So happy this place is open and still getting it done! This used to be a must stop on every visit, but then it closed for a bit because of the fires. It is open now, and I couldn't be happier. Guess who's back...back again... Aloha Mixed Plate is BACK! Tell a friend! We were so happy to find out that AMP is officially back, in its original location on Front Street. We went the second day they were back open to the public, and boy were we happy with the experience. As some may know, Aloha Mixed Plate was at this Front Street location and closed sometime around COVID, and changing to Star Noodle. Well now AMP is back, and as good as ever. The food was just as we remembered it - perfectly sweet and salty thin sliced teri beef, moist shoyu chicken and awesome fresh fish with the best tartar sauce. We expected some bumps in terms of service while everything got back into a rhythm, but there were no hiccups to speak of. We were seated on time (we had a resy through OpenTable), served promptly, and our food arrived in a timely manner. Our server was friendly, and the overall experience we had was so pleasant. Ok first of all, the food is delicious. We have been a few times and the food and service is always great. HOWEVER... tonight we had the worst server I have ever had in my life. Castanza from Argentina (I know this because I overheard her life story at the table next to ours) is a terrible server and they should fire her. We sat at our table for 10 min before she even acknowledged us. She gave us water, took our drink order disappeared for about 10 min. Brought our drinks and took our order then disappeared again. She then went to a couple other tables and was chit chatting for a looong time. Meanwhile our drinks were empty. After about another 10 min I finally had to go to the bar myself to get drinks for the table. Our server was no where in sight. Then another staff member brought out our food. Everything came out correct. Our server never came to check on us and we needed more drinks and water. My husband went to the bar to get our drinks again. I had to ask another server for some sauces that we wanted and she was very nice and helped me right away. I'm sorry I didn't get her name but she was running circles around our server. After a while our server finally came to check on us and my son asked for a soda refill. She forgot and about 5 min later after I saw she still didn't tell the bartender she walked by and I asked again for his refill. She took his cup and dropped it at that bar and disappeared. After 10 minutes I told my son to go get his drink from the bar. He did and our server never even noticed because she never went to the bar to pick up his drink. We ordered dessert and after 15 minutes of her not bringing it she came over and said she would go check. She came and told us it would be right out. After a while she came and realized we still didn't have dessert. She went to check and came back and said it would be right out and she would bring us extra for the wait. Instead the manager came out with a different dessert than what we ordered, told us they were out of what we wanted and said it was on them. Then about 10 min later as we were finishing up our server came out with the dessert we actually ordered. I told her we were all done and figured she would bring the check but instead she then went on to another table and talked to them for at least 10 min. My whole family had time to each go to the bathroom one at a time while I waited for the check. She still didn't leave the other table and after 15 minutes my husband and kids left to go wait in the car. I was sitting at an empty table waiting for the check forever! She was just chit chatting and laughing and ignoring everyone else. Meanwhile the other servers were running around working very hard. She finally came over and I paid. She never once said anything about sorry it took so long or thank you for your patience, nothing. She was oblivious. She didn't even realize that she never once refilled our water or any drinks. Our 1 hour dinner took almost 2 hours. She didn't seem new as if she was just learning either. She was just a terrible server and the kind of person who avoids hard work at all costs. Like the person who, when there is work to be done, they have to go to the bathroom and disappear forever or suddenly they don't feel good and can't help until the job is done and they feel fine. read more

This is a cute place for a drink before you go eat food elsewhere the truffle fries were really good, we got the fish sandwich which was flavorless, and the Chinese chicken salad which is why I am leaving a review...it was drenched in water and the chicken was rock hard and completely rotten, I wish I had taken a pic, we sent it back and had it taken off our bill. I've never in my life seen chicken like that. Stopped in for takeout on my first night in the area which was Labor Day at around 6pm. They had a wait for tables so I expected a wait for my food as well. So I grumbled a little under my breath about the point of a reservation, but we got seated in the general area anyway. Yup Maui has regional differences in the chow fun you are served. My dining partner is locally grown so trust their judgement on local food. Service was fast, servers were friendly. The fried saimin was a little different, they used wonton style egg noodles. The combo plate, the fish was the best item. Teriyaki beef was a little dry and overly sweet. Shoyu chicken was typical. My daughter didn't really enjoy her fried chicken keiki plate. She felt it was dry and lacked flavor. I assumed that this would be a casual plate lunch place but then saw they were open for dinner and had a waterfront location, so we booked this for dinner via Open Table. They're located right behind the Safeway and next to Star Noodle - the few surviving business on Front Street. They have their own parking lot, but it fills up fast, so you can park at the Lahaina Cannery plaza across the street. They do have a full bar. The Mai Tai was a bit sweet, but the Lava Flow was well balanced! Food is classic Hawaiian: - Fried rice loco moco: always get the fried rice option if it's available! So much flavor in the fried rice with kalua pork and spam, and the burger patty was generous. It comes with 2 eggs, any style (get over easy!) - Poke: loved the pickles, but the poke portion was smaller than expected - Kalbi: reasonably priced at $27 but a bit gristly - Fried noodles: they had a keiki menu, but we figured this would be more interesting for the kids. It comes with fish cake, egg, and spam - Chow funn: with ground pork, good wok char Despite it being busy, our server was great about checking in. The experience ended the minute the waitress came to the table. She had an attitude and was very unwelcoming and had a serious attitude. Ordered a bowl of fries and a Chinese chicken salad. The lettuce was wilted, as you can see in the picture, and had three pieces of chicken, as you can't see it in the picture. The previous frozen fries had a taste of oil, but was a good portion.
