I'm back at Anh Dao, my absolute favourite pho spot downtown. I usually get the N13, the Bun Bo Hue, which is now the N12 since they revamped their menu (meaning price increases). At least this time around, they're giving out a plate of shrimp chips to each table, which is a nice addition. As for the food, my Bun Bo Hue did not disappoint. I asked for no green onions this time, and they were able to accommodate that. Great meal, and I'll be back once I'm craving it again.

Go to viet food on Spadina. Fast service. Tight space but makes it up through great food. Weekends they have a pho special ;)

Vermicelli with spring roll and grilled beef wrapped on betel leaf

This place has been on my list for a while since I frequent the restaurant across this resto so often that I see it outside the window haha. I have been here a number of times now and I usually order the same thing (vermicelli with spring roll and grilled beef wrapped on betel leaf) Quality and quantity are very consistent. The only downside is that they take cash only. I do not normally eat Vietnamese food outside since I eat at home. I do recommend this as one of the places that I would go to for Vietnamese food though. The environment is like other Vietnamese restaurants but with a more upgraded version (great art)!

I've been going to Anh Dao for years, even before they upgraded the restaurant. The food quality has been great, consistent and flavourful each time I've come. Staff are always quick and efficient. Love coming here with friends and family!

Pho with rare beef

I ordered the pho with rare beef and beef balls. It's my favourite thing to order and the flavour was good. I also ordered the avocado smoothie. My sister ordered the chicken and rice plate which was flavourful as well.

Anh Dao has been hyped up as having the best pho in town, and it certainly lived up to that hype. The broth was incredible, light yet deep with flavor and umami. The beef was also delicious and not too fatty, and the rice noodles were the perfect texture. The pho was so good I didn't even need any of the sauces on the side, and the sprouts added the perfect crunch. I can't wait to come back here!

Extensive menu and cash only (ATM inside). We only had USD cash so I inquired if they accept and they said it's one for one. The exchange rate is $1.00 USD to $1.35 CAD so our $80 bill meant a $27 difference which ended up being a very generous tip. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with egg/spring roll and grilled pork and my dad, uncle, and cousin ordered rice plates. My vermicelli noodles were broken and seemed undercooked and dry that I didn't really enjoy the dish but it was a very generous portion. Being Vietnamese, I've had plenty of vermicelli bowls but this one missed the mark in terms of flavor. The others enjoyed did enjoy their rice dish and said it was the meat was flavorful. It seemed to take awhile for our dishes to come out; probably 20-30 minutes. It was late afternoon and all the tables began to fill up as we headed out. Service was lackluster.

Coming here of course you have to try their speciality. I appreciate the construction they did, now it has air conditioning and the walls have beautiful art painted. This is my second time coming and we got the betel beef wrap leaf. It comes as a big platter with vermicelli, the beef and veggies. Everything was tasty and fresh. You wrap your own fresh rolls. It was delicious and very unique. Not something you can get at other Vietnamese restaurants. A small platter fed two people and we were super full. We also got the fried spring rolls and they were also very tasty and fresh. Will definitely be back!

Papaya Salad

A small place in Chinatown. I'm not a pho person but this place seemed to be popular among pho lovers. Food portion was big - I did not expect my Papaya Salad came with such a huge plate. Price point wise was pretty reasonable for a restaurant in downtown. Food (quality, presentation) - 4/5 Drinks (quality, variety) - NA/5 Ambience (interior, cleanness) - 3/5 Service - 5/5 Value - 5/5

This is honestly a Toronto staple. They have been around since 1983, close to when my parents arrived to Canada from Vietnam. I brought my dad and mom to eat here recently and you know the food is good when your viet parents say it's good. Anh Dao is also very unique in comparison to other viet restaurants. Though they have common dishes like Pho and Bun Bo Hue, they have certain hard to find dishes like Banh Xeo and Bo La Lot. I highly recommend the Bo La Lot special, it comes with so many herbs and vegetables, something that you rarely see these days but is so common in Vietnam. Can't say enough good stuff about this place. I take friends and family here all the time when they come to visit Toronto.

