On our last day of the trip, we decided to check out Duck Donuts, and it was great. The donuts looked just like the reviews and online photos--they're also made to order, which is super cool. We enjoyed picking out our own dozen and also grabbed a half dozen of the classic flavors. We also ordered some coffee, and they made it fresh for us when we got there. It went perfectly with the donuts! The store itself was inviting and clean, and the ladies making the donuts were super friendly, greeting us as soon as we walked in. The atmosphere was welcoming, with nice music playing in the background. Great location as well. And let me tell you, the toppings were generous! This place is SO cool! I look forward to coming back and visiting and bringing my kids one day. They make the donuts fresh from the start, and I have never seen a donut place as unique as this one. I've never been to a Duck Donuts that didn't deserve five stars. Service is always great, and the donuts are absolutely the best you can get, anywhere. This one is no exception. You get your donuts hot out of the frier, made to order. Loads of different toppings, most of them unique. It's not a place to go when you're in a hurry, nor is it a place you can sit and enjoy your donuts. First time going I only got 2 glaze, 1 cinnamon and sugar and glaze with sprinkles I think it was $12. They're good I'm just not big on cake doughnuts. The doughnuts were a good size. OMG - I was on vacation in the area and was craving something sweet and was literally driving to Krispy Kreme and out of the corner of my eye I saw the sign on the front of the Bldg, and was like WHAT is Duck Donuts, So I drove over & went in and OMG... Its the Subway of Donuts, You can literally pick what you want and they make it ON THE SPOT!!! Up here (Boston) we have tons of Donut spots that make crazy over the top donuts but not like this, they make them in the am so they are all sitting there all day, But these are warm and made to order so literally fresh as can and the combinations are OUT OF CONTROL!!! I made a bunch of random PB things & chocolate things and they were all soo delicious!! Noticed that the owner was a Big Tom Brady fan so that was cool, I also happened to be in there the week Tom Brady retired the first time so I was bitter being a NE Fan!! Whose idea was this?! I was leaving Jason's and just HAPPENED to spot the hanging Duck Donuts sign. Because me and my friend had to know, we went in and were immediately taken aback by how good it smelled inside. It's sort of set up like Dos Bros or Chipotle where you order and then watch them make your specific donuts. We didn't plan on staying there to eat them, but the attendant kinda gave us a look like "...Are you sure you don't want forks so you can taste them?" So, we obeyed and sat down to take a bite. And then kept taking bites....and then started thumping our legs....and then my friend started chastising the attendants with, "You all should be ashamed of yourselves!" These donuts are delicious. Place is small and parking is a little crazy in that lot with all the stores etc. you have to be careful. Donuts taste like homemade cake donuts which I don't care for. Since I love Krispy Kreme so much I don't think anything compares. But if you are out that way you can try them. May be a little less expensive than Tasty Donuts and a little similar in taste. Service is ok. Too small to really hang out to me. But I will loiter where donuts are. Since the owner thanked me for coming in, I really liked that. Let me start off by saying Wow! This was the first time I had heard of or been in a place like this. I thought it was just a regular doughnut shop then I realized it was not! I see a belt taking very small batches of made to order doughnuts. I looked around and wiped a tear from face from the joy I was experiencing! LOL The owner was helping me decide I landed on cinnamon and sugar and OMG!!! He recommended I eat them quickly while they were still warm and he was right some of them made it all the way out the door to my car but not much farther! WOW! Just wow! This is my new favorite donut place when I come here to visit. Love the atmosphere of this shop. So bright, friendly and inviting. The great way to describe this is like a Subway for donuts. You can literally have your donut your way! The possibilities are endless and they already have some great combinations suggested for you if the amount of toppings is overwhelming. What I love is that it is made to order. The donuts are served fresh and warm and makes it taste like heaven. It's just an explosion of flavors in your mouth. Their milkshake was one of the best milkshakes I've had. Goes down smooth. We ended up in the parking lot here after making a wrong turn off of I-75, and I think it was because the angels were guiding us. We were aggravated, saw a donut sign and assumed we'd run in to a Dunkin-like situation, grab something and leave. This little gem is not generic chain, it's a tiny slice of heaven where you will sit down at a spotless table and experience what a donut should taste like. As first time visitors, we were a bit overwhelmed by the made-to-order process and choices re flavors/toppings/drizzles, but the staff could not have been more patient or friendly. The bf saw bacon as a topping choice and his eyes lit up the way they do when he sees an auto parts store; I opted for chocolate and coconut. Hearing "made to order" made me a little apprehensive about the length of time we'd be waiting, but the roughly 2 minutes goes by quickly. By the time we sat down with our drinks, our donuts were ready and boxed up. I can't do justice to how wonderful they taste, all warm, fresh out of the oven/fryer/donut contraption, coated in chocolate that tastes like cocoa and not melted Barbie plastic. The donuts are crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside, and the toppings are generous (even the bacon!). The only thing sweeter than the donuts was the staff. I heard so much about this place that I had to try it. It's different from other donut shops in several ways. First, they only make one type of donut, which is a cake donut. Second, the donuts are all made to order.... fried and then you select your individual toppings (of which there are many). This means that you do have a wait to get your order, and there are ALOT of people in there. But, you then have fresh, hot donuts. I haven't decided yet if the donuts are worth the crowds. Fenominal hot donut, so good, so fresh, and love the customization aspect. Nothing to complain about with the food at all, also the coffee was fresh and delicious. You get to pick your glaze any dusting and any toppings in any combination of your liking and are not charged for different toppings, best donut I've had in a long time, definitely worth trying. My only concern is the operation of preparing the donuts, there was about 6 employees piled on top of each other all trying to knock out tickets and seemed like there should be a better way of getting tickets filled. I'm not sure if it was due to the recent open or just general popularity to the place but I waited 45 minutes for my donuts and I ordered 2 donuts. Of course the quantity of what I ordered did not affect my wait time but 45 minutes for 2 donuts seemed to he excessive. I just realized that I had not written a review for Duck Donuts even though I am a regular here. Oops! This is such a precious little shop full of fun little duckies and the best Donuts around. The staff is always so courteous even when there are lines out the door. I'm not 100% positive but I'm pretty sure I'm dealing with the owner when I'm being rung up. A couple weeks ago there was an older gentleman handing out menus and explaining to new faces how it works. I just wanted to hug him and adopt him and him be my family. The gentleman that ring me up called him dad so I'm thinking that this might be a family deal. I may be way off but who cares super great staff, super yummy Donuts what more could you want. They make every donut fresh to order you get to pick your glazed and your toppings and your drizzle. You get to watch the magic unfold in front of you. The line runs like a well-oiled machine. The best part about it is that they keep your box open and ask you if it is what you ordered and it looks okay. That's amazing customer service. I'm just going to tell you my personal favorite is glazed and peanut butter topped with Heath and drizzled with marshmallow. Don't knock it till you've tried it. Coming in a close second is glazed blueberry with vanilla drizzle. They offer a gazillion different choices and combinations. The guy in front of me ordered a maple glaze with bacon which personally sounds disgusting but he says it's bomb. My wife and some of our friends said everything that they tried was amazing as well.
