The owner Dan and his Staff are good people, they give a darn about others. I feel valued as a longtime customer and appreciated as a person. Two out of the last three years I either couldn't make it very early or couldn't make it at all for Free Comic Book Day. The Staff suggested I send a Facebook message listing the titles I really wanted and they would try and set aside copies, and they did both years. I traded in a short box of comics for store credit. Realized of course that they couldn't give me retail value before doing it, but still got more than I was expecting. The amount of titles they stock from large, small and medium publishers alike is impressive. They have fulfilled several special orders I've requested. The Game Room for RPG, card games, etc. is spacious and inviting. Feel pretty fortunate to have this store in my area. read more

I will never have enough dice and nothing you can say will convince me otherwise. I've been coming to this shop for probably 10 years and still don't have enough. It's a laid back place that seems to stock a good variety of things, but I'm usually only there for board games (they carry fun strategy games, not really the classic ones), magic cards, and (of course) dice. They also carry comic books, minis, collectibles, and have an assortment of arcade games in the back. The owner always takes the time to answer questions and help you find things. I'm not changing my stars. I haven't been back, mainly because of the treatment I received, when asking about a game i was having issues with. I have wanted to stop in, but my stubbornness and unwillingness to be treated as such keeps me from doing so. Was in the area searching for a baseball card shop or a place they might sell baseball cards. I stopped in here thinking they would know and help me out. Yea, big mistake. Walked in and guy behind counter was already with a customer so I waited while the second guy behind the desk wouldn't look up from his laptop. Probably playing a game. After five minutes I finally received help which was minimal and I felt as if they thought I was an inconvenience. During our talk he answered the phone and I wasn't looked at or acknowledged again. Always have horrible service here and the building smells horrible. I won't be back. If you want friendly and/or helpful service don't come here because they lack all customer service skills. read more

If you are looking to fill your comic book,action figure,gaming needs then Docking Bay 93 is your place to go! It's around the corner from the super Wal-Mart in Mt Vernon for those having a hard time finding it. New comics come in every wensday as do other geeky items (t-shirts,toys,etc.) The selection is plentiful and the prices are reasonable. Docking Bay has a large retro arcade in the back that's like a trip down memory alley for fellow gen-xers. There is also a large table top gaming area and Magic The Gathering tourneys are held here often. Dan the owner is a very personable and knowledgable person. If he doesn't have the item in store that your looking for then nine times out of ten he can order it for you! Despite Bellingham having two comic book stores I personally go to the Docking Bay weekly because they are the better comic book/specialty store. I recommend checking it out!! read more

This is the coolest comic book store I've ever been to. They don't have a whole lot of older comics but they have a very wide variety of graphic novels and newer issues. I can understand what the other review is talking about when they say the staff is cliquey, but they are really friendly and knowledgable if you ask them for help. The coolest thing about this place that sets them part from other comic book stores is the game room in the back. They have a wide variety of arcade games that are only 25 cents each and they have a section to the side where people can gather to play games as a group. The coolest nerd hang out by far! read more

I had a great visit at this place. This is a place that I've been curious about it, each and every time I've been in the Mount Vernon area. Finally, I was there during a time when it was open. Good. Hubby liked the comic selection, and made a purchase. I played some of the vintage arcade games in the back. It was fun. I love taking my kids here to play in their classic arcade! The staff here is always very friendly and helps me whenever I have any questions. They have a huge selection of comics books figures toys etc. it's a perfect place to come and spend a few dollars to entertain your children. The owner is easy to talk to and funny. Great arcade and he is not weird about you turning your semi well behaved children in there with a roll of quarters while you trade quips about the return of Dr Who and lol at the prices of MTG cards. This store has been an institution and a local legend for my friends and I, since we first started going to comic book and gaming shops as youngsters. Its current incarnation is neato! I love the old-fashioned arcade in back, and Dan's customer service has been top notch every time I've shopped there. I trust his recommendations when I ask about new comics to read, and he hasn't steered me wrong yet! I tried to buy a figurine, but when I went to pay the guy told me to wait while he was at the computer. I thought ok I can wait, he's probably doing something important, four minutes later I asked him what he was doing. Stashed away in a little street that luckily seems to have drawn a Wal Mart to it, otherwise it would be lost to view. This place has the kind of stock you'd expect from a larger store in a major city! Full arcade with a few classics even (couldn't get away from the Street Fighter for like an hour!), figurines at MSRP like you won't find on eBay, grand comic collection, Anime, Manga, card games and more! Only had to knock off 1 Star when I went to trade some cards in and got a "Card Kingdom" Sale Price for over the counter... but a TCG/MTG Price quote on how much mine were worth... big offset. Guy was nice enough about the rest of the experience though, talking about tournaments and special orders like a man invested in repeat business. Docking Bay 93.... A Trekkie name for a cool place. I hadn't seen comics anywhere in years, so I was pleasantly suprised to find a huge selection of the newest stuff. You can set up a hold box with a small deposit so you dont miss releases of your favorite new issues. Trade paperbacks let you start new series and catch up on older issues. Im not sure what Manga is, bjt they have half a wall full of it..... There is a gaming section with everything from board games to Magic. Dan runs a great shop and schedules tournaments and contests.... In the same space is an arcade with real pinball. Superman, Walking Dead, Tron, Iron Man, Lord of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Pirates of the Carribean and Dr Who rounds out the Pinball selection. Dr Who is a bit of a treat because its an older machine and it pays you for accurate shooting and understanding the story..... Theres also Pac Man, Tetris, 4 player Pacman a bunch of other video games..... Almost every game is a quarter. Theres drinks and candy bars behind the counter..... Well worth the stop, and somewhat addicting. read more

I couldn't be happier when a friend took me to Docking Bay 93 when I was having one of those days. I love this shop, it's small, quaint and has that "nerd-cave" feel and it's a shop where you can lose yourself in the shelves and nooks and crannies of action figures, comics, statues and games galore and an awesome arcade room full of video games and tables for game night. The arcade room is a great idea for a night with friends, and with a birthday coming up, I think it's a great alternative for a party! Dan the owner is awesome and is quite knowledgeable with products and ordering as well as Ben; both are very accommodating and as a patron, appreciate their level of customer service and satisfying customer experience. I miss my favorite shop in NYC, Forbidden Planet where I used to go for my collectibles and other toys and comics, but I'm happy to have discovered DB93, it's not just a shop, it's a place where I go to be a kid again, and escape the madness of this world. There are other places that I've visited of the same genre and yes they're brighter, bigger and stock heavy on items but it's the personalized care that matters. The level of service shouldn't depend on how much you spend, it's the initial approach from the staff that propels one to spend. It's a specialized shop so initially one would expect that clients coming in knows what they want or is familiar with the shop so I don't expect anyone to approach me straightaway but I do have questions and the staff here is quite knowledgeable and willing to answer questions and provide alternatives if necessary without feeling intimidated. Dan is accommodating and is willing to help locate items for special orders and requests and has assisted me with updates on upcoming items, releases and pre-orders. Kudos to Dan and Docking Bay 93, I highly recommend this shop and their products and services. read more
