Kalua pig plate with poi & Lomi Lomi
Christine V.

Want the luau food experience without paying for the actual luau show? This is a great option! It's an outdoor restaurant, so definitely dress accordingly. If it's drizzling outside, you can bet you'll probably be drizzled on while eating your meal too! But the setting is beautiful, especially if you get a table around sunset--you can watch the sunset right from your seat. There are plenty of food options to choose from, along with lots of drink options. The restaurant sits right next to Old Lahaina Luau, so if you make a dinner reservation around luau time, you can even hear the luau going on next door. They had traditional Hawaiian food such as poi, lau lau, kalua, etc. Service was good as well. Overall, a fun way to enjoy some of the food and atmosphere without paying for the full luau experience!

Aloha mixed plate is a nice place to eat. Seating is covered and open. I ordered the Ali'i plate which is actually a Hawaiian plate. The Lau Lau was small, but very good. The Kalua pig was flavorful, but a bit on the salty side. The lomi lomi salmon was good, and the small cup of poi was barely enough for half of the Lau Lau. I understand the poi is tossed majority of the time, but for those who enjoy poi (mainly locals), the small amount of poi is not enough for the Hawaiian food. Overall, the service was good. Our servers were friendly and helpful. If you're in Lahaina, stop by Aloha Mixed Plate for a nice meal. The menu will definitely have a selection that will peak your interest . The ocean views of the ʻAuʻau Channel is gorgeous.

Aloha Mixed Plate after we already started digging in.

We were so happy when we found out Aloha Mixed Plate came back to Lahaina. We ate at the original one in 2000. Their new spot is an upgrade! We did a beach day at Baby Beach, then went to Aloha Mixed plate for a in between lunch and dinner meal. Really great outdoor restaurant with good food. We arrived around 3 o clock and were seated right away. The server was friendly and available. We ordered their specialty, Aloha mixed plate with shoyu chicken, teriyaki beef and mahi, as well as the mochiko chicken plate. The aloha mixed plate is the way to go, a little of everything. The teriyaki beef was my favorite. I would skip the mochiko chicken, it was good, but a little dry overall. I wish I had done the Kahlua pork instead. They make a great Mai tai too! Definitely worth the drive from Kihei.

This was suggested by friends to try. The area is crowded so parking was by chance and luck. The parking lot is small. It is outdoor seating. We made reservations and were seated within 10 mins after checking in. There were tiki torches lit to give the outdoor feel. The staff wasn't very friendly. Our waiter just told us the specials and got our drinks. Came back and took our order. The menu was simple nothing spectacular that stuck out. My plate Ali'l was pork wrapped in a leaf then wrapped in spinach, pork Lau Lau and was missing the salmon. It was ok. Nothing to wow about it. The macaroni salad that you hear people talking about was just ok. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Mochiko Chicken

We were tired of resort food and since theres no more downtown Lahaina, this little area was popping. Theres like a mall across the street with food trucks. But we wanted a mixed plate and saw the reviews. We ordered to go and got the aloha mixed plate, which came with shoyu chicken, teriyaki rib eye and fresh fish, and also got their mochiko chicken. The mochiko chicken was like chicken kaarage, it was good. The mixed plate was mixed in my opinion. The fish was bland, but the chicken and beef were good. I could have gone without the fish. If you ate at the restaurant, it looks like it had a nice view!

If you're looking for a relaxed, authentic Maui meal with an unbeatable oceanfront setting, Aloha Mixed Plate is a must. The casual atmosphere is exactly what you want on vacation--grab a table just steps from the beach, watch the waves roll in, and if you time it right, you'll be treated to one of Maui's spectacular sunsets. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, slow down, and enjoy the island. The food was fantastic. The fresh mahi mahi and swordfish were perfectly prepared, and the Hawaiian classics didn't disappoint. The teriyaki chicken was tender and flavorful, the lau lau was rich and authentic, and the kalua pig was smoky, juicy, and delicious. Best of all, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable, making it a great spot for a family dinner without breaking the bank. Great food, incredible views, and true aloha spirit--we'll definitely be back!

The restaurant boasts an amazing atmosphere, and the dishes were flavorful and served promptly. While service was occasionally inattentive, the quality keeps me coming back on each visit to the island

Empty dining room. But incredibly rude service.

