I have used Jackson's bakery for well over 45 years. They did my wedding cake almost 41 years ago. I ordered a Birthday cake for my sister last month. I asked for Happy Birthday with her name and asked if they could possibly add a red paw print because she is a Georgia Dogs fan. I was not prepared for how awesome the cake was. They wrote H/B and her name on the top along with a Georgia emblem. Everyone enjoyed the amazing birthday cake from Jackson's Bakery. The family has owned and operated the bakery for many years. Growing up my mom bought my birthday cakes from here. I love that now I am able to buy her cakes from the same family bakery. The cake was very fresh, tasty, moist and delicious. It was beautifully decorated with an array of Spring flowers. I ordered over the phone from out of town seamlessly. They were able to accommodate me with a day's notice. The bakery decor was a bit of nostalgia mixed with functionality. Beautiful cases displayed lots of fresh looking bakery treats. The customer service was nice and friendly. I had forgotten to pick up candies and she happily put a few in the bag. The cake was ready when I arrived. I love supporting local businesses. The pricing was very affordable for a bakery cake and tasted so much better than the chain stores. Never thought I should have asked him to send me a picture of cake. I had spoke with woman when ordering and sent picture of cake that I wanted along with minus purple and booties. It's a good bakery. Not the best I've ever been to, but good and solid. It's been around for awhile and the age shows. It could use a bit of touch up but that's really not what people go there for I guess. I've never had a cake from there, so if I do I would review again. I picked up a few baked goods - cookies, donuts and one of those cream horns I've read about. The cookies were good but I prefer my cookies soft and these were hard cookies. The donuts were tasty for sure. The cream horn? I just don't get it. It was ok. Too sweet for me. Actually I shouldn't really have gotten it because I'm not a huge frosting fan and frankly, that's all this was, a bunch of frosting in a pastry shell. It's just not my thing. My wife grew up with this location as her favorite bakery, and every time i make ti to Chattanooga she has me stop for some goodies The cookies, donuts, gingerbread cookies, you name it its all good! I usually bake cupcakes myself, but I found myself in a time crunch and wanted the real deal cupcakes from a classic bakery and Jackson's Bakery definitely met my expectations. The cupcakes were fresh with perfectly sweet buttercream frosting. So much better than Publix or Walmart's bakeries. VERY UNHAPPY. Today i went to jackson's bakery to get my grandmothers birthday cake, from the second i walk in, terrible customer service. Very rude the whole time and we're acting like neither of them wanted to be there. i pick out a white round cake with yellow flowers and green leaves. i tell him what i need it to say, and without even asking what color i wanted the lettering, they just throw green sloppy writing on top. it looks terrible and the green letters with the green leaves clashes so bad and looks terrible. i don't even want to take this cake to the party. i should have said something but i just paid and walked out because i felt bad to make them use another cake. i don't understand why they would use the same color as what's on it, and not even ask how i wanted it made. will not be back to this location. read more

I live in 650 miles away from Jackson Bakery, but I grew up in Chattanooga. Every year either my parents or I go back to visit, and stopping here is a must. After 20-something years the cakes and cookies are just as I remember them, and I haven't found a substitute that's better. Few things make me more excited than getting a package of two-day-old thumbprint cookies or a cake after someone's been back to Chattanooga. In fact, their coconut cake just graced my thanksgiving dessert table (and I finished the rest in a few days). Simple bakery. Lovely people (the same ones I remember from when I was a kid!). Called to let them know I had received the wrong order. I wasn't even upset; just called to let them know. They were extremely rude on the phone and asked "what do you want me to do about it" and immediately tried to say I had ordered it wrong. The second person I spoke to somewhat apologized (eventually!) for the mix up but continued to loudly sigh and act annoyed when I asked how I could fix it. When I drove all the way back in to get the right order, the owner told me she "didn't hear them on the phone but DIDN'T BELIEVE ME that they were rude" and she also said I must be having a bad day... simply because I tried to exchange the items received for the items I asked for. The baked goods are not anything special but until I saw the horrible customer service, I was happy to support a small, local business. Donuts are dry... cakes are average. My memories of working around the corner in Brainerd Village and running into the Bakery for breakfast pastries are so dear to me. Everyone was so nice and engaging. I too have noticed over time when I go to visit it isn't the same home town bakery feeling.
