A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!
So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.
Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.
I was in LOVE with their hot chocolate here. They give you a giant mound of whipped cream for you to use with your hot chocolate. Apparently, the thing to do here is also to dip croissants in to the chocolate. I thought it may be a little weird but I was pleasantly surprised how well they paired. Anyways, this location was pretty big and they were pretty crowded by the time we left. We came at just the right time before there was a line forming outside . They also have a nice selection of cute pastries so if you have the time and are in the mood for sweets this is a nice spot to hit.
My daughter very much wanted to eat at Carette during our Paris trip and we managed to squeeze it in on our last day! The first time we tried to go, the line was around the block. This was late afternoon. We decided to try to come first thing in the morning to beat the crowds! It paid off! We got there around 9am and while the line was growing, it was much shorter. Here's a helpful tip.... Decide whether you want to eat outside or inside and stick to your decision when the host comes asking in the line. A group ahead of us kept changing their answer based on when they saw people leaving from either area, and you could tell the host was getting annoyed. Our group of 4 wanted to be outside, no question, and he ended up taking us first rather than the group ahead! We got a super cute outdoor table. Be aware, seating areas are small, typical of Paris. Our server was very nice and patient with our terrible French while we ordered! The hot chocolate was literally the best! It comes in a pot, and they give you so much! We all had two cups each, and still could not finish! And the whip cream just puts it over the top! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've had. The croissants were good too, a nice compliment to the hot chocolate. They have a very extensive menu, I would love to go back and try more if I'm in Paris again.
Waited in line for about 15 mins and got seated as they cleaned and cleared the outside seating. Ordered the hot chocolate with strawberries, cream ( cookie that comes with the order), citron tarte and a pistachio tarte. Loved the bites and they definitely refueled us up for the rest of our day walking around town. Price for strawberries at 19Euros is a ripoff!!! Worth an experience. Do stop by!!
For the popular hot choco, yes! It's actually good too share, it'll be too sweet for one person (and I have super sweet tooth!). All others, including crepe and macarons are so-so. Well, crepes taste almost the same everywhere. LOL. Nice little spot that's a walking distance from Trocadero and a train station. Line was long at 10:30am even on a rainy day, so be prepared. Some locals would push you off the lane. Neighboring patisseries or cafes won't let you sit nor stand within "their area", weather doesn't matter. Of all food places we've tried, they're the only ones who asked for a tip. I'd say a little expensive and maybe over-rated but a good one-try for tourists, that said, I may or may not come back depending on who I'll be with next time.
Everyone has seen the viral videos of where to go in Paris, and Carette is definitely one of those hot spots to try. My friends and I stopped by on Wednesday morning around 11 and as we walked up from the metro station, the line was wrapped around the street. Thankfully it was only a 20 minute wait as some guest wanted to sit outside. We were sat near the bakery area and it's like a packed mad house in there. We immediately ordered the hot chocolate which comes with a huge portion of whipped cream. I also ordered a quiche with goat cheese and tomatoes which comes with a side salad. For starters, the hot chocolate is a whole presentation. It is not only a pretty rich chocolate color, it's also delicious but very rich. The huge whipped cream dollop for the table was so pretty, of course we had to snap away pictures for our social media before we took our first sips. The hot chocolate was perfect for the cold rainy weather, but very decadent. Make sure you ask for a glass of tap water to wash down the richness. It will cost you about 12.5 euros but it will give you 3 or 4 cups per hot chocolate, which is more than enough. The quiche was really good as well. Very moist and flavorful. It was light enough for a brunch but also a great balance to the rich hot chocolate. The only thing I wished for was that the bottom crust would've been more cooked instead of it being soggy. We had a great visit here and a must try whenever you're in Paris, especially in the colder seasons.
TLDR; Cute vibe just a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Great drinks and good food, slightly higher priced than what you may expect but worth it. This cafe offers the famous hot chocolate which is a must, not too rich but perfectly dense for a delicious cup. You can sweeten it up and provide a less dense texture with the whip that comes paired with it. The fruit is delicious but over priced in my opinion. The crepe was good and what you'd expect. Can't go wrong with the lemon tart or butter croissant as well. The service was straight forward but a touch slow, that seems to be the vibe throughout Paris.
Service was great, and fast! Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves very quickly. Must try the hot chocolate. It's very thick and rich. the whipped cream on the side was the perfect match. I was most excited for this crepe!!! Delicious! I got the Nutella crepe with strawberries. Highly recommend! And a must stop if you're in Paris!

