Flan is sooo goid here.

There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the USofA. And a very few MEXICAN Mexican restaurants. Amparo's is the real thing: they make their own everything, including several kinds of salsa, tortillas, and drinks like Horchata (made with melon seeds, rice, other stuff - Google it). Their chile relleno was delicious, nothing like Chi-chis, with cheese that was good but didn't overpower the chili pepper. I had Birria, a beef and cheese combination, grilled between housemade corn tortillas. And for dessert I add my praises for the flan: dense not too sweet, fantastic. Oh and the prices (some reviewer complained on Yelp. you gotta be kidding me.) Our big plates of great food (we took leftovers home) cost us around $25 apiece. Please try this place and experience great actual Mexican food.

Birria Tacos

The BEST tacos and atmosphere ever. I HIGHLY recommend. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. The staff is amazing and they treat you like family the minute you walk in. The tacos were the best I've ever had. Get the birria tacos!!

Chicken Enchiladas

What a great experience! My wife and I stopped by this lovely restaurant on our way home and were blown away by the hospitality from the owner and his family. The food was phenomenal, and we highly recommend the Chicken Enchiladas!

Quesabirria plate

11/10. I have had a craving for birria tacos and have been here before so I knew they would not disappoint my craving! It was hot and fresh, perfect for the cold weather. The quesadilla was handmade and so delicious. I was given three different types of salsa: mango, pineapple, and verde. The family that owns Amparo's is so sweet and provides great service. They have a menu with a wide variety and it all looks so good. The place is quaint and very cute. I will be back again! Give this place a try for authentic Mexican food and you will not be disappointed :)

How do you say amazing 100 times over. I've lived almost 15 years of my life between Las Vegas and Arizona- both of which have incredible Mexican food...well look no further Chattanoogans... if you want AUTHENTIC Mexican... here is YOUR PLACE! From homemade Mexican honey habanero sauce to an enchilada that looked GOURMET- this is your spot! We ordered the Chile relleno, authentic enchilada, and had a few modelos-and it was FANTASTIC! Don't forget the flan on your way out. This is a very gourmet, authentic, boutique style restaurant...it doesn't fit many as it's a little small but GREAT things come in small packages! Thank you so much to the owners! We will be back!!

We tried this out after seeing the other reviews on Yelp, and it definitely did not disappoint. The place is small, but it was clean and the outdoor seating was very pleasant. We started with two "pineapple waters" which are fresh pineapple with water added. This was very refreshing and delicious. We ordered the large which were expensive at $7 each, but they were enormous. This was nice on a hot day but a regular would have been more than enough. We ordered two barria tacos, a pork tamale, and the carne asada. All were excellent and good sized portions. If we were local, this would definitely be a staple restaurant in our rotation.

Milk & Honey is known as the best of the best for brunch in Chattanooga, and after eating here I…read morestand by that statement. I remember back in the day when Milk & Honey had late hours. One time my parents and I came here after dinner for their gelato, and it was so delicious. We were all very impressed with the consistency and how smooth it was. So I've only had their gelato after all these years. This time I came for brunch with a friend on Sunday morning. It was packed and we got on the waiting list for a table. Wait time wasn't too bad actually. My friend and I both ordered the Hodgepodge Hash and I subbed the sausage for chicken sausage. Everything was absolutely amazing. I wish I had come here sooner. I loved everything about my meal. It was flavorful, dynamic, full of texture. It had that spice from the serrano peppers, crispy and flavorful potatoes, and the sauce tied it all together. I love savory breakfast, and that was it. Now I'm hungry and missing my previous meal just writing about it haha. Afterwards, we got gelato! I was pleasantly surprised that the gelato came with two scoops because I originally just wanted the coffee flavored one. So I had a scoop of Coffee + Cream and Pistachio. Our gelato was so tasty. I love anything coffee so this one was good, and the Pistachio one was nice and light. It had a subtle Pistachio creamy taste. Just as before, the gelato was smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. Service was great, our waiter was very friendly and super helpful with our food preferences. I have no complaints at all about our experience, and I love every single thing we ordered. I can't imagine a better place to spend Sunday brunch. I look forward to the next time I'm back, thank you!