Avoid having to deal with the rude wait staff We were at baby beach about five minutes away and decided we would order some plates for a late lunch. We came by to pick them up, but then when we saw there was tons of available seating in a quaint and pleasant shaded area with a nice view, we asked the host if we could eat our meal in their outdoor dining area. The older gentleman host at the front indicated that it was fine. But upon sitting down, the wait staff treated us as if we violated some sacred law. One server eventually walked over and told us that they usually don't allow patrons who order to-go to sit at a table and eat. Are you kidding me? We literally just bought your food and asked the host if we could eat at a table. And now you're going to give us attitude for eating YOUR food in YOUR dining room?! Either re-train your host or tell your wait staff to treat your patrons with some courtesy. Ideally both! But please don't ruin our meal by rudely informing us we were breaking some policy. Your wait staff left our family of five with a pretty crappy taste in our mouths. And in case you're wondering, we left a 20% tip for the rude waitress who did nothing but bring us water with a large serving of attitude.

Furikake Garlic Fries
Kaelyn K.

I came early dinner time and was the perfect time to come because it was not that busy. They have full out door seating so on humid days can feel a little warm but was not super bothered by it. The furikake garlic fries were AMAZING! I LOVED the crunch they had where you could tell it was fresh and hot from the fryer. If you love a well done fry these are the fries for you! Even the soggier ones (which there weren't many) were so tasty! They had the perfect garlic butter flavor. The aloha mixed plate was also delicious but there was nothing that stood out to me from other plates I've had. The chicken and beef were good but the fish was a little over done for my liking. The Mac salad was great! Which can be hard to do but was a delicious bite. Personally the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was because of the service I received. It wasn't horrible but i felt as though my waitress didn't provide me with knowledge of the menu. I wasn't informed of the specials and was not informed of the fish of the day until I had asked about it since it was included in the plate. Yet I heard her mention to another table of the specials of the day. I also felt a little uncomfortable when it came to paying because, like many other places they had the portable card reader, when she brought the card reader to me the tip was already pre checked AND she didn't allow me to hold the reader to adjust tip if I wanted to, which I had. It made it an uncomfortable situation where she watched me keep the tip there and pay for service that didn't deserve a 22% tip.

Food is delicious! Great place for lunch or dinner. Wings are sooooo good! Views are amazing. Service is outstanding. Drinks are on point. Don't forget to ask for coconut Mai Tai - cheers !

Aloha Mixed Plate is a solid choice if you're looking for a classic Hawaii style plate lunch. I got the Aloha Mixed Plate which comes with shoyu chicken, teriyaki ribeye, fried fish, rice and mac salad. The shoyu chicken was juicy and flavorful, cooked really well and probably my favorite of the three meats. The fish was fresh with a light crispy batter, and the housemade tartar sauce paired well with it. The teriyaki ribeye was a little salty for me but still had good flavor. At around $25 it's definitely a bit pricey for a plate lunch, but considering how much you get and the variety on one plate, it's not outrageous. Overall a good meal and somewhere I'd gladly come back to.

Chow Funn
Jasmine S.

Great food! The first time I tried the teriyaki beef which was good. The second time I tried the chow funn noodles which were to die for!!! Would highly recommend. Wait times are not too bad but I'd suggest making a reservation if you're coming on the weekend for dinner. Lots of parking available in front.

Kalua pork plate
Ry T.

Come for the sunset view. The food is alright, not the best I've ever had. I ordered the Kalua pig plate. The macaroni salad was sort of bland. I prefer the fast food Hawaiian places that add tuna to it. The Kalua pork was too salty but had decent flavor. The poi with it was good but the Lomo salmon was better. Hubby tried the Mochiko chicken and that tasted good. Our server was nice but while talking to her, she gradually walked away, distracted or disinterested. It's a casual patio dining.

Has this place reopened?

Yes!

Do they offer brown rice?

Yes they do $1? Up charge?

Do they have a happy hour, and if so, any discounts on appetizers & cocktails?

I have never seen a sign for happy hour

What are the vegan options? It states "vegan options" under amenities.

I don't think they had vegan options but I know they have vegetarian options!

What are the breakfast hours? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Breakfast served daily: 8:00 - 11:00 AM

I have a gluten allergy.... any suggestions what to order here?

The ribeye or the fish of the day..I would definitely ask the servers, you will find something delicious to eat there!

