A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!
So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.
Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.
I was in LOVE with their hot chocolate here. They give you a giant mound of whipped cream for you to use with your hot chocolate. Apparently, the thing to do here is also to dip croissants in to the chocolate. I thought it may be a little weird but I was pleasantly surprised how well they paired. Anyways, this location was pretty big and they were pretty crowded by the time we left. We came at just the right time before there was a line forming outside . They also have a nice selection of cute pastries so if you have the time and are in the mood for sweets this is a nice spot to hit.
My daughter very much wanted to eat at Carette during our Paris trip and we managed to squeeze it in on our last day! The first time we tried to go, the line was around the block. This was late afternoon. We decided to try to come first thing in the morning to beat the crowds! It paid off! We got there around 9am and while the line was growing, it was much shorter. Here's a helpful tip.... Decide whether you want to eat outside or inside and stick to your decision when the host comes asking in the line. A group ahead of us kept changing their answer based on when they saw people leaving from either area, and you could tell the host was getting annoyed. Our group of 4 wanted to be outside, no question, and he ended up taking us first rather than the group ahead! We got a super cute outdoor table. Be aware, seating areas are small, typical of Paris. Our server was very nice and patient with our terrible French while we ordered! The hot chocolate was literally the best! It comes in a pot, and they give you so much! We all had two cups each, and still could not finish! And the whip cream just puts it over the top! Hands down the best hot chocolate I've had. The croissants were good too, a nice compliment to the hot chocolate. They have a very extensive menu, I would love to go back and try more if I'm in Paris again.
Waited in line for about 15 mins and got seated as they cleaned and cleared the outside seating. Ordered the hot chocolate with strawberries, cream ( cookie that comes with the order), citron tarte and a pistachio tarte. Loved the bites and they definitely refueled us up for the rest of our day walking around town. Price for strawberries at 19Euros is a ripoff!!! Worth an experience. Do stop by!!
For the popular hot choco, yes! It's actually good too share, it'll be too sweet for one person (and I have super sweet tooth!). All others, including crepe and macarons are so-so. Well, crepes taste almost the same everywhere. LOL. Nice little spot that's a walking distance from Trocadero and a train station. Line was long at 10:30am even on a rainy day, so be prepared. Some locals would push you off the lane. Neighboring patisseries or cafes won't let you sit nor stand within "their area", weather doesn't matter. Of all food places we've tried, they're the only ones who asked for a tip. I'd say a little expensive and maybe over-rated but a good one-try for tourists, that said, I may or may not come back depending on who I'll be with next time.
Everyone has seen the viral videos of where to go in Paris, and Carette is definitely one of those hot spots to try. My friends and I stopped by on Wednesday morning around 11 and as we walked up from the metro station, the line was wrapped around the street. Thankfully it was only a 20 minute wait as some guest wanted to sit outside. We were sat near the bakery area and it's like a packed mad house in there. We immediately ordered the hot chocolate which comes with a huge portion of whipped cream. I also ordered a quiche with goat cheese and tomatoes which comes with a side salad. For starters, the hot chocolate is a whole presentation. It is not only a pretty rich chocolate color, it's also delicious but very rich. The huge whipped cream dollop for the table was so pretty, of course we had to snap away pictures for our social media before we took our first sips. The hot chocolate was perfect for the cold rainy weather, but very decadent. Make sure you ask for a glass of tap water to wash down the richness. It will cost you about 12.5 euros but it will give you 3 or 4 cups per hot chocolate, which is more than enough. The quiche was really good as well. Very moist and flavorful. It was light enough for a brunch but also a great balance to the rich hot chocolate. The only thing I wished for was that the bottom crust would've been more cooked instead of it being soggy. We had a great visit here and a must try whenever you're in Paris, especially in the colder seasons.
TLDR; Cute vibe just a couple blocks from the Eiffel Tower. Great drinks and good food, slightly higher priced than what you may expect but worth it. This cafe offers the famous hot chocolate which is a must, not too rich but perfectly dense for a delicious cup. You can sweeten it up and provide a less dense texture with the whip that comes paired with it. The fruit is delicious but over priced in my opinion. The crepe was good and what you'd expect. Can't go wrong with the lemon tart or butter croissant as well. The service was straight forward but a touch slow, that seems to be the vibe throughout Paris.
Service was great, and fast! Don't be discouraged by the long line, it moves very quickly. Must try the hot chocolate. It's very thick and rich. the whipped cream on the side was the perfect match. I was most excited for this crepe!!! Delicious! I got the Nutella crepe with strawberries. Highly recommend! And a must stop if you're in Paris!

