My friends took me here for my birthday. As tea ladies we go all over the state, different states, including different countries. We go to different places at least four times a year together, or on our own. One of the gals heard about White Branches on IG. I was surprised I never heard of the place. I've researched every place that's serves afternoon or high tea. It was at least a two hour drive each way for us but it was so worth it! When you first walked in the ladies said to me that this is my kind of place. That's because I'm a musical theater actress and when they saw all the items you can purchase that I wear they knew this place was for me. Then walking through the Alice in wonderland looking through the walking glass towards the theater. I felt at home like I wanted to step on stage and sing. I was overwhelmed by all the mask, tiaras, facinators, and gifts you can purchase because I wanted them all. I did spend a pretty penny, but I know that I'll wear them to all my events. But let me tell you about the food. So the last time we went to Victoria BC had high tea at the Empress we were all disappointed because it's not the way it used to be. The food was not impressive. Come to find out they have a new chef. Now White Branches...it was only Holly and Matt who is the owner working. The savories were delicious, the bread was so fluffy, the desserts were every single favorites of mine. They must've known I was coming. Every Mmmm that came out of my mouth. I could eat all my desserts because I was so full so I took them home for my snack. But the best part were the scones. My friend and I had to bring back the scones with the crunchy top that was sweet( I can't remember if it was peach) and soft and warm in the middle. So I took a couple home, my husband and one of my daughters ate them. Don't leave any for me...ugh! But my daughter who has traveled around the world because she's a flight attendant said that it was the best scone she has ever had. I hope Matt keeps that scone because next time we drive up we might order more to bring home. We are planning a spring time tea where will stay the night, see the tulips, then tea at white branches. Btw talk about tea, they had every flavor we loved. Also compared to a lot of the high tea places by where we live. White Branches prices are more reasonable that driving two hours away is worth it. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Took my mom for afternoon tea. They have gluten-free and vegan options for those with any type of restriction. LOTS of tea options, which I look forward to trying in the future. This is such a beautiful and unique experience that everyone must try!! I was so beyond happy that they have vegan options that were DELICIOUS! I was blown away with every aspect. The atmosphere is whimsical, the food is creative and beyond delicious, the tea options are out of this world. I hope one day I can return. Wonderfully whimsical An elevator takes you up the the tea room and lounge. They did a great job decorating and making you feel like you've been transported. There are touches out wonderland throughout. I love that they let you smell the tea leaves before selecting a pot. They also steep the tea and remove the leaves so you don't have to worry about having an over steeped bitter cup of tea. The tea ware was cute and I was a big fan of the tiny silverware. The food tiers were all tasty. I liked having 2 different scones. I was also surprised by how much I enjoyed the egg salad sandwich. We will have to come back with a larger party to experience the private wonderland room. read more

White Branches is an *experience* ! This utterly charming tea house has limited hours, so be sure to check their website, but definitely plan your day around a visit. Or, better yet, make a reservation for a special lunch or afternoon tea in the secret room. When you arrive at the address, you'll take the elevator to the second floor, where you step into an absolute visual feast from floor to ceiling. Eight foot tall golden giraffe chandelier? Yes! Secret room accessed by pulling the "hand"le sticking out of a hedge? Why not! A three-dimensional wall of owls? Of course. Whimsy and unexpected delights at every turn. You could spend all day just exploring the space, but make sure you take time for tea. Their house blend is delicious, served in teapots and vintage china. We sampled the fruit dish, cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad, and fresh (warm out of the oven!) peach scones, and every bite was delicious. The scones were warm, perfectly peachy, and not too sweet. The chicken salad was herby and fabulous. The cucumber sandwiches were crisp and nicely accented with dill butter. This place would be perfect for a child's tea party, or a ladies lunch or special birthday. They also have private meeting rooms, and a couple of stage areas for performances and events. Matthew (owner) and staff were gracious and accommodating. Overall, this place gets an enthusiastic A+ for the fun and funky factor, the ambiance, the food/tea, and the staff. read more

This is the most amazing tea room I have ever been to. It was like stepping into a Vegas show. Every detail was so specific and perfect for the ambience. It was cozy and whimsical. The hosts were so welcoming. Matthew gave us a tour of the cabaret and theater which hosts special events. I would love to have my next big event here. Prices were comparable to other places but the decor and ambience were leagues above all the others. I had the standard tea set and it was delicious and fresh. Plenty of food per person to be full. The Crème de La Earl tea was so fragrant. I usually don't like London Fog tea but this one was really nice. I will definitely be returning soon. So glad I found this place. read more

