Called the store on the day of a pre-release trading card game launch to inquire if they were selling product. The employees had no idea what I was talking about and asked me where I had heard that there was a launch that day. I responded that other local game stores were selling the product and that the publisher had noted that that was the release day for local game stores. After confirming that this set had in fact been released, they then told me that they would not be selling product until two days later at their launch event. On the day of the launch event, I arrived to find out that the employees did not even know if there was a launch event happening or know where the product was at all, or if they could even sell it. After determining that there would be an event that day they still were not sure if they would be able to sell it to us or with the price would be and chose a price that was higher than other product from the same trading card game. This was all after calling ahead to confirm these things and then traveling over an hour and a half to the store since there are not many local game stores where I live. Overall, when asking questions it felt like I was bothering the employees and that it was my fault that they didn't know the answers to my questions and it was an inconvenience that we had even asked. This is in sharp contrast to other local game stores in the area who will always look to find the answer to a question if they don't know the answer. Past experiences at Geek Fortress have been a little unorganized, but nothing like the most recent one. I will not be coming back. read more

They have great stock of TCGs, accessories, plushies, board games and beverages. They even had free sticker sheets and Pokemon stickers and accessories! They had plenty of tables and chairs for card events which was going on when we went in around 7:30pm on a Saturday. The staff seemed to be very professional and friendly, ensuring to answer all questions we had. My boyfriend bought a few Magic singles and he only really buys them after checking how much it really goes for so the prices seem to be fair. They do have singles for One Piece, Lorcana, Pokemon, and Magic which is nice cause it's usually the last two I see. They do have a little area for you to search in their database and they get it within a few minutes too. Overall a great card shop in the area. read more

This is my second review of this store, I wanted to update. I have gone back numerous times and spent WAY too much money, but ther services they offer make it really easy. I have been buying MTG singles and their online purchase option is AWESOME! I get to see what they have in stock, how much it is, and "order it" (picked up and paid in store). Their service has been friendly and really supportive. I have had a great experience with them and will continue to go back. I have also played in there a few times and the store is bright, clean, and spacious. the crowd they draw if easy going and some of the issues I have seen with folks at game stores are not present. This place is incredible. I called in on a Monday when they were closed, but the owner still answered the phone. I had questions about Warhammer 40K since I was interested in getting into it, and he stayed in the phone, answered all of my questions and gave additional advice, guidance and recommendations. Once I started going into the store the experience was even better! The entire community here is so welcoming and excited to have me as a new addition. We all quickly become friends and talk on the Discord regularly and encourage each other as we build, paint and play together. Not enough good things can be said about this place! This place is awesome. Just did a pokemon event with my son here. I cannot say how amazing this business is. The community here is so welcoming and friendly. The coordinator Alex took extra time to teach me and my son how to play. Everyone here is nice, chill, and welcomes all ages. I am super impressed with how they treat younger patrons. Kudos to the event staff and the shop owner for such a great space to play and talk pokemon and mtg. My only gripe is that there isn't more warhammer 40k which is more my jam. But there is still a good little paint selection and a fair amount of plastic minis to buy or build. This place is going to be a regular haunt for us. Sweet game shop in Snohomish on Ave D. Dylan has put in a lot of tables, so this is a great shop to get together with friends for some games. It's a real mtg shop. They carry singles. They hold a few events, two headed giant is one of the favorites here. Coolest part is the pairings are post on the mounted tv display. My 12 year old son had a birthday gift to purchase for a friend who's mom said he had just started playing Dungeons & Dragons. Preferring to shop local, we stopped into Geek Fortress the day of the party. The owner of the shop was behind the counter and greeted us right away in a friendly tone, and the young men hanging out in the shop around the counter moved out of the way politely so we could speak to the owner. We told him what we were after and that we were thinking of getting some specialty dice for my son's friend. He asked us some questions, told a little bit about the different dice available and what they were used for, and made suggestions. He spent nearly 10 minutes with us, helping my son choose a selection of dice in an array of colors from a large basket of bulk dice on the counter. In the end we purchased a great mix of dice for a great price, and were 100% confident we had a good selection for a D&D Gamer to enjoy. I was very pleased with the respectful and mature tone of his conversation with my son, not treating him like a 'kid', but answering his questions and talking to him like a real person making a real purchase. We were both very pleased, the recipient loved his gift, and we will most definitely go back to Geek Fortress for supplies. My son is also looking forward to gaming events there since he plays Magic: The Gathering. Thanks for a great local shopping experience! So, I did not realize that there were any stores like this in Snohomish. Just got back here in February, and was sad in 2012 when I visited for a year because there were no gaming places that I knew of. Walked in here today after having seen groups of people standing outside daily. To my amazement, it was an actual gaming store! Had to work, though, but came back later and they were still open! Ended up staying there till around 2 in the morning and had a blast. Learned how to place an epic game called Boss Monster. Even though I obviously am a newbie at these things since it's been nearly 14 years since I've done anything like this, I had a great time. Watched some people play Magic, watched Archer on the television, and had a great time. They have drinks and candy, cards and games galore, tournaments, and an incredibly friendly group of people who were more than happy to answer my questions and let me watch them play. Awesome little store. Owners really nice, friendly enviroment. Took my kid there today to get out of pokemon and into magic. He helped us out and made my son extremely happy. My son pulled some kind of rare card out. Owner instantly told us the real price value and asked if we wanted to trade in for store credit. Great place for Magic the Gathering play. They have good turnouts for multiple formats and the owner is himself sometimes a player which makes it nice to chat about cards and strategy with. My favorite part that keeps me coming back is the prize format for constructed formats: you can choose to play for free and still win store credit as well as opt in for a paid pool if you want a chance at an even higher payout. Plus, number of rounds depends on number of attendees so sometimes you can get five round which is more fun. (As opposed to a fixed number of rounds). They recently expanded to a larger location so there is plenty of room too.. read more

I visited this shop for the first time yesterday and the owner is very friendly, and very helpful! I went in pursuit of D&D materials, and while there weren't any minis or accessories, there were plenty of books to choose from. I've been trying forever to find the expansion to Terra Mystica, and Dylan checked a couple of suppliers and added a few to his upcoming order. I was hoping I could prepay for one to get dibs on it, but I was told that if I create a wish list on the website and add the expansion, I will get a notification when it's in-stock. I was happy enough to do this, but unfortunately the expansion wasn't listed online for me to add to my list. I'll call in a week or so to see if they have arrived and if there are any left, but I won't hold my breath. read more

Really great place to come and play MTG. He is one of the few stores outside of the greater Seattle area that supports a legacy scene, which is really great for the people who want to keep the format alive. He's also really nice, and has a good stock of comics and board games, as well as magic cards. Really great store to play at and make your regular LGS if you need one. read more
