I got it without the bananas foster sauce because it has alcohol in it. The shrimp and grits were really tasty. My husband had the shrimp and grits minus the andouille with a traditional breakfast. We are in our way home to Florida, stopped to have some breakfast . My 7 year old daughter ordered a chocolate milk. The waitress came later with a glass with a brown beverage and some wipe cream , my daughter drank that and minutes later the waitress came saying the beverage has alcohol. No only this is a horrible mistake and lack of organization but my daughter has a tree nut / peanut allergy and the beverage was made with Nutella she normally reacts with anaphylactic reactions that means she can die. We are on our way praying for her not to have a reaction but we want to make sure this location has some kind of penalty because obviously they don't know how to manage alcohol in their location. How they don't know how to differentiate a kids drink or non alcoholic drinks from alcoholic drinks . Besides that they don't have any idea what is Gluten a responsible business owner would train their employees about alcohol management and allergies. read more

This is my second time eating at this chain (different locations), and although I had a much better experience at this location, the place just isn't my favorite brunch option. They had skim milk for coffee, which was exciting, and the Skinny Omelet was much better at this location than it was at their Shreveport spot. Also, I didn't have to have a back and forth discussion on having a different fruit option -the waitress told me they could do plain strawberries instead of the fruit mix. SOLD! I did not, however, like that despite my making it very clear that I'm gluten free, and that I didn't want any bread near my plate, my dish still came with an English Muffin right on top. To the waitress' credit, she did notice it as she was putting it down in front of me, and offered to have the kitchen remake the dish. Thankfully, I'm not that sensitive to wheat/gluten and I was able to just remove the bread from the plate. Two things to note: The waitress should have probably checked the food for accuracy prior to bringing it out to the table, and the kitchen staff should pay more attention to the orders, especially when allergies/sensitivities are at play. Being gluten free is not a preference for me, it is dietary obligation. read more

Unique menu items and an excellent wait staff, this is a good upscale breakfast. My daughter wanted to eat here, and she nailed it. I love ABE...except this one. This was the 4th ABE I've been to. First was in Mountain Brook, Alabama. It was super happy when I found that ABE was a chain. I got my first souvenir mug here and have collected couple more from Shreveport and Dallas. I decided to visit the BR location so I could get my fourth mug. I did get my fourth mug but will most likely never return. Below are just some of the reasons..... -- I was seated at the bar by the hostess. I sat at the bar for 5-10 minutes (which felt like an eternity) before anyone came to greet me or even offered a drink. The restaurant was barely half full and it was late lunch hour. -- The restaurant had a foul odor. I smelt the odor as soon as I walked in and the odor was evident all throughout the restaurant. -- The service was sub-par at best. As soon as I got my food, no one ever came back to my table except to bring me my check. -- The food was terrible. I ordered the Crabcake Crostinis. The grilled french bread was soaking in oil. It was actually pretty disgusting. The crabcakes were VERY mushy tasting. Half the salad was wilted. Since I got a BR ABE mug, I won't return to this location. Went for brunch last Sunday. The wait was 40 minutes long so we were expecting great things. Managed to skip the wait by snagging an empty outside table (first come first serve like the bar) due it being a little nippy out. The staff was great from the hostesses to our server. Where it all falls apart is the food itself. I ordered the Benedict Oscar, an Eggs Benedict twist that adds grilled steak, crabmeat, and asparagus. Sounds good, right? The food arrived lukewarm and lacking all flavor. I'm not trying to be mean here but it really is impressive how they managed to take all these naturally delicious and flavor packed ingredients and make them so utterly bland and tasteless. The steak obviously had not been seasoned before hitting the grill. The crabmeat was nothing special. The bearnise sauce was all wrong to the point that I felt the dish should not be advertised under the Eggs Benedict section at all. The best part of the whole thing was the asparagus and let's be honest, Mother Nature did most of the work on that one. Even my girlfriend admitted she could've gone to Waffle House down the street for a better (and cheaper) waffle. All in all, it was a nice place with cool people working there but we won't be back. It's all about the food at the end of the day, good service only gets you so far. So can I talk about how INCREDIBLE THE SERVICE WAS!!!!! my cousins and I came in for brunch after a small family reunion and we were super hungry!!! I will admit, the food took forever to come, but the service from the server JAY made the wait wayyyyy better. She cake to check on us even when she didn't have too. She made us feel welcome and from the moment we moved to her section, I could already tell she was an awesome person. Unfortunately we had to move from another section because the server completely forgot about us. But we didn't care because JAY WAS THE BEST AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST. After some bad restaurant experiences in the area, my husband and I decided to check out this cafe recommended to us by a friend. The ambiance was nice. It's also very clean inside and the hostess was incredibly friendly. Our waiter was named Cary and he did an awesome job. He was attentive and playful. We ordered the beignets. These were more like little buttermilk biscuits rolled in powdered sugar and served with a honey / orange sauce on the side. Delicious. This is the first place I've been where they weren't greasy. I also ordered a cappuccino and it was perfect with the appetizer. My husband got the Benedict Oscar which was a spin on eggs Benedict with steak and asparagus. My husband cleaned his plate. I ordered the Floridian which was a signature item. It's an omelette filled with cream cheese, topped with garlic, Monterey Jack cheese, crab meat and green onions. The egg was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy, and the combinations of flavor was something I'm dying to recreate at home. Both of our meals came with a side of seasoned potatoes. So good! I was going to give it four stars because it was a little pricey but then I was thinking that it's really worth it for the quality of food. Great place. Another Broken Egg...name's a bit odd, but maybe that's why I liked it! Went here with a friend that I hadn't seen in waaaaay too long and I'm sure glad he brought me here. The interior looks very much like a nice southern home (well we are in the Deep South) with quaint paintings on the walls, a red hue of painted wood, and cozy chandeliers along the ceiling. We got a nice table by the window and boy was I starving so we immediately threw in an order of beignets. Gotta do it here right? Our waiter Malik was right on it - this man knew we were hungry and was one of the friendliest, good-natured waiters I met on my trip to LA. Go Malik! The beignets were truly fantastical. I know what I said. The expected pounds of powdered sugar were complemented by this delicious citrus syrup on the side that really twisted the flavor of the beignets in my mouth to new heights of happiness. Happy, happy, happy to be here at this point. Needed to work through the hangover so I grabbed a coffee here too, which comes in one of their cute little ABE mugs that reminded me of Winnie the Pooh's honey pot. Not to mention the coffee was pretty good too! I love breakfast food and the options here were endless. I had nearly finished all the beignets before I could make a decision on what I wanted. And damn I found it! I'm a sucker for Hollandaise sauce so the "Signature Benedicts" section caught my eye on this succulent menu. I went with the Veggie Benedict (duh vegetarian blah blah), and when this baby came my stomach went wild. Two English muffins topped with savory sauteed spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, two wonderfully poached eggs (just runny enough), and of course the godly Hollandaise. While the sauce was great, I couldn't help but squirm with elation when I tasted the spinach. Absolutely perfect. All the foods in the dish went well together and the English muffin below gave each bite enough texture to blend it all well. And I almost forgot - the side of country potatoes were just how they should be, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not too salty. If I come across another one of these restaurants I'll definitely have to drop in a see what's good because the food, setting, and waiter (yeh Malik) really made my day and helped a lengthy recovery from a hard Baton Rouge night! read more

