These people aren't mean at all. It was all happy times meeting up with old friends and sipping caffeine at MMC. One positive is easy parking, as you're near Hamilton where lots abound. Quick service as well if that's your need. For us it was lingering and conversing with some iced espressos and cold brew + cream. Since my wife already had her tea quota for the day, she enjoyed the lemon/blueberry cake (warmed of course). Real glasses were a nice touch for those iced drinks as well. There are plenty of spots to get a little work done while you imbibe, and the drink choices abound, along with some sweets and gluten free choices. The breakfast all day choices like keto bowl and paleo breakfast would fill up most eaters, or go lighter with salads or smoked salmon bagel. I could visit many times and not wear out this menu. I'll return for more next time I'm passing through.

Mean Mug made sure my mean mug turned upside down every morning... because I am NOT a morning person - so having this location next door to our hotel (the Aloft) was PERFECT. The decor is super cute! Loved the interior and wish I could have stayed to appreciate it. I brought the pup to grab a cup of coffee and a quick bite but dogs are not allowed inside, which is understandable since they do have a kitchen and serve food. We ordered inside and after I took some pics, we sat outside in the outdoor seating area. The nitro latte is SO GOOD! I downed it and had to stop myself from ordering another. I did end up getting a second one the next day though LOL. We had brunch plans but wanted a quick bite first in case there was a wait - the smoked salmon bagel was a pretty and loaded option that I appreciated, especially for the price ($8 in 2022). Overall, a solid coffee shop in an area surrounded by chain restaurants. Definitely recommend!

The place is small with limited inside and outside seating. The egg bites were delicious. The breakfast bowl lacked flavor and needed some seasoning.

Smoked Salmon Bagel

Smoked Salmon bagel with the feta cream cheese was the BOMB! Delicious. Highly recommend.

Traveling on a roadtrip with family and this was a good option because of the vegan options available for me. I had a latte with oat milk and lavender syrup and a tofu scramble on an everything bagel. The coffee and food was delicious and there was outdoor seating which was great since we had our dog with us. The service was great and although they get busy, they move quickly. I would definitely come back and recommend for vegan options.

Mean Mug Coffee House is a good fast casual eatery and coffee shop with 4 locations in the Chattanooga metro area. The Hamilton Place location is tucked away on the outside of the mall, with both indoor and outdoor seating. I read in another review that Chattanooga has an excess of mediocre coffee shops, and I tend to agree. While Mean Mug served up a decent cappuccino and americano, nothing particularly stood out about them. The flourless brownie and strawberry Nutella muffin were ok. A dining companion really liked them, although I wasn't much of a fan of the brownie texture/taste. The place was packed with people grabbing breakfast sandwiches, so I perhaps missed out on the full dining experience? The menu prices for food seemed very fair, and could seriously give a place like Panera a run for their money. Something unique they've done to stimulate mid-day business is adopt a "caffeine happy hour," which is simply genius; it would be great if other coffee shops would adopt this practice.

Super cute little coffeehouse, tasty coffee, regretfully wedged into one of the worst places to park at Hamilton Place Mall. You'll find Mean Mug attached to the Aloft Hotel, right between the Dave & Busters and the Cheesecake Factory. It's on the "back" i75 side of the mall, Friendly service, didn't rush me to order. Jokey and sweet barista. 12oz of whole coffee beans and a fancy seasonal mocha came to about $20, and with the beans purchase they give you a small drip coffee for free. It was exceptionally clean inside - even the milk/sugar stations were immaculate. Will be back again to try breakfast and update!

Mediocre coffee and atmosphere. I checked them out because I was at Hamilton Place next door. Unlike the many specialty roasters in Chattanooga, this coffee didn't have very good flavor. It was bitter, didn't have the fresh roast smell, and the taste was mild. Definitely not what I was expecting. Also, I found the atmosphere to be hectic and cramped. For better coffee, look elsewhere. My favorite in this area is Renaissance Coffee in downtown Chattanooga.

I got their smoked salmon bagel and their iced lavender latte with oat milk. Service was pretty fast and the workers were friendly. After ordering, they worked immediately on our lattes. I noticed that the worker was adding almond milk rather than oat to my order, so I notified the worker and she immediately switched it out. The food was good and my latte was excellent. Will come back here again.

Decent coffee place that's a bit small but has a friendly environment. Built next to the mall in the area. I got the Horchata Streamer with coconut milk as recommended by the barista. It had all the notes of horchata without being too sweet. The foam and cinnamon on top were a nice touch.

Sausage biscuit and coffee

Maps program gives bad directions, but it's well worth the confusion. Coffee was excellent and the sausage biscuit was extremely fluffy and delicious!

Entry and order station.

Truly the meanest mug. This is potentially the worst coffee I've had in my life--acidic, watery, and crowded atmosphere.

I enjoy visiting mainly for their teas, but I have also been impressed by their large selection of delicious spices and infused sugars. They also offer a Tea Bar. You can order and enjoy a fresh brewed tea while you shop or just take it to go. A year prior,  I became addicted to a seasonally offered tea blend; their banana nut muffin herbal tea. It's so good! On a recent visit, I learned that they actually carry the tea blend for their Tea Bar. I am so happy that I was able to enjoy a cuppa of my favorite tea without having to wait for Fall to roll around. This place has become one of my favorite establishments in the area. This is a fairly large shop in a location that I'm not sure entirely suits it - but I was very glad to see it! They have a drive through but I wound up going inside to use the restroom. It's a beautiful and modern building, with a lot of space inside to relax or work. The restroom was immaculate and the line to order was short and moved quickly. Service was also incredibly friendly and pleasant. They were very patient with the customer in front of me who asked a LOT of questions, lol. I placed an order for an iced marble mocha, which had both dark and white chocolate. This was a unique concept to me but it actually really worked! I could taste both kinds of chocolate distinctly and it was very tasty. As I kept drinking it, I will say it was a little heavy on the milk for me, but ultimately it was a tasty drink. My friends and I were always lucky to snag a table for us those times. But coming in the morning is really pleasant. I've only gotten coffee here in the past, so this time we got food. I got a Pistachio Croffin (croissant muffin) and we shared a Berries and Cream crepe. And that first bite of that crepe was absolutely delicious. We were planning on sharing that crepe with another friend, but that crepe was so good we demolished it haha. We ended up ordering the Spinach Pesto crepe to share for later instead. But wow, I have nothing but praise for these crepes because they blew me away. The Berries and Cream crepe was just amazing. Fruits tasted fresh and juicy. The crepe itself was perfectly sweet. And the whipped cream cheese filling inside was light and creamy. I couldn't ask for more in a fruit crepe. Also the light drizzle of sweetened condensed milk on top? Chef's kiss. And then we tried the Spinach and Pesto crepe. It had all my favorite things inside, so of course I loved it. I loved the savory pesto spread inside the crepe, the spinach, ricotta, and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. The tomatoes added a nice acidity to balance and the balsalmic glaze tied it all together on top. It felt like applause roared in my mouth. Also I can't forget the Pistachio Croffin I ate too. It had great texture, and had that subtle nutty flavor from the pistachio. I really liked it. Anyways, I'm a big Morning Brew fan. It's poppin' in the afternoon and it's tough getting a seat, but it's not hard to see why. I prefer the early mornings for a more quiet and less chaotic atmosphere. Love you morning brew! I will always remember how those crepes rocked my world and I'll definitely be back.
