Carette is a cute cafe, but I think it's a bit overhyped on social media. We tried their famous hot chocolate it was rich, falvorful and delicious, but a little too sweet for my taste. The chocolate croissant was absolutely amazing and one of my favorite things we ordered. We also got the avocado toast, which ended up being our favorite dish. There was a line to get in, but it moved pretty quickly, so the wait wasn't bad. The only downside was that the staff could have been a bit friendlier. Overall, it's worth visiting for the pastries and the atmosphere.
We waited for 15 minutes in line. The cafe was packed full house. The service was slow because they're busy. Our waiter was helpful though. I enjoyed all that i ordered. Best desserts in Paris! The hot chocolate is lovely, still a bit too sweet for me.
Carette is a must-visit in Paris! The ambiance is beautiful and the service is great. While you should definitely expect a long line to get in, don't let that scare you away. The wait is completely worth it for the delicious food and experience!
Carette is a cool spot for a hot chocolate as you get a large amount of hot chocolate and a side of fresh made whipped cream to go with it for about 13 euros. I had a mimosa also which was 20 euros (too much). There is a long wait for a table at Carette as it's become very popular thanks to Tik Tok and IG. We stood in light for about 30 minutes. The staff does a great job of keeping things moving as quickly as possible, but they can only do so much as people are relaxed while enjoying their hot chocolate and treats. We noticed several tables around us getting strawberries and cream which looked amanzing but the price of this was not listed anywhere in the menu so we opted to not be sticker shocked any further (a-hem 20 euros for one glass of mimosa). Ultimately, Carette offers delicious hot chocolate and it's great to say that you went there, but I can't imagine having hot chocolate in 90 degree farenheit weather outside, after standing in line for 30 minutes, but do you boo! When in Paris...
Fun, delicious experience. We enjoyed sitting outside and our server was lovely. We had the ham& cheese quiche, apple pastry, hot chocolate and orange juice. Everything was amazing!
While I was visiting the Eiffel Tower, I had a craving for some hot chocolate and, luckily, Carette was right around the corner. I arrived around 11 a.m. on a Monday and there was already a short line of about 10 people waiting on the sidewalk. The line grew quickly as the 30-degree weather had everyone looking for warmth and a hot drink. I only ended up waiting about 10 minutes before being seated, which wasn't bad at all. I ordered the specialty hot chocolate, which came with a huge portion of whipped cream on the side. It was a bit pricey at €13.50, but you do get multiple servings of hot chocolate in your own personal carafe. Overall, the hot chocolate itself was very good and definitely hit the spot on a cold day!
The service was great and the food was delicious. The famous hot chocolate was delicious! The Chantilly cream really went with my hot chocolate and my chocolate crepes. I will be craving that until I go back. It's a must try if you are ever in Paris. I had the toast Carrette. A must try. If you are not that hungry you can share this with someone. I was saving room for the hot chocolate and the chocolate crepes. I love the Chantilly cream. We went to the Trocadero because we just visited the Eiffel Tower! Great place to eat after visiting the Eiffel Tower. 10/10 would recommend !
A must visit location when you are in Paris. Right across the street from Trocadero, the location is perfect. Close to subway stations and offers indoor or outdoor seating. The ambiance and service of Carette are top notch. The food and drinks are to be explored. There's so much to try and 1 or 2 visits are not enough. Their signature hot chocolate with cream is a must try. Omelettes are made to order with toppings of your choice. The dessert selection is crazy and a treat for both your eyes and taste buds. Definitely not a cheap place to dine but totally worth the price you pay. Highly recommend Carette and hope to visit again.
Cool experience coming and trying this really rich hot chocolate with Cream and some of the best strawberries you'll ever have. Don't think they're worth 21 euros lol. Hot chocolate experience for two with strawberries was 63 EUR... worth it no but delish yes haha
Incredible spot near the Eiffel Tower (and the best hot chocolate ever) Carette near the Eiffel Tower was a standout. Sitting so close to one of Paris' most iconic landmarks already feels special, but the hot chocolate, honestly the best in the world. Rich, smooth, and unforgettable. The pastries and food were excellent, and being just a short walk from the tower makes it the perfect stop before or after exploring (or burning off a few calories). The only downside: the experience felt a bit rushed, but that's Paris during peak hours. Still absolutely worth it for the quality and the location. Would definitely return.
I cannot say enough positive things about our experience here. The staff were all amazing. It was very busy but as soon as we walked up, we were acknowledged and shown to a seat within a few minutes. Our waitress was so nice and accommodating. She explained everything to us about the "viral, trending hot chocolate" which we thoroughly enjoyed! We even got some goodies to-go! You can't go wrong stopping here! Everything tasted amazing and fresh! The restaurant was lively and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Can't wait to visit again!

