The flavors were reminiscent of my family recipes. The batter on the fried green tomatoes was perfect. The service deserves its own paragraph. Our server was Mila (sp?). Her attention to detail and attentiveness to our experience was top 10 among all my international and domestic dining experiences. We had our 18 month old daughter with us and she made us feel welcomed and was attentive to the experience of our child as well. I highly recommend her table if you are fortunate enough to experience her excellent service. The atmosphere is true to its bistro title. Cozy, intimate and well designed. I was expecting my chicken to be spicy or to at least taste like jerk seasoning but it didn't at all. It was more like a BBQ sauce with no heat at all. As a restaurant manager, I'll never speak poorly about another restaurant. I'll highlight the best of the night. Our server was busy, but very informative, as we had questions about everything. Firstly, I chose this restaurant because of attentive and quality customer service in the past. But, on August 15, my guests and I did not enjoy our experience for my birthday dinner. The skillet cornbread was hard, the appetizer egg rolls were carrot-laden to a fault, and my gumbo was so thick you could have called it rice and gravy. I guess the worst part about my night is when the waiter admitted to never putting in our tables entree orders at 9:00.. Pretty sure we ordered around 8:20. The restaurant closed at 9. My co worker and I went here for lunch and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the small skilled cornbread as a appetizer and it was the best thing ive ever tasted. I opted to eat at this place strictly for the cornbread and I'll be back for that same reason. It amazing it melts in your mouth once you add the syrup and the butter provided. The Tasso pasta was a lunch portion but I had enough left over to eat for dinner they give you a nice portion. It's also seasoned pretty well. I believe I also asked for the chicken to be blackened so that was a plus. I had the house salad, the do not carry ranch dressing but they had this particular dressing that I can remember the name of tha was a cross between Caesar and Greek dressing it was amazing. Coming in on a Monday evening without a reservation, we were able to get a table, but the place was quickly full even the night before a major blizzard! Highly recommend reservations for this local as it is in demand and after eating here, you will understand why. For the crawfish étouffée, Brussels (would not get again), French onion soup and shrimp and grits (not pictured) the étouffée was delicious. The best experience of flavor and soul prepared perfectly and sound can only be found at this place. My first visit was in February and let's just say I am a regular and my favorite thing to order is the Rosemary Pear Martini, skillet cornbread and the shrimp and grit plate. Everything is good! The service is really nice with being seated in a short period of time and a server comes to take your order timely too. If it's busy you may have to wait but I've never waited over a few minutes to be seated. The building at this establishment gives you a nice "warehouse" vibe with nice pictures and things that reminds you of Louisiana. Hi! It's me, your new favorite spot to grab a bite to eat downtown in BR! Highly recommend getting the cornbread as an appetizer but also, why not as a dessert?! We each got a couple glasses of wine and beer with our meal. We ended up splitting the Cajun Grouper (spicy!) with a side of braised collard greens (which were outstanding and I could eat that all by itself). Service was quick, food never took too long and were there in under an hour and a half. Love the quaintness of this restaurant. Definitely will sit at the bar next time we go but highly recommend for date night, eating by yourself or just wanting a great, home cooked meal! Dined here two night in a row because it was so good. Had the cornbread for "one" which is served with cinnamon infused butter and maple syrup. Very good. Then ordered jerk fried chicken which was amazing as were the old fashions. Then last night I started with cup , which is really a small bowl, of gumbo which was very good plus the Boudin balls which were also good. Main was the Cajun fish which was again amazing.
