Kalua pig plate with poi & Lomi Lomi
Christine V.

Want the luau food experience without paying for the actual luau show? This is a great option! It's an outdoor restaurant, so definitely dress accordingly. If it's drizzling outside, you can bet you'll probably be drizzled on while eating your meal too! But the setting is beautiful, especially if you get a table around sunset--you can watch the sunset right from your seat. There are plenty of food options to choose from, along with lots of drink options. The restaurant sits right next to Old Lahaina Luau, so if you make a dinner reservation around luau time, you can even hear the luau going on next door. They had traditional Hawaiian food such as poi, lau lau, kalua, etc. Service was good as well. Overall, a fun way to enjoy some of the food and atmosphere without paying for the full luau experience!

Aloha mixed plate is a nice place to eat. Seating is covered and open. I ordered the Ali'i plate which is actually a Hawaiian plate. The Lau Lau was small, but very good. The Kalua pig was flavorful, but a bit on the salty side. The lomi lomi salmon was good, and the small cup of poi was barely enough for half of the Lau Lau. I understand the poi is tossed majority of the time, but for those who enjoy poi (mainly locals), the small amount of poi is not enough for the Hawaiian food. Overall, the service was good. Our servers were friendly and helpful. If you're in Lahaina, stop by Aloha Mixed Plate for a nice meal. The menu will definitely have a selection that will peak your interest . The ocean views of the ʻAuʻau Channel is gorgeous.

Aloha Mixed Plate after we already started digging in.

We were so happy when we found out Aloha Mixed Plate came back to Lahaina. We ate at the original one in 2000. Their new spot is an upgrade! We did a beach day at Baby Beach, then went to Aloha Mixed plate for a in between lunch and dinner meal. Really great outdoor restaurant with good food. We arrived around 3 o clock and were seated right away. The server was friendly and available. We ordered their specialty, Aloha mixed plate with shoyu chicken, teriyaki beef and mahi, as well as the mochiko chicken plate. The aloha mixed plate is the way to go, a little of everything. The teriyaki beef was my favorite. I would skip the mochiko chicken, it was good, but a little dry overall. I wish I had done the Kahlua pork instead. They make a great Mai tai too! Definitely worth the drive from Kihei.

This was suggested by friends to try. The area is crowded so parking was by chance and luck. The parking lot is small. It is outdoor seating. We made reservations and were seated within 10 mins after checking in. There were tiki torches lit to give the outdoor feel. The staff wasn't very friendly. Our waiter just told us the specials and got our drinks. Came back and took our order. The menu was simple nothing spectacular that stuck out. My plate Ali'l was pork wrapped in a leaf then wrapped in spinach, pork Lau Lau and was missing the salmon. It was ok. Nothing to wow about it. The macaroni salad that you hear people talking about was just ok. I wouldn't recommend this place.

Mochiko Chicken

We were tired of resort food and since theres no more downtown Lahaina, this little area was popping. Theres like a mall across the street with food trucks. But we wanted a mixed plate and saw the reviews. We ordered to go and got the aloha mixed plate, which came with shoyu chicken, teriyaki rib eye and fresh fish, and also got their mochiko chicken. The mochiko chicken was like chicken kaarage, it was good. The mixed plate was mixed in my opinion. The fish was bland, but the chicken and beef were good. I could have gone without the fish. If you ate at the restaurant, it looks like it had a nice view!

If you're looking for a relaxed, authentic Maui meal with an unbeatable oceanfront setting, Aloha Mixed Plate is a must. The casual atmosphere is exactly what you want on vacation--grab a table just steps from the beach, watch the waves roll in, and if you time it right, you'll be treated to one of Maui's spectacular sunsets. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, slow down, and enjoy the island. The food was fantastic. The fresh mahi mahi and swordfish were perfectly prepared, and the Hawaiian classics didn't disappoint. The teriyaki chicken was tender and flavorful, the lau lau was rich and authentic, and the kalua pig was smoky, juicy, and delicious. Best of all, the portions are generous and the prices are very reasonable, making it a great spot for a family dinner without breaking the bank. Great food, incredible views, and true aloha spirit--we'll definitely be back!

