We have used Kona Cleaners for over 10 years and, until recently, had generally positive experiences. In the past, when items were lost or damaged, they handled the situation professionally and took responsibility. Unfortunately, that level of customer service appears to be gone. We recently had a brand new custom sport coat cleaned -- a very expensive jacket specially made for my 6'6" husband. He wore it only a few times on vacation, came home, took it off, and I immediately sent it to Kona for cleaning. When it was returned, there was a noticeable burn mark on the shoulder/deltoid area along with a streak running from the top of the shoulder, exactly like damage caused by an iron that was too hot. When I called, they immediately picked the jacket back up, which initially made me believe they intended to resolve the issue fairly. However, after keeping it for five days, Carlos called and stated that he "asked the production staff" and because they claimed they didn't do it, Kona would not reimburse us. The conversation was incredibly disappointing. Carlos was rude, dismissive, and openly implied he did not believe us. He stated there was no one else we could speak to. After spending thousands of dollars with this business over the years, being treated this way over a clearly damaged item was shocking. To make matters worse, their customer service system is a mess. No one answers the main customer service number, and when calling individual stores, the employees often seem confused, difficult to understand, or act as though they have no idea what you're talking about. During this process alone, this happened to me at least five separate times. In one instance, I was placed on hold and never helped -- I finally hung up myself after waiting 17 minutes. The quality of service at Kona has slowly declined over time, but this experience confirmed that customer loyalty and accountability no longer matter to them. I would absolutely not recommend using their services, especially for high-end or custom clothing. read more

I signed up for Kona's monthly laundry plan, which states it covers "everyday clothing items such as t-shirts, jeans, undergarments, towels, and similar washable fabrics." I made sure to only bring washable items and left out anything that required dry cleaning. On 6/12/2026 at 12:30 PM, I brought my clothes in and was helped by Amanda, who was pleasant but firm in her position. I was told over 70% of my clothes were ineligible and needed dry cleaning. These were standard polos, chinos, and khakis. When I said I was fine with them laundering everything as-is, she refused, claiming my brands were too expensive to wash normally. On top of that, they wanted to charge $10 per garment for anything not covered under the plan. This is a clear bait-and-switch. Their own plan description covers washable fabrics, my clothes were washable, and they still found a way to reject them and upsell at $10 a piece. Dropped off 4 Levi's 501 jeans an hour before close and they were able to have them ready the following morning! Quick turnaround time which I wasn't expecting to be honest. I asked for medium starch on my jeans and to have them washed. They turned out great! The previous dry cleaners I tried didn't do as good of a job as Kona did. $10 per pair of jeans wasn't bad especially for the quick service! I'll definitely be back. Thanks! read more

Little late on this review as I was out of country but now I finally have the time to write it out. I would give this place ZERO STARS if I could. Came here 1/18/24 to get a blouse dry cleaned. When I came to pick it up, I noticed two of the hooks had been ripped off. Mind you, this blouse was a little on the pricier side, around $800. First off, when receiving my blouse after it had been dry cleaned, they didn't bother to notify me that the hooks had been ripped off. I came home, checked the blouse and found out myself. As a business, you should definitely ALWAYS check the clothing items before sending it back to your customers. Called them, told them about what had happened and they told me to bring it back and they can fix it. Fast forward a bit and I came to pick it up after it had been fixed, expecting them to find the hooks that had been ripped off and reattach them. NO. They decided to use different hooks that looked NOTHING like the original and tried to pass it off as ok. I demanded they either find the same hooks or reimburse me for the top. Unfortunately, their fine print states they can only reimburse up to 10x the charge for cleaning the item regardless of the brand/price. That's only about $150.. Miraculously, I came to the conclusion to settle it with my credit card company. As an American Express card holder, I was able to file a claim and get reimbursed in full for the item. The only thing that irked me to my core was trying to get Kona Cleaners to sign off on the form, stating they weren't able to fix it. I was going back and forth through email with a man named Carlos Diaz. Extremely unprofessional. I've attached some pictures regarding the email but will not be including the entire conversation. His attitude in the emails and the way he composed them show a LOT about his character. He was also hesitant to sign any forms although I CLEARLY stated what the forms were about... Why wouldn't you want to be cooperative so that it'd solve the issue for both parties? That's what I don't understand. Why was he so hesitant to begin with? ‍ Overall, the problem had been solved no thanks to them. I ended up buying the same blouse again and now I'm stuck with one that's completely unwearable. I came here with the impression they would