Been coming to Laura and Andrew for 15 + years. It's now a woman run business- Andrew is no more, he was the more personable and loved one. Laura, his wife is quiet, equally talented, she has done more than her share to keep the place running alone with her husband's sudden loss. People write horrible things for her, honestly it's just who she is - cut and dry, if you are looking for EXCELLENT to the point alterations and don't care so much for a nice person on the face ( so to say ) I would come here. She's somehow running this place with great difficulty and I will continue to come to support her, till she can no longer do it. I've been coming here for at least five years. Have probably paid for alterations of several dozens of articles of clothing including suits, jeans, trousers, and jackets. Most of the time, the work quality was great. However, there have been at least two instances, if not three, where the work quality indicated what seemed like complete apathy. The attached video shows how they sewed on buttons on the cuff of my suit jacket over the inner lining. To have sewn eight buttons like that wasn't an accident. She consciously disregarded any sense of doing a proper job. When asked if she would fix it, she told me that's the way it's supposed to have been done. I knew she was lying because this wasn't the first time she'd altered a suit jacket for me. She'd done it several times before with no issues like this. I immediately took my jacket to another tailor and the other tailor confirmed that the buttons were sewn wrong and fixed it within two days. My main criticism isn't with the quality of work or the exorbitant amounts she charged me (I don't mind paying to help a small business that does an excellent job). I'd say I was pleased with 90% of the times I've picked up my clothes from there. What's bothersome is that she tried to play off the absolute poor quality as normal as either to offend my intelligence or just to express an "I don't give a f***." It's dishonest and/or manipulative, and that's ultimately why I will no longer take my business there. I'd give 1 star, but I want to give some credit to the majority of times I liked their work. read more

This place is a joke! Charged me double what I spent on the item that needed to be hemmed and I dropped it off on June 13. When I dropped it off, the lady was just sitting there doing nothing on her phone so I assumed they were slow. She told me it wouldn't be ready until June 29. When I went in today at noon to pick it up, she was sitting on her phone again doing nothing. She told me on the receipt it says to come back after 4 o'clock. What a joke! Do NOT use Unique Alterations. They are extremely rude, overpriced and my items were not ready as scheduled. My brand new pants were dirty and wrinkled when I picked them up. Go somewhere else. The lady was rude when I first came in to drop off my jacket. I sat in the lobby for 10 minutes while she walked back and forth in front of me before greeting me. It was as if my presence irritated her. Prices are a lot higher than other stores in the area and it took 2 weeks to get a 4 inch hole stitched. To top it off when I picked up my jacket I found 2 new holes on the bottom that 100% weren't there before. Came in for simple shortening of my dresses and left incredibly unhappy. I expressed my disappointment in how the dresses were barely shortened and the lady acted like my concern is meaningless to her. I had her work on it some more and came back a week later and they were still not good. I paid and left because I knew we were getting nowhere. When I came in to pick up my dresses she ignored me the entire time until I spoke up. If you want to pay way too much for simple work and deal with a rude seamstress then this is the right place. They did alterations on my wedding dress the years ago and did an amazing job. I had other places tell me they wouldn't be able to alter it or they charged close to half the price of the dress. This place made it for perfectly and he'll me feel beautiful on my special day with charging a crazy price. Warning! Do not go here!! On 6-7, I walked into the shop and saw a woman sitting in a chair. She slowly looked up at me, like I was bothering her. She said nothing. I asked about altering my shirt, she said it would be ready on a Saturday, two weeks from that date, 6-21. I paid, up front before leaving. I returned on the date that she gave me. She snatched the receipt from my hand and crossed off the date as she said, that's the wrong date and said come back on Monday (6-23), as she handed me my receipt. She blamed the cash register. On Tuesday (6-24), my husband went in to pick up my shirt. The woman said that it's wasn't done and to return in the afternoon. He remarked that it was supposed to be done on Saturday (6-21). She said, "no" because she had changed the date to Monday. He retorted, today is Tuesday. On, Thursday (6-26), my husband returned, surprised that it was "ready." Well, not really. She didn't finish the job!!!! She sewed two uneven, button holes and sewed two button on. She DID NOT cut the fabric all the way down, thus not sewing the edge down! She left the exposed edge as is, with the unfinished, uneven edge just hanging, along with exposed threads. Leaving the shirt unwearable! I feel robbed. I will NEVER return to be treated so rudely, unprofessionally and with such a shoddy outcome that is already in the trash! A waste of money and time. Came here to get a graduation dress altered and they RUINED IT! If you can't alter it right, don't even try. They cut the dress straight across and added a seam. Last time I checked every human has more to cover on the backside than the front. The dress barely covers the backside and is completely ruined. I've been coming to Unique Alterations for nearly 25 years. The quality of Andrews work is superior to others I've tried. I live in Corona and still drive this way to get my clothes tailored by Andrew. The price is reasonable for the value you get. For a shop in Anaheim Hills, rent is not cheap, yet they don't price gouge. I had tried a tailor in Corona that was terrible (craftsmanship and service) and charged almost 20% more than Unique Alterations. Andrew is reasonable and will tell you what he can and can't do. He's straightforward, honest and does quality work. I highly encourage you to give them a try. read more

