I . Am . In . Love ! Stumbled upon this bookstore and went to the cafe first and they were super friendly and the chai and cheese danish I ordered was really good! The bookstore had a dining area, games to stay and play, a discount section, mini events area, just so much not including the books and it was so cute! Books were pricey but given the condition, special editions, etc ... it's understandable. Will definitely be a frequent customer!

Books, games, hobbies supplies back packs and gaming rooms. Clean, well-stocked, interesting diversity of books. This is a don't miss.

Wow- this place was good before the relocation/expansion, and now it's AMAZING. Huge selection of books, merch, games, and other goodies a nerd or geek might want to peruse. The cafe, while nothing was up on the menus yet, served two delicious drinks and a perfect bagel. The barista was super kind and informative. There was a great seating area that we played a game at while we sipped our drinks. Prices are always good here, and the staff is friendly and helpful.

Everything about this is great. Really happy to have randomly driven by and made a u-turn to stop in. Spent way too much money. Worth it.

It was a lovely spot on a sunny winter day, so I got out and scanned the offerings. This bookstore jumped out at me, and I knew I needed to take a look. Having a very young niece, I'm constantly on the hunt for books to enrich her developing mind. I hit the jackpot with this place! The owner has a wonderful spirit and is exceptionally helpful in showing a new customer around. I love a small business with passion for its offerings, it's critical for the atmosphere to be just right. You can feel the passion in this space. Having done a lot of my shopping online over the last few years, I don't often venture into shops. But this one pulled me in and rewarded me with a bounty of books for my darling girl, and I'll be taking trips to this area, specifically with the store in mind! I didn't have any thought to look at adult offerings but I'll make sure to do that on future visits. Right now it's all auntie brain all the time! Come in with an open heart and on the hunt for literary treasures. There are new books and used books to choose from! It's so fabulous and truly magical.

This isn't a sterile chain shop--it's a warm, sunshiny hub built from beautiful wood tones, welcoming you to slow down and stay awhile. What immediately strikes you is how wonderfully curated the space is. Despite being "jam-packed" with thousands of quality used and collectible books, the store manages to feel open, airy, and inviting. The selection is fantastic, especially their deep cuts in Pacific Northwest History, general fiction, and esoterica. Browsing is a delight thanks to the meticulous organization that makes finding that hidden literary gem feel like a genuine discovery. The "Coffeehouse" part of the name is equally crucial. Serving delicious, locally-sourced coffee (like Olympia Coffee Roasters beans) and boasting a pastry case filled with unique treats--the legendary rosemary sea salt rolls, figgy bars, and baked goods are must-tries--it perfectly complements the reading experience. The friendly, attentive staff, who are clearly passionate about bookselling, are always ready to offer a recommendation or assist, often going above and beyond. Whether you're looking for a quiet, bright nook to get some work done, a comfortable chair to sip a vanilla bean latte, or an engaging evening out for a poetry reading or live piano music, Pelican Bay delivers. It's a bookstore with character, clearly beloved by locals and a mandatory stop for any visitor. It's the kind of place you'll remember long after you've left Anacortes. Highly, highly recommend!

Great place for pictures, affordable great quality second hand books, and oh did I mention it's also a coffee shop. I mean could it get any better? No I don't think it could. I genuinely felt so happy the moment I stepped inside this store. It's just such a beautiful space that feels cozy and inviting. After walking around a bit I went to order a coffee. And I honestly don't think I've ever met nicer baristas in my life! They were all so sweet and kind and helpful! I tried out the fig leaf latte and the autumn tea latte and both were spectacular! Great flavor and smoothness. Overall I love this bookstore and it's well worth the drive! Definitely a hidden gem! I'll be back!!

Not only does it have small town flare, but it also has the largest assortment of used books that I've personally seen. The store sits inside a small house on the main strip of San Juan Island. It looks tiny from the outside, but, oh wow, does it hold entire worlds inside. There's a multitude of rooms all themed after each genre. You'll find everything from cookbooks, history, fantasy, young adult, sci-fi, history, fiction, self help, and autobiographies. Like other reviewers have mentioned you might have to do a bit of digging, as most of the books are stacked since they do not have the space on the shelves. Something else to note is that they do not allow food and drink inside, but they do have the cutest fireplace for you to place your hot coffee or tea on to keep it warm. Highly recommend checking out this spot when you're on San Juan Island, and be sure to stop by next-door to pick up a homie style lunch.