do great work regardless of their prices. My impression of them was utterly wrong. I would definitely NOT recommend this place. I have been nothing but kind and respectful the entire time trying to figure out this dilemma, only to be returned with attitude and unprofessionalism. Go elsewhere. A couple of years ago, I was looking for someone to handle dry cleaning when my company paused the offer on special priced dry cleaning and drop off at my office. I always drove by Kona Cleaners when headed to work and decided to ask them about handling some sweaters and nicer jeans. It's along Taft - you can park on the street or they have a few customer spots available. (If you do the former, be careful when parking as the max speed limit along Taft is 45 mph.) The staff were professional and were able to get things cleaned and ready in a week. Pricing was pretty fair. read more

I came here due to good reviews. I was definitely wrong. This review is focused on their lack of customer service and alteration service. It took them awhile scrambling to find the three pants I dropped off to be altered. At first, they said the pants weren't ready. I told them I was promised that they will be ready in time because I have a wedding to attend to the following day. Sad to say, they didn't seem to care about the urgency of the situation. There were no apologies. The pants were not even ironed. To make it worst, the two pants were cut shorter than they should be. Unfortunately, I am not coming back to this place. While they do good cleaning work, their communication, pricing, and customer service leave a lot to be desired. For context, I work for an entertainment company that does a high-volume of dry-cleaning, including princess dresses, santa suits, etc. We started using them about a year ago when our previous cleaner ruined a batch of Santa suits. We negotiated a bulk-rate since we would be bringing in items so regularly, and this was noted on our account. Over the next few months, we brought in a variety of items, including ballgowns, all of which were charged at the bulk rate as agreed. The first time we brought items in, they did lose a small piece (a handmade collar for a princess dress), but they did credit us the value of the item, so I consider that resolved, despite the fact that losing a piece on our first encounter was a little worrying. This last week, I took in a thrifted wedding gown that we use as a costume. I was extremely clear to the man working that this was NOT to be treated as a wedding gown (steaming, pressing, preservation) and should be treated as a normal dress as this is worn to children's birthday parties. I was very clear that this was not an heirloom and was to be treated like any of the other dresses we bring in (standard dry cleaning). He called me 15 minutes later to ask me again if I wanted special handling, and I said again, no - this is not to be handled special and is to be given standard cleaning. A week later, I get a call from another woman working, who says she's "calling about the wedding dress and wanting to make sure I'm okay with the price" - the price in question was $330. This is over ten times the bulk rate that we have with this company. I said absolutely not, and she told me they had already done the cleaning. Why would you not tell me the price in advance? She then proceeded to tell me that I should have told them I didn't want the wedding dress process - I informed her that I did, twice, and that I was extremely clear. She told me that I didn't fill out the proper release form. How am I supposed to fill out a release form when the employee I dropped off with did not inform me there was one? She then told me she could go "as low as" $107. I told her that I knew for a fact if I brought that dress in any other color, it would have been charged at my bulk rate, and she said that "any gown" has to be $107. I then told her to look at our account - we have multiple gowns on records that were not charged at that rate. Eventually, she agreed to charge me "only" $61, still three times our usual rate. This was such a disappointing experience. While the work is good, it feels scammy to receive a call making sure you're okay with a price for work that's already been done. Its also disappointing to know that we have a bulk rate agreement with this company and they completely ignored it in an attempt to get hundreds of dollars out of us, despite being told no. While I don't this this particular employee was trying to scam us, I do think that this pricing/customer service system needs to be reviewed. Up until a few weeks ago this was my new go to cleaners. Friendly helpful staff, excellent cleaning, and reasonable prices. But a few weeks ago they ruined two pairs of jeans. These jeans have been dry cleaned numerous times at another cleaners with no issues. One pair was completely washed out of color and both had scrub marks which completely took the color out of the pants. The interesting point of the scrub marks is that they were both in the same place on both pairs of jeans. They claimed this was impossible which was exactly what I said and one pair was mine and the other my husbands. They took no responsibility and said there was nothing they could do. My entire dry cleaning order cost $88. The two pairs of jeans cost $18. Not one offer of compensation or apology just not their fault. Companies are only as good as their customer service and in this case they had none. I guess the good side of the story is I was referred by a friend to a wonderful cleaners closer to my home. Just want to warn others Kona does not stand behind their work. So disappointing. read more

