , came out from the back with her fingers in her mouth picking her teeth, pretty disgusting. She served our drinks and had to stop, turn her face and was coughing. We waited quite awhile and had to get up to request our bill because she was in the corner gabbing and looking at her phone--We didn't get her name. She had long dark hair with many tattoos. Lovely place! We were able to get there during happy hour (3-6 PM) and were seated without a wait with a nice view of the water. We tried a few appetizers from the happy hour menu, but the highlight of the evening was the gorgonzola fig flatbread. I met my book club here for our monthly meet. Free extremely limited parking can be found in the parking lot. If the parking lot is full, free street parking can be found nearby. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Happy Hour is offered Mon-Fri from 3pm-6pm. Outdoor seating is available. Propane fireplaces are lit to help keep the chill at bay during the colder months. Indoors is dimly lit with a trendy atmosphere and vibe. Cab & IPA's is not ideal for large parties. Cab & IPA's offers a nice selection of local wine, beer, and ciders. A full bar is available for those who like to sip on cocktails. During my visit, I sipped on a couple glasses of House Red wine for $8 each (hh). I ordered the Margherita Flatbread for $11 (hh): Flatbread toasted with mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes. Always an uncomplicated yet tasty choice. Flatbread would have been taken to the next level if red pepper flakes were offered as a garnishment. Our table shared the Chips & Salsa for $5 (hh). I would pass on this snack the next time around. The salsa was bland and watery. I took a to-go order for a Cobb Salad home for my wife for $16: fresh greens, chicken, avocado, egg, olives, onions, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, and bacon with ranch dressing. The salad was served in a nice sized compostable container. Salad toppings were generous and pleasing to the eye. My wife was happy with her meal choice. Service was efficient, although a bit clipped. Overall, I look forward to returning in the future with a smaller group. read more

The bruschetta is a bit pricey for only 3 pieces of bread but it's really good - just wish an appetizer was more of a shareable portion. The margarita flatbread pizza was great! Previously got the charcuterie board and wish different options for crackers and a spreadable cheese. Again, a bit pricey for what it was but good. We stopped by here to take family out to dinner. The ambiance is delightful -- warm and comfortably appointed with lots of fun wine themed details. They have an extensive wine by the glass menu but also a "wine wall" for bottle purchases -- and you can get a discount if you're taking a bottle home. There were quite a few beers on tap too, it looked to be nearly 20 tap handles. The food menu was good, with a wide variety of options at good prices, ranging from small shareable plates to salads and soups to full entrees. The waitstaff were warm, attentive and knowledgeable. We happened on a live music night -- bottles were discounted and the music was lovely without overpowering conversation. We want to come back in the summer to try out their patio with fireplaces and views of the water! read more

They have a fabulous wine selection (I will assume the same for beer), either by the glass or by the bottle! And they offer a discount on six bottles or more! We had the baked brie with cranberries and the clams - YUM! Mukilteo is a gem in itself; this place is a perfect example! OH! Such terrible food. 2:30p on a Saturday and not busy. I could not bite through the tortillas on the steak tacos. The tortillas were old and hard. The steak was dried out and overcooked. The guacamole was brown. I do not understand was standards seem so low. My friend had the steak salad and had to pick through it for the good parts. On the plus side, the location is great. The ambiance was great. The drink selection was good. Just don't come for food. read more

I have debated for a while whether writing for this review. I love the location in the heart of Mukilteo overlooking the peninsula. Truly a breathtaking view and the restaurant is beautiful. They typically have a guest acoustic singer which is absolutely lovely. However, I am really disappointed in my experiences at this restaurant located in the heart of Mukilteo ( based on about 6-8 visits on a variety of times and days ) . The service was nothing short of passive aggressive and unorganized, which made for an uncomfortable experience. To top it off, the beers are a hit of a miss. Particularly on my last visit, it was awful--my beer was completely flat, and I hate to say it , but a Blue Moon should not taste like garbage water. Yes, it was that bad. The servers did not help the situation at all. They hardly come to the table (typical - unless you are seated at the bar) only to drop of drinks, and when they did, it was like pulling teeth to communicate with them. They did not engage at all - drop off order like a robot. It was more like they walked nearby the table quickly and never engaged only to take order and drop off the bill. It really feel like most of them do not care about the guests or the experience. On the bright side the venue is in an amazing location, but with such poor service and mediocre greasy food, it really takes away from the overall experience. I just wish they had better management because this place could have glowing reviews with the right attention to detail. It is truly a real shame. read more