So funny story...I was experiencing one of the worst hangovers in recent memory last time I was here. Like other reviewers, I don't know where to begin. I suppose the beginning is a good place. We, a party of 4, arrived and were put on the waiting list; 20-25 min. After 45min we grew impatient and decided we needed a cocktail to alleviate the hunger.. we proceed to the bar. At the bar we wait... and wait... and wait.. about 15min and not one of the many servers wanted to take a drink order. We tire of waiting. Now 1hr plus into our wait I finally decide it is time to inquire where we are on the list. As a previous server, I understand a wait is a wait and the more you ask will not make the wait any less.. nevertheless I march up to see my name had been crossed out. No, my buzzer had not gone off. We are promptly seated. Thereafter the waiting again begins. The server promptly takes our drink order (more to come on this) as well as our appetizer order. The food arrives about 15min later- and then we get our drinks about 5min after that. The drink: I order a mimosa without OJ. The server suggests I can order the regular mimosa for 6$ or order 2 glasses for 9$. Obviously the drinker and the bargain hunter in me jump at the change to basically get a second glass for only 3$ more! Wrong. The 2 glasses turns out to be a mini bottle that is exactly 1.25 glasses (in a flute glass as opposed to the slightly larger glass the mimosa comes in). Now I have paid 9$ for a mimosa without OJ. The food was good, though nothing I would miss. Note: This was my first time in the BR location. Earlier this summer I went to the Sandestin location in FL- there I had a great experience. read more

I asked that they replace the poached egg to a fried egg cooked through. They still brought me a poached egg. I asked them to fix it and they basically brought back a boiled egg. I've eaten here a few times and must say it's always great. Although I usually come for Sunday brunch never during lunch time like I did this day. There wasn't a wait to be seated which is great for lunch time dining. It did take longer than normal to get drinks, food and our check. Our server did explain she had an 8 too she was taking care of at the same time. So management should have probably just let her focus on that it she was still a great server.
