A popular bakery in Montmarte so I had to try it. They're known for their escargot looking croissants so I ordered a pistachio chocolate one alongside a pain au chocolat.

First croissant I tried in Paris. It was buttery and flaky. I am sure all the bake goods would be good. Everything looks delicious. It was recommended by our walking tour host.

Le Pain is real! If you know, you know;)

"That Paris exists and anyone could choose to live anywhere else in the world will always be a mystery to me." - Midnight in Paris The PAIN PAIN is real! Pain Pain est une boulangerie & pâtisserie créée par Sébastien Mauvieux, lauréat de la meilleure baguette de Paris! Sur la butte Montmartre à deux pas des Abbesses. *Heart eyes* Oui Oui! I simply love this cute boulangerie in the heart of Montmartre, Paris! Open earlier than most bakery and cafes, it's my go-to spot in the mornings. Incredible freshly baked goods and amazing coffee! On my visits I've had the Chocolate Croissant, Butter Croissant, Caffe Eclairs, Cinnamon Apple Turnover and all popped out of the oven melting in your mouth vibe. I've had the French Expresso and Cappuccino and let me tell you how wonderful it is to be alive! So yum! And so Euros affordable! Pain Pain also has this incredible touch-less paying system: CC tap per normal, but also a machine that will accept your Euros too. Change automatic. Just note that early mornings (7-8am) pastries are somewhat limited to the basics, but still you have a choice. However, the best selection comes out after 8am when all the cute barista French girls work. No offense to Sébastien Mauvieux, who I met one early morning, who is the founder, award winner, and baker extraordinaire! Nicest guy! Just not as cute as all those Parisian girls with high-ponytails lol. In the end, I highly recommend PAIN PAIN in Paris if you want legit Parisian pastries with the locals! I still will visit my other favorite Charlotte if in Madeleine, but just can't beat the overall top quality, legitimate friendliness, affordability, and Le mmm pain...

Our hotel provided free breakfast, but I wanted to go to a local bakery instead. I'm so happy I did. Stopping at this bakery was perhaps one of the most memorable moments I had in Paris, because it was simply fantastic. The pastries and their taste left a mind on my mark. I bought the Roule Pistache Chocolat - you'll taste bits and pieces of chocolate supplemented with a soft and subtle pistachio taste, all on insanely soft and buttery dough. The croissant? Equally amazing. I'm coming back HERE

a takeout bakery with an assortment of sweet and savory pastries. we got a slice of quiche and asked them to warm it up, which was nice since cold quiche is never great. // goat cheese and spinach quiche slice (4.44 euros) // we picked this quiche because it looked the most firm, but the inside was still a bit soggy. it also essentially only has spinach and goat cheese, so we felt like it lacked in other flavors like herbs or spices. but, it was mainly the inside texture and firmness that was a bit off to me.

If Instagram had a bakery, Pain Pain would be it. First off, the bakery is gorgeous. Very eye catching, Secondly, they have so many flavors of eclairs! I definitely had a hard time picking and I wish I could have come here more. I appreciated the variety of baked goods. Paris brest especially! Croissants, baguette, pasties, desserts, sandwiches, etc. They have it all here. I tried various things over the course of a few days and everything was really good. The eclairs especially. I will definitely be back and would recommend you try this place if you're in Montmartre.

    More yummy pastries

I risked almost getting stranded here to get breakfast pastries from this place. I was visiting Paris with a tour group, and on the morning we were going to leave France, I decided to make a trek across the city in order grab some chocolate croissants from here. I did this with only a budget of 15 mins gap between the time I would return to the bus location and the time the bus would leave. Luckily, there were no train delays and I didn't get lost making my way through the alleyways of Paris. The risk of getting stranded was worth it as I was able to eat the best pastries I've ever had in my life here. My travel mates were also happy once I made it back to the meeting location (because they were really stressed that I decided to try and grab these pastries before leaving). I dream of these pastries every now and then haha! If you're ever in Paris, I highly recommend you make a trip to Pain Pain. It'll haunt your dreams (in a good way) for the rest of your life.

The fresh baked smell when you walk past this place is enough to draw you over to see what's inside. It was budy however everyone behind the counter was friendly and fast and got us on our way quickly. Everything from tartes to the breads and even baguettes filled with meat and cheese that are ready for you to take, there's such a good amount of fresh baked pastries and delights that you won't leave empty handed. The place is a bit snug inside (as is most places) but take it to go and enjoy while strolling through Montmartre.

Hands down the best croissants I have ever had.... Heading back for more as we speak. I was also shocked to see the price was so cheap! Soooooooo delicious! ‍ the almond croissant specifically was to die for

Large pastry shop with a multitude of selections, you will have a very difficult time deciding what to get! But don't worry, whatever you choose will be fresh and absolutely satisfying. If you are not lucky enough to grab one of the limited tables, you may have to take it to go. The smell from the street of croissant baking in the morning will be the end of you.

