Apparently he said to an eight year old child, "Wow, so many directions, is she always like this?" My grandson wasn't amused and said, "Santa's not supposed to say mean things." Needless to say, we won't be returning and if you go, you should keep a close eye and ear on the snarky Santa.

We go to different places at least four times a year together, or on our own. One of the gals heard about White Branches on IG. I was surprised I never heard of the place. I've researched every place that's serves afternoon or high tea. It was at least a two hour drive each way for us but it was so worth it! When you first walked in the ladies said to me that this is my kind of place. That's because I'm a musical theater actress and when they saw all the items you can purchase that I wear they knew this place was for me. Then walking through the Alice in wonderland looking through the walking glass towards the theater. I felt at home like I wanted to step on stage and sing. I was overwhelmed by all the mask, tiaras, facinators, and gifts you can purchase because I wanted them all. I did spend a pretty penny, but I know that I'll wear them to all my events. But let me tell you about the food. So the last time we went to Victoria BC had high tea at the Empress we were all disappointed because it's not the way it used to be. The food was not impressive. Come to find out they have a new chef. Now White Branches...it was only Holly and Matt who is the owner working. The savories were delicious, the bread was so fluffy, the desserts were every single favorites of mine. They must've known I was coming. Every Mmmm that came out of my mouth. I could eat all my desserts because I was so full so I took them home for my snack. But the best part were the scones. My friend and I had to bring back the scones with the crunchy top that was sweet( I can't remember if it was peach) and soft and warm in the middle. So I took a couple home, my husband and one of my daughters ate them. Don't leave any for me...ugh! But my daughter who has traveled around the world because she's a flight attendant said that it was the best scone she has ever had. I hope Matt keeps that scone because next time we drive up we might order more to bring home. We are planning a spring time tea where will stay the night, see the tulips, then tea at white branches. Btw talk about tea, they had every flavor we loved. Also compared to a lot of the high tea places by where we live. White Branches prices are more reasonable that driving two hours away is worth it.

Schuh Farms is one of my favorite stands in the various farmers markets around Seattle to pick up…read morefresh strawberries. Coinciding with a recent visit to Deception Pass for the low tide in June, we decided to visit the actual farm stand up in Mt. Vernon on the way. This location consists firstly of a little building in front with a drive through and walk up window serving freshly made fruit smoothies, coffee, and ice cream. The only menu with pricing is located on the drive through side so it's a little inconvenient for walk ins! But at least for strawberries, they get fresh fruit right from the farm (we saw them walking in several flats of Rainiers as they opened up in the morning). Otherwise, the main store is in the barn-looking building behind that. When we visited in Mid-June, they were selling tons of different plants (50% off!), lots of freshly baked pies, and tons or strawberries! When we first walked in at 9:30 AM, the strawberries had literally just been brought to the stand; they were fresh as fresh can be. They had two varieties for the day: Albion (as with most Day-Neutral varieties, these are mediocre, but still better than grocery store varieties), and Rainier, one of the most flavorful varieties grown in Washington. We picked up a half flat for only $20, and would have bought more if not for the fact that we had already purchased 8 pounds of Upick Puget Crimsons from another farm just the previous day. We opted to also hit the little cafe to pick up one of Schuh Farms famous strawberry milkshakes. Strawberry Shake, 20oz ($8.50) - So delicious, the decadent dessert and ridiculously thick, rich, and creamy. Does this milkshake consist of strawberry blended with strawberry ice cream to amp up that fruity flavor? The strawberry is exceptionally jammy and it stays jammy even when the drink warms up. It somehow never gets watery like melted ice cream! (5/5) I've been buying from Schuh Farms ever since moving to Washington and I plan on continuing to be a customer in future years. Now I know there's a big advantage driving up to the farm instead of just stalking their stands at the farmers markets in town!

Just as we were about to leave, Jacob, who was finishing up for the night, noticed us outside. Instead of turning us away, he graciously turned the lights back on, opened the door, and welcomed us in! While we selected our chocolates, another couple also stopped in and made a purchase.
