Wow wow - they make excellent pastries / baguette / coffee. Good boulangeries in Paris taste different :) They are very busy on the weekend with people constantly going in and out. We ordered a bunch of stuffs to try including baguette, plie de chocolat, pistachio chocolat pain russe, eclair chocolat and a panini. All are delightful. Chocolat eclair has both chocolate cream and pastry cream it was epic... Our latte/americano were delicious. Their baguette wins a competition in 2012 and was very yummy too. Sorry, I just don't get the rave reviews. I came here because of said reviews and was terribly disappointed with my pain au chocolate. It was very salty and greasy, and just kind of smushed. I thought perhaps I was unlucky, or just being too judgmental? There always seems to be a line, so could I have been wrong? Well a couple of days later, I stopped by again. The answer is no. I had the same impression: Terribly salty and greasy with poor texture. Apparently people have forgotten or perhaps never knew what a good croissant should be like in taste and texture. My experience goes back to the late 60's, and I will never forget . It is still available in Paris! but unfortunately it is not offered by La Petite Marquise. (However, I found "it" at a bakery not far away. That's where I'll take my business for the balance of my one month stay). read more

The pasteries are so beautiful with so much vibrant colors. Not only did the pastries look aesthetically pleasing but also tasted good too! The pastries look like art , there's no other way to describe it. So this is truly what a macaroon is supposed to taste like, oh my! It literally melts in your mouth ! If you like pistachios, I highly recommend pistachios flavored pastries . It didn't sound pleasant to me at first but, I recommend it! (Pistachios flavored croissant , pistachio macaroon , etc ) I have to say that Paris has one of the best seafoods I have ever tasted . It is so fresh. I got a breakfast baguette with salmon (think of a lox bagel but on a baguette ) and the salmon tasted so good . A spacious boulangerie that has indoor seating! We walked into this boulangerie for a light breakfast and I was pretty happy with everything that we got! The service was good and there is ample seating in the back if you want to enjoy your pastries or coffee there. The croissants here were great. We are American and used Yelp to find a good boulangerie. We entered and I ordered by pointing and using my admittedly terrible French. The cashier had no problem understanding me and ringing me up. The woman who gathered the items did something with the bag that was unclear to me, the cashier said something to her in French, she told him no and insisted she was right (conversation was in French but this was clear to me). We took our small bag and sat at the counter by the window and our almond croissant and pain au chocolat were SMOOSHED. They looked like a brick had been dropped on them. Worst experience I've ever had in Paris and confirms all the horror stories Americans hear. Many other Parisians were nice to us but this woman was mean. read more

Came here after seeing that they were english-speaker friendly! As expected, they are a bit less patient when there is a rush.. but that is true anywhere you'd go even here in the US. They were helpful in translating items and telling us the ingredients which was helpful especially since my mom is vegetarian. They had a great variety of your standard lunch/snack fare that was reasonably surprised and also more decadent desserts with a more decadent price tag. I really loved their cheese and smoked tomato focaccia type bread. Excellent French bakery at Place Victor Hugo. We were staying at the Renaissance Hotel Le Parc Trocadero down the street, and we ended up eating breakfast here 3 days in a row. The staff here can mostly speak English, so that was helpful for us. Although all of their baked goods were delicious, their beignets were the highlight. Freshly made donut balls with apple, strawberry, raspberry, or chocolate stuffings... soooooo good. Their coffee were pretty good too. Love this boulangerie!! Variety of sandwiches, pastries, baguettes and drinks. It's relatively close to the Arc de Triomphe and Place du Trocadéro, which are just a short walk away. We ordered a quiche Lorraine (ask to heat it up!), a fresh baguette, several croissants (croissant buerre, croissant des amandes), brioche au sucre, brioche suisse aux pépites de chocolate and trosades! Everything was warm and fresh, a great delight on a cloudy morning. I chose to stay near Victor Hugo because this area is pretty central and well connected. I spent a month here, and I literally ate croissants and pastries every day. Every morning, I stopped by this bakery to get a croissant. So fresh, so buttery, so flaky! Honestly, the best croissant. sometimes the line was out the door. My mouth is literally salivating thinking about that fresh croissant. I would also grab a baguette from here, get some cheese, jam, and wine from franprix that's literally next to it...and go with my friends to sit by the Seine river in the evening. If you are in the area, definitely grab a croissant (plain or chocolate), you won't be disappointed. The pastries are also soooo soooo delish!!!! read more