Carette is an amazing restaurant with a lively atmosphere. It was a cozy spot with incredible food. We went for breakfast and the service was very fast. The hot chocolate was amazing and would highly recommended. The pastries were incredible and we could tell that they were fresh. The pastries also paired really well with the drinks. This location is great as it if walking distance from an Eiffel Tower viewing spot. read more
I went early morning on a weekday with no wait! Place was empty and was easy to get a seat. I ordered a pain au chocolate, orange juice, scrambled eggs, and their famous hot chocolate with cream! The hot chocolate was rich, decadent, and delicious paired with the cream. Their eggs were soft, creamy, and buttery in taste. Orange juice tasted freshly squeezed while the pain au chocolate was just okay. Overall would definitely come back for their hot chocolate! read more
I visited here while I was in Paris and I must say delicious. I know it's a lot of hype around it on social media and it definitely lives up to it. It was a beautiful day and we arrived early enough to get a table outside to enjoy and people watch. The ambiance was good and the food delicious. Carette really was that girl for our Paris trip. Wandering around one evening looking for a warm beverage so we stumbled into Carette and had some of the richest most decadent hot chocolate and crepes ever. Like you really can't beat it. Our waiter was was so nice to us and patient with the menu. We all ordered the hot chocolate and got an assortment of crepes and everything was delicious. We sat outside also and you can see the Eiffel Tower. If you're close by you have to pop in here! read more

This place was honestly not worth the hype in my opinion -- high prices and mediocre food but what you do get is the lovely Parisian ambiance steps away from Trocadero Square. We came here for an early-ish dinner during our visit to Paris so we could see the Eiffel Tower sparkle at night afterwards. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but there was no wait for outdoor seating so we opted for that given the lovely weather. We ordered the poulet club sandwiches plus the veggie soup. The soup was pretty standard, and the sandwiches were cute and quite delicious but definitely quite pricey for what you get. Overall this definitely wasn't a top dining experience for me while in Paris, but maybe we should have tried their hot chocolate... read more
Always worth the hype. The hot chocolate has been earth shattering to me ever since 2022 when I first had it. It's the kind that makes you crave a European hot chocolate when you're at home. Macarons are also thumbs up! I think one time back during my first trip, they saw me carry a Laduree bag and looked at it in disgust and said "ours are better". Two years later, I'm still not sure about that, but one thing that's taught me is that there *are* better macarons than Laduree and Pierre Herme. So give them a try! We waited about 20 minutes around 7pm but got seated earlier since we're New Yorkers and don't mind the cold. Service was speedy! read more

I was so excited to visit the Carette in Trocadero based on all the online buzz , but was unfortunately disappointed. First off, the prices are beyond reason.. I get that it is a touristy iconic place, but 19 Euros for an Aperol Spritz is actually insane. The crepes and food are also on the higher end of prices, but I went with it for the location and high expectations. Sadly, the prices did not meet the quality of the food, the crepes were edging on the uncooked with the tinies amount of toppings/ fillings. There are so many better options in Paris. Go somewhere else! read more

Busy cafe not far from the Eiffel tower, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Well staffed but service can be slow at times as they really do get busy. Come here for the hot chocolate (which they're social media famous for), and the decent macarons and crepes. The rest of the food (at least as far as we tried) was honestly not very good. The soupe d'oignon is better at either of the neighboring restaurants next door. Tasted not as fresh, both in terms of the broth and the cheese. Their veggie soup was bland as well. Just felt like the savory food isn't made with love or care, but just pumped out. Generally pricey menu. Yes it's in a touristy area, but either restaurant next door offers pretty much the same food options for half the price. If we were to return, I'd only really get the hot chocolate, as it tastes top notch and is an experience. read more