Please take this review with a grain of salt. Today was probably not an exemplary day for Milk &…read moreHoney. Mother's Days are challenging, but I think where they hurt themselves the most is that they do not have a method to take reservations or even call ahead seating. Wait times were often in excess of an hour listening to other people waiting to be seated. That's a horrible experience on its face, and the management of this restaurant needs to do much much better or just close on Mother's Day. Next, we'll get to the food. I doubt it was a shining example of what they are capable of. I got the Shakshuka and it was mediocre. I'm not expecting it to be as good as what I would get in Tel Aviv, and I've had the real thing in Tel Aviv. But to be honest, the eggs came out nearly hard-boiled not poached. And the eggs are one of the stars of the show for this dish. If you don't get them right, the entire dish fails. Next will touch on the chicken and waffles. The observation from my tablemate was that it was dry and he didn't even eat it all. The same thing can be said for my other tablemate who had the chicken biscuit. The biscuit was exemplary, but the chicken was dry and actually overcooked. Then there were the omelettes, I don't believe they were impressive in any way and the people that ordered them agree. For those of us at the table that ordered coffee, it was rather strong. I normally like strong coffee, but this was borderline Turkish coffee, and there wasn't enough cream available to mask the potency. The service was also stretched thin. Our server, Destiny, did her best, but she was waiting too many tables. Having once been a waitermyself I have a special affinity for Service staff who are asked to do too much. We left her a good tip, but I'm sure she is capable of much better service than what she was allowed to deliver. Finally, the overwhelming crowd made the restaurant feel claustrophobic. The noise level was far too high, and we could barely hear one another at our table and we were sitting very close to one another. I don't place the blame on the kitchen, staff, or the wait staff, or even the greeters. This was a fail of management, plain and simple. They made no contingency plans for that many people and should have anticipated a larger crowd on Mother's Day. Management -I challenge you to do better!!! We will come back during a normal Service day to see if you can perform better, but I encourage you, as owners and managers, to stop setting your staff up for failure, which is what you did!

Best restaurant in Chattanooga…read more Long post alert! If you don't want to read it all, here's what you need to know: * Spectacular authentic New Orleanian cuisine * Deliciously inventive cocktails * Top notch service with genuine, kind people My family and I went to Neutral Ground today for brunch. We have been extremely cautious about going to restaurants since the pandemic hit, and this was probably only the 6th time we've sat down in a restaurant since this all started. We called on our way to see if we needed reservations to sit outside (still haven't sat inside since last May). They said no, and when we pulled up, we saw that they had already set up the table for us, complete with a small fire pit to keep us warm. They are very careful about COVID. Everyone is required to wear a mask, temp checks at the door, and they take your first name and number for contact tracing, all of which was very appreciated. The ambiance is very trendy, kind of like a modern take on a high end 60s bar. Excellent drink menu as well, and they are happy to make anything for you. Ok, the food. We ordered the standard breakfast for our three kids, which consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, smoky bacon and creamy grits. The staff went ahead and split up the meal evenly on three small plates, and it was more than enough for them. My kids are fairly picky eaters, and they are every bite! If you have small kids, you know how rare that is! Speaking of kids, the restaurant is very kid friendly. My wife got the breakfast sandwich, which had spicy sausage and eggs on an English muffin served with plantain and sweet potato chips. It was amazing! The sausage tasted slightly like chorizo, but with a flavor all its own. I ordered the catfish and grits (pictured), and it was perfect. The catfish tenders were fried perfectly; crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The grits were fluffy and creamy with a melt in your mouth sauce on top. All garnished with thinly sliced fresh jalapeños to give it an extra depth of flavor and spice. SO GOOD. We got some apple cider donuts and strawberry hand pies for dessert and both were truly great. The donuts were soft and sweet, while the pies were flaky and light. What the chef is doing at Neutral Ground is extremely unique in Chattanooga: his food is authentic to New Orleans, yet he makes it his own. This is the third time I've eaten here, and the first time we have all sat down in the restaurant. We love many of the restaurants in town, but in my opinion this one can't be beat for its combination of service, ambiance and food.

It was all so delicious and AUTHENTIC. The Gulf Shrimp Salad was the appetizer I was least excited about but ended up enjoying the most! Super fresh and light. The Bahn-Mi was authentic and the NOLA Hot Sausage felt classic and tasty (if you haven't had a Po-Boy before this is a GREAT introduction), but the Crispy Oyster Mushroom really took home the award for our favorite Po-Boy, another pleasant surprise! The broth on the Brisket Meatball Yakamein was otherworldly, but the real show stoppers of the night were the West African Red-Red and the Shrimp & Grits. All in all, you can't go wrong here. The wait staff is with Proof Bar and Incubator and they were incredibly welcoming, fun, and made an effort to help move us to a bigger table because of all the food we ordered. 10/10 will be back. For reference, we went on a Wednesday at 6pm and were able to get seated upstairs (rain prevented sitting on the welcoming patio outside) and they already had reservations lined up which is always a good sign. As someone who lived on MLK for a few years, I can't say how excited I am to have an option like this so close by and with more than convenient hours, especially for later eating!

It was a little more busy when we came in but it definitely got awkwardly quiet closer to 1pm. They didn't have any music playing and the place is kinda big, plus noise tends to echo, so that made our conversation a bit more public than I would like. The church chairs also were kind of messing with the vibe. Looking back, I'm not surprised at all to find out the restaurant is affiliated with a church. But the food was great! My friend enjoyed her pizza and I liked my burger and fries. I think the burger could have had some more flavor to it and more cheese, but the bun was awesome and the fries were amazing. I'd definitely order the fries again. If you're looking for a vibey restaurant to have a private conversation, this is not the place for you lol. But if you're meeting up with a group or idk... are cool with eating in a quiet churchy atmosphere then this is a good place to go. The food is solid and our server was great. They also have their own parking lot, which makes things easy.

Food was absolutely delicious, and we would visit again. Bring patience with you but do give it a try...