The restaurant boasts an amazing atmosphere, and the dishes were flavorful and served promptly. While service was occasionally inattentive, the quality keeps me coming back on each visit to the island

Empty dining room. But incredibly rude service.

Avoid having to deal with the rude wait staff We were at baby beach about five minutes away and decided we would order some plates for a late lunch. We came by to pick them up, but then when we saw there was tons of available seating in a quaint and pleasant shaded area with a nice view, we asked the host if we could eat our meal in their outdoor dining area. The older gentleman host at the front indicated that it was fine. But upon sitting down, the wait staff treated us as if we violated some sacred law. One server eventually walked over and told us that they usually don't allow patrons who order to-go to sit at a table and eat. Are you kidding me? We literally just bought your food and asked the host if we could eat at a table. And now you're going to give us attitude for eating YOUR food in YOUR dining room?! Either re-train your host or tell your wait staff to treat your patrons with some courtesy. Ideally both! But please don't ruin our meal by rudely informing us we were breaking some policy. Your wait staff left our family of five with a pretty crappy taste in our mouths. And in case you're wondering, we left a 20% tip for the rude waitress who did nothing but bring us water with a large serving of attitude.

Furikake Garlic Fries
Kaelyn K.

I came early dinner time and was the perfect time to come because it was not that busy. They have full out door seating so on humid days can feel a little warm but was not super bothered by it. The furikake garlic fries were AMAZING! I LOVED the crunch they had where you could tell it was fresh and hot from the fryer. If you love a well done fry these are the fries for you! Even the soggier ones (which there weren't many) were so tasty! They had the perfect garlic butter flavor. The aloha mixed plate was also delicious but there was nothing that stood out to me from other plates I've had. The chicken and beef were good but the fish was a little over done for my liking. The Mac salad was great! Which can be hard to do but was a delicious bite. Personally the reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was because of the service I received. It wasn't horrible but i felt as though my waitress didn't provide me with knowledge of the menu. I wasn't informed of the specials and was not informed of the fish of the day until I had asked about it since it was included in the plate. Yet I heard her mention to another table of the specials of the day. I also felt a little uncomfortable when it came to paying because, like many other places they had the portable card reader, when she brought the card reader to me the tip was already pre checked AND she didn't allow me to hold the reader to adjust tip if I wanted to, which I had. It made it an uncomfortable situation where she watched me keep the tip there and pay for service that didn't deserve a 22% tip.

Karina R.

Food is delicious! Great place for lunch or dinner. Wings are sooooo good! Views are amazing. Service is outstanding. Drinks are on point. Don't forget to ask for coconut Mai Tai - cheers !

Aloha Mixed Plate is a solid choice if you're looking for a classic Hawaii style plate lunch. I got the Aloha Mixed Plate which comes with shoyu chicken, teriyaki ribeye, fried fish, rice and mac salad. The shoyu chicken was juicy and flavorful, cooked really well and probably my favorite of the three meats. The fish was fresh with a light crispy batter, and the housemade tartar sauce paired well with it. The teriyaki ribeye was a little salty for me but still had good flavor. At around $25 it's definitely a bit pricey for a plate lunch, but considering how much you get and the variety on one plate, it's not outrageous. Overall a good meal and somewhere I'd gladly come back to.

Chow Funn
Jasmine S.

Great food! The first time I tried the teriyaki beef which was good. The second time I tried the chow funn noodles which were to die for!!! Would highly recommend. Wait times are not too bad but I'd suggest making a reservation if you're coming on the weekend for dinner. Lots of parking available in front.

Kalua pork plate
Ry T.

Come for the sunset view. The food is alright, not the best I've ever had. I ordered the Kalua pig plate. The macaroni salad was sort of bland. I prefer the fast food Hawaiian places that add tuna to it. The Kalua pork was too salty but had decent flavor. The poi with it was good but the Lomo salmon was better. Hubby tried the Mochiko chicken and that tasted good. Our server was nice but while talking to her, she gradually walked away, distracted or disinterested. It's a casual patio dining.

