Visiting family in the Seattle area. Driving north of downtown to Bothel. We visited Mill Geek Comics. A cool comic book store located in a unassuming business center among other shops and businesses. Upon entering you are greeted by a friendly staff. When I went there. There was a guy named John. John was cool and gave me the mini tour of the comic store. If there was something you were looking for. He was nice enough to show you the general area where to look. In the back room they had tables and tables of cheap dollar boxes. Tons of comic book goodness to look through at a great price. It took me a few minutes but I found some great comics to buy. I don't have enough good things to say about this shop. Russ is absolutely amazing and knowledgeable about all things comics. John is every bit as awesome! These guys have a wonderful shop that is clean and well organize. I come in every week now and know right where to look for what I want. They go the extra mile, they know what I like and make cool suggestions. Russ has sold me a lot of full runs, including Spider-Man and Conan to name a couple. They have a HUGE selection of affordable comics! They have everything from artwork to bundles, to graphic novels and books. I am so grateful to have met Russ and John as I started out my comic collection after a 30 year break. First time visitor and comic novice, I walked in and met Rob who gave me a tour of the shop along with tons of great info and insight into all different types of collecting, artists, and series. I walked out with a bunch of new Batman knowledge and some new Superman books (it took me 50 years to put those words together in a sentence). :) Truly appreciate the time and learning. UPDATE: 2 years since finding Mill Geek Comics and we still get the same amazing service every time we visit!!!! We found Mill Greek Coming by accident, and are so glad we did. We stopping in and started a pull box, then sort of got busy and 2 months later remembered. We were sure they would have deleted us and put our books back, but that was not the case. Not only did they have our pull, but the owned remembered who we were and had everything out and ready by the time we were done looking at more stuff. Stopped by for the first time with a friend who goes there frequently for comics. It's a bit hard to find at first, but that just means it's a treasure. Definitely a pretty good selection of comics. Heard that the owner only orders things that his customers request frequently, so the selection isn't as large as other places. However, there are also older comics in another room that are 50% off the cover price! Pretty damn good deal if you're patient enough to look. Also has Magic there. You can get a subscription box there for free and get 25% off your purchase if you do. Great shop and customer relationship. You give service and you commitment to come back and they give you a discount! The main space is pretty small, but in the other room (with the older comics), there's tables for those wanting to play Magic (I assume). The employee that helped my friend and I was really helpful and a great guy to talk to. Definitely going to return! read more

I love having the option to support a local business that's owned and run by someone who has an obvious passion for what they do. This place is easy to miss because it's in the back of the building, not facing the street (it's actually facing some apartments) but it's absolutely worth the treasure hunt! Cool place. Rus the owner is fun to talk to and that's what makes a great shop to me. they have supply issues with magic the gathering which is frustrating. The binder they keep for standard is smaller than it was a year ago when I first stepped in the store. it's a small business that deserves support and the owner is incredibly likable, but an improvement in selection for magic cards would make this shop amazing. read more

The best comic/card shop I've patronized. I started playing magic a couple years back and since have been looking for a shop to call home. Other shops in the area have been less than satisfactory in terms of friendly and helpful staff. While mill geeks might not be as big as some other shops it more than makes up for that with an amazing owner who will do everything in his power to make your experience stellar. A hidden treasure trove jam-packed with golden and silver age comics in great condition at reasonable prices. The kind of place I would have crawled over a mile of hot coals to get to when I was a kid..! it's a little tucked away, so be sure to use your GPS, and if you miss it the first time, circle back around for God's sake! There is almost no way you will find this without looking for it, but it's an excellent treasure if you take the time. I stopped by on a Thursday night and there were several gamer groups merrily playing away that readily invited me (just browsing) to join in their fun. The selection of old RPGs in the back is amazing, and the rest of the store is filled with lots of other great stuff. The owner is a champ who does right by his customers: I only checked the store out in the first place through the excellent word-of-mouth from a friend. This place is the best! They've got a very nice collection of comics, from the golden age to a healthy assortment of modern trades/graphic novels. They also do a healthy Magic the Gathering business, with standing nights for Commander/EDH on Thursday and Friday Night Magic on, well, Fridays. They've got quite a few singles for sale at very reasonable prices. It's small, but it's clean and the clientele is cheerful, friendly, and how do I put this.... socially acceptable for a nerd store (speaking as a proud nerd). The owner is a hell of a guy, and we're really lucky to have him and his store in the community. Quick note! this place can be hard to find: it's in the building behind the 7-11. but it's in back... not really visible from the street. Turn into the 7-11 and drive back and you'll find it. read more

This is NOT a comic book store, they are a gaming store that sells a few comics. I recommend Subspace Comics in Lynnwood as they are a true comic shop and have a far better selection of both new and back issues. Worst part is, they are having an anniversary this month and all their specials are about card games and when I called them out about being a comic book store and not a game store they deleted the comment on Facebook and blocked me. No foul language and no being a jerk but they don't care, if you're a comic book fan and not a gamer they don't care about you. They only care about the gamer. Go to Subspace Comics in Lynnwood, those folks there care about all their customers! read more

Kind owner who likes to work with kids and adults to find whatever it is that fills their hearts with joy. Shop is clean and organized. Frequent Magic or comic collections acquisitions can lend a certain degree of clutter temporarily. Such instances merely provide opportunities for the wary to pluck gems from the heaps at "I don't want to alphabetize those" prices. Hard to find, limited parking, and a cluttered store. Hard to see everything. Tables are all over the place for the regular gamers. Hard to browse. Not sure if I would make this a regular place for my comics and game needs. Better game and comic stores closer to home. read more

Ah yes the local geek store. I love the owner Russ, he's a very attentive and cool guy. He seems to care about his local customers. Typical BO smells and anti-social/anger issues abound with the local nerd herd here. Of course, these are expected considering this is a comic/board game/d&d shop. I was at home here being a geek myself. I do love the large amount of gaming tables, but I should say a little better store layout would probably help sales and keep new inventory coming in. Local gaming/events typically seem to happen until late at night, which is way cool for the local nerd that must game until late hours of the night (snort snort.. I was killed by an elf...ehhhhhhh.. snort snort... and then my mom didn't make me dinner.. snort snort...). Since I don't live far away it's common to hear the local nerds standing outside the store talking very loudly past 10pm (and I'm almost a block away..). It would be nice if the store customers were quieter outside the store late at night, the local dive bar short-bus riders are loud enough as it is. read more