Did you like your food and service?

Food was delicious. Service was fantastic. I must preface this by stating that we went before the large remodel and loved the quaint/local feel. When we went back a few years later (post-remodel) parking left a lot to be desired and it was crazy…

We ordered and the guy taking orders was super cool, great energy. Then the lady who was on drink duty was so incredibly rude it killed my vibe. We got a cold brew, a cola and a brewed coffee. I wasn't expecting the cold brew to have cream/milk in it so I politely said "Was this one the cold brew?" She snaps "No, that's the cold brew" and points to the cola. The she asks if my name is my name and says, "No that's the cola, that's the coffee and that's the so ono (cold brew)." So instead of simply confirming that I'm right, she killed my vibe on the whole experience. Foods good but fix the attitude of your employees or good food only gets you so far.

Don't panic, trust the process. The food is divine! Great portions and flavors. The chilaquiles with chorizo were a nice spicy. They do hit but they also have a nice chili flavor so it's not just heat. Loco moco was good. My only change would be to cook the patty a little more on the medium side rather than well done but none the less it was very good. French toast was amazing - no syrup needed!

Swung by Mala for happy hour, and unfortunately was kind of disappointed…read more I go to Maui often, but this was my first time revisiting Lahaina since the fire (last few times the area was blocked off), and I felt it was important to go and support the Lahaina businesses that are starting back-up. The location is amazing, right on the water, and the establishment is rather small. We were sat at the bar, and I really enjoyed having the ocean view all around. Bar service was fine. However the food and drinks are "meh" at best. We went during "happy hour," and the menu is limited. The only item I found unique and interested was the ube hot bread -- definitely worth trying; I haven't seen ube at many other places. I found the seared ahi bruschetta to be a bit meager and found the coconut shrimp to completely miss the mark (tommy's is definitely the place to get this item). I also wasn't impressed with the makai tai (mai tai). So while I'm glad business are returning to Lahaina and I loved the views -- sadly the food and drinks didn't do it for me. Perhaps worth trying for dinner, but something tells me not. Furthermore there are definitely many better places to go to for happy hour (such as Monkeypod).

I'm from South East Asian descent (and we eat a lot of coconut in our food) and I lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Possibly my standards were higher. Fish tacos were standard with delicious pineapple slaw! I love how the fish isn't battered. Fried Brussels Caesar barely had any Brussels sprouts. The amount of Brussels felt like another type of croutons were added to a salad. Coconut crusted mahi.... I really wanted to like it but couldn't understand why this would be so popular. It's definitely unique with coconut rice and shaved coconut. But I still don't really taste coconut. Got the toast for dessert, not bad! Coconut jam with is pretty good. Reminds me a little of an upscale Kaya toast. Overall, this place isn't phenomenal as some reviews mention. They must have really delicious drinks with their coconut foam, we just had water. Service felt cringey and felt like he wanted to upsell us. He was around to check if we needed anything. Asked a weird question if we were from the Hyatt or Marriott, could have asked us where we were from. This would have been 3 stars however our kids loved having the keiki room, had a blast looking for toys. They had crayons, coloring paper, and a keiki menu as well. The keiki had toys that toddlers to10 years old were into.

Even for my taste, they were almost overwhelmingly sugary, to the point where I could barely taste the actual coffee. I don't mind a sweeter drink, but I still want to be able to taste the espresso and have some balance between the coffee and the other flavors. The frozen mocha was probably the best example of this. It tasted more like a chocolate milkshake than a coffee drink. It was rich, chocolatey, and definitely delicious if you're in the mood for something sweet, but I could barely taste any coffee in it. I'd consider getting it again as more of a dessert or sweet treat, but definitely not when I'm looking for a caffeine fix. I would have liked a stronger coffee flavor to balance out all the chocolate and sugar. The island latte was again very sweet, I liked the syrups they used but i wish there was a stronger coffee taste. Prices were also on the expensive side, almost $20 for 2 drinks. Parking was another downside, as it was pretty difficult to find a spot nearby. Overall, I'd say this place is better suited for people who enjoy dessert-like coffee drinks rather than those who want a good balance of sweetness and coffee flavor. If you have a serious sweet tooth, you might enjoy it, but even as someone who loves sweet coffee, these drinks were a little too much for me.