I made a special trip from Tacoma to see this, unfortunately I didn't have anyone to join me BUT solo-dining is no big deal! :) I wish I lived closer so that I could come visit more often, especially for their events. The elevator lobby is one of the coolest I've seen, truly impressive and really adds to the curiosity leading up to what awaits you. If ever there was a place where one could go to be lost and freely daydream, this would be the place. Everything is so well-decorated, opulent, and displayed, nothing seems out of place or just thrown together. It's beautifully designed and while nothing is matching, it doesn't appear to be chaotic or carelessly thrown together. I think the lights in the darkly decorated spaces should be a little less bright to have some ambiance added but the spaces weren't actively being used so for showcasing purposes, I get it. This is a multi-purpose space with a separate dining area but also a mini-stage with cabaret and gifts as well as an in-the-works theatre. My tea experience is the only thing I'd not give a 5 star on, It's a solid 4.5. Everything tasted homemade but it unfortunately didn't taste overly fresh. The sandwiches seemed unusually tiny and were cut a bit strangely. Still, the flavors were good and I'd certainly come for the tea service again. The scones and tea were delicious, I had their house tea and had mine with milk and sugar. It was perfection. Service was prompt and cordial. The owner Matthew is positively delightful. The dining room was laid out nicely though I could see if they were a full-house it would be quite cramped. Whimsical? Check. Magical? Check. Beautiful, cheeky, charming? Check, check, check! I had no idea what to expect, but I was completely blown away. Let me start with the decor - it's like a secret dollhouse where walls open and doors pop out of nowhere. There are sparkles and shadows in each room, and I cannot WAIT to go to a show there. The space is big, but intimate, and it's a perfect location for anything from a raunchy bachelorette to a fairytale girls' tea party birthday to a smaller wedding. I had tea service, and let me tell you. The Creme de Earl is a delightful tea with a mellow, soft flavor, and it's worth purchasing a bag to take home. There are absolutely delicious tea snacks that make you feel like you're sitting at a royal tea hour (especially the scones----YUM), and the presentation is absolutely perfect. What really makes it truly an incredible experience, however, is the service. Not only the actual serving of the food, but the lovely people all around to help make it feel like everything was set up especially for you. I can't thank the staff and Matthew, the proprietor, enough, for such an impressive and marvelous time. The tea room has been here for several enjoyable years but it has moved to a whole new level with the new owner, Matthew White. He has taken over the whole top floor of the building and each area has a specific wonderful venue opening there...very theatrical in aspect and should be a great deal of fun. It looks sleek and very upscale. The tea was very good and the time spent with Matthew getting the grand tour and all the wonderful ins and outs was great fun. Thanks for spending that time with us. I was lucky enough as part of the Affinity Senior Community Founder's group to White Branches. I was simply magical. The entire restaurant is filled with the most beautiful and artistic displays. Though it is very eclectic--it all works. The food was wonderful, along with the tea, and the desserts were exquisite. Service was outstanding as the staff is friendly and so helpful. I can't wait to take my daughter and my grand-daughter there. The last time we had tea together was at the American Girl Doll Store at the Grove in Beverley Hills. White Branches was simply magical! From the moment you take the elevator up to the second floor of the Old Town Grainery Bldg in Mount Vernon, your eyes will be enthralled and delighted with how Matthew White has created this sumptuously decorated space with Tea Room and theatres. Love this place! We came here to celebrate my daughter's birthday and everyone was so nice and welcoming. We had a personal tour from Matthew, one of the owners. We enjoyed seeing the unique rooms and secret doorways. The earl grey tea they served was delicious. My husband is usually not a fan of tea, but he enjoyed their tea that we bought some to take home. The food was delicious. My kids had hot chocolate with theirs and it came with a chocolate filled marshmallow. They were in heaven. If you're ever in the Mt. This was a serendipitous find for us! We were passing through on our way to Anacortes looking for a place to eat and saw this tea shop. We didn't expect them to be able to seat us without a reservation but they were able to and the food and service were wonderful. The owner showed us some of their event spaces as well and even though it's an hours drive from our house we'll be back again this summer. My 8 year old granddaughter and I had a magical time at White Branches! She is celiac but they were able to accommodate her with a really awesome children's tea that was gluten free! I'm vegan/gluten free and was delighted they were able to do a complete tea for me as well. After a very delicious tea we could shop and enjoy the fun environment that had surprises around every corner. The staff was friendly as well and to top it off the Easter bunny made an appearance. I highly recommend White Branches. With our diet restrictions we don't eat out often so even though this was spendy, I can't think of a more worthwhile splurge.
