A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!
So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.
Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.
I was in LOVE with their hot chocolate here. They give you a giant mound of whipped cream for you to use with your hot chocolate. Apparently, the thing to do here is also to dip croissants in to the chocolate. I thought it may be a little weird but I was pleasantly surprised how well they paired. Anyways, this location was pretty big and they were pretty crowded by the time we left. We came at just the right time before there was a line forming outside . They also have a nice selection of cute pastries so if you have the time and are in the mood for sweets this is a nice spot to hit.
My daughter very much wanted to eat at Carette during our Paris trip and we managed to squeeze it in on our last day! The first time we tried to go, the line was around the block. This was late afternoon. We decided to try to come first thing in the morning to beat the crowds! It paid off! We got there around 9am and while the line was growing, it was much shorter. Here's a helpful tip.... Decide whether you want to eat outside or inside and stick to your decision when the host comes asking in the line. A group ahead of us kept changing their answer based on when they saw people leaving from either area, and you could tell the host was getting annoyed. Our group of 4 wanted to be outside, no question, and he ended up taking us first rather than the group ahead! We got a super cute outdoor table. Be aware, seating areas are small, typical of Paris. Our server was very nice and patient with our terrible French while we ordered! The hot chocolate was literally the best! It comes in a pot, and they give you so much! We all had two cups each, and still could not finish! And the whip cream just puts it over the top! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've had. The croissants were good too, a nice compliment to the hot chocolate. They have a very extensive menu, I would love to go back and try more if I'm in Paris again.
Waited in line for about 15 mins and got seated as they cleaned and cleared the outside seating. Ordered the hot chocolate with strawberries, cream ( cookie that comes with the order), citron tarte and a pistachio tarte. Loved the bites and they definitely refueled us up for the rest of our day walking around town. Price for strawberries at 19Euros is a ripoff!!! Worth an experience. Do stop by!!

Well, crepes taste almost the same everywhere. LOL. Nice little spot that's a walking distance from Trocadero and a train station. Line was long at 10:30am even on a rainy day, so be prepared. Some locals would push you off the lane. Neighboring patisseries or cafes won't let you sit nor stand within "their area", weather doesn't matter. Of all food places we've tried, they're the only ones who asked for a tip. I'd say a little expensive and maybe over-rated but a good one-try for tourists, that said, I may or may not come back depending on who I'll be with next time.
Everyone has seen the viral videos of where to go in Paris, and Carette is definitely one of those hot spots to try. My friends and I stopped by on Wednesday morning around 11 and as we walked up from the metro station, the line was wrapped around the street. Thankfully it was only a 20 minute wait as some guest wanted to sit outside. We were sat near the bakery area and it's like a packed mad house in there. We immediately ordered the hot chocolate which comes with a huge portion of whipped cream. I also ordered a quiche with goat cheese and tomatoes which comes with a side salad. For starters, the hot chocolate is a whole presentation. It is not only a pretty rich chocolate color, it's also delicious but very rich. The huge whipped cream dollop for the table was so pretty, of course we had to snap away pictures for our social media before we took our first sips. The hot chocolate was perfect for the cold rainy weather, but very decadent. Make sure you ask for a glass of tap water to wash down the richness. It will cost you about 12.5 euros but it will give you 3 or 4 cups per hot chocolate, which is more than enough. The quiche was really good as well. Very moist and flavorful. It was light enough for a brunch but also a great balance to the rich hot chocolate. The only thing I wished for was that the bottom crust would've been more cooked instead of it being soggy. We had a great visit here and a must try whenever you're in Paris, especially in the colder seasons.
TLDR; Cute vibe just a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Great drinks and good food, slightly higher priced than what you may expect but worth it. This cafe offers the famous hot chocolate which is a must, not too rich but perfectly dense for a delicious cup. You can sweeten it up and provide a less dense texture with the whip that comes paired with it. The fruit is delicious but over priced in my opinion. The crepe was good and what you'd expect. Can't go wrong with the lemon tart or butter croissant as well. The service was straight forward but a touch slow, that seems to be the vibe throughout Paris.
Service was great, and fast! Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves very quickly. Must try the hot chocolate. It's very thick and rich. the whipped cream on the side was the perfect match. I was most excited for this crepe!!! Delicious! I got the Nutella crepe with strawberries. Highly recommend! And a must stop if you're in Paris!