I would like to share my extremely unsatisfactory experience with Kona Cleaners for the benefit of potential and current customers. I also want to bring this matter to the attention of the store manager. Here are the facts of my experience: On September 5th, I dropped off 8 pieces of clothing at their store. They returned 7 of them on September 8th. I noticed that one piece was missing, and when I checked the app, it showed "in progress." I thought it was fine and decided to wait. I continued to wait until September 19th, and the missing item still hadn't been delivered. I became concerned and called the office. The lady who answered the phone was very rude with an unpleasant attitude. She informed me that my clothing was still "in progress," even though it had been 2-3 weeks since I had dropped it off. She asked me to wait for one more delivery cycle, but I was deeply concerned. After several days, I decided to call again. This time, I spoke with Omar, who told me that my situation was unusual, and he needed to investigate. Upon further inspection, he discovered that my clothing had been misplaced. He mentioned that he needed to review surveillance footage to locate it and asked me to give them one more week. On October 3rd, Omar called me to inform me that they had found my missing item. He inquired whether I wanted it recleaned, and I agreed, given that it had been missing for an entire month. They recleaned it and delivered it on the next truck. However, I was astounded to see that they had charged me twice for this missing sweater. The recleaning fee was even higher than the initial cleaning fee. What was most surprising was that they provided no apologies for losing my clothing for an entire month, offered no compensation, and yet charged me twice. I was in shock, and I contacted the office to speak with Omar. He acknowledged their error and admitted that they shouldn't have charged me the recleaning fee. He assured me that they would reimburse me for the initial cleaning fee and the recleaning fee as a form of apology. As of today, October 17th, I have only received a refund for the initial cleaning fee. The recleaning fee is still on my bill. In recounting this experience, I want to emphasize how horrendous the service and communication have been from September to October for a single clothing item. It's evident that they don't prioritize their customers, and this is not how a business should operate. I hope that the founder or senior manager of Kona Cleaners will take note of this review. Needed to find a dry cleaner that could work fast. I dropped off a blend synthetic material button down and a whole blend coat with some caked in stains. They gave me a really quick turnaround, my shirt was ready the next day. My coat with the caked in stains required two more cleanings so I wasn't able to get it in the time frame I needed but that's alright bc they really worked with me and were kind enough to keep trying until the stains were out. The people here are really kind and attentive and friendly. It was all around a pleasant experience and I look forward to returning. They also do alterations. Setting up an account with them was really easy and they allow you to pay with card, even allowing for the tap/touch card functionality. I love that they don't use harsh chemicals as well. Great location with parking and close to the freeway but not in a super busy area so you can be in and out in a jiffy. I don't go to the dry cleaners often but they make me want to get more things cleaned. Definitely a go to type of place since they have good hours too. There's no additional fee, just leave the purple laundry bag out on the day you select for pick up and the cleaning is returned in as quickly as 2 days. Another magical time with Kona cleaners... accidentally spilled bacon grease all over my black jeans. Was thinking to buy new ones but then remembered this godsend of a place can remove any stain!! My pants are back to normal!! First time I came here, I washed a bright pink top with my free people new jean shorts and the the Jean shorts looked tie dyed with pink stains, Kona got that stain out within 24 hours and didn't charge me extra for it. I couldn't believe it. Customer service and cleaning service is amazing!! And they send the best coupons each month! Their cleaning place doesn't even have a smell, unlike some places I've been to. I recommend them to anyone and if you ever get to talking to some of their customers, most everyone says they have been trusting Kona for cleaning for years. It's just THAT great! I am not one to leave reviews, neither bad or good. I highly encourage you all to search for a different location as to this place has definitely left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Long story short, I dropped off my duvet with Karen a week ago, as of now I have not received it. I was told it would be ready on Saturday noon, went to pick it up and wasn't ready-- I was very reasonable about it being delayed. Omar informed us that it wouldn't be ready until Tuesday. Tuesday came by and never received a call which then led me to think they might be delayed and possibly ready the following day. Wednesday came still no call, I called and was told they would call me back. So I decided to take matters into my own hands and drove over there. As I asked them if they can check on my item, they notified me that they had no clue where my duvet was and would have to "look for it". As I requested to talk to a manager, Carlos came and informed me that they would have to look at their cameras. And not to mention, he refused to give me the owners information to be able