Shrimp & Grits & a Dirty Vodka Martini
Patrick G.

Stopped in for lunch as it came highly recommended. This establishment is nice, clean & relaxing. The staff, food & drinks were all excellent.

The foods is salty, I ordered gumbo (which I do not recommend) . It tasted like a bland liquid paste with sausage. My other guests order shrimp etouffee and shrimp with grits and we shared the alligator. We agreed that all dishes ordered were too salty for any liking.

This was my second time at Cecelia, and this visit was for a company event. We had the upstairs venue rented out with a buffet, and everything was absolutely delicious. The space itself was perfect. Stylish, spacious, and great for hosting any type of gathering. I've also dined in the downstairs restaurant, and the food there is just as impressive. Whether you're planning an event or simply looking for a great spot downtown for lunch or dinner, Cecelia is definitely worth it.

My co worker and I went here for lunch and we weren't disappointed. We ordered the small skilled cornbread as a appetizer and it was the best thing ive ever tasted. I opted to eat at this place strictly for the cornbread and I'll be back for that same reason. It amazing it melts in your mouth once you add the syrup and the butter provided. The Tasso pasta was a lunch portion but I had enough left over to eat for dinner they give you a nice portion. It's also seasoned pretty well. I believe I also asked for the chicken to be blackened so that was a plus. I had the house salad, the do not carry ranch dressing but they had this particular dressing that I can remember the name of tha was a cross between Caesar and Greek dressing it was amazing. I will definitely be back, especially for the corn bread. The service could've been a bit better we didn't really get refills on water and she wasn't as attentive.

Absolutely delicious!!! Service was awesome and the food was fantastic. Best dirty martini I've had in a long time!

Had a fantastic experience at Cecelia Creole Bistro. Tried the fried alligator bites and the étouffée, and both were excellent. Great introduction to Creole flavors - everything was well-seasoned and really satisfying. What stood out just as much as the food was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel welcoming from start to finish. The atmosphere inside is also really cool - stylish, comfortable, and full of character. It has that perfect blend of modern and classic Louisiana charm that makes you want to stay a while. Overall, great food, great service, and a great vibe. Would definitely come back.

Cecelia is located in downtown Baton Rouge and it is the perfect restaurant for an intimate date night. My date and I did not make reservations but there was sitting available at the bar. The bartender was very nice and sweet and she made an excellent cocktail. I was not as impressed with my entree as the chicken lacked flavor. It was supposed to be jerk flavored but it was more so a fried chicken breast. I will say the red beans and rice were delicious. Overall this restaurant is worth a try.

Blackened grouper

Amazing! The service was great a delicious the food was even better. Delicious! The special was a blackened grouper with corn remoulade and shrimp with asparagus. Hubby had the shrimp and grits. Just perfect!

I hate to tell anyone else how amazing this place is bc the secret is out and we now have to make a reservation to get in. We have never been disappointed with any dish, or the service.

I've been wanting to try Cecelia Creole Bistro for a long time! Let's just say......it was well worth the wait. Such a great place for a day date or even a get-together with friends. We didn't have to wait to be seated for early lunch. Everything we ate came out quick and tasted delicious!

Crab Cake with Blackberry Lemondrop

Had a great experience at Cecelia Creole Bistro. I ordered the shrimp and corn bisque with a crab cake, and both were delicious. The bisque was creamy and full of flavor with plenty of shrimp and sweet corn, and the crab cake was perfectly seasoned with a nice crisp on the outside. I also had a blackberry lemon drop that was refreshing and well-balanced. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere that's definitely a spot worth visiting in downtown Baton Rouge.

Found this cute little place on Yelp, located down town. Totally enjoyed the crap cake, short ribs and mash potatoes They make a mean lemon drop martini too! Great staff and service too! Can't wait to visit again!

Holy cow! This place is so good! Saw by the reviews this place gets packed so we went a little early and got right in. The staff is very attentive and the hostess didn't just stand behind the desk. You can tell that everyone cares about this place. We got the cornbread. It was so good - could be in the dessert menu. The fried green tomatoes on a crostini with pimento cheese, topped with bacon jam. Y'all this was my favorite bite tonight! So so good! As I'm not a huge pimento cheese fan. - this was fresh and delicious! I had the shrimp and grits as my entree and my husband had the pork chop with Brussel sprouts and polenta. I like savory shrimp and grits - these were bbq. Still good though. Husband loved the pork chops. Would 100% come again!!!

They have been featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive In's, and Dives" and have the pictures with Guy Fieri prominently displayed to prove it. The interior is eclectic, which is comforting. While BBQ is the main emphasis here, there are a number of other things on the menu. One of these that's really popular is the seafood stuffed potatoes. These are gigantic baked potatoes that come with shrimp or catfish, with our without crawfish étouffée. Seafood is a definite option here, and one can have it on Friday or any other day. But let's discuss the BBQ. They have smoked turkey that's never dry, and this is great in a sandwich or plate. The smoked wings are another favorite of mine. Then there is the smoked meatloaf, which is great in po-boy form. The ribs and brisket are also very worthy options. I think a two meat plate is a good way to enjoy the BBQ as it allows variety in tasting! Then one has to be pleased by the wide selection of sides. Variety is always great, especially when it includes uncommonly great options like fried green beans, red beans and rice, and Cajun Dirty Rice. One can always get coleslaw and beans if you are a fan of the classics. They even have desserts, if one has any room left for them. I rarely do...

Fair warning you'll probably need a nap afterward. The restaurant has a sharp, modern aesthetic and is consistently spotless. The Service: This is one of the few places where the service is truly flawless. The staff is prompt, accommodating, and friendly every single time. My only small knocks on the place is Parking and music. Be prepared to pay for a spot and walk a couple of blocks. Occasionally, the music is a bit too high, which can make having a conversation a little hard. Overall the best lunch stop for downtown.

Parking is difficult, but that's typical of downtown BR. I parked in the parking garage not far from the restaurant, and it was fine. We sat at the bar because the restaurant was a tad crowded for a Thursday night. There were plenty of open seats at the bar and tons of TVs to watch. The bartender was great and service was good. We came in December, so it was tastefully decorated for the holidays. I got the chicken Caesar wrap and my friend got the shrimp po boy. The wrap was so good and the fries were delicious! The po boy was a huge serving and came with a bunch of shrimp on it. A good place to consider!