A TikTok find that didn't disappoint!!! There was a long line to get in but it moved pretty quickly. We weren't able to get a seat outside but the inside was cute too. I ordered the hot chocolate and a croissant and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I'm not normally a huge hot chocolate fan but this was perfection! The hot chocolate on its own was really good but something about the whipped cream mixed in with the hot chocolate that just made it even better. And dipping the croissant in it was chefs kiss! Honestly, I'd only come here for the hot chocolate and pastries. Don't plan on eating here because it is quite pricey. For example, plain scrambled eggs were 16€. However, the views and proximity to the Eiffel Tower lookout point is ideal and it's the perfect morning run before you start the day. I'm honestly still craving this hot chocolate so 10/10 recommend! read more

If you like dark chocolate you will love the hot chocolate. I don't, so I didn't. Whipped cream was good though and waiter was kind. Overall wouldn't return, but it was a decent stop on a chilly night. read more

The hot chocolate experience alone is enough to come here. It's so rich and the ability to customize how you want to have it using the whip is amazing. They have so many pastries and desserts to choose from as well as meals if you're hungry. It was too bad they ran out of croissants when we were there. Service was quick and efficient. They were definitely busy but continued to hustle through the kitchen to get everything delivered to everyone. It was a longer wait to sit outside. Very Parisian to people watch outside while enjoying your dining experience. We opted to sit inside because we didn't mind, so we got seated pretty quickly. I definitely think this is a spot more popular among tourists but if you're going there's so many locations it can definitely still be on your list of places to check out. read more

£18.50 for their special combo of a hot chocolate or tea with either 4 macaroons or 1 pastry from a selection between certain hours (until 8pm) was worth the price for the environment, spread, and tourist trap factor. The desserts are branded and the chocolate is decadent. After having another cafe's hot chocolate, I can tell that the one at Carette is much creamier plus they serve whipped cream on the side. Be ready to wait in line if you want to sit outside, otherwise, we got to sit inside with no wait time around lunch time on a Tuesday. read more

Extremely long line to get seated that went pretty quick. We ordered the hot chocolate with the whipping cream, and French onion soup. Both items were excellent. Service was exceptionally quick as they were getting people in and out to turn those table around. This place is killing it. Tik tok raved about this place and we were skeptical. We would do it again when we return to Paris. The only negative was they crammed the tables so close together, I kept getting bumped with the other customers passing by as well as the wait staff. The whole experience felt rushed and stressful but as far as the product, they nailed it. The wait staff was hustling and working hard, the longest wait was the line to get in. It was a cute cafe, but busy and hectic. Don't check it out to relax, just go for the hot chocolate and carry on with your itinerary. read more

About a 15 to 20 minute wait early in the morning for people clamoring to eat breakfast, get some yummy pastries and drink their delicious hot chocolate. The croissant was nice and flaky. Paired that with the bold and flavorful hot chocolate was heaven on earth. The hot chocolate was for real good! Loved dipping my croissant in the hot chocolate! read more