The ambiance of this place is amazing especially on a nice day when you can sit outside. A couple of things ruined my experience unfortunately, starting with the wait. I fail to understand why they would have so many empty tables but continue to have such a long wait. Perhaps they should take some tables out if they are unable to fill them for some reason. After waiting almost an hour, the waitress we had was very rude. At one point I had a bug in my glass of wine and was fishing it out with a napkin, and someone at my table asked if she could bring me another glass. She replied, "no, she drank half of it." That is not a response you would expect, and she could have offered a half glass to replace it. The food was average, the street tacos were dry and lacking sauce. I wish I would have had a better experience, because like I said, it's gorgeous. read more

Pros: Great views, decent wine selection, beers and cocktails. We have been here a few times in the past year. I have to say the menu program has really grown up. It started with a small handful of bites, to a decent menu with lots of choices. Everything has been pretty good. Staff is friendly. Cons: never enough immediate parking, but not their fault. And yesterday was live music (Wednesday evenings). The place got packed. Not an empty seat. We got there at almost 4 not knowing they would have live music which was a treat, but sadly because it got soooo busy our server got overwhelmed and service just came to a screeching halt. Our last round of drinks never came. We finally had to cut our losses and ask for the check without ever getting the last glass of wine we ordered. The manager was apologetic and attentive. We will still come back, but maybe just not on a Wednesday evening. read more

A great place to hang out on the patio and enjoy the summer weather and water view below while sipping delicious wine or cocktails. The wine list is extensive and the cocktails are tasty. They had a rum slushie on special that was really good, along with a pineapple mule that really hit the spot. The nachos were delicious, as well as the kale salad, and street tacos. The portions of everything were a bit on the smaller side, especially considering the price. Perhaps happy hour would've been a better value. I've been here 2 times and this place has a nice atmosphere -- overlooking the water! The menu consists of little bits and salads/flatbreads and they're all pretty good! If you're sitting outside and it's during winter time, they have the fire going as well as heat lamps (which were very warm and kept me snugged). They also provide a cushion for the benches so you have extra support to sit on. Outdoor seating looks great for summer, yet there were guest sitting by the heaters in February! They have a Happy Hour to try out several different items. So far, the clams are my favorite! Definitely come here for the views in the warmer months. There's a nice outdoor area with a fire pit. I thought the food was decent (poke nachos, steak sandwich, margarita pizza). Nothing to rave about but, the drinks were pretty tasty. I enjoyed the pineapple infused vodka (I believe it's their house special). I've also had their guava cheesecake! We ordered small plates and loved the deviled eggs. For all that it had the jalapenos, there was no heat...which was kind of disappointing. We ordered the honey brie with bried and apples. This came warm and it was epic!! The honey really pushed this over the top! It stayed gooey and went really well with the apples. We love roasted cauliflower and it was delicious. In short, this is a fancy place that's still very homey and welcoming, a place that skews a little older in clientele but all ages show up, and a full restaurant that's really most remarkable for its wine selection. And they DO have a few beers pouring, about half of which are good local/regional craft offerings, but the scope of their program pales in comparison to how many wines they offer. Still, they do have "IPAs" in the name, and they make some effort toward making good on that. In long, this is a great setting for drinks in any weather, but it looks especially amazing for sunny days. There's a big casual stone patio out front, with a wall of folding glass doors on the front side of the building. Inside there are half a dozen tables or so, some highboys, and bar seating. It's all painted dark, and one whole wall is a continuous custom hardwood wine rack. The floors look like they're out of a 19th-century warehouse by the port. None of it feels forced or too on the nose. It ends up being very welcoming. They do have a couple decent-sized flat screens, probably showing the game. Staff is a fun mix of kids and industry vets. They all seem to love bartending a lot, though some are chattier than others. Ours was a very sweet and friendly kid who clearly loved good wine. She was a little distracted for about 15 minutes in the middle of our visit but overall she was engaging and on point otherwise throughout. We tried a pink, a white, 3 reds, and a cocktail between us. All were winners. Big focus on WA wines, which I really love. Tons of very astute picks in the by-the-bottle offerings, and even in the single pours, too. The cocktail was a house-infused pineapple vodka. I tried it, and I'd for sure drink one sometime, though I usually scroll past things like that on drink menus. We got the deviled eggs, which were excellent. 6 halves, tasty yolk mix, nice microgreens garnish. The gorgonzola dip was likely the hit of the night--rich, creamy dip on top of warm crunchy toast. The charcuterie plate was a fantastic value...as big as an entree for $24. Everything on it is available at Costco, but reasonably-priced snack trays like that are always welcome at my table. It's more fun to eat that way some night, especially in a social setting. I've heard mixed things about the flatbread, but based on the 3 apps we tried, I'd expect them to be good. And I'll certainly be finding out soon enough, 'cause this place instantly felt worth multiple repeat visits. It's primarily a wine bar IMO, with enough food to either snack your way or fully dine your way through trying a few things. And that outdoor setting has to be just amazing--you're just 3 blocks from the water, but you're already 3-4 stories up, so you can see for miles over to Whidbey and across Possession Sound, too. read more