The moment you walk into this busy Viet restaurant is a casual vibe, with a very fragrant smell. An aroma of smoke and fish sauce lets you know that you're in for a real Vietnamese treat. The portions are gigantic and are absolutely delicious. Banh Xeo: The fried crepe was crispy filled with bean sprouts and with chosen protein (shrimp). The shrimp taste carried throughout the pancake and would recommend, one portion may be too much for two people. Ga Nurong Bun: The vermicelli was of the thin rice noodles, fish sauce was flavourful and really elevated the entire dish (as it should). The grilled chicken was tasty and charred nicely, very aromatic, very mmm. Next time I'd try something else, especially the spring roll and grilled pork.

Anh Dao is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in Toronto. It is a family owned and its been around over 30 years. The food at Anh Dao is authentic. Taste like it would in Vietnam specifically Saigon. The papaya salad is fresh and so good. The pho is a bowl of goodness. The vermicelli is so hearty. Bo La lot is one of my favourite viet food to eat and it's rare to find in the city. I knew I had to get it. The service is average. When you go to a Vietnamese restaurant you're not really looking for service but for the food. The vibe is cute. I like the murals painted on the walls. It's very colourful and vibrant.

A bit expensive but very good proportion. Tasty food. But often need to wait a bit for the food after ordering.

The only saving grace from my orders here is the noodles and even then their soup for it is too bland for the noodles.

Pho Ngon Dat Viet - 2nd visit the side veg was not mostly bean sprouts... did they run out?

The store front looks inviting and once inside the thought and details of the interior speaks to their experience in welcoming diners. Beautiful inside with a fresh and clean vibe. I had a fish cake with dill vermicelli soup which was delicious. It came with the usual side of sprouts and greens to use as toppings. My bill was $23 with tip on my card for the soup. Service was quick and efficient with plenty of staff around to help you enjoy the experience. The front patio is really nice! Will be a great spot to eat while people watching at this iconic corner.

Inconsistent at the moment…read more I've been there 2x for the same order #45 tomato, softshellcrab w vermicelli. The soup on my first visit was great, had depth, flavourful! I tried to finish the broth because it was so good. I would have given that first bowl 4 stars! Today was terrible! It just felt like a super water-downed broth that I didn't want to drink. Everything was just boiled and dumped in a water-downed soup base. The least they can do is use broth and dump it in the seafood tomato based soup. This was a 9pm dinner. They had their own family visiting to close up shop at 11. I tried asking them what happened to the broth today but they didn't speak English or just decided not to. It was disappointing for a bowl of $21 + tax noodle that was just pretty bland tonight even though it looked the part.... Sigh 2 stars today but couldn't average it out to 3 because now I remembered the spring rolls from the first visit were soggy Yes they are friendly but don't know if it's a place you should come before 7pm to catch the good broth?

They have 5 types of dry noodles with pork tossed with sauce, which is super hard to find as a dish…read more(even if you look for similar dishes in Singaporean, Malaysian, Thai and Cambodian cuisines). The dry noodle dishes under the green column use egg noodles & those under the brown use rice noodles but the toppings & sauce are the same. The most pricey rice noodles are Japanese but otherwise the difference is width. Got the thin egg noodle version in large. It's recommended to add pickled garlic & red vinegar. The soup was pretty tasty with a natural sweetness, 2 springy half fishballs & a large, very fresh shrimp. The sauce was basically oyster sauce but pickled garlic, red vinegar, hoi sin & chili sauce were available to add complexity. The noodles weren't wet but were not dry either. Large was a very big bowl it came with minced pork, thin sliced pork beansprouts & greens. The pickled garlic was good. Also got a shrimp fritter on the side for $2.50. It was big with one tiny shrimp. The juxtaposition was comical but it was cheap. It was not warm but the fritter was crispy & tasty. Unfortunately the shrimp itself was dry & brittle. Service was good, especially for an Asian place.

How do I keep forgetting this place? They have been around forever, and I mean literally forever…read more Perhaps I overlooked because they don't fall into the usual perception of Viet food, but it's definitely genuinely and authentically, Viet! Right down to the non-white washed clientele. I'd always prefer to dine where the "locals" dine, and being in a multicultural city like Toronto, it's difficult to fine a hidden gem that hasn't been invaded by foreigners (I'm laughing inside because I'm not Viet and am disliking myself for being that invader; however, I can pass for a Viet if I just point to the table I want and the menu item I'd like ). So, please keep this place to yourself as I would hate to line up the next time I come.
