I got a jacket tailored here. Good job on shorting the sleeves but for some reason the tailor here only sewed on 4 of the buttons on the sleeves instead of the original 6. Respectfully who does that? What did you do with the other 2 buttons? I'd love to know. Also the buttons that weren't taken were uneven so that makes me a bit sad. read more

Went to a few places that said they couldn't do what I was asking for, that the material was too thick for their machines. Tried this place and the lady behind the counter was swamped, but came in to ask what I was requesting. She didn't hesitate and said it would be fine, if it was urgent. It wasn't so she asked if she could have a week to do it, as it was prom season and perhaps the busiest time of year for her. I was grateful she would do it at all so I said, or course. A week later I went back and she had it completed. It looked better than I was expecting! We hadn't discussed how much it was going to cost so I was a little apprehensive. She is amazing! I got my jeans hemmed for $12 per a pair of jeans. Her customer service and excellent. She has a tremendous memory. When I dropped off my jeans, she just jotted down some info on a sticky note. I did not get any ticket. I got naturally worried. When I showed up to pick up my jeans, she knew right away that I was there to pick up the jeans. The same happened for my husband, too. I started my new job as a teacher and needed to get my work wardrobe altered. I brought in 4 dress pants to get hemmed (it's tough being 5' 1"), 2 dresses, and 3 skirts. I made the mistake of not bringing in the right shoes, so I had to come back another day to get everything properly pinned. She was able to get it done in one week! I was shocked and everything fit beautifully! I prepaid so picking up was super easy and fast. The lady here has incredible memory! Horrible service! Took 2 pairs of slacks (expensive) to be taken in after I'd lost weight. Tried them on for the owner to pin. When I picked the slacks up, it was close to closing so did not try on. My BIG mistake!! The slacks were horrid! Slipped them on without taking the zipper down, still SO baggy and the hip area ballooned out. When I told the owner I was not satisfied she commented that she did not take the waist in that's why they were baggy. Really??? She pinned the waist, why would she not alter. Anyway, after paying $86.00 for the terrible alterations she was willing to fix them for an additional fee. Really bad service, terrible alterations. I've been coming to this store to see Elizabeth for almost 20 years now. She does excellent work and I'd never go to anyone else. She has altered everything from regulars pants, suits, coats and for me also many stage costumes with beading and linings. Some of the bad reviews here are dumbfounding me. I don't feel like they have had custom alterations before. Some things are pricier because she is making custom alterations and some things take a lot more time and hand work. Anyway - she's great and you should come here for high quality work and care with your delicate fabrics and pieces. read more

Service was good. It took a while to get my alteration back. Don't prepay or make certain you have a copy of payment when you pick up your item. I prepaid with cash and didn't get a receipt of prepayment, unfortunately she didn't have it logged as paid so I paid twice for my alteration. Learning lesson for me and for you. Payment is logged on paper not in a computer just make sure you clearly have payment written and signed if you prepay. read more

I have been using the services of Alteration Express for a Few years now. I have never had a problem. She pins the garment whether it be taken in or just a hem. It's always done in one week and the price is reasonable. I had one fancy dress that was sleeveless with a jacket and the edge of the material by the arm was scratchy and rubbed my skin raw. She sewed some material over the area that matched the dress and solved the problem. The dress had a jacket so it was perfect. read more
