The staff was sweet, the treats were sweeter and SO goood! The smores cheesecake is not overly sweet which i LOVED, and the truffle chocolates are GREAT!! A must stop in read more

I'll start by saying I ordered the white hot chocolate and squirrel cheesecake to go because we were wandering around town sightseeing. Staff was friendly. There were a lot of options as far as flavors, sizes, toppings, etc. I stuck with a 12 oz white hot chocolate with whipped cream. Now the white hot chocolate was fantastic. It was real white chocolate and it was a nice bit of sweetness. But the cheesecake was unfortunately disappointing. I don't know if it was over baked or over beaten or what but it had a rubbery jello like texture that's not appealing in the mouth when expecting something different. I could only have two bites before giving up on the $9 slice. I'm torn on this review. And this is because I was so excited and hopeful to try the cute hot chocolate place with desserts that I wanted to love it. But was so disappointed with my dessert. The hot chocolate was fantastic and that being their key thing is what I would try again. But I'd probably never reorder a baked dessert from them as they are not necessarily cheap and I wouldn't want to be disappointed when there are other treat options around the area. The space itself is mountainy fun candy cottage vibe. Serves the purpose of having somewhere to enjoy the treats you've ordered inside. read more

Finally made it..I was expecting high quality desserts and hot chocolate. I love sweet but Unfortunately, my strawberry dessert was way too sweet, barely finished the cake. The hot chocolate was not worth crossing the street. The macaroons not memorable either. I did not try the actual chocolates. The staff were young and friendly. I appreciated they offered real mug for table service. Large indoor seating area. read more

Lots of sweets from cakes, cookies, chocolates, hot chocolate mixes, frozen hot chocolate and more. Prices moderate for the chocolates pre bagged ($13 for small bag for handful of chocolate covered peanuts)! Service helpful -no "welcome what can we help you find?" conversation but got our items and left bc they were closing at 6:00. Small area for seating. read more

The Hot Chocolatier is AMAZING! I'm from the area, and I just never have been able to get to it before closing time. Well, I got to go today. I got the S'mores Hot Chocolate. My husband got the Lavender White Chocolate. Both were PHENOMENAL!!! The BEST hot chocolate I've ever had! Even better than my ex-MIL's!!! So freaking GOOD!! The barista who helped us was so kind and so helpful. We would have never tried anything lavender. The place had a really cool vibe. Get yourself to the Hot Chocolatier, PRONTO!!! read more

We had never been to The Hot Chocolatier. Have been wanting to try for a while, so we chose it for our dessert after our meal at Nic & Norman's. It was rather busy with children playing while the parents chatted. Not a quiet place. The girl taking our order was very kind and helpful. Husband settled on the S'mores Hot Chocolate and I chose the Lavender White Chocolate. Wowzers on both!!! Excellent!! Will definitely be back to try some more of their different flavors. They have plenty! Get out there and get you some excellent hot chocolate! read more

If you haven't visited The Hot Chocolatier, then you really should! Such a darling shop filled with SO MANY delectable chocolate treats. The truffles were so lovely! Everything we had was so decadent and the advertised flavors really shown through. My personal top favorites and highly recommended flavors to try are the Orange Blossom Truffle, Earl Grey Truffle, and the Peanut Butter Bon Bon ($2.75 each). We also ordered their European Style Sipping Chocolate ($6) and a Candied Orange Hot Chocolate ($5). Oh my LAWD! This is genuinely among the top two best hot chocolates I've had. Paired along with creative and delicious truffles, it was such a pleasing experience to the palate. Service was great too. Each staff member was very sweet (no pun intended) and efficient. I look forward to returning to enjoy more of their divine chocolate treats and highly reccomend visiting if you haven't yet. read more

