Not Quite White & Cranberry Walnut Bread
    Carrie H.

Great little place located just outside of the Chattanooga metropolitan area in Red Banks. A little bit out the way, but worth it, as I was looking specifically for sour dough bread not made with enriched flour. Bread & Butter being one of the few places around that fit that criteria. Lots of goodies throughout the store which tempted me greatly. But I stuck to the plan to only purchase bread (except for the cookie - I HAD to have at least a cookie)! Got my loaves home and tried the Cranberry Walnut first thing. Soooo Delish -- Nutty, crunchy, sweet, crusty on the outside and soft on the inside. Not Quite White (which is actually sourdough) equally good. Service was also acceptable. I would have provided 5 stars, but the prices are astronomical. Nevertheless, I will return as they have just what I need!

    Almond coconut muffins, brownie, focaccia

100% obsessed with this neighborhood bakery. You can get anything in the counter and your mind will be blown. They make fresh focaccia daily and it's always different but never disappoints! Almond coconut muffins are sleeper amazing. Bread Ans sandwiches to die for and of course all pastries are so good we make multiple trips weekly. 10/10.

Of course I'm local! This is my very favorite small bakery in town. Best ham sandwich in town! Best pecan sandies and f all time. Alfresco lunch, no inside seating but who needs it on such a gorgeous day!?

Salted double chocolate chip and pecan sandie...not their official names

Always wanted to stop in here when I'm in the Red Bank area, so I finally did it! It was near their closing time, but they still had some goodies left in the cookie jars! There is a sign on the door that asks for only 1 party at a time inside the store, so they are definitely taking COVID precautions. Since I was only looking for a sample, I chose two individual cookies to try. The salted chocolate chip cookie (it was large) was recommended and I also selected the pecan sandie - because I love a buttery shortbread cookie! Both were delicious but that chocolate chip cookie...{insert fireworks, music, and unicorns}. I also picked up a sampler baggie for my sons - it had one of each cookie in it, about 5 cookies total. Although I did not try any of the others - because they ate them within 5 minutes of bringing them home - my youngest thought the Garam Masala ginger snap was really interesting and it had a kick to it. This place is not far off US 27, Morrison Spring Rd exit, worth a try!

I was waiting to go get a massage and stumbled upon the sweet little place. I had a salted chocolate chip cookie and it was amazing. They had a ton of cute local goods for sale as well. Highly recommend.

Omg! What a delicious treat... I'm so happy my friend scooped me up and brought me here with her! This bread... delicious, I think I said that already. This little shop definitely has it going on! The French baguette is delicious! (It didn't eve last 30 minutes). They have coffee, hot chocolate, tea and other beverages. They have a coffee fixing stand but no tables inside to hangout. They do have two (2) tables outside but during the cold weather you definitely won't want to be outside. They offer dog treats and they have a fridge with different stuff. They also offer day old specials and let me tell you, they still taste fresh. I'm sad they are not in Nashville but I would definitely BOLO for my friend when she goes back to either go with or ask to bring me some goodies.

    Latin Pocket, cut in half

When the first snow apocalypse caused a meeting delay this morning but only dusted the roads, I made a quick trip to Bread and Butter to try a new morning treat. I was not disappointed. The almond croissant I picked up was the biggest I've ever seen and fresh deliciousness! A cup of Velo coffee complimented it. I also picked up what's called a "latin pocket" to try for lunch. It's plantains, black beans, queso fresco, and rice cooked evenly inside rolled over artisan baked dough. Tasty. Go Red Bank!

Love the paper bags and logo stamp on the products!

I was hesitant when we arrived, seeing a line out the door and around the corner. However that line moved so fasts Nied did amazing getting people in and out. They had a huge selection of merch that was themed perfect to their mission and goals. The "We're all bread inside" design was probably my favorite. For meals, I got the Niedlov's Breakfast and my friend got the Ham and Gruyère Skillet. I loved what I got, but when I go again I think I will try a skillet because they all smelled amazing! I also got a Gruyère Bacon Chive Scone and a Orange Pan Suisse to take on the road. Both were outstanding. For my drink, I got one of their Blueberry Basil Matcha. I was a little nervous about the basil, but I can genuinely say it was my favorite drink of my entire trip. Lastly I want to say a special thank you to the staff. We thought we weren't going to be able to find a table, but when we found one at the last second, they actually offered to switch my meal to a skillet since they can't do those to go. Absolutely a five star experience and I am already anticipating my next visit.