Went for breakfast before we left the city (we were staying very close) and we were not disappointed by the food. For close to €50 it is a little pricey, but you do get a slight view of the Eiffel Tower (a new building for the olympics blocks a lot of the view) In North America, this would be a $30 brekkie, but ambience and TikTok mean that the price is going to be a little higher. Food quality was excellent, the chocolat chaud was really good (called almost bitter by my companion) and very much a dark chocolate flavour. I'd recommend a visit, but with so many choices for brasseries in the Trocadéro space? I will continue to try other spots for those experiences too read more
The hot chocolate and the whipped cream are pretty delicious, as well as the little puff things that come with the hot chocolate. Minus 1 star for the price point - it is quite expensive - you don't get that much hot chocolate and also the tea sandwiches were pretty tiny. They tasted good but not much inside them and expensive for such a small little half sandwich. read more
I heard this was the place to go to for hot chocolate from multiple sources, so I decided this was where we had to go! Needed redemption from the subpar hot chocolate we had at cafe dupleix, so we decided to go here after visiting the Eiffel Tower (~15 min by bus). We got seated inside, where there was a nice (but cramped) ambiance. We ordered the Vienese hot chocolate and a hazelnut pastry, which was so good! I forgot what it was called so I'll post a picture of it. The hot chocolate was okay, but I thought it was a bit overrated. The first cup was amazing but I honestly did not need 3 servings of it. It was super thick and sweet, so we were over it after the first cup. Tip: If you want to try their croissants, go there early. I tried to order a croissant around 8PM but they told me they run out of those in the mornings read more