Even though the line was long, it moved quickly and the staff kept everything organized. They were able to accommodate all 5 of us -- 4 adults and a 4-year-old -- with no problem. The portion sizes were excellent for the price. I was expecting smaller portions, so I was pleasantly surprised when my plate came out packed with food and definitely worth the value. I would definitely recommend checking this place out, especially the location near the Eiffel Tower. Great food, generous portions, and an overall good experience! read more
While I was visiting the Eiffel Tower, I had a craving for some hot chocolate and, luckily, Carette was right around the corner. I arrived around 11 a.m. on a Monday and there was already a short line of about 10 people waiting on the sidewalk. The line grew quickly as the 30-degree weather had everyone looking for warmth and a hot drink. I only ended up waiting about 10 minutes before being seated, which wasn't bad at all. I ordered the specialty hot chocolate, which came with a huge portion of whipped cream on the side. It was a bit pricey at €13.50, but you do get multiple servings of hot chocolate in your own personal carafe. Overall, the hot chocolate itself was very good and definitely hit the spot on a cold day! read more

The service was really disappointing. The waitress rolled her eyes and slammed the menus on the table, and so we felt really unwelcomed. That said, I wouldn't call this place a total tourist trap, but it's definitely very touristy. The hot chocolate is rich and thick, and the cream is delicious, especially when you dip a croissant into it. It's located near the Eiffel Tower, and there was no wait at 8 AM. read more

I really loved this place. They have many options, the space and service is great but it's pricey and a fast pace restaurant. I never felt rushed but they try to seat as quick as possible because there is often a long line. The hot chocolate is great but I would suggest sharing between 2-3 people because it's thick and sweet. I had their Scrambled Eggs with ham and cheese, then I added chives. It was so good, I would order it again. I also had the pastry called, Mille-feuille. It was sooo good, the sweetness was light with a good crunchy texture. read more

I found this place on Instagram and immediately added it to my must try list for Paris. I am so glad I did because I would HIGHLY recommend visiting Carette for hot chocolate. I specifically recommend visiting them in the late evening as a sweet treat after dinner especially since there is hardly any line then. It is very expensive with each serving being around $14 but you get a couple cups out of it. The ambiance and vibes of this place are just wonderful and I know I'll be back! read more
Carette will always be iconic. I went around 9am on a weekday. There was a line of course but it went very quickly. The staff is exceptionally fast and efficient. You could be in and out of the place in 25 minutes. You have to order the hot cocoa. The whip cream is soooo good and the chocolate so rich and decadent. The rest of the menu is a bit expensive but I didn't find the chocolate crepes too bad. They were around 9 euro and SO GOOD. I do wish there were more savory options. The cafe next door has a lot more to choose from and they're great too. There are many seats at Carette. There is very little walking room inbetween tables so beware! read more