A bit overhyped - I'd return solely for the hot chocolate! Arrival: My friend and I arrived around 8 am on a Sunday for breakfast before exploring the Trocadéro/Eiffel Tower. We waited in a short line for about 5-10 minutes before being seated outside. Definitely come early; it's not worth a long wait! Food: I ordered the brunch special, which included hot chocolate, orange juice, pain au chocolat, toast/jam, and scrambled eggs with cheese and chives. I found 38€ reasonable for the amount of food, especially since it could be shared. The food itself was mid. The eggs were cold and underseasoned, but I enjoyed the hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream. It wasn't too thick but very sweet, as expected. The fresh orange juice was perfectly tart! Service: We felt rushed and had difficulty finding a waiter to ask for water. The high table turnover is understandable due to demand, but it's not the place to linger/chat as you sip and snack! TL;DR - I enjoyed the hot chocolate and orange juice, but wouldn't wait in a long line for it. If I return, I'll skip the food and just order drinks. Arrive early to be seated quickly! read more

We had to visit Carette again. It was literally 1/2 a block from our hotel. It was right across the Eiffel Tower. There was a small queue while we waited around two in the afternoon. We opted to be seated inside, but it was quite loud I expected. But the service was great. The service were very attentive. We were given water at the end per our request. The lovely server was very appreciative as we paid the bill and left her a tip. They were very friendly and the most courteous staff, including the management. We can't wait to come back. read more
Love love love this place Love it so much, I went twice in under a week. I was in the city for only 4 days and allocated two meals here. That's commitment. I kicked off day 1 here by meeting my friend for a quick bite. All I did was drop off my luggage at my airbnb then went straight here. My friend was already in line so the wait was fairly quick. I do have to say that I have to commend how quick that line goes. Their staff are on it. We got seated right out front, with a full view of the Eiffel tower. We placed our order with a lovely lady who we later found out speaks not only french and English, but also Arabic. She was so nice to us. Two days later, I dropped in with another friend. But this time we biked from our airbnb to the location by the Louvre. We worked up an appetite which resulted in me going hard by ordering so much food. The hot chocolate is obviously the highlight for everyone, but for me it was the eggs. My god they just do it better here. Impeccable service. The folks at both locations I visited were friendly and nice. read more
Was very excited to try this iconic spot near the Trocadéro, and was not disappointed. Carette is a picturesque patisserie with delicious pastries and hot chocolate that has people lining around the block! We came here on a weekday afternoon and were lucky to be seated almost immediately, and service was friendly. Inside is very quaint and has the feeling of a classic French cafe. There is also an outside patio, that has a view of the Eiffel tower. The hot chocolate was very delicious - rich in flavor and creamy! I also love that it was served in metal tea pots and with the signature excess of whip cream on the side to add in. We also ordered the petit pastries which came with two small random pastries that were great to pair with the hot chocolate. It may be considered a "tourist trap" and is a bit on the pricey side in comparison to other patisseries, but overall I was glad I tried this popular place! read more
Stopped by here on the recommendation of a new friend in Paris. It was in a busy and mildly touristy area so we weren't expecting much. So let me tell you that the hot chocolate here will haunt me forever as one of the best things I have ever tasted in my life. It's not fair that it can only be had in a patisserie 5671 miles from my home. It warmed me and elevated my mood in ways that should be studied by science. I suspect that it could solve the mental health crisis unfolding all over the world. We tried the hot chocolate in several other places in Paris prior to leaving, and all were good. But this was the best. Everything we had here was good by the way. But the chocolate is the star of the show. Go for that. Just know that you will be thinking about it forever. read more
I came here at the behest of a tik tok which promised to transport me to my coquette era. It did! This spot is nothing but tourist but it has all the Parisian feels. I ordered the hot chocolate, latte, club sandwich, flan & croissants. It was all delicious and this place gets my vote for best hot chocolate. I've added this place to my Paris must go spots! There is a long line that forms but it goes by fast. I waited about 30 minutes. There were a lot of pastries I wanted to try so I'll definitely be back! read more

Many consider Carette to be the proverbial tourist trap -- highly instagrammable yet both overpriced and overrated. I disagree, based on our recent experience. Their hot chocolate is the real star; truly delicious, both rich and decadent. When paired with their exceptionally light, fluffy, and smooth whipped cream, the whole experience is elevated even further. While we didn't try their amazing looking pastries, their crepe, quiche, and "pain au chocolat" were all excellent. We spent 124 Euros for a light breakfast for 4. Highly recommended! read more