That was so good, I went back the second day and ate in. That day I tried their breakfast plate, and that was excellent. High praise for the bacon, which comes from the butcher shop next door. The fried potatoes were also great! I opted for their sourdough toast, and enjoyed it so much I got a loaf to take home when I left. Their coffee drinks are very good - I enjoyed my latte both days. Service was very prompt - you order at the counter and they will bring food to your table. I was there mid-morning on a Friday, and it was packed! It's a really nice vibe, with an outdoor patio and the indoor seating area. After eating here, I can understand why they were nominated for a James Beard award. If you are ever in Chattanooga, this is worth the effort! 5/5, would absolutely go back!

Rembrandt's Coffee House around the corner from them also sells their breads and baked goods, so you have a second option if Bluff View Bakery is closed. So woke up the next morning and no food or breakfast is located in the three or more buildings. You have to walk about a city block away. When you arrive for breakfast your food is delivered in a cardboard box - which was actually gross ! You will NOT wake up to fresh coffee, orange juice or anything in the common area. You will find all areas are locked except for a very cold room with an actual church Pugh bench in the common area. Next I return to the room and the maids were outside. I asked for extra bathroom towels and was told "can only give you more towels in exchange for your dirty towels. I also asked for another blanket to sleep with and the maid states " now I have to goto the other building for that". Later that day I turned on the shower, the shower knob was stuck on all hot, and could not even take a three minute shower. The actual room had a small television in the wall, behind the television was a curtain. I moved the curtain back to find a huge hole on the wall (where and old tv was filled with dust). Tony's pasta restaurant (onsite) was a sodium filled nightmare. Tried the pasta- over cooked , the meatballs were unetiable. Our first visit was near their closing time, so there were not many items left. We did find a few we wanted to try. Our next visit was earlier in the day and the selection was significantly greater. I cannot identify everything we saw or even purchased, but I can tell you everything was quite good. The filled items had fillings like cheese, fruit, one was even ham and cheese. One time my parents and I came here after dinner for their gelato, and it was so delicious. We were all very impressed with the consistency and how smooth it was. So I've only had their gelato after all these years. This time I came for brunch with a friend on Sunday morning. It was packed and we got on the waiting list for a table. Wait time wasn't too bad actually. My friend and I both ordered the Hodgepodge Hash and I subbed the sausage for chicken sausage. Everything was absolutely amazing. I wish I had come here sooner. I loved everything about my meal. It was flavorful, dynamic, full of texture. It had that spice from the serrano peppers, crispy and flavorful potatoes, and the sauce tied it all together. I love savory breakfast, and that was it. Now I'm hungry and missing my previous meal just writing about it haha. Afterwards, we got gelato! I was pleasantly surprised that the gelato came with two scoops because I originally just wanted the coffee flavored one. So I had a scoop of Coffee + Cream and Pistachio. Our gelato was so tasty. I love anything coffee so this one was good, and the Pistachio one was nice and light. It had a subtle Pistachio creamy taste. Just as before, the gelato was smooth, creamy, and full of flavor. Service was great, our waiter was very friendly and super helpful with our food preferences. I have no complaints at all about our experience, and I love every single thing we ordered. The most is that they do not have a method to take reservations or even call ahead seating. Wait times were often in excess of an hour listening to other people waiting to be seated. That's a horrible experience on its face, and the management of this restaurant needs to do much much better or just close on Mother's Day. Next, we'll get to the food. I doubt it was a shining example of what they are capable of. I got the shock Shuka and it was mediocre. I'm not expecting it to be as good as what I would get in Tel Aviv, and I've had the real thing in Tel Aviv. But to be honest, the eggs came out nearly hard-boiled not poached. And the eggs are one of the stars of the show for this dish. If you don't get them right, the entire dish fails. Next will touch on the chicken and waffles. The observation from my tablemate was that it was dry and he didn't even eat it all. The same thing can be said for my other tablemate who had. The chicken biscuit. The biscuit was exemplary, but the chicken was dry and actually overcooked. Then there were the omelettes, I don't believe they were impressive in any way and the people that ordered them agree. For those of us at the table, they ordered coffee, it was rather strong. I normally like strong coffee, but this was borderline Turkish coffee, and there wasn't enough cream available to mask the potency. The service was also stretched thin, our server, Destiny, did her best, but she was waiting too many tables. Having one better way to myself I have a special affinity for Service staff who are asked to do too much. We left her a good tip, but I'm sure she is capable of much better service than what she was allowed to deliver. Finally, the overwhelming crowd made the restaurant feel claustrophobic. The noise level was far too high, and we could barely hear one another at our table and we were sitting very close to one another. I don't place the blame on the kitchen, staff, or the wait staff, or even the greeters. This was a fail of management, plain and simple. They made no contingency plans for that many people and should have anticipated a larger crowd on Mother's Day. I challenge you to do better. We will come back during a normal Service day to see if you can perform better, but I encourage you as owners and managers to stop setting your staff up for failure, which is what you did!
