The food was perfect. I had the mixed plate with fish, chicken and beef. It was a generous portion. The atmosphere is great. We ordered 2 appetizers that came right away without plates. We waited and finally we saw the waiter and signaled him. He seemed to down play the long wait and our need for the plates. When we finally got them and our food came too. The rice was hot but the food was only slightly warm. Our waiter never came to check on us. We flagged him down and asked him to refill our drinks and he had a weird joking attitude like it wasn't his job. We came here to support Lāhainā and have a nice dinner. Service is lacking. BLUF: I cannot recommend this restaurant! It has potential but does not deserve more than one star based on the food and service. The positive: We were seated within 5 minutes of our 6pm reservation (made on Open Table)l. The setting was attractive, relaxed, and family friendly with an attractive view of the ocean and nearby sail boats. Mai Tais were pretty good. Lots of seating in the waiting area by the bar. The negative: We sat for ten minutes before wait staff acknowledged us, and during that time several wait staff purposely look away to avoid making eye contact with us and guests at other recently seated tables. After another five minutes, someone brought us water. Finally, after sitting at our table for 25 minutes, our waiter took out drink and meal order. Our Mai Tais arrived pretty quickly and were ok. Our meals also arrived quickly but were very disappointing, even at the bargain price of ~$20 each. The servings were meager, especially for the fish, and the taste and quality were very mediocre; the fresh fish was bland and the teriyaki beef was fatty and tough. Everything appeared to be made in advance and kept warm in a serving tray so it could be served quickly, and none of it looked or tasted great with the exception of the small serving of macaroni salad. In addition, we didn't receive our appetizer of coconut shrimp and learned the waiter forgot to turn that in -- at least we weren't charged for it. Out meal definitely wasn't worth the ~$100 we spent including a 15% tip (very generous given the service). Very thankful we have multiple reservations at the Hula Grill and Dukes for other dinners while we vacation on Maui, places where the food and service are consistently excellent. read more

Great views, ok food. Kalbi ribs were tasty and my kids really enjoyed it. For $27, it's not a whole lot of meat. The hubs got the Aloha Mixed Plate. It comes with shoyu chicken, thin sliced teriyaki rib eye and fresh fish. Out of the three, the shoyu chicken was the best! It was tender and had a lot of flavor. The rib eye was okay. Fish was way overcooked. Service wasn't the best. They brought my husband's cocktail halfway through our lunch even though it was the first thing we ordered. read more

This place is very close to the ocean which is cool. The food is accurate for what "local Hawaiian food" consist of. It hits the mark, but doesn't WOW you. I like that it it so close to the beach but I did not like all of the flies which were around. Be careful if you get up to use the restroom, there are a lot of flies. I had the Kalbi which was a little tough and slightly too saucy. It looks really good from the photo but doesn't taste as good as it looks. My girlfriend had the mix plate and again it's all very average for the food. The service was very average too. Nothing spectacular. I did not overly welcomed, but at the same time, nothing was rude. It felt more like, heres your seat, heres your food, okay bye. Which is fine for me. Maybe a tourist would expect more attentiveness, but I consider myself a local when in Hawaii. I love Aloha Mixed Plate! Service here was great, they have incredible Mai Tai's on happy hour here. The views are unmatched of the ocean and boats anchored nearby. We loved the Ahi Tuna, which had huge chunks of fish. Give me 14 of them right now. We also tried the Loco Moco with fried rice and it was so good! The parking lot is a bit small as it's shared with a neighboring restaurant. I recommend going early or late to help find parking. I definitely recommend coming here and giving them a shot! This was our favorite casual restaurant in Maui, and then they had to shut down due to COVID. Imagine our delight when we discovered it had reopened in time for our trip! We of COURSE made a beeline for it the first chance we got, and it felt like coming home. My hubby and I both had the mixed plate, which comes with a LOT of food! Flavorful teriyaki beef, a light and flaky grilled fish fillet, the touch of smoke complimented by the tangy zest of lemon, and then