What a cool place! We visited a friend in Edmonds area for my husbands birthday. It was a great escape for the desert heat! That being said, we were looking for something fun to do one afternoon and being big board game lovers, Around the Table Game Pub seemed like such a perfect find! They do take reservations online to reserve tables in two hour increments for game sessions, but also have ample walk in seating outside and inside. In addition to being a board game pub they offered lots of varies games for sale or other world building accessories. They seemed to have used and new games available. Their menu featured plentiful of coffee options, beers, kombucha, a few menu items such as corn dogs and waffles fries and ice cream. They even had Blue Moon?! I felt like i was back in Michigan! One of the employees joked how they got various unique flavors in that sometimes were location specific, so definitely a fun surprise. We ended up visiting them twice, one for a mid morning game session and one for an afternoon. It was such a great way to past the time and they seem to have a great presence in the community. They have various events going on throughout the month. If you are interested in board games or want to get started, they seem like a great spot to start! I also loved that they did not have a cover charge, such as some game shops have, unless you order, which I do understand and I am sure helps with use and overhead of wear and tear on the games, but they seem to be a community gem and get ample support. Around the Table is a friendly board gaming store that is always bustling with events! They have their own Discord and when I asked way back if there was a regular board game night, they added it to the weekly schedule and it's been going ever since. It felt really awesome to have that direct connection to the people running the store and be heard like that. They save tables for events and you can also reserve a table online if you'd like since it's pretty small overall. Everyone I've met - both the other people attending the board game night and the staff - have been super friendly. Staff will come around and chat about games when they have a moment since they also serve some basic eats & drinks on top of checking out people buying games. They are also SO NICE about letting you bring in food from other restaurants! I went through a time where I was SUPER SENSITIVE to dairy and gluten and couldn't have anything on their menu so I was very thankful that they even advertise outside restaurant food is ok! I recommend making another purchase from them (like a drink or game) if you take advantage of this. I will always buy a board game from here first vs big-box. This place is pretty great! I stopped by with a friend to play some games and had a great time there. The place is pretty spacious with tables to play. They also have a game library so you don't have to buy or bring your own games. They serve drinks and food as well. I can't comment on the food but I like they're glad that they carried mead and cider since I'm not much of a beer drinker. read more

I have never been to a board game pub and was blown away here. Nick was an amazing employee, super informative and welcoming. Ton of board game expansions and variants that you might never know about unless you hear about it or see it in a setting like this. There's a game library to try out different games inside, so something chill to do with friends and low cost, if at all. No cost to try out a game but there's food to share which is a great deal to sit down, snack, play games, and enjoy company. Waffle fries here are crispy and delicious by the way. read more

If you're looking for a Friendly Local Game Store in the Lynnwood/Edmonds area, this place should be at the the top of your list. They have a wonderful selection of games to buy, a great tabletop library to borrow from, ample room to play, a great event schedule, and a wide variety of reasonably-priced food and drinks. Why not 5 stars? The food is prepared in the same space as the gaming tables, and there doesn't appear to be active ventilation present. My family, which contains some sensitivities and respiratory issues, asked if we could take the games to one of their outside tables. It's a shame, because the space is otherwise very inviting of settling in for a lengthy board game session. With a few HVAC tune-ups, this is a 5 star establishment. read more

I come here for the ice cream, not games. I know its funny. They have around 10 different ice cream flavors everytime. I love that its NOT those common flavors chocolate, vanilla, etc. There are ube, ginger, thai milk tea, pasion fruit, etc. Half selections are vegan ice cream and half are regular ones. Unfamiliar with "game pubs" , I asked the only employee I saw how it " worked" ...meaning, did we bring our own games or did the shop provide games, etc. Well, I received an extremely rude, arguably hostile, reply. We so need a place like this in Lynnwood. Games, beer, ice cream and food. They have it all in a location that's family and geek-friendly without an ounce of pretentiousness. The location is on 196th and 76th in the old Blockbuster location. We were here on a Tuesday night, and the place had almost every table full of people. There were kids, adults, hard-core gamers and curious onlookers. There is a Little Caesar's pizza in the complex, and people were noshing on slices while they were gaming. The ice cream selection is phenomenal - Thai Iced Tea and a flavor called Memphis King with Peanut Butter ice cream and chocolate covered bacon pieces. Oh yes, and there's a vegan chocolate that looks AMAZING!! The selection of beers and ciders is eclectic and unique. There's a Chocolate Stout I would love to try. In addition to the beer and cider selection, they also have sodas, juices and iced tea. But I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the games. There's something for everyone - from your basic family board games to role playing games. Also, they have a private gaming room you can reserve free of charge for those group game nights. We are definitely coming back - the vibe, games and amazing owners make us want to turn this into a regular hangout. read more