So we never made it to Angelina's but this was the number two hot chocolate spot in Paris. It did not disappoint at all. We were greeted and we're still full from dinner and told them we would be back, and the manager remembered us and took us right away to a seat inside asked us where we were from and extremely kind. The gentleman was originally from Ireland so he spoke perfect English as well as fluent French of course. It is a beautiful restaurant with many tables and very crowded outside for the location very close to the Eiffel Tower. The hot chocolate was exquisite. You can tell the difference of a homemade dark hot chocolate and the homemade cream was simply delicious. It's hard to say anything other than it was amazing and I would definitely come back. If you come to Paris definitely go.

Prepared for the long tourists line! Must try hot chocolate. Tips: Get the combo for hot chocolate, a juice, a croissant and some toast for 20 euros as opposed to one cup of hot chocolate for 11 euros. The hot chocolate was sooo good by itself without the cream. Cream was very good too. Croissants and chocolate croissants are average. I would return to have the hot chocolate again when I'm in Paris! read more

Thee best hot chocolate I've ever had!! This place is worth all the hype. So rich and creamy and chocolaty... Yumm! It's such a cute place too not far from the Eiffel Tower and other main attractions. Our waitress was super friendly and attentive - so wonderful. We will be back again before we leave Paris!! read more

I waited in line for 45 minutes to be seated and I have zero regrets. In fact, I would've waited longer if I had to because Carette was one of my favorite experiences while in Paris. When my friend and I were seated at a table, our server was very friendly and welcoming. We ordered the famous Carette hot chocolate for two, crepes, and some of their macarons. When everything was brought to our table, our server placed everything so delicately, before pouring hot chocolate from the kettle into each of our teacups. It was picturesque, and such an exemplary level of service. Once I tried the hot chocolate, it was love at first sip. I had never in my life had a hot chocolate that was as creamy and delicious as this one. Then there's the whipped cream which was absolute perfection. The crepes and macarons were also delicious, but the true winner was the hot chocolate. If you plan to visit Carette, be prepared for a long line, but know that it's very much worth it! There is typically not a long line or wait for takeaway, you can walk right in and order at the counter in the back. I returned the following day to order a hot chocolate with whipped cream for my stroll around Paris and it was just as delicious as the dine-in one. I would highly recommend adding Carette to your Paris itinerary, you might end up like me and be back again within 24 hours! read more
WOW! A Paris favorite that is 100% worth the hype. If you like chocolate/hot chocolate, Carette is definitely worth a stop. I will say that it's a little pricey, but Paris is an expensive city and Carette is popular for a reason. We got the hot chocolate, the chantilly, and a croissant each to dip. It was a GREAT breakfast and a great way to start off the day as a tourist. I don't really think anything else on the menu is worth it besides the hot chocolate. read more
Years ago I gave this restaurant 5 stars. The eggs were delicious! However, this time, we both ordered the scrambled eggs and they were lacking the love they once possessed. No broiled Parmesan like the past and very bland. Super expensive too! $30 for a serving of scrambled eggs is outrageous. read more

