A little bit of heaven
Sam W.

Hands down one of the best chocolates I have ever had. I came with a friend who comes here every time she is in Paris and she ordered for me. Great store front with friendly service and something for everyone.

Sylvia W.

It merits really a 3.5 but I can't round up and say I'm a fan, as a locavore I enjoy non chains, but, since I was in the neighborhood for a museum, I couldn't resist introducting the kid to Lenôtre and explaining its role in French history/culture. Variety, quality and presentation come at cost, so, yeah read on for the why... Man oh man, to see the macarons on offer was an eye popper. So many delicious varieties let alone the price- never seen them sold by the weight, let alone the sticker shock of 77€ per kilo (roughly $46.66USD/lb fyi) Got a few to try and they went down my gullet easy enough. Their sundried tomatoe pesto tartlet looked pretty and tasted fresh made. I gotta admit, for the neighborhood they're in, they do have a monopoly. It's a business area and I had to ask the local florist for a bakery. She had to ask her coworker who gave me the directions to this place, after a 5 min discussion on where a bakery was. I noticed the window displays first. French are known for doing wonderful window displays and this place, again, their presentation at a cost, is for a reason. Everything in the display was just too cute. :)

I went to a dinner party and although I did not visit this shop, the host purchased a cake from here and it was simply magnificent!

Angelina, Paris, France -- April 12…read more Our family of four with kids ages 9 and 10 stopped here for lunch after visiting the Louvre, drawn in by its reputation for having the best hot chocolate in the world. We were looking for a place to relax and refuel, and the experience felt a bit mixed overall. Arrival and First Impressions The space is elegant with classic Parisian charm. The line moved quickly, and we were seated with a great view of the dining room. It felt refined but still comfortable. The Highlights The famous hot chocolate lived up to expectations, thick, rich, and almost more like a dessert than a drink. We also had French onion soup and an éclair, both of which were very good. The pastries were clearly well made and thoughtfully prepared. The kids had chicken tenders, which they enjoyed, even though the tomato sauce was a bit different from what they expected. The Challenges The biggest drawback was the price. The meal felt expensive for what we ordered, coming in at €154 for a fairly simple lunch. Service felt slightly rushed as they moved tables along quickly. Final Thoughts We would likely return if we were nearby and specifically craving the hot chocolate again. It is a classic Paris stop and worth trying once, but the value may not justify going out of your way unless that signature experience is high on your list.

It really tastes like melted chocolate with a bit of milk mixed in to make it more drinkable. We went at a bit of an off time, late morning and it wasn't overly busy. We saw our server once and I couldn't recall who he was when it came time to get the bill. I asked a hostess walking by for our check and she told me to ask our server while walking away. We were able to flag another server down eventually but the whole process just took too long. The tables for four have chairs that don't quite tuck in causing for a bit awkward seating. If you like really thick hot chocolate, give it a try but otherwise ok to miss this one. Plenty of good hot chocolate throughout the city.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.

Pierre Hermé If you…read moreknow Pierre Hermé from social media and all the viral videos, then this review needs no introduction. But if you haven't, this is a strong contender for worthy macarons in Paris and at a convenient location across the street from Ladurée. Located inside L'Occitane in the most gorgeous floor space ever, you will find Pierre Hermé at the center of it all. They have an impressive array of flavors that were much more unique than other patisseries. I definitely asked for a few recommendations as well since I tend to order the same thing (pistachio, raspberry, lemon, etc.) The workers were very kind. They indulged my request to converse in French and corrected me in a respectful and endearing way (I know some people get upset at this idea but I personally prefer it.) I had ordered a dozen macarons but truthfully would've ordered the entire lot if I wasn't alone and especially if I wasn't already taking a ton of sweets back for my flight home. I am a Ladurée purist and what I can say is that Pierre Hermé definitely had the best and most unique flavors compared to the two. The prices are fairly comparable and the coffrets are just as tasteful. Both are strong contenders and worthy of your money. I certainly will be returning and look forward to trying the rest of their selection. (15/50--2025)

Pierre Hermé is home to some of the best macarons I've had in my life -- which is probably too many for the good of my health -- and I was thoroughly impressed by the quality of the macarons, the staff's attention to detail, and all the unique flavors this shop had to offer. As a popular macaron shop in one of the hottest tourist destinations in Paris, this location is undeniably crowded. There's usually a huge line circling around a central display of macaron after macaron. The line looks pretty intimidating, but it moves quite quickly, and there are so many flavors that it'll probably be helpful to have a bit of extra time to review the menu. My friend and I split a pack of four macarons, including their seasonal isapahan (rose, lychee, raspberry), infiniment praliné pistache, and a jardin de cassandre (red currant, rhubarb). The macarons were delightful. I loved the two seasonal items; they were delightfully fruity and slightly floral, and I loved the slightly tangy flavor from the raspberry in the isapahan and rhubarb / currants in the jardin de cassandre. The praliné pistache was nice and nutty, and the inner cream offered a great additional richness. It's usually super crowded so seating tends to be quite limited. My friend and I ended up taking our macarons to go and enjoyed them elsewhere as we toured Champs Elysée.

The tea shop on the second floor is absolutely adorable and really should be on any pastry-lover's bucket list (ditto if you are into tea houses). Calm, refined, and civilized, it embodies everything that "tea" should be. Mom ordered a pot of tea and she deemed it delicious (she is often disappointed by hot tea--it is rare that we find an establishment that makes it properly). I ordered the hot chocolate with chantilly, and it filled me with mirth. (Warning: it is a dessert unto itself. This is not the insipid cocoa that comes from powder in an envelope. Imagine a cup of chocolate truffle, and you are about right.) We both ordered the plaisir sucrée, and now I need to go back to Paris to take a pastry class. Definitely come here for a special treat tea.

They had quite a few options when I went with some interesting flavors, so there's a good amount to choose from. I was not disappointed by it, and would definitely go back to try out more! Overall, if you want to try Macarons in Paris this should be one of the places to try them out at for sure!

Or maybe I was just lucky. Anyways I found Drops here as well so I ended up getting one of those. I also got a croque monsieur, a croissant and a citron pastry(?). I think I'll need to just refer to everything here as a pastry because I don't know how to classify them. Anyways everything was so good. Their croissant was very different than the first place that I went to. The one here had a super crisp to the outside. As for their citron pastry, it was one of those fancy looking desserts essentially. It was also a citrus bomb and wasn't overly sweet. The croque monsieur was a tad over done, but that's to be expected when it comes essentially pre made then reheated. There was a long line forming when I first got there but it moved so fast . It was so fast to the point where I didn't feel comfortable asking questions to trying to check the whole display. The line basically wraps around a rounded display counter so you can't see everything at the same time. I was at the start of the counter when someone came to take my order so I didn't get a good chance to see much before I ordered. The line was also moving so fast that I couldn't really slow things down to get a good look before I had ordered. Keep that in mind if you come. It wasn't until I got to the register when I saw the croissants and drops again. Luckily they let me add them just before paying. Keep in mind that there is no seating area or tables to eat on either.

The prices seemed reasonable and the staff spoke English. There's really no place to sit, so we took it to go and ate on the steps in front of the museum, watching birds and people. I'd definitely have gone back if we were staying longer.