Has this place reopened?

Yes!

Do they offer brown rice?

Yes they do $1? Up charge?

Do they have a happy hour, and if so, any discounts on appetizers & cocktails?

I have never seen a sign for happy hour

What are the vegan options? It states "vegan options" under amenities.

I don't think they had vegan options but I know they have vegetarian options!

What are the breakfast hours? I can't seem to find that info anywhere.

Breakfast served daily: 8:00 - 11:00 AM

I have a gluten allergy.... any suggestions what to order here?

The ribeye or the fish of the day..I would definitely ask the servers, you will find something delicious to eat there!

Did you like your food and service?

Food was delicious. Service was fantastic. I must preface this by stating that we went before the large remodel and loved the quaint/local feel. When we went back a few years later (post-remodel) parking left a lot to be desired and it was crazy…

My wife and I had heard about Star Noodle so much that it was time we finally tried it - our reservation was for 4:45 and we were promptly seated at a table for two with a view of the water. We decided to try a few starters, then move onto an entree or two. Steamed pork buns: the softest, fluffiest, bao bun we've ever had (you can order 3 or 4 to an order.) plenty of pork and veggie filling, and very tasty all around...these are a signature dish, so I recommend ordering if nothing else. Sticky adobo ribs: another solid offering - the adobo was tangy and tasty, and the outer texture of the rib was a little crunchy as if they briefly flash-fried it before serving. I'd definitely recommend this dish as a second appetizer... Green beans: I wanted to be a fan, but the dish lacked any flavor. In retrospect, I would have asked for some type of drizzled sauce to help amp it up a bit. But it's a light, clean, dish that you may want to try if you're sampling healthier items...

I'm from South East Asian descent (and we eat a lot of coconut in our food) and I lived in San Francisco and Los Angeles. Possibly my standards were higher. The amount of Brussels felt like another type of croutons were added to a salad. Coconut crusted mahi.... I really wanted to like it but couldn't understand why this would be so popular. It's definitely unique with coconut rice and shaved coconut. But I still don't really taste coconut. Got the toast for dessert, not bad! Coconut jam with is pretty good. Reminds me a little of an upscale Kaya toast. Overall, this place isn't phenomenal as some reviews mention. They must have really delicious drinks with their coconut foam, we just had water. Service felt cringey and felt like he wanted to upsell us. He was around to check if we needed anything. Asked a weird question if we were from the Hyatt or Marriott, could have asked us where we were from. This would have been 3 stars however our kids loved having the keiki room, had a blast looking for toys. They had crayons, coloring paper, and a keiki menu as well. The location is amazing, right on the water, and the establishment is rather small. We were sat at the bar, and I really enjoyed having the ocean view all around. Bar service was fine. However the food and drinks are "meh" at best. We went during "happy hour," and the menu is limited. The only item I found unique and interested was the ube hot bread -- definitely worth trying; I haven't seen ube at many other places. I found the seared ahi bruschetta to be a bit meager and found the coconut shrimp to completely miss the mark (tommy's is definitely the place to get this item). I also wasn't impressed with the makai tai (mai tai). So while I'm glad business are returning to Lahaina and I loved the views -- sadly the food and drinks didn't do it for me. Perhaps worth trying for dinner, but something tells me not. Furthermore there are definitely many better places to go to for happy hour (such as Monkeypod).