This lady (owner) is beyond RUDE!! I just posted another review on google. She always has a smug look with NO customer service skills! I don't care what is going on in your life, if you are a business owner don't talk to customers like peasants! Her pricing is ridiculous, she changes it every time you come in. There is no price list it's whatever # she thinks based on how she's feeling. I've confirmed this because I did have her hem some pants on 2 different occasions. Same pant style, just a different color. I've also noticed she treats her assistant like crap! Not cool... I've seen that all 3/4 times I've been in. I only came back because I wanted to give them a chance and thought maybe she's just having a bad day, but after yesterday which was my 3rd or 4th time in, I was really disappointed. Her attitude not only with me, but also with the person that was there needing his suit pants hemmed, and the way she was speaking to her assistant, I will never go back! I cant imagine a more difficult job dealing with making sure the measurements are right, people's selfish attitudes, demands, and making everyone happy is impossible. The owner's keep a smile on no matter what. And finding and keeping the staff, who have to know what sewing and alterations to do, how to do correctly. I recently lost a lot of weight and went to take 2 blazers to get them altered. The owner I'm assuming (older lady) was so incredibly rude - the first thing she said go try on the jacket. DON'T BRING YOUR FANCY, EXPENSIVE STUFF HERE. SEE PICTURES below. They OVERCHARGE on the finer things and do a CRAPPY JOB that RUINS your items. So sad. 1. My daughter's wedding dress: a.) The bustle fell apart during her second dance (that's the father-daughter). Gee, thanks. Had to safety pin it! Beforehand, I just glanced at it, and it looked like it had been cheaply done, but we had a few other things on our mind the week we were hosting a wedding! And, as a non-tailor, you just assume they know better than you, WRONG! b.) The dress had 5 layers to be hemmed. They scissor cut (without hemming) 3 of them. I COULD'VE DONE THAT. 1 layer was netting, so that was ok, but the 2 lace layers frayed after being worn on the wedding day. c.) No attention to detail where they took it in on the sides, either. Lace was caught in side seam. Cost for this item: $340. 2. Same trip, they also RUINED my $200 Vince Camuto mother-of-the bride dress. It was a lovely, fully sequined dress and they put a run in it (from the inside) across the front chest area, obviously when they turned it inside out to take in. Totally visible, and btw, when you run a sequined dress, the sequins start to fall off after that. It was like having your new car scratched by the auto detailer before you drove it off the lot. And then the OWNER guy (Andrew) denied it and told me I must've bought it that way! Really, dude? The dress still had the tags on when I brought it in. (Read the other YELP reviews where this guy used the same tactic.) I tried to replace it before the wedding, but I had purchased it 6 mos in advance and waited till 2 weeks before to have it tailored so it'd fit perfectly. Was unable to replace it by then, so I had to wear it with the run. I cried (seriously). Cost for this item: $82 3. Same visit, I brought in a black leather skirt that needed to be taken in. When I got it home, I noticed they had taken it in from just ONE side (instead of equally from both sides) to avoid having to deal with a zipper slit on one side. Problem is, the skirt has darts and a center seam which are now off center. LAZY HACK JOB. I won't wear it now. Cost for this item: $46.40 4. I also brought in a lacy Liz Claiborne skirt to be taken in. They did ok with that for $19.20 The first three items were quality designer items. All tailoring jobs were expensive, and they botched all 3. Oh yah, and the owners got in a yelling match with me after I brought the above to their attention. So much for customer service! Icing on the cake: I had brought in their own coupon (30% off over $300, I think it was) and they WOULD NOT completely HONOR IT. Andrew said he wouldn't be making enough money on the jobs, so only gave me 20% off. (The prices listed above ARE 20% off.) My theory was to bring in a bunch of stuff to get the coupon price, and to bring it to the more expensive tailor in Anaheim Hills to have everything just perfect for my daughter's wedding. SO ANGRY with them for not giving a damn and not taking responsibility for their screw-ups, and with myself for not trusting my gut. The only plus is they didn't contest the bill when I put it in dispute with my credit card company. But when your fine stuff gets ruined, that's no win. My guess is (I'm being charitable) that the owner (and his wife?) are probably? very fine European tailors though they are lacking in customer service skills. I believe they have less experienced (or caring) employees who do most of the work. For example, Andrew did all the "pinning," and did so carefully and uniformly (bilaterally). When the work was done, however, (on my black leather skirt, for example), the sewing was unilateral. That would have been a timesaver for them (they did it to save from having to replace the zipper slit that is on one side), but the result was like getting a haircut on just one side. AND IT'S NOT WHAT I PAID FOR. And since it was pinned properly, I assumed it'd be sewn properly. To be honest, though, they had previously done a fine job on every day items, like hemming jeans. SO, take a chance on your every day stuff if you must, but at least put it on your credit card so you have recourse. If I could split this review into two, I'd give 0 stars for designer items, 4 stars for everyday items, if you don't mind being yelled at (and often waiting in line to pick things up). I have started to take all my pants here and some suits, they make everything fit perfect and the quality is phenomenal. I wear dress clothes for work every day and never have trouble with anything they've touched. I've taken over 20 pairs of pants and 5 suits here. They have tapered some that were super baggy and it certainly cleans up the look on each pair to be modern and professionally fit. Thank you and we'll be back when I get more clothes. read more

