The Parisians are just as crazy about their social media....especially restaurants and bakeries On the way to Giverny one of my family members demanded that we stop and try the French Bastards (funny. I thought it said the French Batards). Of course she had seen it on social media and the pictures look stunning. Oh yes, their bakes are quite good. Are they better than most? I'd say they're very good but not stunning. If you're close by try them out.

Welp, catchy name - small shop, and we wanted croissants on our last day in Paris at a local bakery. Our hotel breakfast offers delicious croissants and other pastries, really good ones! So we didn't feel the need to find a boulangerie however it's my sister's 1st time (my 4th) in Paris... say less. She needs a comparison. Quick walk, landed us here at The French Bastards. There are 2 small tables out front but they were taken. We grabbed 2 croissants, and a matcha cookie to go. Line moved fast. Say "Bonjour" and asked for your goods. Paid in cash - bc, card will have 4% added. Croissants were good - flakey, crispy outside and soft inside, shiny with buttery goodness. The matcha cookie was a "blah"... couldn't taste the matcha but tasted too greasy or too much baking powder... bc my stomach felt queasy after 2 bites. Went to trash. Pro Tip: cash goes into the slots of the machine, it will spit out the change. Be sure to collect.

More of an American-style bakery, the French Bastards serve creative and novel pastries. We tried their Cream Donut and Cookie Pastry. The Cream Donut was fluffy and covered with crispy sugar. The pistachio cream filling inside was a bit too rich for me. The Cookie Pastry was rich. Unqiuely topped with a gooey chocolate chip cookie but that made the pastry a bit soggy.

This bakery is incredible. Whether you're getting a traditional French pain suisse or looking to try one of their more creative desserts like the double chocolate eclair, you can't go wrong here.

I visited this bakery because a friend highly recommended it, and I was not disappointed. The place isn't very big, with just a few tables inside, but it's nicely designed in a modern style and was perfectly clean when I visited. The girls working there were friendly, and one of them spoke good English. The selection of fresh bread, baguettes, croissants, and other baked goods and desserts is large. Everything looked very nice and smelled fresh and rich. I decided to try a ham and cheese roll along with a pistachio eclair - both were delicious! The ham and cheese roll was soft; the cheese they used was very flavorful. The pistachio eclair had a rich, smooth, and super flavorful pistachio cream inside, and I absolutely loved it. For drinks, unfortunately, the choice is limited, so I went with bottled orange juice, and the brand they sell was very good. Price-wise, the bakery is quite reasonable. They also accept all major credit cards and Apple Pay, which is a plus. As far as I know, this bakery has multiple locations around Paris, making it easier to visit. I can absolutely recommend visiting this bakery chain if you're looking to grab some light traditional French baked goods or just a sweet treat.

Cookie roll is a cookie top on a cruffin filled with ganache. Decadent treat that can be split by 3.

Amazing pastries not too far from le meridien etoile and the Hyatt regency near palais du congress. The original croissant, pain Au chocolates and the babka pistache were all incredible. We visited this pastry shop twice since it was so good on this trip.

Everything was fresh. Lovedddd the croissants here. Quiche was just ok, would probably skip next time. Loved the burrata sandwich and coffees too.

This is a review for the location in Marias (5 Rue du Temple) near Hotel de Ville. We came here twice a day for four days while staying in Paris to the point we knew all the staff and tried almost every pastry. We absolutely LOVED this place. Service is great, rarely a line but even so it goes fast. FYI: the inside is small so everything is to-go. Every morning we grabbed morning pastries. We particularly loved the croissants, Kouign-amann, rose brioche, sucre cruffin, and pistachio babka. The flan, lemon meringue, chocolate pear tart were also very good. Then we came back late morning/afternoon and they bring out more savory stuff like sandwiches. The burrata sun-dried tomato pesto sandwich IS SO GOOD. I also tried the chicken salad bagel sandwich and that hit the spot. The bagel is not dense like American bagels, it is perfect, not soggy, and the lettuce was fresh. The savory bread rolls are fine, but I preferred the sandwiches over those. Then in the late afternoon/early evening we would often pick up a baguette and then stop by a nearby market for some cheese and wine. If you stop by too late the baguettes get a little stale (understandable because they don't keep baking them late into the evening!) but it was still more than adequate for our purposes. Coffee here is average, convenient to have in the mornings. The star of the show here is definitely the pastries and sandwiches.

Fantastic dessert spot and friendly owner. We tried the lemon meringue , chocolate eclair and vanilla tart with a couple cups of coffee. Everything was amazing , the chocolate eclair was so flavorful and had fantastic creamy chocolate filling inside. The lemon meringue was so creamy and perfectly crusty on the outside , I will definitely come back soon. The ambiance is great , it's a small spot but lines form quickly. Highly recommend this spot

My first croissant in Paris and it did NOT disappoint!!! Let me rave about this croissant. Soo many options to choose from but I got a plain one for under €2. I swear life got a little brighter after I tried it. The croissant was buttery, flaky, chewy, and soul filling. And like a local, I had to dip it into my cappuccino. If I lived here, I would probably be a regular. A tragedy that I was not able to try the other pastries. Forever a dream in my head.

There's hype for this place and it's well deserved. I came at 6pm and there was no line and a lot of stock left. Loves: + The chocolate cruffin (3.90e) is so worth the hype. The chocolate ganache is an amazing touch and adds sweetness to the more muted cruffin. There is a plain sugar one too but if it's your first time, get the chocolate. + Beyond the popular cruffins there are so many other pastries to choose from! + Cute shop but it's really for going in and out. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another cruffin. Hell yeah.

All of the pastries I had from here were super delicious and creative. The cookie roll croissant definitely fills you up, but in a good way. It was just perfectly chocolatey and the combination of textures was chefs kiss. The chocolate babka was also super good and flavorful. I'm really happy that I visited this bakery on my trip to Paris and I encourage others to do so as well.

Wasn't in here long enough to truly get a good look at all the yum. I honestly don't even remember what my pastry was called but it gave off cronut vibes and boy was it good. Cinnamon and sugar and flaky... I grabbed it on the go because we were catching a bus, but I would've loved to have more time. They were quick here because they had no wait. It was hot, though... so not like you want to stand around in there anyway.

Pastries were decent but I have had much better in Paris. It's bit of an instagram hype type of vibe.

Another great boulangerie. This place is slightly larger than the one down the street with a…read moreslightly wider selection. It gets a cheaper rating but I thought the prices were very comparable to the other boulangeries in the neighborhood.Again they had great croissants (I tried them at every boulangerie we visited) and their large macaron "sandwiches" were also delicious (although not my MOST favorite of the ones we tried in Paris). This place was also just a few steps from our apartment so we visited it a lot as well. None of the women that served us during the week spoke English but again, you don't need much in a boulangerie. The service was always friendly and efficient. Often this place was busy but service was quick. No outdoor seating, and they were open until 8pm which was awesome. Later in the day you'll find that pastries and bread are not as fresh but even though we got macaron "sandwiches" at 7pm and they seemed a little damp from the fresh fruit in them, the taste was delicious. The outer shells of the macarons were slightly tough but the overall texture wasn't bad. the berries (we tried frambriose and fraise, or raspberry and strawberry) were incredibly fresh and tasty. I'm sure if we had purchased them earlier in the day they would have been even better. We also had the coffee eclairs and they were amazing!!! I don't care that much for eclairs as I do no like the type of bread used for them, but these were good enough that I'd get them again. The filling was rich and the coffee taste was outstanding.
