Amparo's Kitchen is a great choice for some seriously delicious Mexican food. It is located in a small no-frills type building and with the exception of a few Christian signs,has pretty much zero ambiance. But the food is the real star at Amparo's Kitchen. I went with three tacos ($3.99 each). Two birria and one steak. The service was incredibly friendly. It was a warm day and they had some shopping fan on the patio and the young man seemed more concerned about it than I did. The tacos were amazing and I can't not mention their fantastic habanero mango salsa. I could have drank that from a cup. I would definitely recommend Amparo's Kitchen and I give it five stars. read more

Everything was good food & tasty. The server and owner made sure about our orders. Me and hubby now have a place to visit for another authentic food & our fave steak birria tacos. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in the USofA. And a very few MEXICAN Mexican restaurants. Amparo's is the real thing: they make their own everything, including several kinds of salsa, tortillas, and drinks like Horchata (made with melon seeds, rice, other stuff - Google it). Their chile relleno was delicious, nothing like Chi-chis, with cheese that was good but didn't overpower the chili pepper. I had Birria, a beef and cheese combination, grilled between housemade corn tortillas. And for dessert I add my praises for the flan: dense not too sweet, fantastic. Oh and the prices (some reviewer complained on Yelp. you gotta be kidding me.) Our big plates of great food (we took leftovers home) cost us around $25 apiece. The quesadilla was handmade and so delicious. I was given three different types of salsa: mango, pineapple, and verde. The family that owns Amparo's is so sweet and provides great service. Don't let the outside fool you! The building looks very small but it's brightly painted. There isn't much room to eat in, but the food is incredible. Tamales were large, handmade, and delicious. Birria was also very good, and laid on freshly fried corn tortillas. The menu is huge for the space--I would like to try more of their options. Wow! Talk about delicious! We had the watermelon agua fresca and the chicken and cheese enchiladas!! So so so good. The meat was very flavorful and there was the perfect amount of rice and beans. Artfully presented too! Excellent service. We were seated right away and had our drinks soon after. Very friendly staff. We ate outdoors and despite the warm temps it was lovely. There are pretty lights around the exterior which I imagine must look nice after dark. This was 3 mins from our hotel (Courtyard) and we are so glad we stopped in! Very authentic. Very fresh. We tried this out after seeing the other reviews on Yelp, and it definitely did not disappoint. The place is small, but it was clean and the outdoor seating was very pleasant. We started with two "pineapple waters" which are fresh pineapple with water added. This was very refreshing and delicious. We ordered the large which were expensive at $7 each, but they were enormous. This was nice on a hot day but a regular would have been more than enough. We ordered two barria tacos, a pork tamale, and the carne asada. All were excellent and good sized portions. If we were local, this would definitely be a staple restaurant in our rotation. read more

It's a covered patio with fans and heaters. The drive-through and pickup were busy and the regulars raved about the food! I decided on the pork tamale lunch meal and a chicken taco, because I have to try a taco! The tamale was large and wrapped in corn husks. The pork had delicious flavor, the beans and rice perfectly cooked and seasoned! The chicken was OUTSTANDING and the taco tortilla was definitely homemade! Just down the road from the antique district is this small Mexican restaurant that you need to try. I had quesabirria and a chicken tamale, and my husband had pork tamales and the carne asada sandwich. Everything tasted homemade. I even loved the rice which I usually skip because blah. I got a ginormous pineapple water that was so good my husband ordered his own. It's tiny inside, but it's a cozy atmosphere the staff was kind and helpful. This relatively new local restaurant is a great new addition to the Mexican food scene in the East Ridge/Chattanooga area! Taste: I had the Torta de Birria, Tostada de Ceviche, and Tostada de Tinga with a glass of Horchata. The ceviche was fresh, with the perfect amount of acidity; a very good start to the meal. The tortas are substantial so order with a decent appetite! The birria was just the right texture with a good amount of flavor. The tinga (pulled chipotle chicken) was tasty and left me wanting more. The assortment of salsas offered had a good range of heat and flavor, and had that homemade touch that anyone could appreciate. Customer Experience: The owner was hard at work in the kitchen and with the guests. What a pleasant person! He was kind, modest, and engaging him in Spanish was a delight! Price: The cost of dining here is a great balance of affordable and delicious. Definitely no need to think twice about coming here if you're on a budget. The dishes are wallet-friendly and the portions generous. I look forward to returning here with friends. We had the best service here! Apparently their menu rotates, so we have plans to return! There's super limited inside eating, with a very small deck for outside dining. It's really cute and comfortable though and have hopes to eat there when it's cooler. We ordered the large portion of elote en vaso and it was the crowd favorite! My teen is still raving about it. We both ordered the quesabirria and the beef was SO flavourful. The salsa that comes with has a nice kick to it too. My husband ordered the Chile relleno (comes with beans and rice) and he cleared his plate!! Said it was good. I ordered an agua de sandía (watermelon) and it was SO flavourful, like drinking liquid watermelon. I also ordered 2 pork tamales and 2 chicken ones and was so surprised at their size. Locally people tend to offer small, Mexican traditional tamales but these were big, almost the Central American banana leaf style which are bigger. Both had good flavor. We ordered sides of rice and beans (think olla style, not refried) and found them to be just like ones you get at your friend's abuelas house. And we got one flan to try.
