Very unfortunate customer service. Came to collect my outfit and I was received by Anthonio(?) who was unbelievably rude and abrupt. He firstly didn't know where my outfit was, he then very dismissively told me to come back the next day because it wasn't ready (without even checking!) and when he finally found it, his delivery in general was unprofessional and rude. It was a bit of a rip off for the alteration I needed but more than that I was greeted with a negative attitude and sorry but i would rather pay more at another tailor who are kind and courteous! My advice to the guy who works there, try to smile and speak respectfully to the people who come in to your business... it won't hurt and it's free to be kind! The BEST alteration business in Orange County! I have been going there for years and have never had any problems. I am always beyond satisfied with their work. I recently moved to Rancho Santa Margarita and instead of going down the street to get my alterations done, I drive 45 minutes to get my alterations done here. There is no other place that even compares to their work. Not only is the work good, but the customer service is excellent. Everyone that works here is friendly and personable. Don't even want to give a star. Where do I start...first I go take my fabric I bought to get a sash made for my wedding this Tuesday I take it on a Monday make it clear I need before Sunday since I'll be out of town getting married. I go Friday the promised date it would be ready not ready okay no biggie I'll come today. I go right before closing and it's still not ready. Might I add I don't live in the area either so making several back and forth trips not cool. So he tells come back to in the AM. Them says no come back on an hour. Why do I need to keep coming back for a sash so simple! Then maid of honors dress totally wrong too. She wanted to add a strap to her strapless dress it looked like they just used the extra straps the dress came with. When she asked for it to be made with the extra fabric. Oh and my sash looks bad!!!! He still charged me full price for my sash even after all the trips and inconvenience. Just wow! Never again here. Sad I recommended this place to ppl. Took my bridesmaid dress here to get altered & have the built in bra pads lowered. When I went back to try it on the one pad was higher up and one was lower and also noticed that a patch of sequins were missing on my dress where it was very noticeable and was not like that when I had dropped off the dress. He pretty much gave me attitude and stated that the dress looks perfectly fine and no one would be able to fix it for me how I wanted. If the dress looked perfectly fine do you think I would be paying money to get it fixed?! I felt like he wasn't listening to me at all on what I wanted and is very impatient. Only reason I didn't give one star is because he did give me my money back. Took it to Original Hems and they were able to fix it for me no problem! So def won't be going back here.. read more

This shop is average for everyday clothing alterations. If you have a gown or an important item of clothing, you're taking a big risk! I made the mistake of taking my daughter's sweet 16 gown here to be shortened. After being measured and having the gown chalked, the dress was cut too short. When I had my daughter try on the altered gown that was clearly too short, I asked if there was something that could be done with the extra material. I never said it was their fault or asked for a refund! I just asked if he (I believe it was the owner) could help using the extra material. He was so rude an unprofessional, blaming me.and stating that there's nothing that he could do. A true professional would offer solutions or at least apologize! read more

