I'm not the biggest fan of leaving low rated reviews, but I honestly had such a bad experience. I did not have the amazing/glorious time that everyone else on Yelp seemed to have. Let's just get straight into it: - La was my first tailor in Dallas. I'm originally from Miami and accustomed I guess to privacy while changing, etc. I'm not sure if she was displaced due to COVID? but her current location is an open space. You change right where she works with windows that have tiny blinds somewhat open that are facing a small parking lot. Not my jam, lol. Made for a super awkward changing station. - I could have gotten over the prior point, but I had such a disappointing experience with what I wanted. I went to La for the sole purpose of taking in a dress I'd be wearing for a friend's wedding. I wanted two main things from my alterations: 1. To have it taken in around the waist where it billowed, and 2. To ensure that my cleavage was covered adequately, yet remove the excess material. My issues were this: - At the first appt, after I'd changed, she immediately went to work with her suggestions, which OK no big deal - I'm happy to hear how you'd think it look better, but make sure you know what *I* want, too. - She focused so much on selling her suggestions, that she went straight to cutting things! She snipped off my straps to make a point of how it'd look better straight (vs at the back they were X across the shoulder blades). I told her no thank you, please put them back the way they were before. I would have been ok with all of that, but when I came back for my 2nd appt to try-on/pick it up, I realized she never paid attention to what I wanted with the dress (point #2 above), and she'd left my straps the way SHE wanted it. I'm a busty girl. #2 was not fixed to my liking at all. She took out too much fabric over my chest, so where I had an issue before of too MUCH fabric -- now I had too little to work with. I literally went to put on my heels to check the length with the dress, and my entire top snapped open. She had to add a huge clasp after appt 2 just to ensure that I wouldn't bust out. And that still wasn't enough. Day of, I had to work with a shitty safety pin to ensure it would stay closed. I'd stressed at our initial appointment that I didn't want a ton of cleavage showing. That I wanted to raise where the button clasped the fabric together so there'd be minimal cleavage. I honestly have no idea what La was thinking. :( And now I'd be attending as a bridesmaid for my friend's wedding in a dress where my cleavage was BUSTING out. Yeah, not my cup of tea. At. All. I was mostly pissed about the cleavage. Just ahhh. I wore the dress that day because I didn't have a backup. I was self-conscious about my cleavage the whole night. I threw it out once the night was done. The dress was originally so pretty, too. That's how much I'd hated the changes. Soo... yeah. La, I'm sure you're a lovely woman. I don't know if there were just a bunch of misunderstandings because you were rushing or what. I honestly have no idea.

La did a great job on my suit. She's very sweet and kind and she knows her stuff. She's very reliable and she made my suit fit me perfectly. Thanks again La!!

La did an INCREDIBLE job on my wedding dress. I brought her two wedding dresses from Torrid and she took the top of one and the bottom of the other and made a whole new dress! She added lace sleeves, adjusted the neckline into the deep V that I wanted, added about 4 inches to the dress, and added a lace detail at the bottom. As a plus size bride, I was terrified that I wouldn't find a dress that I loved, and La was so kind and helpful in suggesting the MANY alterations that made my dress as flattering as it was! The price was very reasonable and the craftmanship was fabulous! I couldn't recommend her more! (One tip: when you type in the address in your GPS, it won't take you exactly where you need to go. It took me about 20 minutes to find it, but it was worth it! Once you get to the building, drive toward the back and look for a back entrance. You enter that hallway and find suite 101A that way.)

