Because this tailor collects her money BEFORE she alters (I now know why), she overcharges for her service, takes almost 2 weeks to complete a pants hem, and then refuses to fix her mistake on one of the pant legs, creating a very unhappy client and the reason for this review. She kept my money and I have pants I can't wear until I find a tailor with more integrity and concern for their customer. read more

Grossly overpriced! I had three pairs of jeans and one pajama pants, all of which needed a simple hem. I was appalled when told that the cost PER pants would be $35 plus tax! Based on my height, Ms. Alla could have easily guessed that I have my pants hemmed often, so it should not have been surprising that I deemed the cost to be inflated. My service would have required a mere scissor cut to the pants followed by a basic sewing machine stitch, approximately 5 - 7 minutes of work per pants. Considering the service requested, I am curious how she established $35 as an appropriate and reasonable price. I can't seem to understand how I'd be asked to pay $140 (not including tax) for a job of that nature. Perhaps my simple job was not worthy of her time. Though she is noted as a professional tailor, I think it is important to recognize that one's level of professionalism is also based on integrity. I have brought dozens of clothes to Allen Tailor over the past few years and all have been done perfectly! She has done everything from basic pants hemming to tapering my dresses and jackets. My bf doesn't have a standard build so it is hard for him to find fitting clothes at the stores, but this tailor was able to custom fit all his clothes. She is very nice, attentive to detail, and gives very good advice.  I love that she is available on Saturdays and dedicates her time to make sure all my needs are met. Did a great job! The lady is super nice and very personable. She can get the job done well and quick. We heard about her from Sarar at Allen Outlets, as she was the recommended tailor. We trusted her with pants for a wedding reception, and they turned out great. She is a bit pricey, but I'm used to getting my suits made in India for $150 so I'm a terrible judge on price. When my pants were not tailored to my specifications she became defensive and said "that's what you told me" (it wasn't) and also said "that's a popular style...ill make the change for free this time".