to contact him. As of now, they said my duvet was sent to a different location and are trying to get it back to their store. To make a long story short, they not only took long to return my item ... they lost it !! I understand things happen but the lack of communication and accountability is unacceptable. This was my first time at Kona & definitely my last. Do not use! They will ruin your cloth! I dropped off a suit and a formal shirt that I was going to use for an event and all I asked them to do is just steam/Iron them. When I came to pick it up I noticed a big stain in the middle of the white shirt, I asked the associate she told me let me check but it is probably from the Iron, went and grabbed her manager Carlos who said let me check and after about 5 min he came and said that is how we got it. Brand new shirt with a stain ? I tried to ask him to do anything to it so I can wear it same day during the event he said he can't. Great place to dry clean! But I wouldn't recommend getting any repairs for suit jacket. I was told they can repair a hole in my suit jacket but the quality was well below average. Next time please let the customer if the repair is possible. I spent a $1000 on this suit and now the jacket is damaged. Now I have to take my jacket to another tailor to get the fabric re-weaved for $120. Update: The owner Dave apologized for the damaged suit and is paying for the repair! Came in today to have my scrub pants tailored. When I entered and approached the front desk the bell rang but nobody came to the front. I waited for about 3 min and then 2 employees exited the office to assist me. The office is right next to the front counter. One of the employees asked me what I was there for and I said that I needed my pants tailored. The first employee told me that the Tailor was using the restroom and that I needed to wait. The other employee asked me to have a seat. I said okay and it turned out that I was waiting for about 15 min. I have no problem with someone using the restroom, but they were just conversing with each other and didn't even bother to communicate or ask me if I needed anything. They could have got me started by asking me to change into the pants so that when the Tailor came out I would be ready. It was as if I wasn't there. No one likes to feel or be ignored. When I proceeded to leave neither of them asked me to stay. This is a result of very poor customer service. Used a weekly pick-up service for several months -- Tuesday pick-up and Friday delivery. The price is quite reasonable, and we had been generally happy until... There was a time when a number of our clothes went missing, and after multiple phone calls and texts over a few weeks, nothing happened (they kept saying they'd get back to me). Then just last week, our laundry was not returned on Friday without any notice. Texted on Friday night and Sat morning, and nothing happened. Called on Sat afternoon, and they told me to either wait till Tue or come pick up at the Huntington beach location. They said because they have too many customers, they cannot reach out to every customer that didn't get the laundry back in time... We won't renew the monthly subscription any more. read more

The service here is super speedy and the ladies working there are very helpful. Occasionally, I also drop off special throw blankets to get cleaned too. Kona even was able to carefully dry clean a Burberry Backpack of mine that was heavily soiled. Dry cleaning can get very pricey, so I am glad Kona offers points/rewards that go towards any future services. read more

I was using Kona cleaners for a year and I decided to let them clean my shoes. Check it out. I own 4 or 5 pairs of balenciaga sneakers. I brought two pairs in. One with graffiti writing. I pick them up and the one with graffiti writing is scratched. They tried to tell me it was there before! Which pissed me off. I don't do confrontation especially since they were taking care of me for a long time but at least own up to the fact u scratched a $800 shoe. I've brought in 30+ pieces to this cleaners since moving to Orange County, and 29/30 were fine but they ruined one of sweatpants. Ownership didn't agree, and didn't do anything about it. I dropped off about 18 pieces for laundry and dry cleaning and they said it would be ready by the next day. I went to pick up next day about 4pm and they said the 1 item was not ready due to it being a "luxury" item (it was a cashmere sweater), and it could not be dry cleaned. I picked it up a day later and did not look at it for a week because I was out of town for a conference. On returning, I take the sweater out of the bag and it was damaged beyond being wearable. The stitching was bunched at multiple places and there were small holes where the material looks like it was stretched. The price for this special treatment was $20~! I really like this dry cleaner. 1. Its super close to my house (most important) 2. They're really quick and they do their best to make sure to get it done the requested date 3. Even though they're quick, their quality does not lack one bit! 4. If they missed a spot, they re-do it without a problem 5. I have done alterations, dry cleaning, getting stains off - just about anything my laundry machine cant do and I have always had a great experience! They are a chain but not sure how other places are operated but I do recommend this place for you. Prices are fair. Its not the cheapest spot in town but for a great quality work, I don't expect to pay the lowest dollar amount. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Recommended! read more