A TikTok find that didn't disappoint!!! There was a long line to get in but it moved pretty quickly. We weren't able to get a seat outside but the inside was cute too. I ordered the hot chocolate and a croissant and it was absolutely DELICIOUS!!! I'm not normally a huge hot chocolate fan but this was perfection! The hot chocolate on its own was really good but something about the whipped cream mixed in with the hot chocolate that just made it even better. And dipping the croissant in it was chefs kiss! Honestly, I'd only come here for the hot chocolate and pastries. Don't plan on eating here because it is quite pricey. For example, plain scrambled eggs were 16€. However, the views and proximity to the Eiffel Tower lookout point is ideal and it's the perfect morning run before you start the day. I'm honestly still craving this hot chocolate so 10/10 recommend! read more

If you like dark chocolate you will love the hot chocolate. I don't, so I didn't. Whipped cream was good though and waiter was kind. Overall wouldn't return, but it was a decent stop on a chilly night. read more

The hot chocolate experience alone is enough to come here. It's so rich and the ability to customize how you want to have it using the whip is amazing. They have so many pastries and desserts to choose from as well as meals if you're hungry. It was too bad they ran out of croissants when we were there. Service was quick and efficient. They were definitely busy but continued to hustle through the kitchen to get everything delivered to everyone. It was a longer wait to sit outside. Very Parisian to people watch outside while enjoying your dining experience. We opted to sit inside because we didn't mind, so we got seated pretty quickly. I definitely think this is a spot more popular among tourists but if you're going there's so many locations it can definitely still be on your list of places to check out. read more

I always end up ordering the carette salad. It's honestly so delicious every single time. I do get the iconic hot chocolate and cream each time too. Which honestly is a lot. You can alwayssss share an order of whipped cream with two or three people for your hot chocolates. The service is typical for a packed restaurant in a tourist area, it's alright. They are usually very nice to me, but they tend to treat you how you treat them :) The ambiance is really nice outside if the weather permits. Lots of tables but typically there is a long line outside (that goes pretty quickly) to receive a table. read more

£18.50 for their special combo of a hot chocolate or tea with either 4 macaroons or 1 pastry from a selection between certain hours (until 8pm) was worth the price for the environment, spread, and tourist trap factor. The desserts are branded and the chocolate is decadent. After having another cafe's hot chocolate, I can tell that the one at Carette is much creamier plus they serve whipped cream on the side. Be ready to wait in line if you want to sit outside, otherwise, we got to sit inside with no wait time around lunch time on a Tuesday. read more
About a 15 to 20 minute wait early in the morning for people clamoring to eat breakfast, get some yummy pastries and drink their delicious hot chocolate. The croissant was nice and flaky. A must when in Paris! This location has a million dollar view of the Eiffel tower while sipping the most delicious chocolate milk you'll ever taste. The croissant was the best version we tasted in Paris. Sooo buttery, flaky on the outside but moist on the inside. If only the lines are not too long I would have eaten here everyday. They are probably the busiest cafe in Paris but their service is straightforward. Order what you like and when you're done you have to call them. The waiters will not come to you after they serve you your order so be prepared to let them know everything you need when they approach you. read more
The hot chocolate and the whipped cream are pretty delicious, as well as the little puff things that come with the hot chocolate. Minus 1 star for the price point - it is quite expensive - you don't get that much hot chocolate and also the tea sandwiches were pretty tiny. They tasted good but not much inside them and expensive for such a small little half sandwich. read more
A friend recommended this place. My husband and I came here after seeing the Eiffel Tower. There seems to always be a long line halfway down the block. I commend the host and hostess for trying to get groups seated efficiently even in pouring rain. It's definitely crowded with little space but the hot chocolate and pastries are worth the wait. I've never had such rich hot chocolate before. It's definitely a must when in Paris. I really liked my husbands crepe with strawberries ! read more
I heard this was the place to go to for hot chocolate from multiple sources, so I decided this was where we had to go! Needed redemption from the subpar hot chocolate we had at cafe dupleix, so we decided to go here after visiting the Eiffel Tower (~15 min by bus). We got seated inside, where there was a nice (but cramped) ambiance. We ordered the Vienese hot chocolate and a hazelnut pastry, which was so good! I forgot what it was called so I'll post a picture of it. The hot chocolate was okay, but I thought it was a bit overrated. The first cup was amazing but I honestly did not need 3 servings of it. It was super thick and sweet, so we were over it after the first cup. Tip: If you want to try their croissants, go there early. I tried to order a croissant around 8PM but they told me they run out of those in the mornings read more