I had just gotten off the phone from a rather unpleasant conversation with La regarding a bait-and-switch situation with pricing. To recount a bit of history, I initially brought a set of scrubs to be tailored back in January, and La did an excellent job with that set. After that great experience, I brought three other sets of scrubs to be tailored in the same exact way a few weeks ago. La did not give me an invoice with pricing, so I asked her if it was going to be the same price as last time, and she told me yes, although she would have to look back at her records to see exact price. The alterations were supposed to be ready on 5/22/21 before I had to leave town, but there was a delay, so my wife had to pick them up on my behalf when they were ready today - no big deal because I wasn't in a hurry to get them back. After making arrangements to have them picked up by my wife, and even confirming again that the price will be the same, La manages to charge my wife a total of $10 more than previously promised. I call La to inform her that I was disappointed that the price she charged was not the same as we had discussed, and her response was very concerning. She told me that she looked up her records for how much she charged me the first time, and that it was a really good price, so she had to charge me extra. She further told me (and here's the kicker) that she can refund me extra $10 charged, but she will not be able to do any more business with me because she can't have customers expecting her to do things for the same price forever. I tried to explain to her that the only reason there was an expectation that the price would be the same is because when I initially inquired, she said it would be the same. Had she told me in the beginning, "No, the prices will be a little bit higher this time by a total of $10", this would have been a non-issue. I expect the people I do business with to be honest, and if they give me their word, it does not change just because my wife is going to pick up the items instead of me. If she felt like she couldn't do the alterations for the same price in the future, she could have also told me that she looked back at her records and the price was really good, and while she will honor it this time because she had promised, in the future, it will be a little bit higher. But she did not do any of this. She did end up issuing the refund, and while I was annoyed by the fact that she did not feel like she did anything wrong in this situation and felt so high-and-mighty as if she didn't need my business, I was just going to leave it alone. I really was not planning to write a negative review because it's a small business and I like supporting small businesses. I recognize that it is not easy to do business, especially during a pandemic, so it pains me to have to write this review. However, my wife just sent me photos of the work La did and it's terrible. There are threads coming loose and unravelling, thread colors not matching, stitching not in alignment, and stitching too tight, causing the fabric to pull. I have attached photos for your reference and you can be the judge of the quality rendered by this establishment. Normally, I would have brought it back to her to correct, but since she said I am not allowed back, the only recourse I have is to write this review and take the scrubs somewhere else to be repaired. Edit: She did end up refunding me for the three items of poor quality, like she said she would in her response.

It's not like La needs another 5 star review, but I'm going to write one anyway! After I purchased my wedding dress, I worried for 9 months straight about what it would actually look like on me. And then when it arrived, I thought I would be relieved, but I continued to worry. Enter La. She is knowledgable, she is thorough, and she can be brutally honest, but that's only because she has your best interest in mind. For the first time in 18 months, I felt a sense of calm, knowing that my dress was in good hands. That shit is priceless. You have to be flexible with scheduling. She often calls to reschedule because she gets backed up. But no matter the deadline, she will get it done. My best friend called La 4 days before we left for the wedding because another tailor had botched her bridesmaid's dress. La came to the rescue as she always does. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of the best decisions I made when it came to the wedding. Thank you, La!

This review is wayyyyy overdue. La was amazing! She not only altered my wedding dress to fit perfectly, but she also was able to take my grandmother's dress (which was 70-year-old fabric that had been handstitched in Switzerland after WWII) and turn it into a beautiful reception dress that I was able to wear at my own wedding in Switzerland. I would highly recommend her for any alterations!

La tailored my BHLDN dress specifically to my body type. She was very detail oriented and spent a lot of time ensuring that the boning was just right for my special day. I will say that her tailoring may be more expensive than other places in the Plano area but that is because of the time she puts in and the custom details that other tailors may not see. For example, La opened the neckline of my dress which I would have never thought about and it made a huge difference. I would recommend La for your wedding dress needs - she is very kind and attentive!

Just got back from the Alteration Station with my tailored suit. I work in a profession that requires a suit and I love to look good. With these things in mind I highly recommend the Alteration Station. When I took my baggy, unfit suit to the store the tailor La helped me. She spent about an hour going over all the changes she could make to the suit to make it custom to me. She is genuine, funny, helpful, and I trust her advice. To say I felt valued as a customer would be an understatement. After picking up my suit I have decided she will now be my preferred tailor. The suit looks incredible, compared to baggy and "grandpa"-like before. Not only does it look great, she also got it done much quicker than other tailors I called and at a fair price. I am almost hesitant to write this good review for fear that more people will discover her and it will be too busy for me! Joking aside, give Alteration Station a try. You will be impressed! read more