We went during happy hour (2:30 - 5pm) where their hand crafted cocktails were $4 off. Prior to this, I haven't had a Mai Tai before so was unsure how they should taste but the Monkeypod version contained honey-lilikoi foam which made them bright, inviting, and iconic. Well everyone in the family loved these. They were simply delicious. From their happy hour food menu (appetizers were half off except anything containing seafood), the Roasted Chicken Wings were a hit with my sons. The Poke Tacos which were beautifully presented were fresh and tasty. One order comes with 3 so we ordered an extra taco which turned out to be the right move as they are on the small side. And I wanted to point out since the Tacos contained seafood, it was not eligible for the discount. Pizzas were priced at $16 (except for the Bourgeois) so we opted for the Margherita and Kahlua Pork and Pineapple. The latter was our family favorite. The pork was tender and flavorful which contrasted nicely with the sweet pineapple. We did order the Fish and chips from their regular menu. Mahi mahi was the fish of the day and it was good, but nothing exceptional. The fish came out nice and hot but the temperature of the fries were not so was a little disappointed. We ended our meal with the Banana Cream Pie. We all agreed that it was hands down the best Banana cream pie that we have had. The bananas were so fresh and flavorful, so much umami. The restaurant was open/airy and the view was amazing. Our server was friendly and the service went without a hitch. We will definitely be back.

I was disappointed that nearly than half the draft beers are out, limiting the variety, but I was able to enjoy the only hazy IPAs available and the only witbier available (I forget the name of both). Sitting at the bar was fine, nothing very special about it -- and bar service was also just fine. A Maui Tradition for Over 30 Years…read more We've been coming to Hula Grill every time we visit Maui for over 30 years, and it's become a tradition we wouldn't want to miss. The view is always spectacular, the fish is consistently fresh, and their Mai Tais are still among the best on the island! We dined in the main restaurant on October 7, and overall, the service was pretty good and the food was decent, although not quite as memorable as it was 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the restaurant has become increasingly crowded over the years, which is understandable given its popularity as a tourist destination. One disappointing experience was dining in the bar area, where there's sand on the floor. During our visit last year, the area was filled with flies, which was pretty disgusting. Needless to say, we won't be dining in that section again. We've found the main restaurant to be a much better experience. Despite a few disappointments, Hula Grill remains a Maui classic for us. You can't beat the oceanfront setting, fresh fish, and excellent Mai Tais. We'll likely continue to visit on future trips, but we do hope the food and overall experience can recapture some of the magic we remember from years past.

First time in Maui, first meal after arriving. I'd tried the Hula Grill in Waikiki and thought the…read morefood was good, not wow, but this was a choice made by others in our small group, so I just went along because of the excellent location by the Whalers Village shopping center on one side, and the beach and ocean views on the other. Unfortunately, we were a bit delayed by our flight and hotel check in that we got here a bit late, after the sun had already set.....sadly, we missed that. The place was absolutely packed!.....but we had reservations, checked in, and waited about 10 minutes after our reservation time, and was then given a pretty decent table inside vs an outdoor table closer to the beach. Service was nice, friendly, and helpful.....so no complaints about that. As for the food....whilst walking to our table, we saw servers carrying trays of yummy looking fish and chips and tacos, but later found out that they were serving diners at the bar area, so these items were not available in the more "formal" Hula Grill restaurant section....bummer. Anyway, it was getting a bit late for us on California time, so we all chose to eat light...I orderd the Chilled Seafood Platter, and others in the group ordered the Grilled Fish, Roasted beets, Wok Charred Iwamoto Noodles, Seafood Poststickers, and ended everything with a huge slice of their signature Hula Pie. My Seafood Platter was served chilled with Kiawe charred sashimi grade ahi, a couple of small lobster tails, grileld and chilled jumbo shrimp cocktail, and some sides of kimchi, and wasabi. Yes, everything was very fresh and delicious, but I truly expected the portion to be much bigger, considering it's called a "Platter." Was a bit disappointed as others at our table wanted to try some of my seafood, but I had to say NO as I would be left with close to nothing to eat had I shared it. The other issue we all had was with the Lobster, Shrimp, and Scallop Potstickers. It came with a measly 5 small and flat pieces with so little stuffing that you couldn't even taste the seafood inside....even if you had put the whole thing in your mouth at once. It just need much more stuffing.....or what's the point? Whilst walking to the mens room, I walked by the kitchen and saw several plates of other dishes being put out for servers to serve to the diners......yea, the portion sizes of everything were so tiny!!! This is not something I really expected from such a restaurant......yea, the quiality may be quite good, but you'd never fill up on any of these entrees. It was a pretty good experience here, but it was more about the setting than the food.