I saw this place on a Yelp list somewhere -- maybe the best hot chocolate shops in the US? -- and immediately bookmarked it. I made a special trip while in town last week because I really wanted to try it. I can't comment on parking because I walked from several blocks away to enjoy the city. It did seem like there were some paid lots available nearby, though. The inside is actually pretty spacious and was clean and well organized. There's a wall full of shelved confections like chocolate covered nuts and such, and a cooling case with other treats. The drink menu has an extensive list of hot chocolate, a few frozen hot chocolate options, as well as coffees and teas. There are a few tables for seating and about 3-4 ladies were working hard behind the counter. The girl who took my order was a little spacey but nice. I asked her if I should get hot or frozen chocolate and she said definitely frozen. It was a tiny bit chilly so I was a little reticent, but it's hard to find frozen hot chocolate at home so I went for it. I felt bad because she very enthusiastically recommended the addition of strawberry syrup to make a sort of frozen chocolate strawberry concoction, but being that I don't like chocolate covered fruit that much, I had to turn her down. She seemed crestfallen and I felt really guilty. It's not you, it's me!! I wound up with the smallest sized frozen hot chocolate and a bag of milk chocolate covered pretzels to go. The price was pretty high imo, but potentially justifiable -- I just wish my treats had been better. The frozen hot chocolate was fine. It was sweet and chocolatey, as you'd expect, but I couldn't shake the feeling of a sort of powdery malt flavor -- reminiscent of powdered hot chocolate. Maybe that's what they were going for. But for me, it just doesn't convey a lot of richness or depth of flavor; it's as chocolatey as a Wendy's Frosty, which is fine, but I was hoping for something else. I still enjoyed it well enough and I'm more than willing to accept maybe this just wasn't for me; I'd be happy to try one of their hot chocolate drinks and was a little sad I hadn't. The main detractor was the milk chocolate covered pretzels. I opened them the next day to share with my husband and my goodness they were unforgivably stale. The chocolate itself had a lovely flavor and consistency, but the pretzels were just sad. Not enough salt, either. All around very disappointed in those. I don't want to end on a super harsh note. I'd definitely give them another try, but would probably aim for a hot chocolate instead. read more

Delicious with lots of options. During our trip to Chattanooga, we tried out the Hot Chocolatier. It was so good we went back both days that we were in town. It's a very cute shop that is open with lots of seating, one wall is filled with different chocolate options and creations and their display cases are loaded with handmade chocolates, cakes and cookies. They have a lot of options for hot chocolate and also coffee if you want more caffeine. We tried a few different things during our trip. We got their macaron cake, squirrel cheesecake, chocolate dipped strawberry cake, brown butter cookie, orange pistachio cookie, Dubai crunch truffle and different hot chocolates. Everything we had was delicious. The cakes were light and fluffy and their icing was amazing. The chocolate was creamy and tasty and the cookies downright addicting. Hot chocolates were creamy and bursting with flavor. Each time we went the staff was super friendly and helpful. Giving out suggestions or answering questions. It's a great place for sweets and drinks. We didn't try any of their more savory options but I would assume they would be on par with the rest of their offerings. It's just a fun place to grab a treat and to sit and enjoy some time. read more

The staff was very friendly and doesn't rush you to make a decision. We shared the bread pudding, hubby got the squirrel (hazelnut/caramel) hot chocolate and I got the s'mores with actual toasted marshmallows. They offer already bagged candy, snacks, and cocoa mixes as well as assorted chocolates and desserts in display cases. The food and cocoas are delicious. read more

Very DRY STALE cake that tastes terrible, probably weeks old...just unacceptable. We literally threw both cakes in the trash and went somewhere else. Service was weird. Super cool idea! Very cute place, loved my frozen hot chocolate. The worker was super friendly to me! Got a dessert too and was so yum