La is an amazing seamstress. She altered my wedding dress and did a phenomenal job. As one could imagine, I was extremely nervous about having anyone work on my wedding dress, but La handled it with extreme care and perfection. For convenience, I scheduled an appointment to see her. She was flexible and able to meet with me after work. During my first fitting, I told her what I was looking for and she listened intently. She's a very experienced seamstress so she was able to provide feedback as well. I truly appreciated her feedback because I didn't want someone to just agree with me. I wanted a seamstress who would provide honest feedback that would help make my wedding dress the best it could be. La did exactly that! She provided me with great tips that altered my dress into a form fitting, comfortable master piece. She suggested that I change out the type of straps using a different fabric so that the straps wouldn't cut into my skin - something that wasn't even on my radar. Of course, a seamstress could just say such things to increase the cost of her job but La was honest and wanted the best for me. When she showed me what she meant, it was the perfect suggestion. Even though I'm not a bigger girl, the type of material used for the original straps did actually dig into my skin, not complimenting my figure. With La's recommendations, my dress fit like a glove (no indentations), and the new straps allowed me to dance freely and comfortably all night. I wholeheartedly trust La and will use her for all my alternation needs moving forward. She's super talented, optimistic, kind and funny so you will not only get a great altered product but you'll also have a good time too! Important Note: La's store has moved locations so definitely give her a call if you're having a difficult time finding her. I was so scared she went out of business - because I appreciate her services so much - but she actually just changed locations. Phew! read more

I usually don't do reviews however I was so pleased by the work that was done by Ms. La that I couldn't help review on the work done. What I liked the most was how she could look at an item and redo to fit me exactly. I lost weight and dropped a few dress sizes she was able to save several of my favorite and they look even better now. This is my go to alteration place. I will post a before and after of a skirt that suppose to be in "style". I liked the skirt and fabric but the style on me was too long and frumpy. Before deciding to return it I wanted to see what she was able to do. I've gotten lots of compliments on the final look. "Where did I buy it?" And how cute it was. A friend recommended I go here. La did an excellent job with my formal gown. I needed the dress hemmed and the straps taken in a bit. She took the time to help me decide if I wanted her to create a train or just a regular hem. She even helped me pick the right shoes for the dress... I was torn between two styles. She was reasonably priced and the job was complete when she said it would be. I highly recommend Alteration Station and will definitely go back for any alteration needs. PS.. I went to La at Alteration Station for some minor alterations I needed on my wedding dress. I really wish I could have given her a five-star review, but unfortunately, I was just not satisfied with the work. The service was impeccable (and she was so nice to work with), but the work product was (sadly) not. After our initial meeting, where she pinned and identified the alterations needed, she asked me to come in four weeks later for the second fitting. We scheduled a day and time, and when I came in at that scheduled time, the dress was not ready. She had said she was very busy that day, but she had had four weeks to do the alterations. I had to sit and wait for an hour while she sewed enough of it to do a second fitting (even though the alterations were not complete as originally promised). Also, when the alterations were finally ready for me to take the dress home, I noticed that there were several fake pearls and beads missing from the top portion of the dress. When I asked her about it, she said it had come like that, but the dress was a new Mori Lee dress, so I just don't see how that's possible. When I asked her to fix it, she sewed one very cheap-looking sequin to replace the missing pearls and beading that were missing - it did not match. I ended up resigning myself to fixing the dress on my own, which I did the week before my wedding. The dress had very intricate beading and pearls, so it wasn't hard for me to find some of each in non-discreet locations to fix the top part. I'm not a seamstress and I was able to fix it. Also, she had missed a few things she originally told me she would do, and that disappointed me. Bottom line - she's so very nice, but I would not recommend her to do alterations on a wedding dress, or at least not one with intricate beading like mine was. read more

I recently got my wedding dress back from La and I absolutely love it! I thought I loved my dress when I first bought it but I had no idea how much better she could make it look. As you can see from the pictures, she took quite a bit in at the chest and waist. She also brought the lower back down a little so it was not just straight across to make it more "sexy" and flattering. Lastly, she sewed the sash into the dress and added the bustle and the bow to the back. She did an absolutely amazing job and her prices are very reasonable! I would highly recommend La for any alterations you need. read more