The location and familiarity of this landmark location are the reason this place is popular. The pastries are lovely, but $27 Eu for a basic chicken sandwich was ridiculous and the sandwich was nothing to remember. Try the hot chocolate for fun, but skip lunch- it is grossly over priced. Many other beautiful and delicious options with more reasonable prices all around the area. read more
This place lives up to the hype! Very busy, so be prepared for some prompt service and potentially a wait time. No reservations that I am aware of, so be patient as it's worth the wait. We got the croissant, a few macaroons and of course the famous hot chocolate! As a person who doesn't love chocolate, this was absolutely incredible. The chocolate is so dense and rich, yet not overwhelming at the same time. Pair that with the REAL whipped crème and you've got a masterpiece. Very cute, upscale and regal place for a coffee! Very seldom does a place live up to the hype, but this place's hot chocolate absolutely did! Thick, rich, creamy, sweet, decadent...all the things. One pot is enough for 2 people. We went in January too, so it was absolute perfection to have it on a freezing day. And we went twice on our trip! We also enjoyed their array desserts and I tried the ham and cheese omelet which I found pretty good but overly expensive. Anyway, go for the hot chocolate! read more

Went for breakfast before we left the city (we were staying very close) and we were not disappointed by the food. For close to €50 it is a little pricey, but you do get a slight view of the Eiffel Tower (a new building for the olympics blocks a lot of the view) In North America, this would be a $30 brekkie, but ambience and TikTok mean that the price is going to be a little higher. Food quality was excellent, the chocolat chaud was really good (called almost bitter by my companion) and very much a dark chocolate flavour. I'd recommend a visit, but with so many choices for brasseries in the Trocadéro space? I will continue to try other spots for those experiences too read more
A cup of liquid chocolate is one of those treats that sounds better in theory than in reality. It was rich and creamy, and personally enjoyed more as a dipping sauce for some fantastic French bread than a beverage. The scrambled eggs were a bit salty and didn't impress much. read more
This is a great pastries place for my daughter to have dessert, coffee or chocolate after a cold day in January taking pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris on the platform of Parvis Des Libertee et des Droits. It's about 3 minutes walk from there. There are quite a few of these Carette restaurants around, but this one seems to be the most crowded one because it's close the place you can see the Eiffel Tower and next to many coffeeshops. The chocolate in here my daughter said it's the best anywhere but she actually like the atmosphere here. Very young and very friendly IMO. The kids feel right at home. The prices are quite reasonable on some and more expensive on other. 12 euro for a hot chocolate that my daughter is raving about? a little too much for my taste. There are quite many little pastries and cakes desserts, they also make sandwiches many people enjoy. We came here twice because my daughter liked it. The waiters here are quite friendly, attentive and open, everyone seems to love them. I liked them too. I only have coffee came with little cookies and my daughter tried anything she liked, crepes, cake, coffee. My wife ordered a hot and spicy drink which I liked too, especially in the cold. The first one was great, the second time was short of liquor as she claimed. So it wasn't consistent. Anyhow, it's a great place to sit and talk about the day, because it's quite noisy in here. You can talk and laugh as loud as you want and you won't bother anyone at all, that's the great thing about this coffeeshop. Quite popular I heard. We visited Carette on our recent visit to Paris and had wonderful experience. It's located a few blocks from our hotel and next to Trocadero which was awesome. We arrived just before the breakfast rush and got seated immediately. The highlight for me was their hot chocolate and croissant, which was delicious. Their signature hot chocolate was rich and really flavorful, aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It comes with whopping side of whipped cream, adding an extra layer of lusciousness. The croissant was crisp and flaky. Perfect companion for dipping into the hot chocolate...truly yummy pairing indeed. Each bite bursting with flavor. We ordered it as combo which came with orange juice, toast and scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and on point. It was the perfect Parisian breakfast and great start to our Paris Vacation. Extremely long line to get seated that went pretty quick. We ordered the hot chocolate with the whipping cream, and French onion soup. Both items were excellent. Service was exceptionally quick as they were getting people in and out to turn those table around. This place is killing it. Tik tok raved about this place and we were skeptical. We would do it again when we return to Paris. The only negative was they crammed the tables so close together, I kept getting bumped with the other customers passing by as well as the wait staff. The whole experience felt rushed and stressful but as far as the product, they nailed it. The wait staff was hustling and working hard, the longest wait was the line to get in. It was a cute cafe, but busy and hectic. Don't check it out to relax, just go for the hot chocolate and carry on with your itinerary. read more