First time to the spot. The cashier was a little short and not friendly at first. After a few questions she opened up but didn't know the menu well enough to answer most of the questions we had. The sandwiches are great and freshly made. The hot chocolate was good. You could tell it was made the old way. One was a little chunky but the other one was smooth. Not sure why. I enjoyed the visit. This is a nice little dessert spot across from the Chattanooga Choo Choo. They have a great selection of fancy chocolate along with other great sweets and snacks. From what I have seen so far in Chattanooga the Hot Chocolatier is the best chocolate store in the area and they have fantastic chocolate desserts and this really is a nice chocolate store. They offer a fantastic selection of beautiful chocolate candy, gelato and a wonderful selection of pastries and other desserts. I don't really like hot chocolate as a beverage but this definitely looks like the best place for hot chocolate that I have ever seen but I will be sticking to coffee as I need my caffeine. The Hot Chocolatier has earned a spot in my heart for being the best chocolate store in Chattanooga I've ever seen and for having such great chocolate desserts. This really is an amazingly nice chocolate store and a great gift store along with offering a delicious chocolate cheesecake. Overall I'm quite a fan of this spot and I always make a visit when I'm in Chattanooga, TN! read more

Absolutely unique and creative as ever! Wish we could open one up in Florida but it wouldn't sell as good. From hot chocolate to frozen hot chocolate from s'mores hot chocolate to peppermint hot chocolate which btw (is my fav) OH and lets not forget the hot apple cider. WOWZERZ! We enjoyed every bit of it. They service, the waiting, the smells, the atmosphere was wonderful. We arrived in Chattanooga Saturday and found this gem later that night and had the cider and then came back Sunday evening before we headed to Asheville and got the hot chocolate. We had a sweet lady that gave me a sticker for my sticker book / bucket list book and she was super kind and very nice to talk to while at the display / ordering counter. We will definitely be back and will make sure to let everyone know about this fantastic little cozy place. Miss it already! read more

If you're a chocolate-lover, this is THE place to go! There are truffles, cakes, coffee, TONS of flavors of hot chocolate like lavender and gingerbread, and frozen hot chocolate too! There wasn't gelato available (I'm assuming because it's winter). We went at night and the line wrapped all the way around the store so make sure you allot time. It moves slowly, but there are a lot of (pricy) items for purchase to contemplate that could make good gifts. No seating is available inside. Overall a cute shop with lots of chocolate options! read more

Here is another place I was told I needed to check out. We got a cotton candy macaron ($2.50), frozen hot chocolate ($4.75) and Marshmallow on a stick. The macaron was wayyy too sweet and was overbaked. The frozen hot chocolate was nice on a super hot day out. My daughter really liked it, I thought it was ok, so she drank mine also. It was kind of like bittersweet overpriced chocolate milk. The chocolate coveted marshmallow was very tasty but not worth $3.95 for one. It was a dark chocolate with a good crunch to it. The employees seemed a little clustered and distracted. read more

Chocolate covered raisins. 5 stars. Everything else I would give a negative if it was an option. Service? What service? We walked in on a Saturday afternoon and we couldn't even be greeted. The team behind the counter seemed listlessly wandering. You would think with the whole two people in the establishment --would warrant some kind of acknowledgement. Sadly, there would be - none. This place was recommended by a lovely couple from the Chattanooga area. I was excited to visit and purposely skipped dessert at Stir, next door. What a disappointment. Go in. Get your chocolate and leave. I assure you. They most likely prefer it that way. read more

Happened upon this place walking through the streets. The interior is filled with chocolates of all kinds and there is a cafe at the back. They sell hot drinks as well. I ordered a macaroon and a dark chocolate truffle with raspberry. They were ok, I would not consider it decadent. I also purchased a can of hot chocolate that was really overpriced. I would visit again to try one of their drinks. read more

