Espresso after eating our quiche
Kelley F.

I absolutely adore this little boulangerie. Despite the space being tiny and often crowded, the staff are amazing at keeping things flowing. There is one woman in particular who is so friendly and warm, and is willing to speak French with me so I love her. :-) They have an amazing selection of delicious quiches, croissants, sandwiches, and other prepared foods, in addition to baguettes and other bakery items. Their espresso is perfectly fabulous as well. Try the mini quiche Provencal, and the chicken bacon onion sandwich on a poppyseed baguette. The food is delicious and the vibes are fantastique.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.

The attention to detail at Four Seasons, any Four Seasons, is always out of this world and George V is definitely in my top 3 and I've been to many! Fresh Mandarin Juice - Our waitress was raving about it so we couldn't pass up and wow. It was possibly the freshest and most delicious juice I've ever had. I was expecting a bit of tartness but it was absolutely delicious and sweet! We had to ask her if it was sweetened in any way and she said "No, it's freshly squeezed!." We were hooked. 5/5. French Toast (or toast?! Haha!) - Was divine! *said in Cam's voice*. Was lightly caramelized which gave it a nice crunch yet still moist. 5/5. Scrambled Eggs - I know they're just scrambled eggs but again with FS's magic touches it was amazing. I'm the type of person who likes to put ketchup on their eggs but you definitely didn't need anything at all on this. It was so deliciously creamy. Quite creamy that even my psoriasis flared up but it was definitely worth it. 5/5. Blue Lobster Omelette - My friend's been raving about this for ever and I've been dreaming of it since. If you've ever seen A Hundred Foot Journey, that scene with the chef trying to make the best omelette will likely bring you back to that scene. Definitely Michelin rating worthy. It was about the size of a burrito with a very generous amount of lobster and eggs perfectly cooked. It was so simple looking yet it was rich with flavour. This omelette alone made this breakfast the best one of our Euro trip, possibly even my life. Not easy on the wallet but worth every Euro. If you're curious, this is about $100 CAD. Call me crazy but I'd pay for it again. 5/5.

This is the lobby of The Hotel Plaza Athenee hotel. Great for people watching and fine delicacies ... now Just a mess. A 50 Euro Croque Plaza sandwich . Sounds pricey? It is! But it's also been the best sandwich in Paris for over 20 years. A truffled cheese and chicken sandwich now laid waste. I've had it many times. Maybe 50 or more times. Did Chef Imbert "reimagine" it? Are they going for a rustic disheveled monstrosity? My twin lovelies had the lobster club and loved it. My soulmate "The Chosen One" dined on a local Reblochon cheese plate. Wonderful. French cheese is ALWAYS a gift and not pasteurized and ruined like our government (in America) demands by law. My fellow Americans - you have not had cheese until you've had it in France. Anyway, after a mind-boggling and rude wait of 95 minutes (95 minutes!!!) we left. I had no lunch. Just a gift of time theft. The hostess apologized on the way out adding ,"I don't know what's going on in the kitchen today. It's just awful." I concur.

The chocolate was very good, and the desserts not bad (I believe one can get better ones for this prices); but they were aesthetically beautiful and very good tasting, anyways. When I payed and went to the lobby, I realized that my umbrella had been stolen. My Alexander McQueen umbrella. I informed the receptionist and she called the "attached director". She couldn't give me a solution, and she gave me the hotel's typical umbrella. She took note of my mail because she assured me that she was going to watch the recordings of the cameras. That was about four days ago and I still have no news about her. That is just unacceptable for a five stars "grand luxe" hotel. Five guys on the door than can't take care of your umbrella, and no one offers you to put your thing in the wardrobe. Unbelievable. Very disappointed and sad...

This restaurant is elegantly decorated, having plenty of seating, and a piano where performers come to play in the evening time. My girlfriend and I came here several times during our stay the Peninsula. Our first meal here was the croque monseur. It had the expected ingredients: ham, gruyere, bechamel, and a bit of butter. It also had some truffles, which gave it a very distinct taste. While truffles are not my cup of tea, the chef here somehow did make it my cup of tea when he included truffles in my croque. We also came here for dinner, in which I ordered grilled salmon while she ordered steak. The portions were smaller than expected, but the food was prepped decently. The side of potatoes and veggies, along with dinner bread, was decent for a late-night meal. The breakfast service was great. I ordered a salmon and cheese omelette, with a side of avocado, a cappuccino, and a glass of water. Again, the portions were smaller than expected, but the meal was prepped well. The staff here is amazing. I was initially worried that my high-school French was not going to allow me to get by. But the workers here speak English and Spanish as well, so we were good as far as communication. Overall, we were impressed by this restaurant. They took care of us very well, much how the staff in the rest of the hotel did. If you're staying at the Peninsula in Paris, this restaurant is a great place to dine.

Le Joy is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, a cocktail, or a light meal away from the hustle…read moreand bustle of Champs-Élysées, understated yet undeniably sophisticated, reminiscent of a reading room at bibliothèque de la Sorbonne. It is not the most extensive menu but every item is delicious, made fresh with the finest ingredients, and cooked to perfection, by far one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Fresh seasonal fruits are picked and sliced at the peak of ripeness, their croissants, breads, and viennoiserie are as good as the best Parisienne boulangeries, even the butter comes from La Maison du Beurre Bordeir, one of the finest creameries in France. There are 3 breakfast options, Continental €39, Bien Être (well-being) €60, and Américain (American) €50 pp. I selected the American breakfast as it was a better fit, and had a wider variety of choices, Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon or ham, French Toast, Pancakes, or Crêpe, Eggs any style fried, pouched, scrambled, or as an omelette, with two sides choices, smoked brisket, veal sausage, cooked or raw ham, mushrooms, cheese, herbs, tomatoes, potatoes, and baked beans. I tried every item on the menu and was extremely pleased, though if I had to pick a favorite it would be the Eggs Benedict with Hollandaise sauce and black truffles. There is also a dim sum menu which was good, but not exceptional, reminded me of Hakkasan, it even comes with training chopsticks. We are not talking about Triple Michelin stared restaurant, but the service is graceful and efficient, you'll immediately be impressed by the staff, their attention to detail, gracious and perfectly choreographed service, unlike some top rated restaurants were their service is as charming as a theoretical physicist. They remembered my likes and dislikes, days, even months later, not just the food but my favorite table was reserved every morning. There are several excellent options in Paris's 8th arrondissement, also known as Triangle D'or, Le Cinq @ George V comes to mind, opulent, elaborate menus, sure to please, however it can't match Le Joy with its more intimate surroundings, outstanding food, and warm service.
