The boutique Angelina on 108 Rue du Bac is a smaller location, helping you avoid the chaos of the long famous hot chocolate lines. A good location to go to if you just want to try the desserts and/or are in a rush. The inside of the store is bright and clean, and the workers are patient and speak English. We got the holiday special Boule Pain D'épices Agrumes (a cake covered in white chocolate, citrus, and vanilla) and the classic tiramisu. Heard this place had the best hot chocolate so we had to check it out. We walked over around 2pm after going to the Louvre. We waited about 30 min to get seated. I loved the interior! Especially all the paintings they had all around the walls. It gave the restaurant a very cute French ambiance. Our server and the manager were great and attentive. We ordered two of the Brunch breakfast meals which included the famous hot choco, fruit juice, croissants, eggs Benedict, chocolate crepe and so much more. To eat we got the famous Croque Madame sandwich which is this unbelievable three layers sandwich with ham and melted cheese with a fried egg on top! The food is good, like any other Angelina's in Paris. However this location, the service was unfriendly. My family and I felt 'neglected' compared to other tables around us. Hard to ignore the fact that we were the only asians in the restaurant at that time. I mean, it doesn't matter how good the food is if you feel ignored by the staff. Right before we left, another family walked in and towards their table, the grandma tripped over something sticking out of the wall on the ground. She had her elbow and arm bleeding from a cut. The staff there tend to her immediately. However I noticed the thing she tripped on is actually kn the ground and goes all around the walls of the restaurant. So this could have happen to anyone. Very dangerous how management or staff did not notice this hazard! Although luckily it didn't happen to my family, it was hard seeing this happened to another elder lady. I didnt think we were able going to dine here. We had some time to spare before going to Louvre. So we decided to walk a few blocks to Angelina. It was a pretty busy place and we were already in line waiting to be seated. My young daughters and I were seated upstairs and it was just lovely. Our waiter ( dont know his name but he is an African male) was very very kind and spoke English to us as soon as we were ready to order. We only ordered 2 cups of the hot chocolate and our meals but he places 3 cups for us to share our 2 order of hot chocolates. I thought that was really sweet and nice...considering the ambiance and type of cafe, it was a very nice service. It literally tastes like melted chocolate bars in a smooth, warm, liquid form served with a dollop of fresh whipped cream on the side. This is indulgence in its purest form. 2. While you are here, get the Mont Blanc, which is the signature pastry with fluffy meringue, whipped cream, and piped chestnut cream vermicelli (yes - in strands!). It's decadent yet light the flavor is sublime. 3. Pistachio macaroon: Light with the perfect texture - I am not a huge macaroon fan but did like this. 4. Porcini mushrooms cream soup: So creamy and decadent! Comes with a perfect soft poached egg and a bread-stick. A great comfort dish. 5. Croissant Angelina: A great croissant breakfast sandwich of a sort with a buttery and flaky croissant, smoked salon, scrambled eggs, and cheese. This is what a breakfast sandwich should be. Chocolat chaud. This became one of my favourite things to order while in Paris. It essentially means a rich hot chocolate, but when you order one of these at Angelina, it is a completely different story. Their chocolat chaud is straight chocolate that you drink through a straw from a takeaway like coffee cup. It is rich, silky and absolutely divine. If you are a chocoholic and are in Paris, order one of these. Or two, because they are that good. So good, that I had another one when we went to Versailles for the day (they have a restaurant and a food cart there). I also ordered a millefeuille. It had nice layers and swirls of creme patisserie on top - perfect! It was equally delicious, but creamy, crunchy and sweet. Probably the best millefeuille I had in Paris! Because it was a Sunday (most of the shops are closed), it was super quiet and we were the only people in the shop, which meant more time to marvel at the amazing pastries and sweets. This place was the must-go due to its reputation for having one of the first Mont Blanc desserts. When we got there, we noticed that the queue to dine-in/enter was practically around the block. Since we made it a point to travel there just for Angelina, we decided to just rough the long line. I have to say that the line actually moved really fast and didn't feel like it was that long of a wait. Staff were very friendly and got to enjoy the interior store prior to being sat. I would have wanted a bigger table along the edge but ended up with a joint table in the middle that was really small for us. I wasn't sure what to expect but decided to take dinner here as well since they had some savory options. I got the summer squash ravioli with parmesan sauce/truffle oil. It was really one of the most delicious things I've eaten in Paris so far. I also got to try the Fish and Chips: not being a fan of fish/seafood I really liked it. The seasoning on the crust is very flavorful and pairs well with the seafood. Fries were shoestring but could have been a bit more crispy. I got to try the epic MontBlanc and different than ones that I have tried before. But had a nice flavor. I would recommend getting tea to drink with it since it is a little sweet. After spending the day at the Louvre we found out there was an Angelina's walking distance from the museum so we decided to check it out. Didn't realize how popular it was and there was quite a bit of a line to get in and seated. It's a very nice place with traditional French decor. For my whole life, I have been in search of a hot chocolat similar to what was in the movie Chocolat", and I think I found it! In the US, most hot chocolate is the fake chocolate syrup or powder based cocoas, but Angelina's uses real pure chocolate!