Based on a recommendation from a friend (plus aided by various Instagram videos) I came to Carette to jumpstart my first day in Paris. I came early on a Saturday morning at about 8:30am. There was no line and I was seated right away. I ordered the Carette hot chocolate with the chantilly cream as well as a plain croissant. It came quite fast! Probably about 5 minutes after I ordered. The waiter poured the hot chocolate from the jug into my cup for me before setting it on the table. I immediately dug in! The hot chocolate was thick but not too thick, still very much drinkable. It was rich, sweet, and very delicious! The croissant was flaky and yummy! It wasn't necessarily the best croissant I've had but it was good. The inside of the restaurant was very nice and the staff was very kind. Overall, I had a really great experience! The food is a bit pricey but I do think it's paying for a certain experience and I honestly enjoyed what I got. Do recommend! read more
My friend got the hot chocolate, which honestly could be the best hot chocolate I've ever had! But also I've only pretty much had only the instant hot chocolate, so maybe that's not saying much. The cafe latte was really good as well! We also got some finger sandwiches and pistachio cake. The pistachio cake isn't much of a cake but a slice from a loaf, and it was a bit dry. Is this worth the hype? I think so! The whole interior and exterior is exactly what you'd expect of a Paris restaurant. The service was quick and easy. We did wait in line (even in the winter) for about 20ish minutes but we were swiftly seated inside. Our server recommended some light bites and was a great person to chat with. The hot chocolates were so delicious and rich. I honestly could have shared one with my friend. We got some little pastries and a sort of stuffed baguette to munch on. read more

There was a huge line when we got there but it went so fast and def worth the wait Service - is v friendly! Our server was efficient and very pleasant. Food - amazing! I waited in line for 45 minutes to be seated and I have zero regrets. In fact, I would've waited longer if I had to because Carette was one of my favorite experiences while in Paris. When my friend and I were seated at a table, our server was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the famous Carette hot chocolate for two, crepes, and some of their macarons. When everything was brought to our table, our server placed everything so delicately, before pouring hot chocolate from the kettle into each of our teacups. It was picturesque, and such an exemplary level of service. Once I tried the hot chocolate, it was love at first sip. I had never in my life had a hot chocolate that was as creamy and delicious as this one. Then there's the whipped cream which was absolute perfection. The crepes and macarons were also delicious, but the true winner was the hot chocolate. If you plan to visit Carette, be prepared for a long line, but know that it's very much worth it! There is typically not a long line or wait for takeaway, you can walk right in and order at the counter in the back. I returned the following day to order a hot chocolate with whipped cream for my stroll around Paris and it was just as delicious as the dine-in one. I would highly recommend adding Carette to your Paris itinerary, you might end up like me and be back again within 24 hours! read more

Carette is a classic cafe in the heart of Paris, not to be missed! We tried a bit of it all...quiche, croissant, penne, salad and of course their famous hot chocolate and fresh cream. The macarons were amazing! And the packaging was beautiful. This is an open air cafe. Seating is somewhat tight but manageable. We made friends with the diners next to us. It's such a cute place too not far from the Eiffel Tower and other main attractions. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive - so wonderful. I first discovered Carette years ago from their very small Montmartre location and immediately fell in love. I feel like a girl never forgets her first gift of fresh macaroons flown straight in from France, mine were Ladurée - many many moons ago when Ladurée did not exists in the states. Each time I visit Paris I try more and more macaroons but Carette remain my favorite among the endless options and larger more famous stores. This past trip I decided I'd make it into a little hot chocolate tour as well, having hot cocoas from all of the places. I made it to 3 ;) 2 of which I'd had before but realized I don't know that I'd ever had Carette's. I trained over early Monday morning after brekke to secure a box of macaroons to bring home to my sons girlfriend. I wanted her to have options :) and to be able to enjoy some of my favorites. I built her a box at the counter and then secured a table to enjoy a hot chocolate and a couple of macaroons there. My hot cocoa was great but I think my favorite remains the sit down option at Angelina if you don't mind waiting for a table, or even perhaps their takeaway option. Service was good and I'm not exactly sure what it is about their macaroons that make them consistently my favorite year in and year out but they simply are. When I arrived home, my sons gf and I enjoyed coffee and had a little taste test with the options I brought home and I still very much always vote for Carette, don't get me wrong I love all macaroons so don't pass up the other lovely places but I highly recommend these. This location is also perfect! Literally steps from the metro which I'm sure you'll be riding everywhere if you're doing Paris right. read more