some tender and tasty shoyu chicken-you should let them show YOU just how amazing their food is, you will NOT regret it! The view is wonderful since the restaurant is right on the beach, and the service is very good and very nice. They go above and beyond to make sure that you're happy by the time you leave. We had a reservation for 5:15pm and were seated immediately. They sat us right near the ocean and we could hear the waves crashing (beautiful!), but the sun was glaring on us so the shades were down. We couldn't see it but we could hear it, no big deal, but just be wary of your reservation time if you're wanting to see the ocean. This is all outdoor seating. Weather was about 75 degrees and we had no complaints. Our server was very nice--he let the two of us get four drinks. *Food was amazing! I'm not a big fan of raw fish but the poké was delicious and not too fishy. Squirt a little lemon and soy sauce on top and it is perfection. It's an appetizer, so it's good portion if you're not too hungry but still want something fulfilling. The Aloha Mixed Plate was also good--our favorite was the fish. So buttery and perfectly seasoned. The shoyu chicken was so tender and I didn't even need a knife to eat it! The teriyaki rib eye was good but nothing to rave about. We were on the West side on a Saturday and decided to stop for lunch. This is our first time back here since the Lahaina fires. This is an open air restaurant with parking right in front. We didn't have reservations but we were seated immediately. We scored a great ocean-front table with a beautiful view! The service was amazing- fast and friendly. We ordered the Asian Chicken Salad and the Teriyaki Beef. The plates come with rice and macaroni salad but you can substitute green salad for the macaroni salad. The portions were good and they both tasted exactly what we were expecting. So yummy! We saved room for dessert so we ordered the Aloha pie which is made with haupia ice cream and tastes amazing! The hostess and servers were nice and they had the usual mixed plate items. I loved the ambience and there was a beautiful ocean view. We planned it so we got to see the sunset while eating. I ordered the kalbi mixed plate and Korean fried wings. I think I would still be hungry if I only ordered one or the other; eaten together I was full. Although the taste was good for both, both were salty for my taste. Overall I would recommend this place since it had a beautiful seating area and view. The soy sauce on the table was watered down and the lack of side dish options is an issue. Our server came around once to take our order and we didn't see her again until she brought the bill. Wherever you're staying in Maui, this place is a must in Lahaina! Get in your car and drive there for some of the best Hawaiian food you'll have on the island. It's not too big of a place and it's outdoor, covered seating. There's a small private parking lot. You get nice views of the ocean. The staff is all great and attentive. This is an update to a review i did many, many years ago. We were so surprised and happy to see the Aloha Mixed Plate open again after a few years! We made a point of coming here every time we came to Maui, if not multiple times. We even had two of our children's wedding dinners here before getting married at the Grand Wailea. So this restaurant always had a special place in our hearts. Now about tonight~ we had the Kailua pork dinner and the aloha plate. The bill came to $52, not including tip. The meal was fantastic. Could it be it's even better than before?! We loved it and will be back tomorrow night. The ambiance, service, and food were all top notch! And locally raised Brandon was our amazing server. This place was our first stop for dinner as soon as we landed. It was our first time here, but we were with friends who have been before and they could not stop raving about the food (and the view) from this place. We were welcomed by beautiful smiling faces as soon as we arrived and were seated immediately in the open an airy patio. Everything on their menu sounded delicious and tempting, and after skimming through it a few times, I made my decision. My beverage of choice was their Lava Flow (omg) which I couldn't have drank fast enough...so good!!! My entree was their Kalbi plate with double mac salad (you just gotta when in HI!). The meat was so tender, marinated perfectly, and the mac did not disappoint! My husband got the Aloha Mixed Plate. The chicken, ribeye, and fish it came with were all so tender and simply delicious! We definitely felt the meat sweats (ain't nothing wrong with that!). No left overs for us because we're not quitters! LOL!