The following is a long story and you can skip it by jumping to the stars *** I was jetlagged, my first morning in Paris (technically, Boulogne), and up from 3:30 AM I assumed I'd just kill time in my neighborhood until my train to the South. But then randomly I saw the reviews for this place. I liked the sound of "Trocadéro" in a French accent in my head, so I decided it was worth getting outside early to be one of the first customers. I've proven incapable of navigating the metro and have managed to get lost countless times since landing less than a day ago, but I was caught by surprise by the view of the Eiffel Tower from this roundabout where the cafe sits! Also; so many people dressed in berets getting professional photography at this place, I felt a little silly. But then you see that then place was founded in 1927. It's an institution. Their prices for the cakes are still market rate. And it felt like a good place to be. If you're gonna be jet lagged, might as well use it to your advantage and get one of the best spots on the terrace but just under the awning so you get the heat lamps. *** I got the brunch because I wanted eggs with my varieties of bread. It was 40 euro and I'm pretty sure it could be split between two people if you wanted. But I still ate it all :) You can ask for the iconic whipped cream for an extra 3.50 euro but I noticed so many people were leaving their goblets barely touched and it felt like a waste, so I forewent the indulgence. The hot chocolate is stand-alone good as is. Don't feel FOMO. The croissant came out fresh and flaky. The jam was delicious. The service was professional and friendly. Holy hot chocolate. It's rich, but completely worth it. And receiving a huge bowl of whipped cream made my inner child squeal with glee. You really can't miss this. We were afraid that the wait was going to be too long since people were filling the outdoor seating to look at the Eiffel Tower light show, but since it was chilly we wanted to sit inside. They promised that it would only be a few minutes, someone grabbed us and took us to our table. The interior was a little cramped like most cafes are, but it was totally manageable. Each had a Parisein Duo sandwhich, which was good. I recommend getting the side of small potatoes. They made the dish. Wine was very reasonably priced. Service was attentive. Seven took home some Desserts with you. All on, a great night! read more
While in Paris, I was on a mission to visit the infamous Carette. Given all the hype, I braced myself for potential disappointment--but to my surprise, it lived up to expectations. Carette is more than just its famous hot chocolate and croissants; they also serve a variety of breakfast options. I ordered the hot chocolate, a chocolate croissant, and a bacon quiche with a side of greens--everything was absolutely delicious, and I left feeling full and satisfied. What to Expect: *Be prepared for a long line in the morning, though it moves relatively quickly. My friend and I waited about 20 minutes before being seated. *Tight seating--you'll feel like you're dining with the table next to you. This place is all about fast turnover, so they move people in and out quickly. *Service is rushed, which can lead to mishaps. Unfortunately, a waitress spilled (thankfully cold) hot chocolate down my friend's back and onto a pink jacket at the next table. While they did assist with cleanup and offered dry cleaning, that's not very helpful for tourists. Surprisingly, neither table was comped for the inconvenience. Final Thoughts: While the food is undeniably great, Carette could improve its customer care and attention to detail. The seating arrangement is uncomfortably cramped, making accidents like this more likely. As others have mentioned, the line is always very long but it moves quick. You can't visit here without their hot chocolate and croissants. The hot chocolate is rich and thick. The croissants are fluffy and delicious. Prices are a little high for what you're getting though. read more
The hype was real and this place lived up to the expectations!!! The wait wasn't really bad as many have suggested. Maybe because of the season being cold and we wanting to sit outside for the pictures we got to go in front of others. The coffee all of it was really good and the chocolate carette was amazing. Got to come twice to try different things and everything was great. Last thing word of caution the service best way I can describe is different, but after a few days in Paris we got to learn and accept the culture is different. If ever in Paris, this is a must!! Such a beautiful ambiance and gives you that real feel of im in an amazing cafe in Paris! Just a heads up there was a line out the door! We were able to get in faster because of our party size! You must order the hot chocolate with whip cream! It is one of their famous items people come all over to try! We came here after watching the sunset and taking pics of the Eifel Tower from Trocadero. As expected, per the reviews we read, this place did not disappoint. I believe i found the best hot chocolate here with the flavor perfection i could not believe and having the perfect texture! It def paired well with the croissant. Hubby ordered an omelette which he mentioned was delightful. This get packed as well as it is in front of the Trocadero, so it gets the traffic. We sat outside which was perfect, we were able to people watch and just enjoy the morning. There is a display of a variety of pastries inside which we didn't get to try as we were so full but this will is already bookmarked for the next trip! read more
This was my favorite hot chocolate in Paris. I preferred it over the hot chocolate at Angelina Paris. The croissant was very fresh and it paired very well with the hot chocolate. I liked the ambiance a lot here and the waiters were nice. I can't wait to go back during my next trip to Paris. read more

I consider myself a casual hot chocolate connoisseur... and this is the best hot chocolate I've had in my entire life! The hot chocolate is rich and the whipped cream isn't too sweet and super fluffy -- this location is right by Eiffel Tower so expect a short wait, but otherwise a great pit stop! read more
We had seen plenty of reviews for this place, so we made a point to stop in on our visit. It was late, and we had already had dinner, so we were just looking for a later-night snack. Absolutely unforgettable! First off, we sat outside, which was a fantastic ambiance, even if it was a tad crowded, even after 10 PM (welcome to France!). The waiter was fantastic; super polite and helpful. Something for non-Europeans to remember: don't expect fast service. Honestly, i see so many reviews, and it's like, did you even research the culture? If you show up acting like an idiot, being loud, rude, making no attempt to respect their culture or even speak the language, then yeah, people are going to be less attentive to you. welcome to everywhere. if you even try, they will appreciate you, and this place is no different. And being able to speak French, we had a wonderful experience. So, that aside, our late night snack. This place is known for a lot of things, but we went with the canapés maison and the chocolate chaud - finger sandwiches (not a direct translation) and hot chocolate. This place is certainly known for their hot chocolate, and damn, the reputation is worth it! Easily the best i've ever had, and it was thick, with a masterful flavor. the chantilly cream added a touch of creaminess, and that in and of itself was worthy of a spoon, which...yes, that happened, because they gave us so much. Absolutely fantastic. The finger sandwiches were fantastic as well! Very small, don't expect something huge. The quality, though, was magnificent! We had the tomato, chicken, and ham offerings. Bread was soft, butter was fantastic, and overall, the flavor was top notch for all of these. Honestly, if we hadn't had dinner, we probably would've stopped here for more. We did stop into another Carette on the other side of Paris, and that time, again, we had the finger sandwiches. But this time, i had a coffee, which was delicious as well. This viral cafe was a okay experience in my opinion. There really is no view of the Eiffel Tower and the place is really packed. I felt too cramped and the service felt rushed. The hot chocolate was good and rich and paired well with the whipped cream. The chocolate croissant was also okay, but I've had better for almost half the price. Finally, the price of strawberries was outrageous, around €19.50! Overall, I think this place is overpriced and overrated. The hot chocolate is good though. read more