The coffee eclair- the perfect coffee flavor.

In a charming location in Montemarte. The line was long but definitely worth the wait. There was no place to sit which left the perfect opportunity to sit and enjoy the pastries in a park nearby. The pastries were the best I've had in Paris. My favorite was the coffee eclair which was light and creamy. The Pain au Chocolat was the perfect just have balance of flaky and buttery. The Saint Honoreé was another favorite with vanilla bean cream with cream puffs that melt in your mouth, a very refreshing desert. I would love to come back and try more!

Holy smokes this place is good! It definitely should be on list of top croissant places in Paris. I really like the atmosphere here - on a cute cobblestone street, blue store front and glass windows. Immediately you smell the incredible aroma of freshly baked goods - they have breads, croissants, desserts and some lunch takeaway items (pizza, quiches etc). There's a small seating area but it's probably busy (it was when I went). Lots of locals come here to grab a quick bite. I decided on a Zephyr and croissant. Zephyr is a cake bake with raspberry coulis and vanilla cream on top - so incredibly amazing! This croissant was one of the best I've had in Paris - flaky and buttery - so delicious!! This place is definitely off the beaten path but I would recommend you stop by for croissants at least when in Montmartre or visiting Sacre Coeur. You won't regret it! Service is also friendly and attentive.

    Bacon, chorizo or olive rolls!

SO. FREAKING. CUTE. I wandered in here one morning after walking down from the Sacré-Cœur. PLACE WAS BUSY!!! There was a nice line of local Parisians in the shop, so I naturally had to sit down for some coffee & pastries. The food is AWESOME. I had a quiche and also a chorizo baguette, both were really tasty and not greasy. The storefront is massive compared to other bakeries, and its got a nice little seating area. The layout is nicely divided with a checkout counter on one end with a very modern POS system, where you insert bills like a vending machine! The other end has the nice seating area, and in between you have a counter for quiches, and also a counter for other pastries.

Thank you so much for the wonderful treats. I will savor them for three days. I asked in French if the ladies spoke English and they were kind enough to oblige. Literally everything I tried was amazing and I tried quite a few things. And it's not just the vacation bias, since I did try other bakeries in the neighborhood that were very mediocre. Mille Feuille: Loved how the dry flaky layers contrasted the creamy layers. Éclairs au Chocolat: My French is weak so I thought I was getting vanilla cream filled, so the chocolate ganache was surprising. But a pleasant surprise as it was super rich, playing nicely against the choux shell. Canelés: Perfectly crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It tasted like there was some hint of alcohol flavoring inside, but I couldn't place it. Bonne Maman Poire Chocolat: Loved the soft pears against the brownie-like surrounding tart. Tartelette Framboise: Basically an excuse to get a ton of cream, which happens rest on a buttery shell and be covered in fresh raspberries. Cheese Cake: Nothing like New York cheesecake. It has the consistency of no-bake, but wasn't, since it tasted baked. So airy and light and delicious. Delise de Iles: One of the prettiest desserts with so many pretty colorful layers, including fluffy meringue on top. I especially liked how the fruit paste layer contrasted the creamy layer. Cherry Frangipane: A little dry on its own, but pairs well with coffee. The fragrant cooked cherries are the highlight. Pineapple Tartlet: Forget the French name, but it was a rather dry grainy tart (almost muffin-like) with candied pineapple on top. Another one that goes well with coffee. Cavette(?): Not sure if I got the spelling right, but this was basically like rectangular-shaped croissant dough with cream and chocolate in between. AMAZING! Perhaps my favorite breakfast treat. Croissant au Beurre: Simple, yet so amazing. Better than anything I've had in stateside. Baguette aux Lardons: How can you make a baguette better? Add crispy thick bacon bits and cheese! Sandwich Jambon et Fromage: My favorite of the simple baguette sandwiches I tried. A classic ham & cheese that the French somehow make amazing. Sandwich Brie Beurre: Very rich since you have creamy brie and butter! Sandwich Saucisson Cornichons: Each ingredient individually was fine, but I wasn't digging the combination. I should have probably stuck with having some sort of cheese. Baguette Traditional: Super crunchy and crispy outside, with a soft and airy center. Baguette Classique: Reminded me of a hoagie roll, but way fancier. All the good parts of baguette, but a slightly softer shell that manages to crunch a tad but it gets chewy.

Le Grenier a Pain's pain au chocolat was much larger and heartier than others I've tried yet retained its buttery-flakiness without feeling too heavy. I really enjoyed the pillowy texture of the pain au chocolat, which included a generous amount of chocolate folded inside. Paired with a cafe au lait, I was in heaven. The bakery is small yet inviting, and there was no seating indoors or outdoors. While I was hoping to enjoy my pastry on-the-go, it started pouring outside, so I was forced to huddle underneath the awning while I consumed my pain au chocolat. While I'd definitley come back for another pain au chocolat, I would also want to sample their savory pastries on my next visit.