I always end up ordering the carette salad. It's honestly so delicious every single time. I do get the iconic hot chocolate and cream each time too. Which honestly is a lot. You can alwayssss share an order of whipped cream with two or three people for your hot chocolates. The service is typical for a packed restaurant in a tourist area, it's alright. They are usually very nice to me, but they tend to treat you how you treat them :) The ambiance is really nice outside if the weather permits. Lots of tables but typically there is a long line outside (that goes pretty quickly) to receive a table. read more
This place has no shortage of TikTok fandom, and I'm so glad I was able to dine here. My friend and I came around 11 AM on a weekday, and there was already a pretty long line! I'd say we waited maybe about 20 minutes or so, which isn't too bad. Carette is such a cute cafe with TONS of options when it comes to food. I was seriously overwhelmed with what I should get because everything sounds so good. I ended up getting a coffee, as well as the club sandwich, which comes in a finger sandwich format and is plated so thoughtfully. I got the Parisien "Duo" which I thought was flavorful yet light. We ended our meal with the Mont Blanc and mini raspberry tarts -- such a delicious and decadent way to end the meal! read more

Tourist trap? Yes. But I am a tourist :) Carette is one of the most popular Paris cafes and visiting a cafe for brunch is a MUST DO in Paris. I love Carette because of their branded plates and lovely outdoor seating options. There are multiple Carette locations but this one is conveniently located next to the Trocadéro, which is a beautiful viewing area across from the Eiffel Tower. We ordered a few pastries, cafes, and their breakfast plates. Everything was pretty good but what I thought was REALLY GOOD was the hot chocolate and the scrambled eggs. The hot chocolate is a must-get and is what diners come here for. Just imagine the most rich and creamy chocolate you've ever had. Now imagine it in liquid form. Thick and delicious. read more

Prepared for the long tourists line! Must try hot chocolate. Tips: Get the combo for hot chocolate, a juice, a croissant and some toast for 20 euros as opposed to one cup of hot chocolate for 11 euros. The hot chocolate was sooo good by itself without the cream. Cream was very good too. Croissants and chocolate croissants are average. I would return to have the hot chocolate again when I'm in Paris! read more
WOW! A Paris favorite that is 100% worth the hype. If you like chocolate/hot chocolate, Carette is definitely worth a stop. I will say that it's a little pricey, but Paris is an expensive city and Carette is popular for a reason. We got the hot chocolate, the chantilly, and a croissant each to dip. It was a GREAT breakfast and a great way to start off the day as a tourist. I don't really think anything else on the menu is worth it besides the hot chocolate. read more
A must when in Paris! This location has a million dollar view of the Eiffel tower while sipping the most delicious chocolate milk you'll ever taste. The croissant was the best version we tasted in Paris. Sooo buttery, flaky on the outside but moist on the inside. If only the lines are not too long I would have eaten here everyday. They are probably the busiest cafe in Paris but their service is straightforward. Order what you like and when you're done you have to call them. The waiters will not come to you after they serve you your order so be prepared to let them know everything you need when they approach you. read more
Years ago I gave this restaurant 5 stars. The eggs were delicious! However, this time, we both ordered the scrambled eggs and they were lacking the love they once possessed. No broiled Parmesan like the past and very bland. Super expensive too! $30 for a serving of scrambled eggs is outrageous. read more
A friend recommended this place. My husband and I came here after seeing the Eiffel Tower. There seems to always be a long line halfway down the block. I commend the host and hostess for trying to get groups seated efficiently even in pouring rain. It's definitely crowded with little space but the hot chocolate and pastries are worth the wait. I've never had such rich hot chocolate before. It's definitely a must when in Paris. I really liked my husbands crepe with strawberries ! read more