Everything at this unique business is hand-made in their glass-walled kitchen, made that way for your viewing pleasure. There are actually two sets of kitchens: one for making cold items such as chocolate mousse, cheesecake and other desserts, and another section where hot items, such as truffles and hot drinks are made. If you desire a hot chocolate drink, get the Gingerbread Hot Chocolate with a Toasted House-made Marshmallow on top. The drink takes you back to simpler times; times when you were a carefree child. The taste of this drink is incredibly satisfying, down to the last drop. The milk chocolate is rich and warm, the hint of gingerbread is just enough to not overpower the chocolate, yet be prominent enough to recognize you've discovered a gingerbread wonderland. Add a hand-crafted toasted marshmallow on top, and it will slowly melt into the chocolate, creating a creamy chocolate gingerbread concoction that you won't be able to put down. Sipped slowly, this is the stuff I dream of. My favorite chocolates are the Milk Chocolate Pecan Squirrel, made with toasted pecans, buried under chewy vanilla, caramel, milk chocolate, and topped with sea salt. Much like squirrels bury things, the name is derived from that source, since the nuts are 'buried', then flipped over onto the paper wrapper. My second favorite is Champagne, which consists of fluffy dark chocolate ganache made with champagne, and dipped in dark chocolate, then topped with a sugar 'Pearl'. The hand made and formed artisan truffles and chocolates, plus the chocolate-covered items are so richly delicious and delicate. You can't go wrong with any of these treats. So far, there hasn't been anything I have not liked. Since 2008, The Hot Chocolatier has been making drinks, whole cakes, gelato, truffles & bon bons, desserts, corporate and personal gifts, and so much more. They also have partnered with 'Chattanooga Whiskey' next door to incorporate some of their whiskeys into their products. You can actually hit both places on the same day. ;;) Since their items made with dairy have no preservatives, they suggested those are to be consumed within 10 days, but I doubt you'll make it past 2 days. LOL. Since they use milk, wheat, soy, tree nuts and peanuts, they don't boast of being gluten free, since some items contain wheat and flour. They provide delivery locally and shipping, but don't ship during the Summer months. Gift cards are also available, starting at $10. read more

Went to this place once. Parking is not the best. Hot chocolate was a little underwhelming. That's all I had. There was no real service you just order and wait on your stuff then take it way in the back if you plan on sitting down. But the girl at the register was cordial to us. Probably would not go back. read more

Cute place with a fun atmosphere. The quality is unbelievable! I had the dark raspberry hot chocolate which was amazing. My daughter had peppermint hot chocolate. We got a few other items to take home. Their biscotti is the best I've ever had, the chocolate chip bar was excellent and the one piece of candy I got was just perfect. We were there on the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving when it was very, VERY crowded. It took about 45 min from joining the line to getting our order, but it was worth it. I don't know if this happens every Saturday because we don't live locally. I'm looking forward to going back. read more

I love this place! When I tell you their marshmallows will change your life, I AM NOT KIDDING! I not only love their marshmallows, but their hot chocolate flavors are equally creative and delicious. Hot Chocolatier made the most delicious red velvet cakes for my daughter's wedding recently. We received infinite compliments: the cake was delicious, the icing was thick and a had a perfect cream cheese taste. Expensive little chocolate shop. Good variety but my chocolate covered oreo was stale inside, and the cherry was mediocre. My husband liked the two he picked out better than I liked mine. "Ashley" the manager on 11/20/22 was EXTREMELY rude. She was ringing us up for our drinks and treated my husband like he was an inconvenience, spoke very rudely, and when I asked her politely to be a bit more kind, she responded, "Thank you but I can do whatever I want!" Then, she turned around and walked to the back. When I asked another worker the managers name, she pointed to the person who had been so rude and said her name was "Ashley" and stated she didn't know her last name. I'm sure that was not the case, and "Wendy," if you are the actual owner, I hope this is not what you want as the face of your fine business. Guess this generation of humans are ok with being unprofessional and rude. If you don't like your job, if your boss doesn't uplift and support you and treat you like you are worth it, find a new job. This is the only thing I can gather from her attitude and then from reading the posts from over the last 7 years. Not to mention employee posts on Indeed about having to work here. read more

Got a Chocolate Chai Tea Latte and special ordered a Hottie Latte (spicy chocolate). Both taste good. The Chai is rich in chocolate flavor but the Hottie probably needed a little more boost. Also bought the Frozen and Hot Chocolate mixes. Price - $50. (Slight eeek feeling) Something that is missing is an area of the premade gift baskets with pricing.
