This is a true hidden gem that is off the beaten path. It's in a neighborhood you are unlikely to ever just drive by, but now that you have heard about it you should make a special trip. Yes GPS may think you are lost, but that is because this is situated in the middle of a neighborhood. I guess it's been here a really long time. Some of the older patrons talk about how great it used to be before there were houses built in front blocking the waterfront view. You can still get glimpses of the waterfront and the back deck makes a great place to spend a warm summer evening. The building itself has a lot of character. Although it's divey I assume most of the patrons are locals who could choose to go anywhere but come here because it's close. If you happen to be visiting in the non sunny summer months there is still lots of space and seating inside. This turned out to be the perfect place for a friend to hold a birthday party. Not too loud, not too crowded, lots of space for everyone to stand around and talk. The majority of the parking is street parking but because there is nothing else around this was super easy as well. Best of all prices are great. I can't recall such a cheap night out in recent years. They even offer food, I only tried the chips and salsa myself, but everyone seemed to be happy with what they ordered. read more

The Cabin was a great pre-funk dive bar that we stopped in at before heading to a work party. It was eclectic and the jello shots were actually REALLY good! The Cabin is a very local, slightly dilapidated, nautical-themed neighborhood pub which has seen better days. This place reminds me of my grandmother. It smells funny and sags a bit in places, but I I know she would have liked it here. And it's full of my favorite kind of people: Northwest natives! Now mind you, the regular clientèle see this joint as their club house. To them it's a community center, beer hall, gossip mill, tavern, and living room all rolled in one. And how lucky they are to be able to walk there (and stumble home). I'm jealous in the best possible way. My first time here was on the night after Thanksgiving and we were all treated like a regulars. The staff were friendly, and even the guys sitting at the bar (who were clearly fixtures) chatted us up, sharing a story of their first time at The Cabin. The four of us drank beer and ate a pile of crispy tater tots while enjoying the music from the juke box and the football game on TV. It felt like I was back at my grandmother's house. This is a Tavern that growing up in Richmond Beach goes back far for memories.. Staff always friendly and beer cold. They have a menu and a small kitchen with tasty food.. I got the prime rib dip which was a little grisly but the fries were great and my friend loves the fish and chips.. The fish is not fried nor is anything there.. She craves the cod.. The floor is dipping and the bar stools don't stay straight due to the floors slope.. Kinda strange but gives this place character.. What a surprise! An excellent neighborhood tavern hidden away on a Richmond Beach residential street overlooking the Puget Sound. Dana served us and was so gracious and lovely. We sat outside because...well....COVID ain't over. And we got the best seat in the house, with a view of the Sound. Cheeseburger and hamburger were fabulous, along with hard seltzer. With some blankets for the outdoor seats, even on an early spring day in March, it was very comfortable and it might as well have been summertime. We will return. Echoing what all of the non-locals said, this spot is very awkward to go to if you're not buddy-buddy with everyone. My partner and I walked in and literally everyone inside the bar stared at us.. not super inviting. Ordering food was awkward too since no one took our order at the back patio, so my partner had to walk inside the bar again to grab someone's attention. The fish tacos were amaaaaazing and the fries are probably the best I've had in a long time. I would not venture here again--no matter how beautifully battered the fish tacos were. This place has been around since I was a kid. I'm 76. It's always been funky. We stopped by recently. Had a couple of DELICIOUS Bloody Mary's!! The only complaint I would have is that the place is REALLY dirty!! We sat at the bar and the area under the bar was filthy. It looked like it hadn't been vacuumed or swept in weeks. The entire floor was really dirty!! Funky is one thing but dirty is unnecessary!! read more

The Cabin is a real neighborhood gem. It is located in a residential area on the Richmond Beach waterfront because it was grandfathered in to the zoning laws. The Cabin feels like a community. The vast majority of customers are regulars who live in the area and have been coming to the bar for the last few decades or so. Not to say that it's full of old people though! There is a nice mix of older and younger folk. The clam chowder is quite good. Highly recommended! The sirloin steak was tough and overcooked, but the accompanying shrimp Caesar salad was excellent. I'm going to try their meatloaf next time. The bartenders and staff are extremely friendly and efficient. The bar itself is sloped, which makes you feel like you're on a boat. They have a fireplace and pool table in back and a large outdoor patio that is great during the summer. Give this place a try! read more