The sever, Beth was so rude to us! We witnessd her at the table next to us trat a with a young couple with hositility! It was rude and mean. Have no idea who this woman is but she has no right bringing a bad attitude to her work. It was obvious she was angry at something. She had no patience, didnt make suggestions after we asked and we literally felt she was hurrying us to be done. This poor young couple was shocked at how she spoke to them. The woman looked hurt or something. She kept looking at her husband or date like help me. It was very sad to watch. The owners need to have a serious talk with Beth or at the least fire her. They have a nice fire pit and plenty of heaters to keep you warm. If you are looking for some place to stop after you leave Whidbey Island, this is your spot. We were so excited for this place as we were visiting mukilteo. Very pretty decor, love the location! When my husband and I went in, hostess told us they didnt take reservations and the wait was 1 hour. We put our info down and waited 1 hour. Barely anybody left even though the limit on tables was 90minutes.. I checked back with the hostess, she said someone would be leaving soon so maybe 15 more minutes. When I came out, there were 4 ppl who just came in to be seated inside almost right away. After a while, they came outside and waited for outside seating and got seated before us. My husband and I waited about 90minutes, and these people got seated almost right away. Didnt think that was fair. When we were finally seated, staff members seemed to be avoiding us since they all knew we waited quite a bit outside? lol multiple times they checked other tables but just passed by us. we didnt have anybody checking in for 20 minutes, didnt get water until after we ordered(we were super thirsty waiting for so long!!), drinks came out late. Service here is very slow... we ordered cucumber gimlet, whiskey something and deviled eggs. Food and drinks tasted great! Hopefully next time we come back it will be better but our first time experience was disappointing. read more

We were told the manager was "watching us on the camera" and our table was being cut off because we had been there too long (spending money the whole time). This was a large group of over 20 people. No one was belligerent, rude, or loud... we just all had to go because we were being watched and had 3-4 drinks each over 3 hours (along with plenty of food orders). They don't like you standing at the bar because apparently it gives off a vibe they don't want. I feel really bad for the staff. You can see they are uncomfortable with the weird rules (they were super apologetic). One described their boss as "scary." I would say neurotic based on my interactions. We decided to try this place on a recommendation. The service was top notch! Thank you Taylor! My boyfriend had a smoked manhattan, and I had the winter white vodka drink (can't remember the name) both were delicious. The manhattan had a warm Smokey flavor, the drink I had was better than a lemon drop perfectly sweet especially with the sugared rim. For an appetizer we had the steamed clams along with the bread and butter with oil and balsamic. The BUTTER was out of this world. Chefs kiss! For dinner we each had the steak sandwich with the salad. The meat was cooked to perfection and the horseradish sauce made the sandwich. Our server brought us the burger sliders to try and they were amazing. The burger was cooked perfectly and was tender and the bun was just the right amount of toasted and squishy but not soggy. The restaurant itself is tucked into the perfect location, the tents outside along with the fire make for a perfect date night location. So went here for first time the other night. Sat outside in the covered and heated patio. Has a big fire pit and it's a very cozy atmosphere. I found the service was very good. I started with cider then moved to a Pilsner then on to a stout. I finished with a clean rye whiskey. I was feeling pretty good that night. Food is good. I found the selection good and moderately priced. Really no surprises considering the location and swankiness of the place. I suggested to them that they need a pizza oven on the patio because people love wood fired pizza and cold beer! Nuff said I will be back for another review I'm sure. read more

Wow. Seriously I can not recommend this place enough. To start, the owner is SO friendly and sweet. She connects with people easily and can definitely read the room! It was awesome talking to her and hearing about the area (I'm new here). And THE FOOD!! Holy hell. Not only did every item look amazing (I peeked at everyone else's table) but what I ordered was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. Good sized portions, great taste. Very great wine selection and a ton of beers as well. The atmosphere is great. Very casual, comfortable dining. The outdoor area is facing the sound, and there's a large stone fire pit in the center. The tables are spaced well and it's super welcoming. Plus it's a short walk to the beach if your looking to get a bit toasty and sun bathe. If you're concerned about cleanliness with COVID, this place has you covered. The servers are all wearing masks, the tables are spaced out, they have hand sanitizer stations, and you can just tell it's all very well taken care of. Love love LOVE!!! read more

My daughters and I look forward to having a nice night out with a wonderful view, and the place we thought of was Cabernets and IPAs. The last few times we've gone, it has been extremely disappointing. They never keep their staff, the quality of food is disappointing, what we ordered is no longer available but still on the menu, even their mixed drinks are subpar. It makes me sad because in the beginning when they first opened, it was wonderful everything was on point, now it's just a subpar restaurant with wine and a view. If you want to go somewhere that has consistently good food and inviting atmosphere, go to The Little Tavern in Mukilteo and drive down to the beach instead. read more