A Wild Experience: The Story of Otherworldly Levels of Incompetence This is the story of how one simple dry-cleaning trip in Mid-June, turned into an adventure that lasted the whole summer because of incompetence at nearly every single interaction with Kona Cleaners and a violation of one of their customer's privacy. PART 1 - The Stain That Couldn't Be Removed and the Random Lady: The story begins on June 14th. I brought my wife's white engagement dress in to be cleaned. A few days after I picked it up, my wife realized that there was a stain on it next to the stitching. So I brought it back in on June 23rd and they took it back and said that they would fix it. I received a text on my phone the next morning that said it was ready and for me to pick it up. When I got there to pick it up, I saw that the stain was exactly the same as it was before. The cashier said sorry and that they'll try to remove it again...why in the world did I receive a text telling me to pick it up then? *sigh* I said OK, and he said that I would receive a call when it was fixed. Fast forward 4 days later: I never got a call, so I called them myself to see what happened...and I was told that the dress had been picked up 2 days earlier by some random lady. I told her that is impossible, as I did not pick up the dress and my wife has never been in Kona Cleaners. She called me back after saying that she talked to her manager, and she sent me a picture of the security footage of the lady that she alleged took the dress (the picture is attached to this review, however, I decided to protect the lady's privacy by covering her face with that yellow circle. Unlike Kona Cleaners, who gave me the picture with the poor innocent lady's face showing). I ended up getting a call from the manager (Athira) the following day letting me know that it was just a big misunderstanding and that they do still have my wife's dress to pick. I came into the shop, and lo and behold...the stain was still there lol. It was a bit smaller, but it's a white dress, so the size really didn't make a difference. Athira told me that I could get a refund for the cost of the dress, so I sent her the receipt of the dress, and she told me that I would receive a check in approximately 2 weeks once it was processed. This is the point in the story where you should be like "Wow, Kona Cleaners really is terrible, I'm definitely going to a local dry cleaners next time!...but wait didn't he say Part 1? How could there possibly be a Part 2?! All that needs to happen now is for the check to get processed and shipped to him, right?" Wrong. Part 2 - The Check: Part 2 begins with me receiving a phone call one week after Athira told me the check would be sent. The worker that called me and asked me if I had a receipt for the dress, and I let him know that I forwarded the receipt to Athira 1 week ago in person, and she confirmed getting it from me in person. He told me that it was probably just a mix-up because his computer listed me as "unresolved". He told me that he would call me back the following day to confirm everything was still OK. Instead, I received a call 3 days later letting me know that there was indeed a check for $150 being processed. I let him know that the receipt CLEARLY reads a total of $170.23. He said he'd make sure and let me know. I called them 2 days later letting them know that I would be leaving for 2 weeks to go on a trip, and Athira let me know that Dez (the regional manager) would be getting in contact with me later that day to confirm the check situation was figured out. He never ended up calling so I drove to the shop to see if someone there could help me, they let me know that they have trouble getting in contact with Dez themselves, and they said I could have the stained dress back, so I took it. I emailed Athira letting her know Dez never called, and she replied saying that the check would be ready in 2 weeks. I also got a voicemail from Dez the following day in which he said that I had told them $150 was the correct amount (total lie). Fast forward 2 weeks, I get home from my trip and there is still no check. So I emailed Athira asking what happened. No reply email, so I go into the shop the following day and she is there, and she calls Dez for me to speak with him on the phone in the shop, he tells me that there was a miscommunication by the workers in the shop (still never taking responsibility himself) when they gave me the dress back. He said that the check couldn't be processed unless the dress was in their possession, so who knows how long it would have taken for me to figure that out if I never went into the shop and talked to Dez myself. He told me that I would receive the check very shortly, and a week later I finally got it. GREAT cleaners. Super quick and friendly. I came in yesterday (Thursday) to drop of my items and realized I had left a few things at home, the employee had said to bring them by tomorrow (Friday) early and I should be able to get all my items together by the next day(Saturday), perfect. I arrived today around 9:30 and it's super busy and a holiday weekend is approaching so they quoted me Tuesday pick up for my additional items. I was bummed out BUT the employee offered to rush the items for me. I really appreciated this and she did it without any hesitation and was super kind! Excellent customer service ! read more

This company needs in front desk a good kind of people, they are not polite, unhappy, not professional customer service. A guy in front desk is nothing helpful. Even when I called to missing information nobody answered. I received my black color clothes shining because was burned when they ironed them. Expensive place bad service. read more