Ordered their famous hot chocolate, which was very good.. but too rich, so I only had 1 cup. Their scrambled eggs were OK... just OK. I absolutely adored this cute cafe in Paris, located close to touristy spots like the Eiffel Tower and Trocadero. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. We came around 11:00am for some brunch and there was a bit of a line but the wait wasn't too long at all! We opted for the indoor seating so we could get seated quicker - seems like more people are interested in outdoor dining! The indoor interior was so cute and very beautiful. We got a waitress who was so sweet, and though our French was super limited, she was fluent in English which made the whole experience so much easier! Their menu also has English translation which is so helpful haha - no need for google translate yay!! We ended up ordering one of their brunch set menus for both me and my partner. It was 36 euros, which is more expensive than some of the other cafes we went to in Paris. However, it is kind of more so a tourist hotspot which might be why it was more expensive. I still thought it was worth it given how much the set came with and also the fact that the presentation was so beautiful. The scrambled eggs were by far some of the best eggs we've had - super creamy and fluffy! We also really enjoyed the hot chocolate which was super rich. You do have to order the whipped cream separately because it doesn't come with the hot chocolate in the set menu. The plating and aesthetic of the food was top notch and super instagrammable. If you're looking for a Parisian cafe with good vibes, I recommend coming here! read more

Great place to eat! The hot chocolate is the best I've ever had, especially with creme. No wonder why it's gone viral on the internet. It's worth a visit and the servers were very kind here. Nice place to eat in after seeing the Eiffel Tower across the street! read more

Carette is very popular on social media right now. I feel like everyone I know who's gone to Paris had brunch here at least once. Location-wise, it's right off Trocadero station exit. It's across the viewing point of the Eiffel tower so it is a little bit touristy, just a disclaimer. I went on a weekday breakfast so it wasn't as busy yet! The staff was lovely and attentive. I got their pan au chocolat and large coffee with milk. I should've gotten the cappuccino if I didn't scrimp on one less Euro, lol. I wish they had their almond croissant that day because I was looking forward to it the most! They had other several pastries on hand and the chocolate croissant was text-book good. I was also craving something savory so I got one of their jamon tea sandwiches which was pretty good. I brought home 9 pcs of the small macarons and one of the bigger ones. They're all packaged beautifully and the small ones came to about €2.50/piece. Pretty standard! I still have my favorite macaron place than Carette but it was still a good option to bring home. read more

Stopped in while passing through. The atmosphere is very nice. Our waitress spoke english. It was difficult to decide what to eat but we had quiche and herbal tea. My friends had pastries as well. I recommend this place if you are ever in the area. They take American Express read more

Worth it for the extremely rich, decadent hot chocolate and instagrammable vibes. If you choose to sit inside you'll cut your wait time in more than half. It's an experience and one I recommend if you're on holiday. Staff was friendly but no nonsense, they are like well oiled machines, very efficient. read more

On our trip to Paris we did lots of research to visit and enjoy some cafes. This spot popped up multiple times in our search. I was pleasantly surprised on the experience here. Yes, it's very popular so there was a long line to get seated. However, the line went by very quickly. When ordering, food and drinks came out quickly. Their famous hot chocolate is a must to order, just for the experience! The crepes and the salmon/truffle eggs were also incredible. It was very busy inside so it was quite noisy but we don't mind this at all! Will definitely be back on our next trip here. read more