The location and familiarity of this landmark location are the reason this place is popular. The pastries are lovely, but $27 Eu for a basic chicken sandwich was ridiculous and the sandwich was nothing to remember. Try the hot chocolate for fun, but skip lunch- it is grossly over priced. Many other beautiful and delicious options with more reasonable prices all around the area. read more
Very seldom does a place live up to the hype, but this place's hot chocolate absolutely did! Thick, rich, creamy, sweet, decadent...all the things. One pot is enough for 2 people. We went in January too, so it was absolute perfection to have it on a freezing day. And we went twice on our trip! We also enjoyed their array desserts and I tried the ham and cheese omelet which I found pretty good but overly expensive. Anyway, go for the hot chocolate! read more
On our trip to Paris we did lots of research to visit and enjoy some cafes. This spot popped up multiple times in our search. I was pleasantly surprised on the experience here. Yes, it's very popular so there was a long line to get seated. However, the line went by very quickly. When ordering, food and drinks came out quickly. Their famous hot chocolate is a must to order, just for the experience! The crepes and the salmon/truffle eggs were also incredible. It was very busy inside so it was quite noisy but we don't mind this at all! Will definitely be back on our next trip here. read more
This place lives up to the hype! Very busy, so be prepared for some prompt service and potentially a wait time. No reservations that I am aware of, so be patient as it's worth the wait. We got the croissant, a few macaroons and of course the famous hot chocolate! As a person who doesn't love chocolate, this was absolutely incredible. The chocolate is so dense and rich, yet not overwhelming at the same time. Pair that with the REAL whipped crème and you've got a masterpiece. Very cute, upscale and regal place for a coffee! The lines are long, but it's because people are going in for the authentic Parisian cafe / people-watching vibe. The best thing here is actually their kouign amann. I would recommend skipping the line for indoor dining, walking in an ordering a KA to go, and walking around the city. Their hot chocolate is good but VERY rich and sweet. The mound of whipped cream is delicious but a lot and most people end up wasting it because they can't finish that much. read more
This is a great pastries place for my daughter to have dessert, coffee or chocolate after a cold day in January taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris on the platform of Parvis Des Libertee et des Droits. It's about 3 minutes walk from there. There are quite a few of these Carette restaurants around, but this one seems to be the most crowded one because it's close the place you can see the Eiffel Tower and next to many coffeeshops. The chocolate in here my daughter said it's the best anywhere but she actually like the atmosphere here. Very young and very friendly IMO. The kids feel right at home. The prices are quite reasonable on some and more expensive on other. 12 euro for a hot chocolate that my daughter is raving about? a little too much for my taste. There are quite many little pastries and cakes desserts, they also make sandwiches many people enjoy. We came here twice because my daughter liked it. The waiters here are quite friendly, attentive and open, everyone seems to love them. I liked them too. I only have coffee came with little cookies and my daughter tried anything she liked, crepes, cake, coffee. My wife ordered a hot and spicy drink which I liked too, especially in the cold. The first one was great, the second time was short of liquor as she claimed. So it wasn't consistent. Anyhow, it's a great place to sit and talk about the day, because it's quite noisy in here. You can talk and laugh as loud as you want and you won't bother anyone at all, that's the great thing about this coffeeshop. Quite popular I heard. We visited Carette on our recent visit to Paris and had wonderful experience. It's located a few blocks from our hotel and next to Trocadero which was awesome. We arrived just before the breakfast rush and got seated immediately. The highlight for me was their hot chocolate and croissant, which was delicious. Their signature hot chocolate was rich and really flavorful, aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It comes with whopping side of whipped cream, adding an extra layer of lusciousness. The croissant was crisp and flaky. Perfect companion for dipping into the hot chocolate...truly yummy pairing indeed. Each bite bursting with flavor. We ordered it as combo which came with orange juice, toast and scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and on point. It was the perfect Parisian breakfast and great start to our Paris Vacation. I absolutely adored this cute cafe in Paris, located close to touristy spots like the Eiffel Tower and Trocadero. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. We came around 11:00am for some brunch and there was a bit of a line but the wait wasn't too long at all! We opted for the indoor seating so we could get seated quicker - seems like more people are interested in outdoor dining! The indoor interior was so cute and very beautiful. We got a waitress who was so sweet, and though our French was super limited, she was fluent in English which made the whole experience so much easier! Their menu also has English translation which is so helpful haha - no need for google translate yay!! We ended up ordering one of their brunch set menus for both me and my partner. It was 36 euros, which is more expensive than some of the other cafes we went to in Paris. However, it is kind of more so a tourist hotspot which might be why it was more expensive. I still thought it was worth it given how much the set came with and also the fact that the presentation was so beautiful. The scrambled eggs were by far some of the best eggs we've had - super creamy and fluffy! We also really enjoyed the hot chocolate which was super rich. You do have to order the whipped cream separately because it doesn't come with the hot chocolate in the set menu. The plating and aesthetic of the food was top notch and super instagrammable. If you're looking for a Parisian cafe with good vibes, I recommend coming here! read more

What a good spot to try if this is your first time in Paris! They offer a pretty big menu and they have soooo many options for everyone. The server was so nice and quick! The service itself was so fast too from when ordering and getting your food and drinks. The ambiance is so cute and it's actually a pretty big cafe it's just really busy all the time. Make sure if you come; you have patience to wait in the big lines! I would totally come back and try some more items. I had the baguette and it was fresh and crispy and loved it! Carette is very popular on social media right now. I feel like everyone I know who's gone to Paris had brunch here at least once. Location-wise, it's right off Trocadero station exit. It's across the viewing point of the Eiffel tower so it is a little bit touristy, just a disclaimer. I went on a weekday breakfast so it wasn't as busy yet! The staff was lovely and attentive. I got their pan au chocolat and large coffee with milk. I should've gotten the cappuccino if I didn't scrimp on one less Euro, lol. I wish they had their almond croissant that day because I was looking forward to it the most! They had other several pastries on hand and the chocolate croissant was text-book good. I was also craving something savory so I got one of their jamon tea sandwiches which was pretty good. I brought home 9 pcs of the small macarons and one of the bigger ones. They're all packaged beautifully and the small ones came to about €2.50/piece. Pretty standard! I still have my favorite macaron place than Carette but it was still a good option to bring home. read more