This was my first and last time coming here. The dry cleaners I go to recommended taking a jacket that needed alterations here. I should have known by the sign they have posted behind their service desk, that they are not trustworthy. It states, " we are not responsible for any belts." I left a pocket square in the jacket, fully expecting it to be there upon pickup. It wasn't. I asked for the pocket square and immediately was given a bad attitude from the older male working there. He blamed me for losing it. I wasn't warned to remove any accessories before dropping it off. I figured it wasn't a belt so it should be ok. I'm assuming they've had enough issues with "lost" accessories that they had to put up a hand written sign. Don't take your items here. read more

This is not my usual alterations place, but I was in a bind, so decided to take my item here. Needless to say, that will NEVER be happening again. I brought in a midi skirt that needed a slit made slightly higher (by literally a couple of inches at most). I dropped it off on a Thursday and the owner told me that it wouldn't be ready until the following Friday, which I was kinda annoyed about because it didn't seem right that it was going to take over a week to adjust a skirt slit, but I said that was fine. I came that Friday to pick it up and I ended up waiting 20 minutes for the skirt because IT HADN'T BEEN ALTERED YET. I literally stood in their lobby for 20 minutes waiting for them to alter a skirt that I had dropped off over a week prior. On top of that, it was so poorly done. The stitching isn't straight and the edges of the fabric where they increased the slit weren't cut straight either. Everything about the alteration job was incredibly poor and if I had known that it was going to be such a bad job, I would have just done it myself. I paid them way too much money for something that was poorly done and not even finished by the time that they had promised me. I strongly regret paying for my alteration in advance and giving them the benefit of the doubt. Needless to say, next time I am in desperate need of an alteration, I will drive to literally anywhere but this place. read more

Andrew does great work, but throughout the time I've been coming, every time I come across his wife she is so rude... no respect at all... so I just bite my tongue and just carry on business as usual with Andrew. Today, I went in and Andrew is not there, and won't be back for 2 weeks... So his rude wife tries to help with me such a negative attitude and a shitty demeanor. I couldn't stand it, so I just left. Never again am I going to this place or will recommend anyone in AH to go here. The man that works at the store is kind and friendly. The shop does good work too. Sometimes I bring in armloads of clothes and I don't keep track of exactly what I give them. One day I went looking in my closet for an expensive pair of pants which had been at the shop for a button to be reattached. I hadn't worn them since they visited the tailor so I went to the shop and asked the woman if she could check to see if they forgot to put it in my last batch of clothes. She insisted they would NEVER misplace any clothes. I pleaded with her to at least look. Without a word, she turned around and left. When she came back, she had a scowl on her face, and handed me my pants. She never apologized. If it wasn't for her friendly husband, I would never step foot in there again. read more

I cannot begin to explain how wonderful they are here! I came in with no appointment and a bridesmaid dress that needed so much work! Hem, cups added, boning moved, mesh overlay adjusted around the chest area, bustle add, and not to mention the dress was huge on me! I lost about 30 lbs since ordering it...what a mess! So it also needed to be taken in quite a bit on each side. I came in, was instantly helped, and was able to pick the dress up a week later. I am completely floored with how it fits so perfectly! They are a 30 min drive from me, but I will happily drive here any time I need alterations!! The alteration place I went to before wanted to charge me a ton more.