I just had my wedding dress altered at the Alteration Station. The owner, La, did an incredible job. I could not have asked for anything better. She had a keen eye and truly wanted it to be 100% perfect!! And perfect it is! She took in the sides, lifted, added in a bustle and more!! I cried when I put on the final master piece. She also does dresses, suits and other clothing that I saw other very satisfied customer pick up. She cared to build a relationship and is one of the sweetest ladies I have met in Plano!! If you need any major alteration, this is the place to go. Ms. La knows how to alter the dress to fit your body! I had a bridesmaid dress that need major alterations done since the dress was a size 16 and I usually wear 8-10. I have lived in north Dallas for five years and after trying four different alteration stores, finally found Alteration Station and I am so very happy. La went above and beyond on my wedding dress. When I first came in, she studied the shape of my body and the details of the dress. She had a vision for how it would best complement my shape, and she executed that with perfection! The dress was absolutely stunning! I am not a person who feels confident wearing dresses, but when I put on this dress, I felt like a new person. LA is by far the most amazing tailor I've ever seen. Her work is specifically customized for you and your style. She makes suggestions that I never would've thought of and she is never wrong in that regard. She is personable, her hours are great for the working individual, her lead times are always accurate, and she makes sure that she is always accessible for her clients via phone, text, and in person. I have been going to LA for the last 2 years and rarely do I ever make a clothing purchase without her customizing my fits. Wow!! So impressed with La and her work! I bought my dress from Davids Bridal in February and knew I wanted to take it in a little in the waist and hip area. I bought a size 8. I went back to Davids Bridal on 5/4 for my first appt. The lady pinned me up and added a few loops in back for the bussell. Cost was $175. They told me come back 5/30 to pick up and try on. I started a fitness challenge on 5/15 and lost 8 lbs and about 12 inches all over. When I tried on the dress I could tell it was still big but the girl at Davids Bridal didn't say anything so I paid and took my dress home. On June 4th I decided I needed to try on my dress again. It was so baggy. Especially in the waist area. It was bulgy and not form fitting like I would like. I was starting to freak out since we are leaving 6/28 for my beach wedding and didn't know if I could find sometime to fix it so fast. I called Alteration Station and La told me to come in that day! She said she could have it ready 6/21 so I could try on and see if anymore alterations needed to be done. That afternoon La pinned my waist up and said she would add boning to the sides to give it a more smooth look. She made my dress look perfect! I said yes to everything. She even fixed my bussell. It was going to cost another $150 but I didn't care. She did an amazing job in such a short period of time. I picked up my dress on Thursday 6/22 and it looks gorgeous! I couldn't be happier! I'm so glad I called her and didn't settle for a loose fitting dress!! read more

The best tailor I've been to in my life, and I've been to many including professionals in NYC. She literally sculpts the clothes to your body in a way that I didn't think was possible or even economical. Her prices are very fair and unbeatable for the quality and skill. I just can't tell y'all how impressed I am! I came here for my wedding dress. I didn't even know my dress needed so much alterations until I got here and La explained and pointed out each detail that would improve the dress- and she was right! Each time we made a change even if I was hesitant it looked better each time and I'm left with a gorgeous gown that fits me perfectly and enhances my body type. I really recommend her to anyone especially if it is your wedding dress. She took such great care of me as was a pleasure to see each visit. Very fast and priced well priced. I needed a bridesmaid dress altered and everywhere else told me they would have to put an extra charge to have it completed within two weeks but the owner of Alteration station just told me to come on in! Very professional, measured me and suggested boning and lifting the dress up instead of just hemming the dress and it turned out perfect. Only took a week to complete. Wonderful service and tailoring! I had 2 suits (pants, skirt and jackets), 3 blazers and my favorite favorite pair of jeans altered. The pants were taken in and shortened, the skirt was shortened a tad, the jackets were taken in and sleeves shortened. The jeans were patched in worn areas. She helped me decide how to size each item and did an amazing job altering. I paid about $125 for all of it and considering the amount of work, quality of work and number of items, great price! read more