This boulangerie was recommended to us by our hotel, I have been to Paris so many times and have tried a lot of different boulangeries and I can for sure say this one is my #1 favorite now. It's pretty spacious and they have lots of selections, from flakey croissants to fresh pastries, sandwiches, light breakfast, savory quiches, tarts, baguette, large and small cakes, chocolates... and literally everything they have is so mouthwatering, I tried lots of different things and can't even tell you which one beat the other. Their sandwiches are to die for... Indoor seating, but limited and it can get busy sometimes. oh the places you'll go in paris but nothing will compare to the fresh, olive-y wonder that is La Petite Marquise. We stayed nearby and walked to this little bakery every morning (sometimes twice a day). The bread is OUT OF THIS WORLD. My sister is gluten-free but the bread here did not cause her any issues. The nut breads and the charcoals were some of our favorites, although nothing compares to the olive bread. WOW. Just wow. I think it's the most delicious bread I've ever had. Please do yourself a favor and get this (it's kind of in a pretzel shape). I enjoyed my olive-feta bread twist in the mornings, which were only 1.50euros. I had the salmon one once too but the olive-feta combo is the true true winner. I would highly recommend. One is filling enough! The pastries are also incredible. The jello-like texture with the fruity fresh taste was so divine! The macaroons were also all super fresh and soft and I'd definitely recommend the pistachio flavor! The coffee to me was very eh but they also have complimentary lemon water which is a win! And very nice after all the yummy bread. read more

This place is the bomb for a quick pastry and coffee! It took a little time for me to understand that a French "breakfast" is a croissant and coffee. Once I did, I started looking for great pastry shops to join the French in "their" typical breakfast and found La Petite marquise. LOCATION: The pastry shop is located in a busy city circle with lots of action and a beautiful fountain in the center. It was a blast just sitting at the bar looking out the window people watching. Lot's going on here. This is obviously a local favorite as there were lines out the door for the daily baguettes. SERVICE: While they seemed genuinely helpful (but crazy busy), nobody speaks English so don't expect to be catered to in English. However, this really isn't a problem as if your eyes work and you can point in you're in great shape! QUICHE: Ham and Onion (Rating 4) I tried every quiche they have and the ham and onion quiche is by the far the best. The others were pretty good but none over a rating of 3. ALMOND PASTRY: (Rating 5) I'm not sure what this was called, but they understand almond and it's the pastry that all the locals are buying so it's not hard to figure out. We're staying at an AirBnB nearby and were interested in trying real French baguettes. We saw people walking around the plaza after work hours carrying these golden brown baguettes of perfection so we made a bee line straight to the patisserie, waited in line, and I appreciated the fact that although they didn't speak much English, they helped us with no problem. I spoke my basic French and I feel they appreciated the effort. We ordered: 2 baguettes 2 croissants 3 beignets 1 large Vanilla macaron Everything we tried was fantastic. We did like the Parisians and walked around eating our warm baguette. It was heavenly. I'm not one to eat bread by itself, but I could eat fresh baguettes like this all day. There's a $10 minimum if you're using debit/credit. The cashier was very nice when explaining to us and recommended the macaron to make up for the difference. We stopped by this bakery on the way to the airport. We noticed that there was a pretty long line, which indicated to us that this is where something delicious might be. We were a smidge rushed to make our decision, but we went with a croissant and chocolate croissant. Both were deliciously buttery and flaky. Best pastry shop in Paris! Yes the best! Everything was sooo good here! Croissants, eclairs (they have a coffee eclair get that one!) tarts, macaroons, baguettes for a buck?!? Yes I know thats pretty standard in Paris but still it's awesome! Came here as I was walking around the area when we were on vacation and noticed everyone was walking away with anywhere from 1-5 loaves a baguette and just chomping away at it! So I had to find this bakery which turned into this amazing place! Walked in and there is a line forming and lots of locals standing there so I knew I was in for a treat! The ladies there helped out even though my french was terrible but we figured it out and holy moly was it an amazing experience! My wife doesn't even like pastries loved this place, we easily came here 4-5 times for snacks and breakfast! They make sandwiches for lunch that I saw people take them for work too! They do fresh squeezed OJ for you if you are there for breakfast! Everything here is delicious and very reasonable pricing wise.