Worth it for the extremely rich, decadent hot chocolate and instagrammable vibes. If you choose to sit inside you'll cut your wait time in more than half. It's an experience and one I recommend if you're on holiday. Staff was friendly but no nonsense, they are like well oiled machines, very efficient. read more

This is very close to the Eiffel Tower. It's a beautiful cafe. I enjoyed the hot chocolate, cakes, and finger sandwiches. It does get busy! As an American, the desserts back home are very sweet. I was surprised and thoroughly enjoyed having hot chocolate that was rich, but not in sugar, and it was the same with the desserts. read more
Arguably one of the most popular hot chocolate places around Paris! The thing to get is the hot chocolate. Super rich, perfect temperature, and sweet enough but not too thick or u drinkable. Just alittle bit of whipped cream make it delicious and creamy. I'd skip out on the food and even the croissant and come for just the hot chocolate on a cold day ! Lines could be fun but they have lots of indoor and outdoor seating (although eh prepared to be crammed with other people in small places) read more

If you go to Trocadéro to see the Eiffel Tower from above. This is the place to go beforehand for breakfast or afternoon tea. There will be a long line if you do not mind waiting also you do not have to mind people smoking around you. If you sit outside, you will be people watching and it's very interesting. Service is a bear. However, the coffee hot chocolate, the food is good. I love their coffee and hot chocolate with the whip cream. I always order the club sandwich, which is big and they can be shared. Their finger sandwiches are the best however, you will pray twice or triple as much. If you order it inside the restaurant but it's a good buy if you're going away on plane (which I always do, if an afternoon flight ) or a train ride to somewhere to snack on or simply having a picnic somewhere. Sometimes the scrambled eggs be a runny or under cooked which is not agreeable to the American palette, tell them you do not want it runny, They may look at you funny, but that's French for you. If your first time in Paris like Le Relais de l'Entrecôte (make sure you go the the correct one bit the fake one) this is a must. read more
We were able to obtain seating under the canopy on a raining afternoon. The temperature was mild so it was comfortable to be outside. The staff were friendly and helpful. The chocolat Carette was accompanied by a large and delicious serving of whipped cream. The chocolate was smooth, creamy and rich. I enjoyed it plain and with the cream. The single serving size was generous, with about two additional pours available in the pot, after the initial pour. The chocolate paired well with the pain au chocolat, which was flaky with a rich chocolate interior. The tea sandwiches were delicate and tasty. We could have had a few more but the chocolate Carette was pretty filling. Delicious! read more

Instagram led us here, and my family and I had a delightful brunch. It was packed on a Saturday and we waited in line for about 15-20 minutes. I got the express breakfast with the mini pastries and coffee, and it was delightful as expected! The star of the show, however, was the club sandwich! It was filled with meat and tasted so fresh. A very popular spot I've been hearing in Paris mainly because of their hot chocolate so I had to give it a try! And it simply did not disappoint! The chocolate was so rich and tasted sweeter with the whipped cream stirred in. My boyfriend and I came by on a weekday evening and we're seated fairly quick but sadly, we were not able to try their croissants/chocolate croissants as they were already sold out. So we opted for other pastries which were not bad, but felt the experience would've been five stars if we were able to complete the experience with their infamous croissants. Nonetheless, still a great spot and would check out again if I ever visit Paris again! read more
I want to this location with a group of my friends and was not disappointed. I initially went to try the hot chocolate but when we arrived, we learned that they had a brunch menu that included breakfast items and the hot chocolate for about €30. There was a long line outside so if you are pressed for time, I recommend going early in the morning so that you could beat the lions but don't wait was bearable even if you go later during the day. We were seated inside and received really great service- food was phenomenal, and the hot chocolate is really the BEST hot chocolate. It was very thick, rich with flavor, and creamy. It is served in a small kettle so you get multiple servings. I highly recommend this location. It is definitely worth the hype!! read more
