    Fried green tomatoes

Continue Celebrating my birthday with dinner @ Cecelia Creole Bistro. I started off with the appetizer Fried Green Tomatoes/superb. For my dinner entree, I ordered the Jerk fried chicken over red beans and rice/exceptional. I was very satisfied with my choices. Also I have a bottle of Riesling very good. Topped off with dessert crème brûlée/divine. The service was great our waitress checked on us during our entire stay. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant has a great vibe, music, dim lights and perfect atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Safe choice for a nice dinner downtown. This place is always busy. Book ahead. Creative and tasty craft cocktails and food is all around good. I'd suggest getting your salad dressing on the side though. The wedge salad looked like a bowl of ice cream.

This place is so good I took my leftovers all the way to Florida with me the next day. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Super cute place, food is beyond excellent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Ask for Morgan if you're able to request her. She's so much fun.

    Skip egg rolls. No good.

Just mediocre food and what made it worse I waited for it. The egg rolls were nasty. The sauce was too much and lacked actual andouille flavor. The pork belly was tasteless. The shrimp pasta was just ok. Shrimp had too much black pepper. The pistolette was good. Didn't even bother with dessert. Was already disappointed enough. Service at bar was slow as apparently she has to do more than just bar. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Tiny place nice ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This was my second time at Cecelia, and this visit was for a company event. We had the upstairs venue rented out with a buffet, and everything was absolutely delicious. The space itself was perfect. Stylish, spacious, and great for hosting any type of gathering. I've also dined in the downstairs restaurant, and the food there is just as impressive. Whether you're planning an event or simply looking for a great spot downtown for lunch or dinner, Cecelia is definitely worth it.

My co worker and I went here for lunch and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the small skilled cornbread as a appetizer and it was the best thing ive ever tasted. I opted to eat at this place strictly for the cornbread and I'll be back for that same reason. It amazing it melts in your mouth once you add the syrup and the butter provided. The Tasso pasta was a lunch portion but I had enough left over to eat for dinner they give you a nice portion. It's also seasoned pretty well. I believe I also asked for the chicken to be blackened so that was a plus. I had the house salad, the do not carry ranch dressing but they had this particular dressing that I can remember the name of tha was a cross between Caesar and Greek dressing it was amazing. I will definitely be back, especially for the corn bread. The service could've been a bit better we didn't really get refills on water and she wasn't as attentive.

This restaurant is a hidden gem located in downtown Baton Rouge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is chic and classy, great for dinner dates, large groups, etc.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went for a birthday dinner a couple of weeks ago and were not at all disappointed![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had the andouille and pork egg rolls and sweet and spicy alligator bites as appetizers. Both were very flavorful, the alligator was tender and not gamey in taste. Service was great, attentive, warm and welcoming. Our waitress suggested menu items and helped with entree selections. Between our whole group everyone had a different dish from the short ribs, Jerk fried chicken breast and red beans and rice, and more. The crème brûlée was very delicious also, not too sweet. I had the blackened red fish dish with smoked collard greens, corn grits, all topped with crawfish étouffée. This dish was outstanding, absolute culinary genius and a twist on creole cuisine. The cocktails were also delicious, refreshing, and perfectly mixed. I had the blueberry lemon drop martini with fresh muddled berries and the pomegranate martini. This restaurant is a very nice addition to my regular rotation! I will be back soon.

Some of the worst food ever! Really thought we found a new place. Wrong! We order several things and only liked the water. From the egg rolls to the red beans were awful. Cecelia Creole Bistro 421 N 3rd St Suite B, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 IG: Tonylameats Restaurant Week at Cecilia Creole Bistro did NOT disappoint! Everything was flawless! From the creamy crab & brie soup and deviled eggs with tasso jam to crispy duck rangoon, tender smoked beef cheeks (my personal favorite), and that mahi mahi étouffée-style risotto! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cecelia is located in downtown Baton Rouge and it is the perfect restaurant for an intimate date night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My date and I did not make reservations but there was sitting available at the bar. The bartender was very nice and sweet and she made an excellent cocktail. I was not as impressed with my entree as the chicken lacked flavor. It was supposed to be jerk flavored but it was more so a fried chicken breast. I will say the red beans and rice were delicious. Overall this restaurant is worth a try.