UNDERSERVICED AND OVERCHARGED I did not have a pleasant experience here. In my case, I left 2 dresses to be altered for my daughter's wedding. Not a formal wedding so they were just knee length dresses. She said she would have them ready the day before the wedding. So I scheduled my appointment to pick them up. I called the day before going to make sure she was going to have my dresses ready and they were not finished. She wanted me to come the morning of the wedding and I couldn't possible do that. She said she could finish one. What am I going to do, so I went to get the one dress. She had obviously put wedding dresses in front of mine. That seems to be her specialty. She charged me over $60 for simple alteration. I scheduled a week to pick up the other dress and when I showed up it was still not finished. Had to wait another week for my dress. She said she had to finish a wedding. When I picked it up today the charge was $97 for the alteration of one dress and shorten the hem of another.....May I tell you I didn't even pay that much for the dress!! And it is a Neiman Marcus. So, let me advise you, if you don't have a wedding, which is obviously how she makes the most money, I would suggest you take your alterations to Plano Tailor right on the other southwest side of Independence and Coit. She is amazing and so reasonable. I've had excellent results there and the only reason I did not take my dresses there is because Plano Tailor was closed for 2 weeks for holiday. BTW, she does weddings as well and I would bet you will save a lot of money by going to Plano Tailor. I am not related nor am I affiliated with Plano Tailor, just plain, positive experience and fair prices. read more

10/10 - Highly Recommend! La is the queen of alterations! This is the second time I've come to her with a dress emergency, and she has rescued me every single time -- first with my engagement dress, and then with my wedding dress. She's the best in the business at an unbeatable price. I unfortunately ordered my wedding dress online, and it arrived 2 sizes too big with not a lot of structure. It made me look like I was drowning in fabric and had no shape. La took in my dress and completely transformed it with expert tailoring and creative suggestions that took it to a whole other level. The structure and changes she added was incredible -- it felt like a completely different dress! I'm giving a conservative 4 stars rating, but service was worth so much more. I made an elegant entrance when I walked into the event! No one looked better in the ballroom. (I have also enjoyed reading ALL the other reviews on this page about Miss LA's beautiful creations at Alteration Station.) I've been told that I am "picky." So, I have been searching for a dress maker who would be patient, a good listener, detail oriented, and creative to improve on my ideas for design. Miss La did exactly that! She designed an original red cocktail dress for me from a magazine picture. She even met me at the store and helped me select the fabric. I looked like a million bucks! I have been going to La, with Alteration Station for the past 15 years for my alterations. As a matter of fact, La made my wedding dress. La is an amazing seamstress/designer and gets a five star PLUS rating from me. La is a perfectionist and the thing that I find refreshing about La, is that she goes out of her way to please her customers. If you have any concerns, if you bring them to La, they will be fixed, no problem! Over the years, I have referred countless people to La and every single one has been very satisfied. My wedding dress was made out of three different types of silk along with crystals around the bodice. My dress was designed and made by La. It was EXQUISITE. When I walked into the church, I heard an audible "gasp" and I still receive compliments to this day. I bought this dress from a store in downtown Dallas. They talked me into buying a size way bigger than love ever worn. It was huge on me! This dress was a challenge because La needed to build a foundation on the bodice sides to make it fit correctly, not to mention the large amount of dress that needed to be made smaller. She could have (and should have) charged me more, but she didn't go over a penny of what she originally quoted. I also had her do my daughters bridesmaid dresses. They all fit perfectly! I have been going to La at Alteration Station for 20 years and recommend her highly. She has altered many items for me and has altered things for my husband and all four of our children. She is reasonable and does excellent work. In addition, she designed and made the wedding dress for our oldest daughter who was living in Wisconsin at the time. She advised us as to where we could get the best price on fabric. Our daughter had 3 fittings with La and was thrilled with her dress when it was finished. I was really looking forward to trying this place, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to find it. It's located in a large building with multiple suites, which made it difficult to locate. I drove around the building several times, walked around, and tried calling the listed number multiple times for assistance, but unfortunately, I never received a response. La has provided nothing but fantastic work, if she is running behind she calls ahead and let's us know, but it's usually so she can get the outfit looking just right. She fixed some of the "fitted" dress shirts which are fitted for the average person, and took them from baggy looking to slim fitting and sexy. I plan to use La as long as she is open.