So glad my boss and I stoped here after a long day of work! We are both from out of town and we where treated great. Small cozy dive bar with lots of character, and probably characters...seriously though everyone was friendly, and probably one of the best western burgers I've had in a long time, and I recommend the pub chips . Visitor from Oregon here: I stumbled across this "hole in the wall" while exploring the neighborhood of Richmond beach. I have never felt more welcomed in a small town bar. It's a very cozy place that is away from the town traffic about 20 minutes north or Seattle. Our bartender Brandi was an absolute delight. This is one of The Seattle area's well known "Dive Bars". I've been in the area since 2005. This place is unpretentious, many locals like to hang out and play pool or just chat. This isn't a "micro-brewery" where you get a bunch of fluff for your entitlement so if you are expecting that from a cozy, local watering hole go elsewhere. People here engage, are friendly, food may not be to your liking but it's about community. So suck it up "Buttercup", LOL. read more

A hidden gem. The Cabin is in a now surburban neighborhood where you'd never stumble upon it if you weren't seeking it explicitly or lived next door. But it was a working port with a few summer homes when the structure was built in 1927, and when, in 1933 it received one of the first five or six post-prohibition liquor licenses in the state of Washington, and became what is now the oldest continually running business in Shoreline. The Cabin has better than average tavern food, a good selection of beers and standard drinks, and a very nice patio area where you can see the sound. But what gives the place it's essential character is the undulating floor and bar as the place has unevenly settled over the years after being moved on (and apparently left on) logs. Pictures don't capture the odd tilts of the place, but the second one here gives a hint if you look at the far end of the bar. What a great place to stumble upon while dinking around Richmond Beach! A friend and I played a few great games of pool ($.75) and super enjoyed the patio out back while basking in full afternoon sun! Loved the Jukebox selection - good mix of old and newer music of all genres. Great locals getting boozed up mid afternoon with entertaining stories. While it isn't a place that you will find new dating material, this dive on the water is the perfect place for seeing mom's and dad's who still like to go out and have some fun. Getting drunk with the locals has a new flavor here with the old and scraggly schmoozing the single and forty somethings. Small selection of cheaper beers on tap, but a full bar. I'm not sure I'd classify this place as a "dive" bar, while there are many "locals" here, it's not that funky or dicey.....lol... A fair selection of beer on tap, offered by the pint or the pitcher and the better part of the deal which is offering a full bar! I had to laugh at our recent tab, the break down showed us being charged $.50 cents for the OJ in the screwdriver....I was too blurry eyed to notice what the vodka cost us....must have been the stiff drinks..... Had the basic Nachos, yellow cheese, salsa, sour cream, and peppers tossed on top, while my kid makes better ones at home, these did the job just fine... Parking is a pain at times, God save you should you park in front of a mailbox or driveway, the locals will tow your ass off quick! Smokers are allowed to wheeze in peace off the side porch area. I met a friend here for an afternoon beer (or three). He is regular and conviced me to try the food. I had the meatloaf sandwich with chowder. It was pretty damn good. The meatloaf was housemade and well cooked. The chowder was not overly thick. It was well seasoned and spiced. Over server was pleasant and chatty. I had a great time. read more

The Cabin is the quintessential tavern. This joint is just the kind of place I love to stop into randomly when on road trips. Having visited on a dozen occasions, believe me when I say this is obviously the friendly kind of neighborhood tavern where regulars are greeted by name when they walk in the door and where you can count on getting a good meal while listening to some great tunes on the jukebox. Don't expect a fancy trendy, yuppy bar/tavern full of millennials (thank god) and you won't be disappointed in this old gem of a bar in Richmond Beach, right on the water (well, across the street from the beach, but still, you get the idea). What you will stumble upon is a friendly, welcoming bar crew who want to know your name and then they address you by name throughout your stay. The floors are old, warped and creaky and the bar is cattywampus but has a sense of rustic appeal. Great beers on tap, wine by the carafe, food is decent (we had the fish and chips - bonus points when we discovered malt vinegar comes standard on the table - didn't have to ask - which is a good sign if you know how to properly eat your fish and chips the ole English/British style), but we weren't really going for the food but the ambience of a rustic, neighborhood beach bar. Worth checking out - great patio to enjoy this lovely summer weather. read more

This is a bar that should be avoided at all costs. It's full of local nobodies doing nothing with their lives but who can at least feel important here. It's exactly what the Seattle area isn't. Bad food... average beer...and rude regulars. Save your money to go to one of any number of great bars in the area. Fun little dive bar in a small community. Don't let the 3 stars think that I didn't like this place - it's just that there wasn't anything that stood out (it's actually a 3.4, but not a 4 star place). Food was subpar, but fair selection of beer and hard liquor. I like the fact the floors slope, there's a old school juke box and an eclectic group of patrons. They've got a fairly nice patio, but it was too cold for us to enjoy. If your in the area, it's worth stopping by to check out - But don't go out of your way. read more