We found Parrain's Seafood while searching for authentic Louisiana food and a good po'boy/seafood…read morespot before making our drive back home to Houston. We were in Baton Rouge helping our grandson move into his dorm as an incoming freshman at LSU, and Parrain's kept coming up in our searches and reviews. We decided to give it a try, and I'm SO glad we did! We visited on a Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m., and when I tell you EVERYBODY and their family was there... I mean everybody! The parking lot was packed. There is plenty of parking, but there were so many people that we still had to hunt for a spot. Thankfully, we found one under a shade tree because it was HOT! When we walked up, we fully expected a long wait. There is plenty of outdoor seating for people waiting, and I also noticed they have both steps and an accessibility ramp leading to the entrance. My daughter and I sat down while my husband stood in line to put our name on the list. About five minutes later, he was waving for us to come inside! Apparently, many of the people waiting were large groups and families coming from church, but since there were only three of us, they were able to seat us almost immediately. HUGE plus! Once inside, it was BUSY, BUSY, BUSY. It took our server a little while to initially get to us, but considering how packed the restaurant was, it really wasn't bad at all. Our waitress was very nice, and I was actually impressed with how quickly our food came out. Now let's talk about the FOOD!! We first ordered the onion rings for an appetizer... super delicious I ordered the fried shrimp platter, and those shrimp were fried to PERFECTION! Crispy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The meal also came with salad, fries, hush puppies, and a side. The hush puppies were SO GOOD! They are shaped almost like little donut holes... crispy on the outside and soft and savory on the inside. Delicious! For my side, I chose the fresh green beans instead of the dirty rice. Unfortunately, those were the one thing I didn't enjoy. They didn't have much flavor to me and seemed a little undercooked. Next time, I'll definitely choose another side. My husband ordered the fried catfish platter with dirty rice, coleslaw, and fries, and he loved everything. I tasted his coleslaw, and OH MY GOODNESS! Get the coleslaw! It was different from any coleslaw I've had before. It has whole peanuts in it, which sounds unusual, but somehow it WORKS! The peanuts add this wonderful crunch and flavor. It was SO good. And the French fries!! I've never seen fries cut this way before. They're almost shaped like little Scoop Fritos, with a crispy outside and soft potato inside. So unique and really good! My daughter ordered the catfish strips and fries from the kids' menu. These weren't processed little nuggets... they were actual pieces of catfish cut into strips, and she really enjoyed them. She also ordered the crab fingers, and those were another 10/10! They were incredibly well-seasoned with a little spice and tons of flavor. I tasted one and wanted MORE! I'm watching my sodium intake, so I behaved myself, but they were absolutely delicious. Overall, Parrain's was a 10/10 for us. The only thing I wouldn't personally order again would be the green beans. Everything else, from the shrimp and catfish to those amazing hush puppies, unique fries, crab fingers, and especially that coleslaw, was DELICIOUS. Yes, it was crowded and lively, but we still received really good service and didn't have to wait nearly as long as we expected. With our grandson now attending LSU, we'll be making plenty of trips back to Baton Rouge, and Parrain's has officially made our list of places we will be visiting again!

I had really been looking forward to trying Parrain's Seafood, but unfortunately my experience was…read moredisappointing. Our waitress, Kate M., didn't have the best customer service. She came across as short, unfriendly, and overall not very pleasant. I first ordered a Banana Foster's Martini, but she came back and said they didn't have the ingredients. No problem--I asked for an Espresso Martini instead. A few minutes later, after bringing everyone else's drinks, she returned and simply said they couldn't make that either and asked if I wanted something else. At that point, I just declined. When it was time to order, our table had nine people. She took my husband's order, then went around the table taking everyone else's order. By the time she got back to me, she said, "Okay, is that it?" I had to remind her that she hadn't taken my order yet. I ordered the crab and corn bisque, a salad, and the stuffed catfish with creamed spinach. The salad came out quickly and was very good. Then everyone else at the table received their meals while I only received my bisque. After waiting, I was told my stuffed catfish "didn't come out right" and had to be remade. At that point, I honestly wondered if it was a joke. It wasn't. By the time my entrée arrived, everyone else was nearly finished eating. To the restaurant's credit, they did remove the stuffed catfish from my bill, and I appreciated that. However, the entire experience left me feeling overlooked from start to finish. My biggest suggestion would be for our waitress to work on her customer service. A smile goes a long way. Saying things like "Give me that plate," slamming cups onto the table, and appearing annoyed throughout the meal doesn't create a welcoming dining experience. Hospitality is just as important as the food, and I hope this feedback is taken constructively.

When did dirt become "seasoning." Unless y'all have invented invisible Cajun dirt seasoning. Customers do not expect to purchase filthy, dirty, cold, crabs from a company hailing an 'outstanding, legendary reputation as a top-tier local institution, highly praised for its exceptionally fresh Gulf catch and serving quality food.' When returning the crabs for a refund, the lady giving the refund trying to convince my husband to keep them dirty cold things said, "We sell crabs at room temperature. We don't sell hot crabs." Ya'll the receipt clearly says, "HOT CRABS." Did she not realize the infraction she admitted! She basically confirmed they commit food violations, not keeping food at proper temperature!! How about that? He told her to refund our money back. Cleanliness and proper food temperature matter and this is not the first time I have returned dirty, cold, CRABS, back for a refund. Your hot food portions also have shrunk considerably yet your prices had increased tremendously. People are paying more for less. Tony's, this horrible economy does not support greed, especially dirty greed especially where improper food handling or poor food prep can lead to food borne illnesses. Guess who's leading the pack!!! "Tony's Seafood: "Located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the largest seafood market in the Gulf South operates under a strict operational standard that prioritizes extensive washing and sorting of live local blue crabs and crawfish prior to boiling or retail packaging to strip away pond and bayou mud." ARE THEY PRACTICING STANDARDS THEY ADVOCATE? Things that make you go hmmmmmm...... Louisiana Crawfish Company "instruct to physically rinse mud and marsh grit off blue crabs before they hit the boiling pot." As the song say, "You better shop around." I'll be spending my money elsewhere. Y'all can keep your overpriced food and swamp dirt "seasoned crabbage garbage."