On a recent visit I tried one of their new menu items, the bratwurst. It was quite good. Very substantial. It came on a pretzel bun that was also hearty but not too hard or dense. It comes with Tim's chips. You can also get it with waffle fries for $1 I think extra. The base price is $5.50 if I am not mistaken. I already knew the waffle fries were good. This place is a lot of fun to drink, play games and socialize. I've made a bunch of new friends here. The people that run it are just so friendly and wonderful too. In an age when good customer service has become scarce; Around the Table remains steadfastly superb! I was in yesterday to buy a game for the first time (had only been in to play a few times before), and was reminded why this business is such a pleasure to visit. Tim was attentive and friendly with all customers in the store and personally walked over after a minute or two of browsing to offer assistance. I initially declined and he gave me space, while reiterating willingness to answer questions if they came up. At checkout, I did ask about the game I was purchasing and he was clearly knowledgeable and helpful with his reply. I then asked about another game, and although they didn't have what I sought, he informed me about a weekly game night when similar games are played and invited me to join. This blew me away! He found out what I liked, and invited me into their community where I might most enjoy. He didn't try to upsell a product, but rather invited me into a relationship with the business. And it was all genuine and welcoming. Yes I will continue to patron your store, and yes I will pay the minor mark up from Amzn prices, because businesses like this deserve our business! read more

Until 2020 happened, this place was my home away from home: It was a great public meeting space to hang out and play games with friends. It was friendly to outside food thanks to limited kitchen options, and had a friendly staff that made it easy to get game recommendations and set up events. Since the pandemic started, I've been consistently impressed by the store's commitment to keeping its customers safe by staying a step ahead of pandemic restrictions. While it sadly means it's not presently usable as a gaming space, the sanitization standards, still-friendly (but of course limited) staff, and reduced capacity mean it remains a great place to pick up board games, locally-brewed beer growlers, and pints of ice cream without fear of COVID exposure. read more

This is probably one of the best places in the area to play your board or card games. There is a huge selection of games and collectibles. There is food, beer, coffee and ice cream that is served, too if you're feeling hungry. You are also allowed to bring outside food, which I think is awesome! The staff is AWESOME! Combining that with friendly gamers who visit, it really makes the atmosphere very fun and engaging, whether you're playing your own board game with your friends or just being around others. Boyfriend and I chose this place to celebrate International Tabletop Day because who doesn't love craft brews, icecream, AND awesome games?!?! We were not disappointed! Holy selection, Batman! They have got the gambit on game choices from beginner to pro, pink ponies to mechadeath bots. We picked up some choice games to play later and hung out for many more hours than we initially intended. There were open games in the back to play test and lots of folks brought stuff from home to try. The patrons here were all very open, patient (I learned a couple new games), and friendly; no snobbish players or cliques. They have fantastic selection, and are always willing to order product they might not have in stock. Came with a friend on Free RPG day. It was my first time and the atmosphere was great, great game and game accessory selection. Got myself some inexpensive D&D minis and new dice, as well as a cold bottle of orange Bawls. Usually I can only find it at the Fry's Electronics down in Renton, and that's a bit of a drive, even for my favourite energy drink. While there a friend and I got to play Starfinder, and it was great fun. Unfortunately their biweekly game overlaps another game I'm in at another store. Brilliant. I saw this place about a month ago and a friend had told me about it. Then I heard it was family friendly. Took my 15-year old son up there yesterday to check it out. I figured we'd stop in, take a look, play a game and see what it was all about it. We were there almost SIX HOURS. I have not had a good bonding experience like that with my typical teenager in a long time. We talked, laughed, and played, non-stop. It was a fantastic trip and I can not wait to go back. When I got there, I told the man at the front desk, that I used to love playing games as a kid and he was wonderful to talk to and recommended some games that were easy to learn and led us to the back corner where there must've been at least 50-75 games you could grab, find a table and play. The other thing I love was they were stickered with complexity ratings. I'm an idiot and needed something that wasn't too complicated. We would up playing three different games during our hours there and even bought the one we fell in love with to take home. They have a whole retail section as well. Did I mention the beer cooler which was fully stocked with craft beers. About 1/2 I've never heard of. They're also very knowledgable about their beers and more than happy to recommend some. It was great. Nick, one of the owners, even told me they're putting in taps very soon!! Plenty of soda and snacks for the kids too. Little Caesar's & Subway are next door and you're welcome to bring in food. I loved playing games as a kid, so seeing this area where I could just grab and try any game I wanted was awesome. The sense of nostalgia when I saw some old classics I enjoyed as a boy. The 3 games we spent our time playing were all new to me however and games have changed A LOT. Every table in the place was full when we got there and it's interesting to stroll around and just kind of watch the games other people were playing and enjoying. What an awesome spot! I was suggested to visit this place by an employee at another game store near by and I was happy I did. They have a solid selection of card games, board games, role playing games, puzzles, etc. They also have a great little beer selection and rotating ice cream flavors! I came in looking for a specific game however they sold their last copy earlier that day. No matter, I walked out with two other games which are great! I love this place and I will tell you why. 1) Friendly workers/management. They really go "customer first". 2) Beer and ice cream. There's something for everyone and the prices are downright reasonable. They have a good selection of both, too. 3) Very large selection of games to not only buy, but just come in and play. 4) Very roomy - lots of tables to sit down and play at. 5) This may seem silly, but they have a "trade-in box" for Magic card commons and uncommons where you donate two and take one. It's on the honor system and everyone seems to honor it. I have a bunch of old commons that I traded in for some of the newer sets and a bunch of kids got excited because they had never seen a lot of the old commons before. It's a terrific idea and the box keeps growing. 6) They have a private room in the back you can reserve if you have a group. Great parking, a decent assortment of drinks and eats, and plenty of games open and available for play. There are also hundreds of games and accessories available for purchase. Some of their complexity ratings are not accurate(any derivative of Arkham Horror should be a complexity 4 or 5; we saw one at 3 last night). Just head in and have some fun.