I'm impressed by their work! I brought my bridesmaid dress to the Alteration Center to have it tailored and hemmed from a long Size 10 to a short Size 6. These guys are quick and do good quality work. I was able to purchase a Yelp Deal and my $50 dress alteration only cost me $20. After picking up my dress I decided I wanted it hemmed another 3-4" so I brought it back and they quoted me 1/2 off a normal hem. I admit, it was my fault to not have hemmed it to the right length in the first place. I wanted a short dress and only asked them to cut it to a tea length. I just have to say... these folks at the alteration center have been really, really super! They've been with me through all of my ups and downs... in weight, that is! Sorry to say, I have gained and lost weight... more times than I can recall. And these wonderful people have seen me thru it, every single time! I've had them open up and enlarge many shirts & pants, and also shrink some down a size... and sometimes back up again, to my embarrassment!!! I cannot even count how many years I have been going to this place, but it's been a long, long time! I had an emergency the other day, and ran in there at the last minute - and even though I am sure they were more than ready to head home, these sweet ladies graciously helped me out... and fixed me up in just a few minutes! Real life-savers... I'm telling ya! Now... don't all you folks do like me, and head in there at a moments notice - just 'cuz I said that!!! But I just had to point out how kind and helpful they've always been - not just the other day, but always!!! I don't even live that close anymore - but I wouldn't take my things anyplace else, believe me! I have recommended them over and over - and here I am, doing it again! I've taken projects here before and always enjoyed the service. But today I needed a LOT of alterations because I'd dropped two sizes this year (great problem, right!?). Not only was Rodica fun to joke with as we looked over my now-baggy clothes, but she was also efficient and really sensitive to helping me choose which clothes to alter and which to just replace. We also brought in some suits for my husband and one was just plain too big for him and would have to be altered everywhere. Instead of trying to sell us on every alteration possible, she helped us discern what was really worth it - including encouraging us to take the suit back and see if we could just get a smaller size. Excellent customer service. I have taken many different types of things in to have fixed or tailored and they have always been able to do it for me at a very reasonable price. Occasionally, I have needed a repair sooner than later and they were able to do the same day. My husband actually found this place a month ago. I had originally sent him to our dry cleaners in the middle of the day - to have a gown pressed for a black tie dinner that evening. Crazy - as I guess most of the dry cleaners do not do the service at their store - so our dry cleaners as well as a few others - were unable to press (steam) the gown. Not quite sure how he found this place - but it's truly a hidden gem. Since then, I have about 20 pieces of clothing to have altered - hems raised, waist taken in - and she has totally updated my wardrobe. Her prices are totally reasonable and she is just the sweetest! She gave me her honest advice about not altering any of my pants - as the pockets would look totally funny! My husband took some expensive jeans here to get altered and they did a great job on them. A few months later I had a swim suite that I wanted to see if they could alter so I took it to them and when I asked the guy who was working if they even can alter swim suites he grabbed a handful of them and said, "Sure we can". I bought a white lace dress from Abercrombi and it was totally see-through. I brought it here so they could sew extra lining into the dress. They told me I needed to bring in the fabric for them to sew in. I bought fabric from JoAnne's and gave it to the alteration center. They sewed in the fabric and the dress was no longer see-though, I was so happy! They charged me $25 and I picked it up after 4 days. The first time I went to pick up my dress, they had only added the fabric to the upper part of the dress. There was a miscommunication between the guy at the counter and the guy who does the sewing. I needed the fabric added to both the upper and lower parts of the dress. So they had me return the next day to pick it up. The extra trip was kinda annoying but the dress looked good. I'll always go to this place if I need alterations. read more

My brother and I originally went there to get our $50 suit altered since it was too big for us, but the worker said since they were only a $50 suits that the time and labor to put into alter the suits would cost more than the suits were worth. He also mentioned that there was no guarantee that the suits would turn out looking good. We asked about if they did other alterations and found out that they fixed pockets with holes in them. A little while later, I brought in had two slacks with pockets repaired. The craftsmanship was excellent. The pocket felt just like the original pocket. The pockets are almost unnoticeable from the inside and the pockets feel just the same. No one knows that the pockets even had holes in them. The workers are friendly and helpful and will tell you when it is worth your money to have them alter it or not. Their prices are reasonable and you can pick up your clothes within a week. This place does expert alterations at a reasonable price, including complex work, and unusual, creative work done to customer specifications. I have had them invent very large cargo pockets for my ski pants, large enough to put long ski gloves into one (to replace my wet ones in the afternoon), plus a dry afternoon ski hat and wool scarf in the other. Fat guys sweat a lot! I had to provide them the proper matching material, but their work was terrific: properly sized, properly placed, and reliably stitched; I have skied with it for many years. When I have been in their shop, I have seen women with some pretty fancy dresses taken there for alterations, and all seemed quite satisfied. I am about to take in some new travel pants, made of a very light, quick-dry nylon, to have the Alteration Center add the cargo pockets that Cabelas should have designed into their top grade Guidewear II brand travel pants but did not. Great to know the job will be perfect based on my past experience with these folks. Plus I am going to have them alter my new rain pants and my girlfriend's prize new white ski pants, which need shortened by 6 and 8 inches, respectively. Both alterations are complex, needing to be shortened 8 inches up the leg (above boot zippers at the bottoms of the legs, and also below inner thigh ventilation zippers). Plus I am going to have them attach clip rings to an expensive down ski jacket. It is great to have a place like Alteration Center that I can trust to do the more complex alterations like these, and do them right, at a rational price to boot. Ditto for more common alterations. There are no communications problems, which is important when ordering alterations. Access and parking are very good. Alteration Center is located in the Von's market center on the southwest corner of the intersection of Tustin and Lincoln/Nohl Ranch Road in Orange, very near the Lincoln/Nohl Ranch exit off the 55 Freeway, which offramp is immediately after the transition from the 91 Freeway to the 55. read more
